We stopped by this barbecue place yesterday in the edge of Denton, on our way to Lewisville and absolutely loved the vibe! We placed a takeout order and everything was spot on — perfectly packed sandwiches, delicious barbecue, and the smell alone was mouthwatering. The staff was amazing, and a special shoutout to the man handling the meats — he did an outstanding job. Me and my husband can’t wait to come back! BTW this was our first time visiting this place.
Tried both the soft shell and hard shell barbecue tacos at Dickey’s in Denton by the Quick Trip recently, and wow they’ve nailed it on both fronts! Dickey’s made these smoky, barbecue-packed tacos perfectly. They’re a fun twist on traditional tacos, and perfect for BBQ lovers looking for something different, I would totally recommend to try it out!! FAVVVV!!!!
Very clean location in Denton area. Our family enjoyed the meal peacefully. All meats were smoked to perfection. Kids meals was free which is a bonus plus free softie for everyone. The new owners greeted us and checked on us multiple times to ensure everything was okay. We are definitely coming back for our weekend dinner routine here.
Went in to Dickeys to get some brisket and okra today. This is a normal stop for me once a week. They are consistently great in both food and service. Found out that kids can eat free on Sunday as well (see conditions) so I may stop in on Sundays more often now. That means my two kids get both free meals and free icecream for dessert. I cant beat that offer. Bathrooms are clean and service is fast. Enjoy! If you like my reviews and pictures please drop me a like.
This is the first time I have gone to this location. Their fryer was not working, the food was cold " grease congealed on the brisket. "Which should have been burnt ends" the beans were bland but the coke slaw good. They could not figure out how to charge a gift card. To be fair. There was only two employees working and both seem to be new employees. The Dickey's BBQ on HWY 380 is a difference experience . The food was hot, and tasted good. The macaroni and cheese was creamy and the potatoe salad was perfect. And they know how to use gift cards. The store was clean. No problem.
Ribs are dry and salty. Brisket was not smoked. No smoke flavor and no smoke ring. Chicken and Turkey were both dry and seasoned horribly. There can’t be a pitmaster at this location. If there was, he’d be embarrassed to pass this off as Texas bbq. $78 for inedible bbq. It appears there is new ownership or management. Lids for cups were not readily available. When the meat is sliced it takes forever because the guy cutting must have got in trouble for allowing an extra ounce of meat onto someone’s plate, previously. So, now, he cuts tiny pieces that aren’t even bite size in order to hit the exact amount of ounces that they want to put on the plates. We will have to find a new place. The end of an era
I never leave reviews but this grants One. I ordered at the window the family pack, $80 dlls wasted. Food tasted old, stale bread, greasy greasy brisket, mashed potatoes tasted horrible. Didn’t even touch it. My son wanted fries, machine wasn’t working. Was planning on having leftovers tomorrow, not happening, throwing everything away. If I could have gone back and return it I would have. Don’t go here and waste your money, go somewhere else. (Posted the receipt so you can see I’m a real customer)
I had an extremely bad experience at the Dickeys here. I know that Dickeys is not exactly known for being a five star experience and did not expect the most incredible barbecue in the world, but it was worse than I imagined. The food was completely cold, the staff was angry while talking to me and my partner, the sauce was somehow burnt in the canister, and even the soda tasted completely like soda water. I should have known that the restaurant was going to be bad when it was completely empty at 7:00 pm. Save your money and go elsewhere for barbecue.
The brisket & turkey & ribs were either dry or under seasoned. The chili was under seasoned. The mac'n'cheese was cold. The only good thing was the soda.
Zero stars. Don’t come here. This is now the 3rd time that I have come and they have closed before their actual closing times listed. Literally just wanted some Mac and cheese on my way home. Oh and your employee wouldn’t even answer me when I asked 2x what time they closed, then he just left the drive thru mic and ignored me. Great customer service.
I tried to redeem a free 1 meat plate reward but the two guys working there (both for descriptive purposes appeared.to be indian) said that because I had a drink with my order, I had to pay full price. They wouldn't fix it. Or at the very least they wouldn't ring the drink up separately. Furthermore the Diet Coke tasted like Flat Coke Zero. I was already upset over their service from before and decided to just leave since there seemed to be a bit of language barrier with them also. I used to go this Dickey's when I went to UNT and the service and food was far superior to what it was now.
Ordered a brisket sandwich , bowl of chili and a slice of pecan pie, brisket sandwich was like warm at best, chile was even colder and they didn’t ask or bother to put the cheese and onions that is supposed to be on it . As for the pie , hard to mess up but they found a way to sell pecan pie that had more crust than filling. First time I’ve eaten at a dickeys in a while and may be the last. My overall experience was I spent 22$ for a sandwich and side that was about equal to a 7-11 or truck stop deli sandwich. Which I could have got for half the price.
I tried to go through the drive thru yesterday 10/1/25. Nobody answered! After about 5 minutes, I pulled up to the window, looked in and saw a guy at the back counter looking at his phone! This is at lunch hour! 1pm! No cars in the parking lot, which should have been my first red flag, and no one in the drive thru, second red flag! I’ll never go back! I didn’t put a star on the food because I didn’t get any! Ridiculous!
I should have known better. When I got my food in a generic white Thank You bag. Let’s start off by saying the sandwich. I asked for it, chopped brisket & half of it was fat from the meat that gave my mouth jelly consistency when I bit into the sandwich. And the Mac and cheese, cheese. Tasted like it came out of a Kraft box. Not even Velveeta y’all.
$24 for a 2 meat plate that was horribly thrown together…..Not to mention the price listed showed $18 yet the girl in the window tells me the added taxes made it $24….. Like WHO charges That much in taxes.. that $24 could have got me an AUTHENTIC bigger and better looking plate somewhere else. Hope they spend that donation wisely because I will NEVER go here again.
Update. Look at these $8.99 sandwiches. Theyre barely larger than the bbq sauce container. I will never get Dickies again anywhere. I've ordered uber eats delivery from this place countless times. They've forgotten my drinks a couple of times but my biggest issue is they always forget to include sauce. The app even asks what kind of sauce you want. What kind of bbq place forgets bbq sauce more times than not. A freaking monkey could do it!!!!!
I should have known better. This use to be my favorite place for BBQ. It was 6pm on a Friday and the only cars in the lot were the employees. My food was cold. The brisket was fatty. The turkey tasted like a just add water meat. The beans had no flavor. They charged me $13 over the price of the meal. With drinks, it came to $52. I ended up paying $65 for my total bill. I knew it was worthless to complain. They refused to take my puch cards, and i had to beg for a fork. It also pays to note prior reviews. The ice cream machine has been out for more than 4 months, and I think it has been years since this place received a good review. Management needs to do something or be prepared to close the doors. The management reply of write to our social group is not working. You lost another customer. From the looks of the place not many left.
