A really lovely restaurant with simple but tasty food and great cocktails. The staff is very friendly. It can be a bit noisy, but the setting is charming thanks to the beautiful view over the water.
Food (4/5): The hummus was rather very dry and not creamy, so avoid getting this appetizer. We also had the tomato mozzarella appetizer, which was great. The portion, however, is relatively small. As for the mains, we tried the burger and the cod dish. Both were really nice, especially the cod dish. The caviar, however, tasted a bit cheap. The brand wasn't advertised on the menu, so I assume it's a cheap brand. The annise side dish was also very interesting and yummy. The fries, however, were not the best. Service (5/5): The staff was very friendly and helpful with ordering. The food has also arrived quickly. Bonus: The view is really nice, so that adds a one star bonus.
On our last night visiting Dublin we wandered in Charlotte Quay because of the quay front location. Lucky us, we snagged the last terrace table available. This ended up being the best restaurant experience we had in Dublin. Pan fried cod, dry aged ribeye? Oh, yes. Perfectly cooked and delicious sides of sauteed greens for the cod and amazing pepper sauce and fries for the steak sauce were umami bomb delightful. The sun set and the lights twinkled off the water from the theatre across the way. All cool, but the best part of the experience was the relaxed and fun wait staff. I know this sounds gushing, but we loved this place. Get ye there!
First time there and I had a great impression about the place, service and food. We had humous with spicies, lemon and olive oil to eat with flatbread.. amazing.. the fries was very good, fresh (not the frozen ones) and crunchy... My wife ordered a tomato salad, like caprese.. delicious.. and I got the Tuna with avocado lemon paste and sesame seeds.. perfect combination.. The day today helped, sunny and light wind.. the view of grand canal and gin (Hendrix) with Irish tonic water just embraced everything.. highly recommended!!!
I just love this bar /restaurant! We had here one of the best cocktails in my life. It s stunning because they look really simple but the taste is simply unbelievable good. The trick is that you can't stop at one so you will end up having another and another. The guys from the bar were nice, helpful, fast and really friendly! This is my type of bar and I think it s nice atmosphere here. So happy that I discovered this place
Fabulous evening in Charlotte Quay. Wonderful welcome, fabulous food and a bit of craic with the charming staff, especially the smiling young lady from Mullingar who ably described what a Smokey cocktail tastes like. Great view of Grand canal dock too.
The food is sensational! My partner, his mother, and I went there for my partner’s birthday. The service was excellent, and the cocktails were amazing too. They even surprised my partner with a complimentary dessert and candle — such a thoughtful touch. We really enjoyed both our meal and our time there. We’ll definitely be back. We’re often there just for drinks as well, and all the bar staff are always great. Truly a little gem in this building. I only wish they wouldn’t roll the beer kegs in front of Charlotte Quay — I work from home and that noise always disturbs me (even my loop earplugs gave up 😂😂😂).
I love coming to this place every time I am in Dublin. It’s a great choice near my workplace. Lovely waterfront view. Everything on the menu is so fresh and seasonal. The pre-theatre menu is a great value for money. I love the burrata starter and seafood chowder is so hearty and delish. Highly recommend.
Super cool restaurant by the water in Dublin. They also have a bar which is much louder and in the restaurant there is a great atmosphere but also great food and really good service. We were a large group and they were able to take orders and bring the dishes together. Crab toast for first is great and the spinach gnocchi is unique and tasty. And the chocolate mousse-great
Another great meal here with friends before a show. The fish and lamb starters were really tasty. The mains were also delicious with a mix of fish chicken and my personal favourite dish of the night the pork chop. This was by far the best chop l've ever eaten so tender juicy and cooked to perfection. Great meal in a beautifully located restaurant right on the water!
On a cold and rainy November evening in Dublin, we wandered into Charlotte Quay, tired from a long week and craving a bit of calm. The main dining room buzzed with laughter and chatter, but the hostess, with a knowing smile, guided us to the sunroom, a glass haven overlooking the Grand Canal. The rain streaked down the windows, and for a moment, it all felt like a quiet escape. Our waitress greeted us with warmth and charm, the kind that fills a room without ever demanding attention. She had that rare grace, present when needed, invisible when not, and carried the evening with ease. We started with gambas, well seasoned and carrying just enough heat, though perhaps cooked a touch too long. The chorizo and manchego croquettes were a perfect counterbalance, crisp on the outside, creamy and spiced just right inside. For the main, we both chose the duck, and it was a triumph. The skin rendered perfectly, the fat glistening with just the right crisp. The fennel on the side was merely fine, but the broccoli our waitress suggested, a clever upsell, turned out to be the perfect complement, bright and flavorful. It seemed every dish carried a touch of brilliance and a touch of imperfection, like a reflection of the city itself, moody, warm, and real. As the rain kept falling, we lingered, too content to leave. Our waitress suggested dessert as an excuse to wait out the weather, and though I couldn’t find room for another bite, I appreciated the thought. By the time we stepped out, the rain had softened, and so had the day. A lovely meal made memorable by small gestures, good food, and one exceptional waitress who turned a dreary Dublin night into something quietly beautiful.
Beautiful spot with a view on the water. Well prepared dishes with excellent food. We had the pork chop, chicken schnitzel and burgers. As desert we had the grilled pineapple and the panna cotta. Staff is very friendly and forthcoming. Cocktails are great as well. With or without alcohol. Nice selection of wines.
We did not have a reservation but were able to get a table on a busy sunny day. The place itself is beautiful. The staff were really friendly and attentive, the cocktails were lovely, and the food was absolutely gorgeous. Our steaks were perfectly cooked and seasoned 👌 the price was good too. Would definitely look forward to going again the next time we're in Dublin!
I can’t rave enough about this place! The food was phenomenal but the service was truly what made this place stand out. The servers were so kind and thought of every little detail to make our dinner special. The mussels and cod were amazing and I also tried the shrimp appetizer plate which was also top notch. Great wine selection and the espresso martinis were the best I’ve ever had. Would highly recommend this gem!
We dined here before attending a show. Once seated we were offered a complimentary bottle of still or sparkling water. For our starters we had Kidney and Scotch egg. Very tasty! For mains, Duck and Riscotto. It was divine. Lastly our dessert was Raspberry mousse. Overall the atmosphere, staff and food was 10/10. We will certainly be retuning!
Delicious food, beautiful panoramic views of the canal and theatre, great atmosphere and good service. Will definitely come back again, the free-range chicken is very juicy and flavourful 👌🏻
You could tell the place was popular from the offset. I managed to be 45 minutes late to my original booking and 20 minutes late to my amended one (no excuses, but it was a VERY rough day 🙃). However, like the popularity, the exemplary service was evident from the very start. The lovely lady I spoke to to reschedule (I believe the general manager?) even suggested I push the amended reservation out to 6:30 and I insisted it would be too late because I had a show at 7:30... then proceeded to arrive even later than 6:30...🙃 Yet despite ALL this, the service was FLAWLESS. I was greeted by name by the lady I'd spoken to over the phone before even introducing myself, quickly seated in a location of my choice and immediately brought the menus. Another lovely waitress then told me her manager had said I was tight on time and suggest I go with some starters and ensured the food would be with me ASAP. Not one lie was told! The food was to my table no more than 10 minutes after I'd ordered and it was scrummy! The aioli was the stuff of dreams for garlic-lovers; thick, creamy, and so loaded with garlic is was almost spicy. Could have bathed in it (but then I REALLY would have been late for my show!). Every detail was taken care of and every member of staff I spoke to was so genuinely warm. It sounds silly, but after a day (week) from hell, it was beyond touching. I very nearly cried into my chips! So thank you Charlotte Quay for the amazing experience! Thanks to you all I got to my show with plenty of time to spare! Between the delicious food, perfect atmosphere and 6-star service, this has not only become my favourite restaurant in Dublin, but one of my standout experiences of all time. Goes without saying, but HIGHLY recommend!
Convenient pleasant location, with a variety of food options, though you should probably book in advance if you hope to get a table.
Our dinner here was honestly the highlight of our stay in Dublin. The staff was beyond friendly and the positive work environment was evident from the excellent service to the fantastic food. My husband is dairy and gluten free and the chef went above and beyond to provide a delicious meal for him… even checked on us personally to make sure he enjoyed it! The Chef was so friendly, in fact, when informed we’d bought him a drink as thanks, he bought our dessert in turn and created a fruit dessert that my husband was able to enjoy! 10/10 recommend! Beautiful views of the city and water as well!
By far the best place to eat in the Grand Canal dock area. Excellent food, sensational service, great cocktails, good wine list, nice view over the water. I simply can not fault it. Do yourself a favour and have a meal here, you won't regret it.
Perfect location for a date (as well). The venue looks very good and the view is beautiful. There is a bar and a restaurant section. Staff members are very nice. Food is delicious. If you want to go there by car, then you should know that, to find a parking space might be hard and there is no parking possibility beside the venue. But you can go there by boat/yacht and you can park with that right beside the venue. The best would be to get the by walk (after you got off from the bus/tram or taxi). You can access to the venue with a wheelchair as well (even if you come with your boat) and they have disabled toilet as well.
Gorgeous establishment with excellent food, drink and staff. I was lucky enough to meet Rickie, Oliver and Olivia (I believe). Have the Burrata if exquisite flavorsome meat and soft cheese are your thing, and the house cocktail flo and basyl is incredible. Also the location is exceptional. Enjoying a cheese board right now. Never reviewed anywhere before while still eating the meal. Maybe I'll start a movement.
I can honestly say one of the best dishes I have eaten (the feather blade). It’s not a cut I am familiar with in the USA but would be the equivalent of a chuck roast possibly. But so tender. Fall apart tender. Plus the mushrooms and bourginion sauce. Lovely atmosphere near the theatre. Highly recommend. Well done chef!
Went for dinner with some giants we all were utterly surprised! My friends had beef, burger and salmon and they all were super happy with their disshes. I had the vegetarian celeriac dish and it's the most amazing vegetarian option I've ever had... Desserts were also just amazing and after dinner we went to the bar for a lovely coctel. The atmosphere was really fancy but the prices were more than reasonable! Last thing, the staff was lovely and really helpful. Definitely coming back soon!
We have been here for lunch on a Sunday. Great service, good drinks and tasty food!
Wow!! What a wonderful gem in the Dublin! Absolutely amazing service, food, ambiance! It was so wonderful that we went twice in three days. Highly recommended!
Lovely staff, we were well looked after. The food came for all of us, a group of 6, at the same time. The location, service, food, drink and staff are brilliant.
This is absolutely a superb venue for when the weather is nice as it has a large outdoors area overlooking the docks and the canal that leads to the main river of Ireland. The food was nicely presented and extremely tasty. Unfortunately a lot of the taste came from I consider an excess of butter (my plaice looked like it was swimming in a couple of millimeters of melted butter) and of salt (this said from someone who enjoys salty food). Drinks were nice but there were too many that we asked just to be told "sorry, we don't have that anymore".
We ate here at a Sunday evening and the place was pretty empty to our surprise. The waiters were exceptionally nice and the cocktails were really good. The food was good but for the price I kind of expected something else. Good flavours and nice playing however! I think for the price there are better restaurants around. Nonetheless great time
We dined here before going to the Bord Gais theatre. We both had the mushroom risotto which was delicious. I had the peanut butter parfait for dessert and my husband had the cheeseboard. The staff were polite and friendly. Very convenient for the theatre and I think we will eat hete again
If it wasn’t for Conor this would be a one star review. We had a bit of a nightmare start and a very rude waiter in the main restaurant. The rude waiter actually told us the portions were so small that we ended up way over ordering. I will say Conor saved the night, he was super pleasant, very accommodating and made the night do a 180 and be great overall. Food was good and it’s a shame one person nearly ruined the whole experience
Delicious food, restaurant with view on the water. Work lunch, so we kept it light ordering one main. Short menu, which is usually a good indicator of fresh ingredients and daily preparation. The only improvement I can suggest is to give the guests time to finish their food or ask before taking their plate. For this reason I don't give 5 stars to service and atmosphere.
We ate here on an international rugby match day and it was very busy and a bit understaffed. But the staff were friendly and did a good job. Food was good as were the cocktails. Would be a lovely spot in the summer. We were reluctant to book a terrace table but realised when we got there that they were fully covered and heated so needn’t have worried. Good spot.
Epic food near Grand Canal Dock. Incredible flavours on the Gnocceti, Beetroot and salmon! Lamb Ragú flatbread was nice, the only negative being the flatbread was quite tough to cut through. Awesome service and cocktails too!
It is great buzz for drinks at the bar area. The bar food is great but portions are tiny. But i guess nobody goes there to eat really ;) on Friday night they had DJ, but way far too loud fir relatively small space.
A lovely place by the docks to have a couple of pints. Theres live music, great staff and cocktails. would have been nice if there was any vegetarian/vegan options in the food menu.
The food / value for money is the problem here. If you are going to charge 18 euros for crab in a brioche bun - which is a very weird starter, I have to be honest - then it better pack a flavour punch. Instead, it's just very basic. Given how fast the starters came out, it seems not much needs to be done to prepare them anyway - which always rings alarm bells. The main course of seabream looks good, but that's the problem - it just looks good. It's one of those classic cases where all the effort is made into making the plate look presentable rather than make the food very, very tasty. And again, if you're going to charge 32 euros for a relatively small plate of food, then the flavours should be singing off the plate. Is it awful? No, but it's overpriced and very ordinary. You won't be left impressed. In other words, you're not getting value for money. Staff, however, were great throughout the entire service and were really attentive and efficient. Would I come back? Probably not.
This restaurant boasts a prime, strategic location right on the water canal, providing beautiful sunset views and a cozy atmosphere ideal for a post-work drink or dinner. It is divided into two distinct areas: a bar segment and a dedicated dining segment. The menu offers a wide selection of food, which is generally acceptable but on the pricey side. Be aware that the holiday season brings intense crowds and high noise levels. While the menu has been inconsistent over the years, the good news is that the food quality appears to have improved based on my latest visit.
First time coming here and the view onto Grand Canal Dock is fantastic. The service was also very good and friendly. The food wasn't super great unfortunately. The starter of beef croquette were tasty, but the main of hake was disappointing. The lobster bisque didn't have much flavour, and considering it's thinner than a sauce, you'd really want it to be more flavourful since it doesn't stick to the food much (I wasn't given a spoon so wasn't sure if it was supposed to be eaten like soup). The hake was cooked okay, but everything else in the dish was submerged in bisque so lacked flavour. The dessert was poor - I ordered the apple crumble type dessert, and expected it to be warm like an actual crumble (it was cold). Definitely more crumble than anything else, but the crumble was rock hard and dry.
Not happy with my experience. Booked table month in advance for my birthday. I asked for a nice table upstairs. Due to a booking error on their end they no longer had my table available and they put me in the downstairs area. No table was prepared for me. Nothing was set up. As they could not give me the table I ordered they gave us free welcome drinks that were decent but everything else is not special. It is actually quite expensive for what you get and the portions aren't big either. The environment is also nothing special. I'm at the end I wished I would have gone somewhere else for my birthday
Guys. You need a refresh. I had to take a shower after eating in your restaurant. Every surface in the place is sticky and disgusting. The salt and pepper shakers are like the are covered in glue and oil. The bathrooms stink. The menu hasn’t changed in three years except the price has gone up and the taste has gotten worse. If I am paying €36 for a main course I expect the place to be clean and not feel like a dirty pub. Your staff are amazing and sound but I got the vibe that they are too fed up and in need of a change. Such an amazing location and used to be such an amazing restaurant but really disappointing lately. I am a local. I hope you read this and give the place a bit of thought as to what the next stage is.
