Best bread and pizza! This place has good-quality products. We have tried all types of pizza and bread as well. Definitely recommend to try.
To be honest, I only tried Villiage because it's close to work. Turned out to be great. Pizza is good, I like the veggie. I'll splurge occasionally for a sweet treat, Napoleon, cookie or the tiramisu. The tiramisu is definitely worth the increased caloric intake. They also serve coffee. Hands down, best staff ever. Helpful and very nice.
Literally the best veggie pizza on the planet. Breads are also insanely good! They sell by the slice and also have a beautiful small selection of sweets/pastries. Top notch!
One of my favorite places ever to get pizza. I'm not a vegetarian and generally never intentionally ordered a veggie pizza until I tried the veggie pizza here. The crust is phenomenal!
This place rocks. The pizza slices are cheap and delicious and the pastries and bread are to die for. If you’re passing through Davis this is a great place to stop and get food.
The is definitely the BEST PIZZA IN DAVIS! Just wish there was a more inviting seating area.
After trying a majority of the pizza places in Davis, this is my favorite. It's not the cheapest, but it's the easiest to order/pickup from, and their toppings are fantastic.
This place is always a great quick place to grab a slice of pizza before hopping on Amtrak. After 5pm, their pastries are $1 but they run out quickly!
Village bakery has the best bread in Davis. They have great pizza by the slice, sticky buns and bread.
Some of the best pizza in town! Omly a few seats inside but not bad considering they have their own restaurant on G st.
Love their fruit tart super tasty just wish it was bigger 😋
Awesome pizza, reminds me of the corner pizzeria deli as a kid growing up in New York city. That's why my husband and I will keep going back to the Village bakery.
Love this place it's a hidden gem they have some outdoor seating you order at the counter. There's no indoor seating it's just very delicious authentic affordable and cute.
This place slays so hard, the employees are so nice, the pizza is amazing! Don’t even get me started on their bread, we buy the bread bowls and make tomato soup at home and eat it like this! Their bread is fantastic definitely the best in town, and their desserts are magnificent, it reminds me of when I went to France and it has the same little cute shop aesthetic!
Probably my favorite pizza in Davis. Not thin crust but not deep dish either. I've spent a decent amount of time driving around looking for parking near here in the evening - leave earlier, get lucky, or be prepared to hike. Worth the trouble though.
I've been going here for 10 years. Best bread I've ever had. So fresh and moist. I recommend jalapeño cheddar! And scones... You haven't had a scone till you've tried theirs. Tiramisu great too. Best pizza in Davis.
The scones are so delicious! 😋
Hand thrown, yeast dough, baked in an old fashions wood fired oven. Excellent sauce and toppings that compliment each other. If you would like to recreate the taste at home, (sans, the wood fire oven), they have rolled out and par-baked dough that they freeze for you to take home. One bite of that pizza crust, perfectly tender, with a yeasty chew and you will see why it is the best pizza in town.
An absolute gem in Davis and one of the best bakeries I've been to!
This place is amazing. There's little to no wait time, food and pastries are great, and come at a low cost. This is my favorite place in davis to get pizza, and I've gone to every place in town. That however is personal preference, but my point is that the food is good.
Their veggie pizza is AMAZING. Perfectly fluffy crust and the grilled onions add just the right flavor. Very nice staff too :0)
I just had coffee and an apple scone. Generally I’m a savoury person and was disappointed they had no pizza slices, but damn that scone was good. If I’ve eaten a better scone in my life I cannot remember it.
Village Bakery is now on 2nd St. It used to be near the Amtrak Train Station where Tim's Kitchen is now. It's now where a previous pizza place (Da Vito Pizza) used to be. They remodel the interior and it looks great. It's spacious, comfortable, and has a nice selection of pizzas and breads. For lunch, their pizza by the slice ranges from $5 - $6 and they are delicious! They bread is amazing, and everything about it is super fresh. The Hawaiian, the pepperoni, the meat-veggie combo, and even their pastries are amazing. If you have Village Bakery pizza before, you know it's great quality pizza. Enjoy!
Good pizza and baked goods (4/5 green stars) The Village Bakery is one of the first places you’ll see when you get off an Amtrak train, so it’s a very convenient pit-stop before or after a trip. Nice outdoor seating with shade. The man at the counter and the chef/owner were both friendly and helpful. I had a slice of the veggie pizza ($3.50) and a mixed berry scone ($2.50). All the food looked appetizing – they had some good-looking eclairs and cream puffs but I tried to exercise some self-control ;) The selection of veggies on pizza was great: nicely caramelized onions, zucchini, peppers, etc. Not too heavy on sauce or cheese. Most of the cheese was feta, which really worked well with the veggies. The scone was really delicious: crumbly and light, dusted with icing sugar and animated with the flavor of blackberries and blueberries. I’m giving the Village Bakery 4/5 “green stars” for social and environmental impact, based on these reasons: • They use local fruit and veggies when possible and everything made in house. • For the pizza, they use olive oil for the crust (unlike some other pizza places). Olive oil is generally a sustainable product. • They source organic tomatoes for the pizza sauce when in season / affordable. • For the bakery side, their dairy comes from Crystal Creamery. From what I’ve read I’d place them somewhere in the middle – not nearly as good as an organic creamery like Strauss, not as bad as Dean Foods (Berkeley Farms). • Not much waste generation – the pizza is served on a paper plate and bakery items in a paper bags. Unbleached, recycled paper would be an improvement. I think the utensils and lids were conventional plastic. • Two out of the three pizzas on sale were vegetarian. Ever written a green star review? Please contact me if you have done so, or if you’d like to know more!
Good selection of pastries for downtown area. Really enjoyed their Eclair and Napoleon!
Their baked goods are always so fresh and really tasty. Everything is made each day. Customer service has always been great. They have a complete selection of breads, muffins, and desserts. And they also have pizza. They have sourdough baguettes as well as French baguettes, and even baguettes that are soft baked.
Great cannoli!
I usually don't begin my Sunday mornings with this level of decadence, but when I do, I visit the Village Bakery in Davis. Visit the Village Bakery for all your quiche, tiramisu, cream puff needs.

Like others have said, their veggie pizza slices are expensive but I keep coming back for them because they're that good. So I guess they won't be lowering their prices anytime soon, lol. I've never been disappointed with their baked goods, of which I've tried many. Their bread is fresh, cheap, and by far the best around (especially the sourdough baguette, one time I bought one and practically ate it on the way home), and just today I was blown away by how good one of their scones was (I think it was rhubarb, I highly recommend it). I can also recall good experiences with their eclair, croissant, and cinnamon roll. The shop is kind of like a freestanding hole in the wall, but they have lots of nice outdoor seating if you want to stop for a quick bite.
Love these people. The service was friendly and efficient. They make you feel like family. But it's a good establishment so you want to know about the goods, right? As a former culinary student and professional baker I was very pleased to find this place. My background plus being nuero divergent means I have sensitive taste buds and the goods I got made me very happy. The pastries were appropriately flakey, the croissants had all the layers you want the muffins are moist and full of flavour. If you want high quality baked goods this is your go to. Enjoy!
I love their pizza and their baked goods are incredible of course. The staff is great and friendly. When’s nice out, I enjoy eating right outside where they have tables and chairs.
We love to order take out pizza and enjoy the option to pick up delicious desserts like the cream puffs and tarts . We love the convienence of grabbing freshly baked breads as well.
Great pizza. Great bread. They serve pizza whole or by slice. Order ahead if you dont want to wait the 15 min to make it. Some outdoor seating, but only two small tables inside. Most people get the pizzas to go. They also have delivery during some designated hours. Downtown parking sucks and is hard during lunch and dinner times.
UPDATE in 2026: the new location is amazing!! the tables are huge and it is very spacious. much better than the old location that had one questionable table in the corner and outdoor seating in a sketchy area by the train station. Old Review from 2025: BEST PIZZA IN DAVIS!!!! The veggie pizza is soooo tasty and unique. There isn't any indoor seating, except for one little table. It is challenging to dine here because there are lots of homeless people in this area of Davis, so outdoor seating can be frightening.
Delicious thin slice pizza, yummy tomato sauce and love the crust has that italia toasty burn taste so good. love the amount of pepperoni hell yeah.
So my husband and I literally just left the booth for these guys at a farmers market we happened upon. We bought the Asiago loaf on whim. Let me tell you, after we got to the halfway point of eating that loaf we walked right back and got another. ITS THAT GOOD. That was the most delicious and cheesy bread I’ve ever had. We’ll be lucky if that other loaf we bought makes it home. Go to it.
Easily the BEST Pizza in Greater Sacramento! I recently ordered several pizzas from Village Bakery for a holiday party at work, and it was loved by EVERYONE at the party!

Pizza is amazing, the best in Davis I'd say. Some of the more expensive unfortunately, but definitely worth it. My memories might be very out of date, but it seems like you pay a bit more (closer to $4 up from the $2 I remember) for the convenience of getting just a slice.
I liked the pizza, but it was kind of pricey. I got a slice of pizza and a soda for 10 dollars it was good and all, but not for the price. It has good desserts, but again the pice is high. I got a chocolate cake the size of my hand for 6 dollars.
Delicious quickstop whenever I'm in the area. I love their ready to eat slices of pizza, best baked breads, and the pastries are pretty good too. I really like their tiramisu and will randomly crave a piece. It's just a good local spot to grab a quick bite or you can order whole pizza pies. Definitely check out their selection of breads too. Sometimes, they will have deals which makes the bread a must get.
The slices are shrinking by the day. This is my go to pizza spot for long trips. 4.50 a slice gotta do better
Pizza was ok, well priced for a single slice. Nice my dog could go in, patio seating. Nothing special about the food, but great if you're on a budget, or walking the dog and get nibbly. :)
I love Vilkage Bakery Pizza! Therefore the 3 stars. BUT My order was 4 pizzas. $124. Which they added a 15% surcharge for order over $100. So $19. Surcharge. I cancelled 2 pizzas and ordered from The Pizza Guys at L and 5th. It was surprisingly good pizza! I’ve been getting my pizza from Village Bakery for 15 years but they lost a customer today. So sad!
Village Bakery has been our family's favorite place for Pizza for many years. We discovered it in 2008 when we moved to Davis. The pastries are divine, and the service was almost always decent, though on the rare occasion, a young woman would be quite rude. {She's still there and just as rude} I've gone to the new location a few times, and sadly, the pizza has gone from FAB to DRAB. Without fail, on each pizza and slice we ordered, the crust was SOGGY! As were the veggies on the vegetarian pizza, and seemingly every pizza had about 1/3 less sliced veggies. It seems that it's no longer brick-fired, and they haven't figured out the right temperature for the oven! Nothing like picking up a slice of pizza and the crust falling into a soggy mess on the plate because it's completely undercooked and actually wet! This is a sad & disappointing departure from the near-perfection at the old place. Where is the owner in all of this? Could he not be aware of the poor quality of what is being served in his establishment?

I came in early, maybe 7 am. The pastries and cakes in the display looked fantastic. I asked the cashier about the pizza which is what I came for. In an irritated tone he replied that pizzas weren't available until later in the day, I believe 11. Fair enough, I asked about the ingredients of the carrot cake as I have a nut allergy. He told he didn't know the ingredients. Again, it seemed like he did not want to talk to me. I asked if there was some way to find out the ingredients. He looked in a stack of papers on the counter and took out what looked like a menu. The menu described the carrot cake as containing unspecified "nuts." He then said, "I think it just has walnuts." Suffice it to say I did not purchase anything and I was not satisfied with the service. I have not completely written off this place but this employee was quite unprofessional.
My parents came for the first time to visit Davis and I took them here to have a family lunch. The food and service was a huge disappointment. s when we had to call her multiple times to even come to our table (it wasn't even crowded). We were given dirty napkins with spaghetti marks all over it and again it was a challenge to get waitresses attention to get a clean napkin! The rice was not fresh at all and we needed butter to make it at least eatable. After asking 3 times for butter from waitresses we did not receive any and eventually left the place with disappointment. I would not take any one to this place, specially if it's they're first time in Davis!
This Village Bakery location that I have been coming to for 10+ years just blew my mind this morning. When I asked for my normal order of two loaves of sliced levain bread, I was told that they no longer slice bread for customers. I was flabbergasted and told them that seemed like a a very poor customer service policy. Instead of an apology or a friendly response, I got a very hostile answer. I guess I’ll now be giving the local Upper Crust Bakery 100% of my business.
Ordered 2 pizzas over the phone on Friday night. We had a playdate in our house. Children ate the first pizza. My husband took a piece and said that the crust tasted strange. Later at night, I tested the second pizza, the crust was burnt and it had parchment stuck in the dough. I ended up taking a video the pizza and throwing it away. I was out of town over the weekend and couldn’t return the second pizza. I was thinking that a receipt and video should be enough. I called the village bakery later and talked to the manager. He offered me 10% off the next order for the inconvenience! He said that I had to bring the pizza back for the replacement otherwise they can’t help me. When I was picking up my pizza, they were training a girl there. I don’t know if it’s related or not, but I am super disappointed. I have been ordering pizza at their bakery every other week for many years. I guess, I won’t be doing it anymore.
I haven’t ate the food yet and this review is on first experience and service so far. The guy said they don’t accept bills larger than 50. I had only 100 dollar bill and didn’t want to use my debit. I was given no choice but to use my debit card. Second I think they are used to student only and don’t realize families also can come and eat here. The restrooms are closed. I couldn’t wash my hands and the guy said I can use his sanitizer. My hands are sticky and I want to use soap to wash my hands. I couldn’t do that and my family couldn’t use restroom. With kids I am left to tell kids be patient and we will find a restroom. I will give another review on food quality after. This is an addition to review on food. The pizza is good and tasty. Good ingredients. The service is very lazy type and needs serious changes. I know it is pandemic time but restrooms are a necessity.
