I had a taste for some shrimp fried rice, that's why I stop at Hong Kong Express. First time here, there was a little line but the service was quick. I ordered fried rice, vegetables and orange chicken. The food was very good and I will be visiting again.
Best local Chinese food! Their portion sizes are pretty big and the food is bomb. The ladies are always nice and quick to serve you. The place is consistently being cleaned and they are always bringing out fresh food. Recommend the jalapeño chicken, fried rice, and the wonton noodle soup. Plus they have great prices 😊
Love the rice noodles - best ever
After coming here for 14+ years, HK Express in Monrovia continues to delight me and 3 generations of my family every time. All their entrées are delicious and fresh, and I particularly admire the al dente steamed veggies option that counts as a fried rice / chow mein item. These folks ROCK the Chinese food!!
I have been a regular customer for 5 years. Every single time I come in the service is instantaneous. The food is fresh and taaasty. The I have tried one of everything the orange chicken is a good go to but the spicy chicken and BBQ pork is something I always get. I'm a cook by trade and it's nice to have a go to spot that I know will be delicious and fresh. BBQ pork BBQ pork BBQ pork is all I can say. And they really go through the BBQ pork more than anything. Clean as a whistle. Bathrooms. Cheap.. how can you not love this family owned spot. Easy A.
Come here for some good Chinese take out. The food is more ethnically Chinese compared to the other fast food Chinese take outs. They also fill up you box to the brim. You get more food for the money you spend. I would much rather come here than the more "well known" Chinese take out spots, if you catch my drift ;)
Great food. The chef has a great touch with his cuisine. Don't be afraid to try something from the menu. I've had the Mongolian beef......super delicious!!
Delicious food and just the right portions at very reasonable prices. Definitely recommended as a take-out spot. Bright lights and minimal attention to decor lessen it's appeal as a sit down restaurant but, then again, it's about the food and they got that right.
Been for a while real Chinese people and food.
i love the jalapeno chicken and dip fried chicken. every entree has its own unique taste!!! very different from other restaurants! awesome! now im hungry .
This Chinese fast food takeout is simply the best. Panda may have the name recognition but this Mom and pop's store certainly has the taste and the quality and the service as well as good pricing.
This food is awesome. No matter what u try its really good. Fast cheap nd delicious. Try it out. Also Tuesday its a bowl for 2.99. And other specials. Yum yumm.
The food was very tasty! Wide variety of choices and I ordered fried gyoza and got in a couple minutes and they were amazing!
I absolutely love this place! They're jalapeno chicken is the best! And on Tuesdays their bowls are on sale for 3.99 I think
Nothing beats this place, authentic, fresh, tasty, everything about it, perfect. 10/10 drink selection as well.
You know they always going to fill you up
For 11$ can't beat that !!! The food has a lot of flavor you can taste it in layers .rice noodles are new to me they were cooked perfectly and were very tasty
I'm so glad we found this place. Much cheaper and bigger portions vs. Panda Express ($$). The chow mein is fresh and not so greasy as most chow mein is (actually can taste the noodles) and the fried rice is not dry and hard but soft and fried. I really appreciate the atmosphere. Family working together and busy! They sound like their kitchen is busy. Their workers take a break from cooking and are hard working. I totally understand and am glad this mom and pop shop is around compared to the larger Asian foods franchises around. Thank you for the yummy food! Hot sauce is fresh too!
I come here every Tuesday for the $3.99 bowl special. I love the Jalapeño chicken and either one of the rice noodles or chow mein. Both are really good. The food taste fresh and not all greasy. The food also doesn't have that weird old water taste like most Chinese food places have. Also I highly recommend the taro. Overall Chinese food in this area to say the least

Can't complain about anything food was great and the service even better. I told them that it was my first time there and they showed love. There fish is good too
Been coming here for years, it’s the best Chinese food restaurant in town! The food is always fresh and comes out fast. My favorite from this store is the jalapeño chicken. They also have glass noodle, which I can’t find in other restaurants nearby. The prices are pretty cheap and the large smoothies and Thai tea are only about $5. There’s plenty of tables to sit at and the area is pretty clean. Definitely recommend this store for anyone who is looking for affordable fresh and delicious Chinese food!
Great customer service . The food is amazing. If you're on a budget, this is a great place to go on Tuesday.
I like the food. I love the different noodles you can choose other than the regular ones.
I love this place!!! Me and the husband were trying to find it, and we finally did! Seems like it's a family and they're great, very nice and kind. My baby sister drives all the way from the valley just to have herself some l. Sorry for the no pics. Maybe next time, I'll post some 😅.
Food looks very fresh, line was almost out the door but service was still really fast. The establishment is literally next to crumble cookies on the right side of the shopping center. My 1st time visiting I’m sure it won’t be my last.
Pretty good little Chinese Food spot. Portions are just right and the food tasted pretty fresh, perhaps the best part was the price point. definitely recommend the Jalapeño chicken (great flavor not spicy)
I remember when tray was 1/4 inch deeper. Now is thinner. So if you feel underserved put on a SMiLe and say " Could you add a little More". I always try different combinations. All items are fresh oft the kitchen. Give them a try you'll be happy. Spend the extra 2 if you taking home. I always get extra chowmein or teriyaki chicken they make great left overs.

Best Chinese fast food I have ever had! I would give them 5 stars but the men were serving today. They should stay in the back and cook! No personalities, the women are so much more friendly. Also I ordered egg rolls if they were fresh. They were not, they were cold! I asked for fresh ones and the guy handed me a dollar to cover them. No new egg rolls!😤 The women should serve!
So far everything is great except for the rice in the front. Order it fresh it’s better. My fave is the rice noodles.
I like this place because the food is good and the prices are good but I don't like that they charge .50c to use your debit/credit card. I would've given 5 stars if this place had a/c and if I didnt have to listen to the workers yelling at each other. But I will be back because the food and service is good. It's also clean and as my daughter Naomi would say "thas wussup"
It's good food but a little pricey I just go there 4 my niece 2 get some lunch 4 her I take ur lunch 2 jr. High school
I was prepared to hate it, but it was extremely clean and the food was good. A little more expensive than I thought but then I ordered the premium sides
Most Chinese takeouts are a three-star establishments, and this is no exception. I've had my share of Chinese American takeout over the years and only a select few got a four-star, and only one or two ever got five. Food sits under heat lamps here so I recommend going there between 11:45 am and 12:45 p.m. I went in at around 12:30 so what I saw was perhaps the best they can do. Now to the description of my experience. This place is inexpensive like most of them, but portion sizes are below average. No water was offered. The chicken Kung Pao had too much breading and mostly onion, celery with one solitary piece of bell pepper. Okay I understand that peppers are more expensive, but I wish that instead of cutting corners this way they would charge an extra dollar and make a more balanced dish. There was only one long dry chili and no peanuts in the dish. Their chow mien and fried rice were flavorless. They also charge a $0.50 to use your credit card on top of everything else We'll have to continue to go to Young's Gourmet.
Some food was good others not so much. Orange chicken was great and fresh. The fried rice was bland and the egg rolls were cold in the middle.

It was okay, I have had better. I was a bit thrown off with the slimy texture I got from the broccoli beef. Not extremely greasy like other Chinese food joints.
The food was passable the shrimp looked really good but it had a strong flavor of salt. Seemed like the rest of the food was quite over salted also. You get what you paid for

The patrons were courteous and polite. The food wasn't that good. Food just didn't taste that very fresh. Rice was a little to salty. Chow mein was a bit greasy. Unpleasant food.
Apparently renamed Hong Kong express. First time here...won't be back! Food quality is so-so, if edible; service with a scowl (maybe just having a bad day?)...certainly not very friendly...no free refills on fountain drinks (both Panda Palace and Panda express near my home has better service/food/free drink refills)
I was hoping for something a little more authentic than Panda Express, Sadly I chose this place… the rice is awful looks old, the orange chicken is pure breading, no chicken whatsoever, I chewed into a ball of crumbs!! The picture speaks for itself! Disgusting!!! This place should shut down!
Good for a quick bite this was a year or two ago. I was there 10-30-2021 and was very disappointed their prices have gone up yes but the worse thing is that they overcharge you need to check your receipt the gentleman that works there is not only rude but charge me 3 dollars extra this and has charged me extra previously. When I asked him for the receipt to confirm he said No, no receipt and started speaking Chinese to the lady there. I paid almost $20 for a one entree item which is $6.98 and a soup which is 8.39 the amount is not huge yes granted but they this often as I was leaving someone that heard me tell the guy that he overcharged said they always do but it’s cheap food. That’s not right for them to do that if they need to raise the prices to make more money they should not charge people extra randomly
This place is gross. The chow mein taste like spaghetti noodles with soy sauce and the orange chicken was just underwhelming. Anything is better then this place. The 5 star reviews are probably from locals with no real taste buds lol stop kidding yourselfs this is not 5 star worthy 🤮 $39.96 for 2 plates and 1 bowl a can soda and water. Rip off
The entire time we were there, there were people in the kitchen yelling at each other. Not a deal-breaker, but it didn't make for a welcoming experience. Once we got home with our food...The orange chicken tasted like fish (not even orange flavored fish, just fish.) We also tried the sesame balls and they definitely had been left under the lamps too long...the inside was rubber and the bread was tough. My husband said the teriyaki chicken was good, but I unfortunately doubled down on the orange fish. First and last time for us.
When I was eating, I heard the chef in the store quarreling inside, and it was very loud. The staff in the store didn’t feel the dining experience of the guests. This is quite bad.
Too much blackened burnt on teriyaki chicken. The pic does not show burnt areas well but just too burnt for my tastes so cut them out from chicken areas. The clerk needs customer service skills!! Will go La mein, better tasting foods and the best orange chicken!

I ordered chow mein and double broccoli beef, I got more broccoli than beef, shame on you, I won’t be eating there any time soon
I’ve been coming here a few months. Decent Chinese food, sometimes old and starts smelling sour within hours but that comes with the territory I suppose!! The one star is because I asked for a second sample and he told me I could only get one sample. I’ll pay you a quarter for a sample, it’s really not that serious. Lost my business over a piece of meat? Ok. Horrible customer service, but you can’t expect much although small family run businesses are usually better, this aligns with the Chinese food genre. Rude and they don’t care if you come or go.
Jan. 23, 2024. 4 pm. Well my first time here. Awful. Just awful. I was excited to try the BBQ pork. Over cooked probably for days. I cook my pork with the Chinese pink marinade, that they use and it’s Delicious. I buy it at Smart & Final. I don’t over cook it for days. It’s too bad they do this. They know they will get a bad review but the owners do it anyway. Do not buy. Very tough. Like shoe leather. Why not cook a little at a time and not over cook? I am shocked they do this, wanting a bad review. So I also asked for Chicken & Green beans. I got 3 small bites of chicken. I even said to the young girl I want some chicken, not all green beans so I thought she would respect me by adding more than 3 small pieces of chicken. She did not. She did not respect me. SO…..a big fat ZERO. SO….$11.00 for rice, green beans, 3 bites of chicken and maybe 3 bites of over cooked pork. Don’t do it people. Go somewhere else.
Avoid! Wanted to support a small business but this was absolutely disgusting. Bad quality food that looked and tasted like it had been sitting out for days and reheated. Not a single thing I ate was remotely satisfying. The noodles were practically grey. The egg rolls were burnt. And more expensive than other options like Panda Express.
My first time there, I was excited seeing how big the portions where but as soon as I got home and starting eating, I tasted that my chicken was burnt and just tasted bad all the way around and the bbq pork was so dry and over cooked, I think they just reheat their food and served it like that! Now I’m just sitting here at home with a stomach ache
