The food is phenomenal. I grew up in an Asian area and usually the asian food in the DMV is just ok. But Chef Lees is VERY authentic chinese food. I liked the varying flavors (from spicy sichuan, to more mild flavors like cucumber). I liked that the food was overly salty or oily like most chinese places. It was super busy on a friday night but Marcie and Maggie were so efficient and great at customer service. We didnt have a wait to get seated and food came out FAST!!! Service by maggie and Marcia were amazing. They were great at English and chinese. The environment was very clean. Maggie and Marcia were very attentive and great at recommending dishes. They truly made the experience great. We ordered the: 1. spicy chili chicken: more wet but a non fried option of chongqing chicken. Very flavorful. 2. Fish dry pot: my fav. Not too oily and I can adjust the spice 3. Egg plant with pork: delish and not too salty 4. Chicken fried rice: flavor was great and not too oily 5. Cucumber: i loved that its not too oily too and very balanced and mild flavor. 6. Jelly dessert: so refreshing and not too sweet. Prices were good and portions were generous.
Chef Lee’s Element is one of the most authentic Chinese restaurants I’ve found in the U.S. The food feels very close to what you would experience in China—rich, bold, and full of real Szechuan flavor. The spices are pronounced and savory, and the dishes have that true homeland style that’s hard to find here. Our server, Marcia, was excellent—very friendly, attentive, and incredibly fast. She made the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. If you’re looking for authentic Szechuan cuisine rather than the typical Americanized Chinese food, this place is absolutely worth visiting. I’ll definitely be back.
We ordered xiao long bao, spicy sliced conch, for appetizer. Chong Qing Chicken, grilled sea bass with silken tofu, Singapore noodles, and green bean with eggplant. They were all excellent with good portions size. Marcia the server is very friendly & attentive. We will definitely come back more often.
Great experience as always. The food was delicious, and the service really stood out. Jenny and Macie were friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. They checked in often and kept everything running smoothly. I come here regularly and will definitely keep coming back.
We came here a lot in the past but since the last time we came, the food was ok. Today after our regular visit nearby, we came by and wanted to try it again. The whole restaurant was renovated. The ambience is relaxed and clean. Marcia is so sweet and she is awesome! The food is another level!!! We enjoyed it very much and will come back for sure.
Ordered take out and loved the dishes! We ordered the zhong dumplings, chongqing chicken and boiled spicy beef. The boiled beef was definitely the spiciest, but the chicken was probably the tastiest! It was crispy and perfect amount of heat. Highly recommend this spot! Beware, the portions are huge, so order a few dishes to share!
We came here for a group lunch with friends at noon on December 24th. The interior decor is clean and cozy, and the seating is spacious. The service was great, and the food came out at a reasonable pace. The Grilled sea bass (spicy chili) was very fresh, tender, and flavorful, and it came with a generous portion of side dishes. The beef in golden sour-spicy broth was quite spicy and numbing—you have to be careful of the Sichuan peppercorns while eating it. Everyone really enjoyed the shredded potatoes with salted egg yolk. As for the Liangpi (Konjac Noodle), they felt a bit different from what we usually have; they were decent but standard.
The newly renovated restaurant looks beautiful. We came back again today and ordered the tofu beef and the beef brisket clay pot—both were absolutely delicious. The brown sugar rice cakes were sweet and so tasty as well. Maria’s service was outstanding. She always has a warm smile and made us feel so welcome, just like being treated as family.
Dining here today gave me a completely fresh impression. The restaurant is clean and well-organized, and every dish we ordered was delicious—huge improvement, 100%! Even though they were very busy, Maria’s service was still excellent. I could see her running around nonstop, yet she was always attentive and ready to help us whenever we needed anything. She is truly an outstanding server.
This was my first time here. It's a Sichuan restaurant, and the food was delicious. The ambiance was great, and I highly recommend it for meals and gatherings. The service was fantastic. A girl named Lily was very friendly and explained the dishes to everyone. Overall, everything was excellent.
This was my first time visiting this restaurant, and the food was amazing! Every dish was full of authentic flavors - the pickled chili fish, dry pot cauliflower, and spicy wontons were especially delicious. The portions were generous, and everything tasted freshly made. I also want to give a special shout-out to our server, Lily. She was super friendly and attentive, always checking on us, refilling our drinks, and making sure we had everything we needed. Great food, great service, and a clean, comfortable environment. I'll definitely be coming back!
My Chinese colleagues brought me here for authentic Chinese cuisine, and I've since fallen in love with Sichuan food and this restaurant. We eat here for lunch multiple times per week. Presentation and flavors are on point, with remarkable consistency. The staff, especially Marcia, are attentive and kind. I could recommend dozens of different dishes, but I must especially call out the dry pot style entrees (pick your protein - they're all fantastic!).
We had a wonderful dining experience here. The service was excellent — Marcia, Jenner, and Fang were all very friendly, attentive, and professional. Thanks Marcia helped my personal issues. They made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The food was delicious, and the overall atmosphere was warm and inviting. Highly recommend this place and the amazing staff!
Absolutely wonderful experience. The orange chicken was so crunchy! The garlic fish was so flavorful! The scallion pancake was so nice and crispy! All the dishes were authentic, flavorful, and served quickly. Our waitress, Marcia Fang, was outstanding—so attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend this Chinese restaurant!
If you love authentic Chinese cuisine packed with bold flavors and the perfect kick of spice, this restaurant is a must-visit! The food is absolutely delicious. The spicy dishes are bursting with rich, layered flavors. The spice level is just right—fiery enough to excite your taste buds but still balanced so you can enjoy the freshness of the ingredients. Every dish is well-prepared, beautifully presented, and cooked to perfection. The service is equally impressive. The staff are friendly, attentive, and always ready to offer recommendations based on your spice tolerance. Overall, this restaurant delivers an excellent combination of great taste, pleasant ambiance, and wonderful service. If you’re craving flavorful Chinese food, this place will not disappoint!
The food was absolutely delicious! Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully cooked. The service was amazing too! Marcia, Fang, and Janney were all so friendly, attentive, and professional. They made our meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this restaurant for both great food and wonderful service!
This place looks amazing after the renovation! The atmosphere is bright, clean, and super comfortable. The food was fantastic — everything tasted fresh, authentic, and full of flavor. You can really tell the quality has gone up a lot since before. Marcia and Janny were wonderful — very friendly, attentive, and always smiling. Great food and great service, can’t ask for more!
I had such an interesting experience at this restaurant! The last time I came here, a friendly and lovely waitress welcomed us. I ordered about 5 dishes, and in less than 10 minutes, she started bringing them out one by one. I was really surprised and couldn’t help but wonder — how could it be so fast? Could it be pre-made food? She smiled and said, “No way! Everything here is freshly made. If you don’t believe it, you can go check out our kitchen and see how fast our chefs are and how strong their fire is!” We all laughed and said, “Alright then!” All the dishes were delicious! Today, I came again, and the food came out just as quickly. The dishes are still just as tasty as last time. The waitress was the same girl — Masha — and I was so happy to see her again. The environment here feels very warm and welcoming. I really love this place and I hope to see the beautiful Masha next time too. Highly recommended!😘😘😘
Amazing food and outstanding service! I ordered the chicken gizzards with pickled beans and the spicy frog — both were so flavorful and authentic! Lily and Jing were our servers, and they were super friendly, attentive, and really knew the menu well. They explained everything clearly and made me feel very welcome. The restaurant had a relaxed vibe and was clean and nice designed.
I think this place has improved since the last time I visited. We were passing by and we decided to give this place another try. Some dishes were good, some fell flat, but overall, the experience is better than the last time we were here. Love the updated interior and they have better seating and ambiance. When we were here, there were people in more intimate settings. It works and everyone seems to be doing their own thing. Service could be faster, but the wait staff had to deal with customers and to-go orders at the same time so they were running around a lot. I think it's worth a try.
Well, well, well. I have been looking for this dish ever since Michael’s Noodles closed in Rockville. The dish is a crispy fried chicken morsel with a slight bit of sauce. Lots pf peppers and a heat that hits you after you take a bite. Lots of chilis(don’t eat them or your tummy will be very angry). This dish is not the typical Americanized Chinese food. If you like a bit of heat and authentic Sichuan Chinese flavor, you will love this dish. My only add for Chef Lee, add scallions to this dish please.
Good place for authentic Sichuan food. The dishes are flavorful and satisfying overall and the service is quick and friendly. Liked their seafood tofu and boiled beef. If you’re coming with a larger group (five or more), it’s better to call ahead for a reservation. Free parking is available in front of the restaurant. Prices are on the medium to higher end given the portion size, but overall it’s a solid choice for a casual meal.
