We arrived during shift change, and it took a bit to get our order taken. I did not get the street tacos ordered, but the chicken tacos I did get were okay. The tropical tacos my husband ordered were very good. The kids' meals were generously portioned, but my toddler was surprised (and not in a good way) to find Kraft cheese inside of her quesadilla rather than the typical cheddar cheese. My other kiddos were satisfied with their meals, and the wait time for our food was reasonable.
Beautiful place to hangout and have your dinner outside in the patio. The food were awesome. They serve with love and respect. The staffs were friendly and helped us to decide our menu (beans, gluten free, dark IPA, Ale, etc.). They have a pretty decent bar inside the building, you will enjoy your food and drinks there too.
I tried the Buffalo cauliflower tacos and was surprised by how delicious they were. My fiance got the enchiladas combo and reported that it was very tasty. The fried ice cream was the best I've had in years. With the perfect combination of ice cream, whipped cream, cinnamon and honey, we enjoyed every bite. Definitely big enough to share!!
Excellent choice for lunch. Tasty Tropical Tacos. Delicious sauce. Our vegan daughter enjoyed the Bean Taco. It was enjoyable to dine outside.
Came in here recently for late night food and drinks and was not disappointed. I was actually really impressed at how well this place did with both food and drinks on a busy night. The restaurant was pretty empty, but the bar was full. We were seated right away and our server was very friendly and attentive. The drinks we ordered were really good and the food was tasty and came in gigantic portions. Would definitely stop in again.
Great outside patio in canal park. The tropical tacos were delicious and the service was prompt and quick.
Regular texmex. Price reflects Canal Park. 3.6 cumulative review on Google be darned, they make the best chimichanga I've ever had. I come about every other visit to Duluth just for it.
We visited Little Angie’s on a lovely summer afternoon. There was plentiful outdoor seating with lots of space and every table had its own umbrella. We started our meal with their house made margaritas… a Coronita for Jeff and a Mango Boba Margarita for me! Both were fabulous, and each had a special touch. For lunch, I chose their fajitas (half veggie, half chicken). They come out sizzling on a cast iron skillet and are finished with a truly unique seasoned vinegar that makes the whole experience stand out. Jeffy had their Street Tacos which were fun, refreshing and full of flavor… and they came with a side of grilled zucchini, which was a special touch of summer. Our meal concluded with the arrival of an ocean freighter through Canal Park, and from our spot on the deck we could see the Lift Bridge do its thing and the top of the ship sail through. The entire experience was relaxed and refreshing - the perfect Duluth experience!
Amazing food. Best Mexican chimichangas I’ve ever had. Kid nachos was huge. Fries were world class and the seafood burrito was divine. Our waiter Sam gave us the best service. This is a must stop!!! Very family friendly.
Went here for my childs school event. Was seated quickly, the servers were friendly and polite. The food was good and filling. And if you have a picky child they have regular hamburgers with fries. Over all it was a good experience
Thank to Bartender Paul for serving up awesome margaritas, conversation and humor. He possibly talked me into Polar Plunge. Not really, but I'm thinking about it. I'm really looking forward to stopping back this summer!
The server was so above and beyond! So caring and gracious. Even the last time we went there they were so awesome. Thank you so much for Valentine's Day dinner. It was so phenomenal.
Nice server who did a great job! Beware service charge. Shrimp “tropical” tacos were not good…super basic, just shrimp and lettuce w sauce and fruit. Needed way more flavor and effort. Other food was good, such as guacamole bites, chips and salsa, seafood enchiladas. Nice to eat on patio right in the thick of things!
It's a beautiful restaurant located at a prime spot serving some really nice mexcian cuisine. They have variety of Mexican food options available- tacos, burritos, enchiladas, quesadilla to name a few. The place is situated at a junction corner with inside, deck and outside table seating arrangements. Enjoy the local city commotion whilst eating the food if that what you like! In the corona pandemic situation the restaurant requires reservation prior to seat and order food, you can check with the person managing the deck/outside seating or the inside seating option with the person at the inside counter. Everyone ia super nice and super helpful. Their speciality is variety of Margarita options and one should definitely try them out. Great for having lunch and dinner with family and friends! It is a popular eating place in Duluth and definitly worth trying if you are a tourist looking for a good food experience! Cheers!
Usually like clock work every time we travel to Duluth and stay at our "usual" place just down the street...it never fails for us to make a pit stop for lunch or dinner at Angie's! Back in September (2017), we dropped in for dinner. The staff there are mostly college kids but know their restaurant. They are quick, friendly and when things slow down are great "tour guides" for suggesting places to see and visit while in Duluth. The food is very good if you enjoy Tex Mex and the prices reasonably reflect the quality. The drinks...especially their margaritas are amazing! They know how to make them! You will not be disappointed, I never am!! The interior is fun and historical with many old leather saddles, rawhide ropes, woven baskets, old wooden pieces - like a ladder, saddle tree & pottery! There's even an original saddle that belonged to Poncho Villa!! Just remember that usually on the weekends, especially during the summer months they get very busy so plan accordingly if you decide to visit!
Cute Tex Mex lunch spot with amazing atmosphere and creative menu. Shrimp and Asparagus quesadilla is a great first pick. If I order it again, I would change the dipping sauce and ask for more jalapeños. Fun spot to dine with friend.
Fast service, open late, and overall good food. The longhorn burrito, queso and carnitas nachos were off the chain! The Santa Fe wrap was flavorless and the poblano rice was mashed and not that great. It may because we were in 30 min prior to the kitchen closing but I wouldn’t order it again. Love the music and the service.
Food was great! The Siraacha was a bit spicy but very yummy enchiladas! 10 out of 10! The drinks were amazing and margaritas are 1/2 off on Tuesdays after 9pm!
Always a great time here! We love Little Angie's, one of my favorite places to eat after Grandma's! The margaritas are amazing! The good is always good and large portions. I have never seen this place not busy so online reservations are recommended.
We were stopping through town with our children and decided to dine here due to the lively atmosphere and the patio. We weren't disappointed. The kids menu had many choices and some great healthier options and Brady, our waiter was great with the kiddos. He thoughtfully brought out watermelon for our 9 month old while we waited for the rest of our food, accommodated their special requests, and even surprised them with a treat. Thanks for making our quick visit to Duluth memorable!
We had high hopes seeing the festive exterior of this restaurant. The interior was also fun looking. The Gold Margarita was delicious. We were disappointed in the food, unfortunately. We each ordered the Chimichangas. Mine came with black beans and his were pinto. Both of the bean dishes were overpowered with Oregano seasoning. The rice was mushy. The Chimichangas were greasy. The chips and pico were delicious. The service was good. The staff was friendly. If they tweaked their cooking, this could be a great restaurant. I dislike spending $80 on a meal and being disappointed. Side note: we both suffered with heartburn after this meal.
Our server was great. Attentive. Our table ordered the tropical shrimp taco, black bean tacos and I had the Angie's enchiladas. The food came rather quickly. They have some awesome hot sauces available. Right off the bat, my enchiladas did not match the description on the menu. Angie's enchiladas are corn tortillas. Mine was flour. It still tasted ok. I was disappointed with the rice. Flavor was bad. Rice was mushy, and it had a strong cumin flavor. It was not the usual Mexican tomato base rice that you get. Even my husband agreed with the rice. His came with the grilled zucchini which had great grilled flavor, could be cooked a bit more longer. It was a tad on the crunchy side. My son's shrimp taco was good. There were maybe 2-3 small size shrimp per taco. A few more shrimp would have been nice. Overall an okay family spot.
We chose this spot based on Google reviews. Being from Southern California, I know fake Mexican when I see it. The first red flag was no Mexicans working inside… but hey we’re so far north, I’m sure they’re not in huge supply. Then, the 1 paged menu had a long horn burrito on it… it has BBQ sauce as it’s “wet sauce”… I’m a big fan of BBQ, so I took a chance anyway. I was curious. The food wasn’t bad tasting… but there are definitely no Hispanics in the kitchen either. At around $20/plate, I expected larger portions. My husband’s nachos were more like a large taco salad, and then his fajitas & my burrito were the smallest I’ve ever seen in any Mexican restaurant. So… definitely not what we were looking for or expecting. Total was $70 for one appetizer, 1 burrito, the nachos & 1 soda. 😬
Gluten senitive menu available. Service was good. Ordered chips and salsa, salsa was okay. Got 3 steak tacos, they were good and reasonably priced. They came with grilled zucchini, which was a hunk of zucchini grilled on one side. It was best when hot, but honestly I wished it had been smaller pieces and not just a big hunk of zucchini. My not gluten sensitivity hubby got soft shell tacos and says they were okay. Decently priced. It worked, food didn't cause reaction and was pretty good.
This is cool looking restaurant with friendly staff, albeit it was a slow start to order. The food is good at a fair price, but not the best Mexican I've had. I think it was just my choice and would go there again.
Food is mediocre at best. The service was average, maybe slightly slower - but they were busy. Definitely Americanized Mexican food. 🤫 The atmosphere is lively, lots of people, medium noise level.
Service was great, even for being so busy. Black bean tacos needed flavour; easily just put together ingredients. Those black beans, rice, and zucchini could have bean seasoned or even salt alone could have made a difference. Did take advantage of a gorgeous day and sat outside. Great location.
Ordered shredded chicken burrito and sat closer to the bar. Chicken burrito was dry and flavorless compared to Mexican in Mora. Loud atmosphere but we were Barside. Waiters were not rude however not seen often. All in all there are many choices in duluth I would maybe go here last.
Decent place for Americanized Mexican food. Little over priced food and drinks menu. Food quality average. Got myself a chicken chimichanga. Meat was dry and flavorless, fried in used oil which was bad. Only good thing on my plate was rice which had uncooked rice in it. Definitely not that great.
This place looks really cool and smelt so good from the street. We were not overly impressed with our food. It is Americanized Mexican food. The fajitas were very watery and the rice and beans had an interesting flavor to them, not great but also not terrible, in my opinion. The service on the other hand, was phenomenal! Chase communicated with us very well and it appeared the other staff wanted to do what they could to help. They all paid great attention to us and seemed like they are a great team!
I don't like to write bad reviews, but after last week's experience , I thought I should say something. Myself and some out of town guests decided we would stop and give it a try for the first time. I've heard mix reviews about the food at work. We ended up receiving the wrong drinks from the bar. We asked our waiter for some napkins after spilling some salsa and never received them. The black beans were all dried out like they had been sitting in a pot for some time. The rice tasted just like tomatoe paste and rice slapped together. The shrimp fajitas were bland. We had to ask two different servers to get some silverware so we could eat our food after it arrived. During this whole time, our waiter didn't seem to care about us or his other tables much. Just do the bare minimum and dissappear. Overall, it wasn't a good first impression. I understand mistakes get made, and places get busy, but when you normally get seated at a table to get silverware and napkins to start. The chips and queso were very good. We will probably give it a second chance, but not at this moment.
Although the service was pleasant and fast, none of the main items we got tasted good. Most were bland. Black bean tacos, chicken burrito, and the fried guacamole bites that I burned my tongue on. The rice was covered in a nasty green sauce, and the chicken in my burrito was dry. The chicken burrito also had small hard pieces in it I kept coming across and made it feel like I was chewing gravel and sand. The only redeeming item which allowed me to eat any of my food (mostly the pinto beans on the side) was the chipotle sour cream from the guac bites, but I still couldn’t even make it a third of the way through my plate. I even got a large piece of uncut bell pepper in my burrito.
Atmosphere was good, drinks were great and the server was nice. The food though came out fairly warm and like it had been sitting under the food warmers for awhile. I had cheese enchiladas which the shredded cheese inside was not cooked or melted. My husbands burrito was okay and also looked like it had been under the warmer for a while (beans were crusted on top).
Environment is good, food sucks, and overpriced for the quality. You gotta have all three align to succeed in the food business. Very very disappointing to spend $130 on a family of 4 for the poor food quality. Not authentic even to the slightest. It’s like my gringo grandma lost her memory and grabbed canned beans, cub foods stale flour tortillas, big box store tortillas chips and attempted to achieve a Mexican meal. She failed and this restaurant failed so badly. Photos to see what I’m talking about. Never again.
I really appreciate the great environment and service. Regarding the food, I noticed a few areas for potential enhancement. The flavors leaned heavily towards sweet rather than savory, and the beans were quite watery. Perhaps adjusting the seasoning and thickening the bean preparation could help. The burritos could also benefit from a more robust flavor profile. Overall, with a few tweaks, the food could match the high quality of the environment and service
Super slow service and food considerably less quality than years past. I had to have them remake my chicken fajitas as they were originally served unsizzling and room temp. No one bothered to ask again if things were okay, would not recommend. 100 dollars for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids. :(
Tourist trap, plain and simple. There is no way this restaurant could make it if it weren't in Canal Park. The rice (a staple of Mexican cuisine) was basically a paste. The street taco ingredients were so skimpy--even for street taco standards. There is no joy, passion, or love for the food coming out of the kitchen. We fell for it but won't be back. Save your money and hit up Taco Bell.
Waitress was very kind. Margarita menu was HUGE and tasted great. The food.....was so bad. Could have gone to taco bell and gotten better. The salsa was good, I will say that. Both of our meals were cold. I had the tacos. The ground beef and cheese was crispy and browned like they had been sitting under the warmer for 30min. The rice was HORRIBLY overcooked, like something you serve to people who need pureed food. Mind you we came at 430 and there was 2 other tables in our section. NOT busy at all. In fact our server said that she was being cut they were so slow.... Not only that but the prices are very high because you are in Canal park.
Quite disappointed as I remember this place being really good when I visited a few years ago, but something must have changed because this was not it. First, they seated me super quickly but it then took 15 mins before my server even walked by to take my order and the restaurant was not busy. I saw another couple seated shortly after me just leave because they also weren’t being served. Ordered a margarita which I don’t think even had any alcohol in it and tacos which were completely flavorless and lukewarm at best. The food came out in less than 3 mins so it was clearly not freshly cooked, my guess would be reheated. Also was never offered water, had to ask for it myself which seemed out of place. The food reminded me of cafeteria food from my middle school days. Only giving this place an extra star because even though the service was slow, my waitress was super nice.
We sat out on the patio - where it appears to be a congregation of employees sharing personal stories with each other and being on their phones. Ordered chips/salsa we received the bottom of the bag. They were all pieces no chips to enjoy the fresh salsa. I ordered the Steak enchiladas- I have never had such gristly steak - nasty it could not be eaten. The server never can back to ask how anything was after our meal was dropped except to drop the ticket - after seeing my plate dissected (I removed all the steak to further look at it) grabbed it and walked away.
The food was not good. I got a chicken fajita. It was $23 for lunch And there wasn’t a lot of chicken there was a lot of peppers Just didn’t taste right I don’t know the spice or whatever was on there just didn’t taste right and then the atmosphere was just blah. No happy people in there. I didn’t see anybody smiling we will not be back way too expensive and then when I used my credit card. They charged me an extra three dollars cause I used my credit card well 23 bucks for a chicken fajita and there might’ve been two bucks worth of food. The tortillas tasted like I was taking communion. It was terrible not not a good experience at all. Margarita was OK. Might be fun drinking there that’s about it.
The food here is sub-par Tex Mex, with ridiculous prices: $20 for a standard burrito or enchilada meal, for example. Chips and salsa cost extra, and the chips tasted like generic grocery store chips. The side of rice that came with my meal was green and was super overcooked; very unappealing. (The picture doesn't look very green, but trust me, it was.) My son's kids cheese quesadilla had cheap plastic American cheese that was barely melted in a tortilla that was possibly microwaved. Thankfully, the waitress was understanding and brought out chicken strips that, ironically, was the best part of all the food the 4 of us got. When it was all said and done, the grand total for 4 people for lunch was $90 before tip. Absolutely ludicrous for this area. Little Angie's used to be good, but now it's like the owners care more about $$$ than giving customers even an edible meal.
I went there for the first time with two friends. This was the worst Mexican food I have had in a while. We also had the worst service. The facility was clean. I ordered tacos, chips & queso, salsa, and a margarita. Everything was gross. My drink tasted like pure syrup. We were ignored by our server for the majority of our time there. He did not come to check on us. We had to flag him down each time to correct our orders. The whole experience was a nightmare. It took 25 minutes for our server to ring us up. I will not be returning ever.
Have visited Duluth a few times and have been wanting to try Angie’s, finally did and I don’t recommend. I ordered chicken fajitas because it said on the menu it was a “house specialty”. There wasn’t anything really special about them. Chicken was dry and there were 6 small pieces cut up. It seemed like the chicken had been microwaved for the 5th time before serving it. Onions and peppers were good, but it’s not that hard to cook peppers and onions. The food was just very Americanized. If you’re looking for Mexican food, look the other way. I got a side of rice and beans for an extra $3. The beans tasted and looked like they went to the grocery store and bought a can of black beans, dumped them out on the plate, cooked them in the microwave, and served them. The rice was mushy-nothing like Mexican rice-probably because they didn’t fry the rice before adding the water and boiling it. Chipotle has better rice than they did. Margaritas were good, but the food outweighed the drinks. Would recommend if you’re looking to be completely disappointed.also our bill ended up being $86 for a price range for a couple.
Beans are not rinsed. Fajitas were really limey cheese dip is like a velveta not the white cheese you get at a Mexican restaurant and it’s almost $12 rice mooshy like it’s sat for along time. Chimichanga was decent barley sauced salsa was very good soft though
You have so many options to choose from in Canal Park. Don't make a mistake and choose Little Angie's. The food was mediocre. Not great taste and not very fresh. But the food runner spilled fajitas all over our shoes and pant legs. The grease has coated my suede mukluks and they're forever ruined. The lady barely acknowledged her mistake and didn't offer a towel or anything.
The food was so gross! My family and I were extremely disappointed. The beans were under cooked, the rice tasted like it came from a box, the lettuce was old, too much cheese to try and cover up the taste, dry chicken and it was over priced. The server was the only positive thing that came from our visit. #kitchennightmare
server was nice but i sent a mojito back twice. bartender has no clue what they’re doing. i received bacardi with club soda and simple syrup with only two lime slices and mint leaves. nothing was muddled, nothing was squeezed, nothing was shaken. very disappointed i received the same thing after sending it back the first time. i let the server know i have in fact had a mojito from this establishment on multiple occasions and it has never been the drink i was served twice tonight. don’t think i’ll be back as we just stopped in for drinks and nachos and left pretty unhappy.
Food was not good, there were multiple strands of hair in my child’s nachos. My enchiladas were cold and tasted off, everything was way too expensive for the quality provided. The staff was very nice but I will not be going back again since I pooped my brains out afterwards. If you’re going to serve food like that at least put up a warning and lower the prices.
Server a+. Atmosphere, what you'd expect for a large commercialized restaurant. Food F. If you want food and want to feel ok with your dollar being spent out to eat don't go here. You can choose numerous other restaurants in the area that will be feasible food with dollar spent. We got chicken fajitas. Terrible. Chicken like rubber. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant where you had to pay an additional $5. For rice and beans to go with the fajitas. No salsa, no chips. If you want Mexican, don't go here. Money down the drain.
