We had a wonderful experience at Mimi’s Cafe in Downey! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, perfect for our meeting. Our server, Darlene, went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Her attentiveness and friendly demeanor truly stood out. The food was delicious, fresh, and served promptly. From the service to the ambiance, everything exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend for both casual dining and small gatherings!

Darlene was my server really good server. I had salmon 🍣 mashed potatoes 🥔 and broccoli 🥦 with bread and corona non alcoholic beer.🍺. I arrived early around 6pm beat the rush hour for supper. It was a pleasant experience and service was great!! Thanks Mimi’s Downey,California Eric Anderson

Wanted a cozy dinner; this place delivered :) Love me some good potatoes and steak, just simple home-y dinners, and it was great. The ambience and how quiet and cozy it is really adds to it. Our server, Darlene was sweet and attentive, I work food service so I can tell when someone’s being real and who’s just kinda playing it up, she’s a real one, very sweet. Gave us recommendations and let us order as I’d never been here before, sometimes they kinda rush you, so we love that. Will be coming back because this restaurant is so simple yet so good, it’s all I’m asking for, cozy environment and cozy food.

We had a great lunch experience at Mimi's Cafe. It has a great "home" atmosphere. The onion soup is heavenly. It has a rich, slightly thick Broth. The carrot loaf is so good and freshly baked. It pairs well with a cup of freshly-brewed coffee. Barbara Ann is an amazing and caring server. ❤️

This was our first visit to this establishment, and we found it to be nice and cozy with excellent customer service. I ordered the Hibachi Salmon with vegetables and rice, while my wife chose the Walnut Salmon plate with spinach, broccoli, and a baked potato. Our salmon was cooked perfectly, and the vegetables were fresh and delicious. We will definitely be back again to taste their other items.

This was my first visit to a Mimi's Cafe. I had dinner here with my wife. It was not too busy when we arrived (around 6:30pm) with three groups ahead of us in the waiting area but we were all seated within 10 minutes. I absolutely loved the decor and the staff were all very welcoming and friendly. I chose the 3 course meal with a french onion soup, baked brie appetizer, jambalaya on long grain rice and bread pudding for dessert. My wife had the roasted half chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. The Jambalaya was the best I've had in a few years and the bread pudding was warm and so delicious, and the portion large enough that my wife and I were able to share it together which made it even more special. The waitress was very attentive and helpful and brought us several refills for our drinks. Our total for all of this was around $60. I can't wait to come back again and try some of the other menu items. If you love delicious food and amazing service in a beautiful setting, this place is for you.

Friendly, fast and still yummy as I remembered it. I had a craving for French onion soup and I immediately thought of Mimi's. Went to the one in Downey. Was seated immediately and ordered way more than I should eat but it was all delicious. Warm carrot raisin Madeleine with whipped butter. Hot, tender pot roast and rich chocolate cake. The host and my waitress was prompt, friendly and attentive. Darlene also told me the specials , promotions, and refilled my drinks when it was about to be empty. I really enjoyed the food and experienced today. Means a lot for a Monday with a 70 minute commute. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

The service really wasn’t great. There was a language barrier, and it didn’t feel like the server tried to understand what I was asking. When I had questions about the food, he would just say yes instead of actually answering. I ordered my egg over medium but was served a raw egg. When I mentioned it, they brought me a plate of egg whites with a small piece of a random green vegetable in it. The food I ended up eating did taste good, they served me three different flavored pancakes. One of the pancakes tasted yuck because it had cream cheese on it but that wasn’t what I ordered either. It seemed like the server was just agreeing to everything without actually understanding, and nothing was ever confirmed. Overall, it was a frustrating experience. Also the plate was $20.

My mother was craving a French Onion so we decided to go to Mimi’s . It was the worst experience !!! Our waiter Daniel was one of the worst waiters I have ever had eating out at restaurants!!! Once we ordered our food Daniel did not tell us there wasn’t any Onion Soup until he was bringing bread ! We decided to order Hamburgers and when he brought the food the burgers were horrific !! The meat was dry and the plate had little fries in it ! For $17.99 I could have gotten a better burger at In-N-Out! I can see why Mimi’s Cafe is so empty now . The food is horrible ! Daniel never stoped by our table to ask if our food was good nor asked us for drink refills ! It is a waiters job to service customers and Daniel did not do that! To the manger of the Downey Mimi’s Cafe please train your waiters to do better than this !
