All of the food was very good but the truffle fries were the best! I’ve tried a lot of truffle fries and these were hands down better than any others. Their Bloody Mary was also so delicious. The fish was cooked perfectly on both the salmon and cod dishes and the Mac and cheese was creamy and flavorful. I’ll be back for brunch soon.

This place has been around a long time. Typically, you'll get some good service here last night, with no exception. But sometimes depending on you know game day sis at the other things you know the place can be crowded but in general it's a great atmosphere you'll see in the pictures what it's like good service food quality is usually really up to Snuff my Burgers you'll see in the picture was a little overcooked I don't know what's up with that maybe someone needs you talk to a new cook that's in there I'm not sure. I ordered it medium rare but told her medium is fine, and that's what I got. I'm just saying, but don't let that detract you from the quality of the food, but if you're ordering a burger in the next week or so, you might want to emphasize, don't overcook it. Other than that, the place has always been an enjoyable experience.

Hubby and I came here with our best friend for brunch and by the time we left, we knew we wanted to come back. BFF and I hadn’t been to Beggar’s since our college days years ago so we wanted to see what it was like. The food and drinks were delicious and the service was stellar. We had Libby as our server and she was friendly, helpful, and on top of things. We will absolutely be coming back soon.

Visited on Saturday during East Lansing’s art fair. No wait for a table, but the servers seemed a bit overwhelmed. Excusable due to the event though. The brunch was simply outstanding. I had the veggie bowl and was impressed. My 11 year old got The King, which is basically a cross between French toast and bananas foster. She gave it 5 stars. It’s a little dark inside and feels more bar than restaurant, but not so much that it’s weird to eat there with kids. Overall, I say it’s one of the best breakfast/brunch spots in Mid-Michigan.

I love this place! I was referred by a few friends to try out the breakfast and had some time to stop by. I may be a little bias being a huge Rolling Stones fan but I absolutely loved the food and drinks. Callie was friendly and everything she recommended was great! Will now be my Sunday spot!

It's quickly obvious why they have been in business so many years and are thriving amongst all of the construction chaos across the street from them. The food is nothing short of spectacular. Delicious and impeccably presented. Service is spot on.

Love this place. The pork belly and Brussels in a bourbon mustard sauce is awesome.

Wonderful to revisit one of my favorite places to eat and drink from my student years at MSU. Still looks largely the same; stained glass light fixtures, rough, old timbers and lots memorabilia on the walls. Nice ambiance, good food and drinks.

Always a pleasure! Their mimosas are the best, and their Benedict selection is amazing. I am a long time fan, and was glad to return after not having the chance to stop in for a while. I was thrilled to find out that Beggar's is still top notch.

My Sparty daughter recommended this MSU classic restaurant. The food and atmosphere lived up to the hype. The breakfast burrito was amazing.

Recently visited Beggar's Banquet for the first time ever to have brunch, the servers were quick and friendly. The food was delicious! I also think that Beggar's should have won the chili contest earlier this year!

This was our first visit. We came for Sunday brunch around 1:00 and got seated right away. We parked at M.A.C. about a block away which is free on Sundays. The place has a great college-town bar vibe. The waiter was pleasant and helpful. The food took a very long time to get to the table, but was worth it. I had the smothered burrito which was awesome and huge. My wife had the beggars bowl which was also wonderful. It came with a slice of thick-cut bacon which was amazing. We will definitely come again. Many more interesting things to try.

Great place with good drinks and good food. Justice served us and she was absolutely great. Very friendly and attentive. If i were to get breakfast after a game day this would be the spot.

Had a Bachelorette brunch here and it was fantastic! Staff were very accommodating and Peter (our waiter) was a gentleman, and even helped us get a few photos. The two drinks I had were great and the French toast was incredible! Highly recommended

Came here with the wife for Valentines Day after not coming to beggars for 10 years and was instantly reminded why its so great! The atmosphere is good for either a date night or just a casual night hanging out with friends. The food was outstanding, and the playlist was perfect. Definitely will come back again soon. Dinner was so good, I'm excited to taste brunch!

Beggars banquet is the best atmosphere for college students or anyone who lives in the area. The bartenders are so knowledgeable and are great at conversing with anyone at their bar, and the servers are exceptional!! It’s always a good place to grab brunch or any type of food you are in the mood for, it always hits the spot! Will forever be a go to place in East Lansing!

Had an amazing brunch today. I sat up at the bar and my waitress made several recommendations. She was very attentive and friendly.

My girl and I went there for brunch. The breakfast bowls were just ok but the presentation was nice so Ill give a food critique this review. I had the Irish bowl with sprouts, egg, potato cakes, and corned beef. I ate the whole thing as the portion size was just right. There could have been more corned beef though as I didnt really taste it. My girl had the hippie bowl and it had no real flavor. The walnuts overwhelmed the dishes flavor, like a lot. This is fine if you want that specific taste, but my suggestion is to add some spices, even hot sauce didnt help the blandness... FYI too let you waitstaffer know what type of eggs you want or they come out dipping. I thought price was a little high for quality of food. You will have to park in a ramp as there is no real street parking... On the plus side, great atmosphere and friendly staff.

Great spot for breakfast, love the potatoes cakes and the corned beef hash. It’s never too busy and the staff are always very attentive. Great drink selection!

It was ok... wish there were more low carb options but I made it work. The yogurt being served in its container... on my plate was different. Would have preferred it be in a bowl with a spoon. I had to eat the yogurt with a fork. The sausage links were great. My Husband ordered soft scramble and they were overcooked. We liked the salmon patty benedict the most

I would definitely recommend this place, the food is really good. I got the Beggar's Bowl and it tasted much better than I expected. The portion size is also large, I couldn't even finish and that is rare for me. The restaurant style is kind of quirky and I think it's cool. 4 stars because the customer service was decent for my first time. I will most likely be back, overall it is a great spot.

Awesome brunch spot! Excellent drinks and food. The food was a little pricey for the portions given. The most fun part is you get to mix your own mimosas, and there are lots of cocktail options as well!

Nice brunch though it appears kitchen cooking is a bit inconsistent... My eggs Benedict had poached eggs that were fully cooked, no yoke while my companion had eggs that were runny.

Great brunch menu! Delicious and fresh food! Try the Kings French Toast, you will not be disappointed!!

This was a nostalgia trip. Still a great place to dinner. Great menu. Expert wait staff. Not sure why the toilet flusher is secure like fort Knox. Lol

The restaurant was busy when my party of 7 arrived late Saturday morning (11 am). The restaurant was very loud and I found it difficult to have a conversation with my party. Before we were seated, we were told it would be a 30 minute wait in food. Our server was quick with the coffee and water. She was very attentive to us. Most of the party ordered breakfast or a salad. I was told that the salads were terrific. My steak and eggs were just alright. In whole it was a pretty good experience.

Food and service was good. A little pricy but made up for it in food taste and quality.

Great service and food was great! I got their build your own sandwich on a croissant and the only reason I'm giving a four star is because the croissant fell apart before I even bit into it so it made it hard to eat. The server mentioned the croissants are made in house and you can tell, it was perfectly flaky and delicious. Service was fast and very friendly! Will be back for sure🙂

No bad. Got what we wanted, apparently a lot of history here, but it wasn't like over the top incredible.

Delicious food and awesome service! However prices are much too high for the quantity. Also al-a-cart for all sides isn't great. $16 for a sandwich with no sides is too much!

We are 60 somethings but not picky. We stopped by today for the first time. Here are our observations. No street parkinganywhere near, but there is a parking garage behind the restaurant. For my handicapped wife it was a long walk as the elevator/stairs are mid garage and the backdoor to the restaurant is on the end. Then you need to walk thru to the front to the hostess. It's okay if walking is not an issue. At least it was Sunday so the hour we were there was free! Nice interior with barn wood walls and beams and lots of artwork/posters and T.V.'s. Service was excellent (thanks Jackson. M). I had the smothered burrito with home fries $18 and my wife had the Hippie bowl $16. Both were good however they were both luke warm at best. We didn't complain but I would next time if it were the same. Coffee was $3.75 each so we ended with $44 after tax and before tip. Not an inexpensive breakfast by any means but we didn't go away hungry. We would go back and give it another try. Oh, and the table outside the server entrance (front room) had uneven legs and it wobbles.

Food was just fine, but WAY overpriced for what it was. 25 dollars for a normal burger. 8 dollars for a coffee, there wasn’t even real milk/cream. Our water tasted like dish sanitizer. The servers were doing their best considering, no blame there. Would never go back.

This place was ok. For the price, I felt the food and portions could have been better/bigger. With a name like Beggars Banquet we were a little hesitant but WOW - A Night at the Roxbury might be the best kept secret in this town. Whatever they put in that beer jam is FANTASTIC! Wife was impressed and the kids were happy. I wish the service had been more attentitive - empty glasses too long but overall not a bad experiewnce

Recent downturn in consistency of service and quality of food. Been eating here off and on every semester or so for the last three years, and can say there’s been a relatively recent downturn in service and the overall experience. They have quality recipes and good ingredients, but recently the quality of the preparation of the meal given the more conservative portion sizes has dipped. Reservations overwritten, appetizers brought out after entrees, and somewhat slow water refills were the lowlights of my most recent visit. The server—who I can only hope was new and/or nervous—came by with the bill three times before I was even halfway through my meal, and my date and I had only been there for around 30 minutes. To servers of all disciplines and food genres; customers do NOT LIKE BEING RUSHED. If we’d been there for like two hours I’d totally understand. But it wasn’t two hours, in fact our entire experience was about 50 minutes. It wasn’t even like the place was packed. There were open seats a plenty; which was the only reason we were able to get a seat due to my reservation apparently being lost or overwritten (I had digital confirmation, so I assume it was a simple bookkeeping issue). In regards to redeeming qualities, this place still has a great breakfast and brunch lineup, and agreeable atmosphere. Hoping my recent experience was more of a lemon than what the standard experience is today.

Booked a large table for MSU graduation. Food was a complete disappointment. They ran out of and rarely replaced food especially the pancakes, bacon and fruit. You had to ask the completely flustered server for any eggs, which simply never arrived. The carving station was nice, however I requested a steak knife for my prime rib, which also never arrived. Each time we went to the buffet, most of the food was sparse, at best. The dessert table consisted of a pan of what looked like apple cobbler maybe, and a tray of sad looking chocolate chip cookies. Where was Beggar’s famous chocolate mousse? No options for a gluten free guest. We made the reservation specifically stating we had two graduates in our party, and no acknowledgement was made. Beggars needs to step back and really access this service, there is much room for improvement. Frankly, at $45 with no beverages included I expected far better. Why were you cranking loud rock music from 15 years ago? You used to have it together, Beggar’s Banquet, sadly that day has passed.

The food was alright, but it didn't justify the cost. The fish and chips, priced at $26, had too much breading on the fish, and the flavor was mediocre. The coleslaw was particularly unappetizing. While the fries were decent, they weren't enough to make up for the high price. Had I not known the cost beforehand, I would have estimated it to be around $12.99 for the fish and chip dinner. As for the Mac and Cheese, priced at $14, it was dry and lacking in flavor. However, I must commend them for their creme brulee, which was the highlight of the meal at $7.

Service was not bad. Everything else was so mediocre that I wanted to laugh, but the price point was NOT funny. I used to come to this place back in college and I am sad to say it probably won’t be around for much longer. What happened to the prime rib? The scallops? The olive burger?? The dinner menu looks drastically different from what I remember just 3-4 years ago. Beggars used to be a relatively “fancy” sit down place, now it feels like a sports bar. They must have gotten new management or something but whatever it is, it sucks.

My party of 8 and I were truly disappointed in the quality of the food and drinks we recently received at Beggars Banquet. The salmon was over cooked, the drinks were watered down. They were out of beef and potatoes. To top it off, one individual in our party got food poisoning from the sandwich they ate. Definitely not the restaurant it once was.

S

Terrible food every single thing except the fries and fish for a table of five. Burned meat, completely dry pasta. Steak dish missing potatoes, soggy sprouts, whole orders missed, Orders brought out with the wrong sauce on a sandwich (mother in l aw asked for no mustard) several 86 items. Stick to deep fried if you can’t be talked out of it

I really don't like to leave negative reviews, but Begger’s Banquet failed us big time last night. I made dinner reservations months ago for a graduation dinner, 3 hours ahead of the ceremony for 18 people. We ended up having to cancel our order because more than 2 hours after getting to the restaurant we still hadn't been served. The manager finally explained that it was taking them more than 70 mins to an hour and a half to turn orders around. I know that restaurants struggle these days with staff, but I really thought I planned ahead. My son had to eat a burrito from 7-11 in the car on his way to the ceremony and everyone else was left to scramble for food. As the host, I was embarrassed and frustrated (although everyone assured me they were fine and knew it wasn't my fault). It was a disappointing start to a big evening.
