Beat Chinese food I’ve found in the entire east side of Syracuse…I come from Long Island where Chinese places are plentiful but up here in Syracuse, it’s hit or miss. This place offers the closest possible to the best I’ve had down in the NYC area.

I love Chengtu! The order turnaround times are very quick even during rush hours, the portions are generous, and the customer service is great. We've been ordering takeout from them for 6 years now.

We have been getting take out from Chengtu for 20 years and have never had a complaint. Always good food with generous portions. Never been disappointed. The owner is always friendly and very accomodating. The boys are now grown and involved also. Great place for chinese food.

My bf and I stumbled across this restaurant when we were driving across Syracuse to Buffalo. We ordered Moo Goo Gai Pan and Singapore Fried Rice Noodles. Both items were made from scratch, very fresh and flavorful. The food was ready in under 15min. The most memorable moment was the owner (the chef) coming out to greet us personally and asked us how the food was. He was very welcoming, and friendly, which is hard to find these days. In fact, he was so kind that we decided to go back and eat there again 3 days later on our return trip. If the owner is reading this, thank you for your hospitality and kindness, we will definitely be back again if we're in the area.

BEST CHINESE EVER. This food is so fresh and delicious. It exactly what you want when you crave Chinese take out. Orange chicken and sweet and sour chicken is what i usually get. The crab ragoons are always amazing. I live in B’ville and drive all the way to Syracuse just to eat here. LOVE THIS PLACE !!!

The folks at Chengtu really out did themselves this time! Easily my favorite for takeout in the central NY area. This time was even better than the last! Everything we ordered was perfect and correct. Excellent flavors as always. I'd give ten stars if possible! 10/10 always!

This is the best Chinese food in East Syracuse!!!. They make it the moment it’s ordered and it’s always hot when You pick up. My fav is the sesame chicken with plain fried rice, chicken is always Crispy but so tender on the inside!!. Food takes only 10 min so there’s hardly a wait . Never get stringy or mushy pieces. such great portions for under $10 and it lasts me 2 dinners. The rice is always on point!! Staff is very friendly and they get tons of business. I eat here once or twice a month and tonight is a sesame chicken night!!

Good food it is strange standing at the front door to order but it is the times we live in only thing I will say is the young man taking the order needs to write it down.

I'd go with 3.5 stars actually. I get it, prices have gone up, so they take out pork from the fried rice combo plate, but then it's $2.35 to add pork to it, just a few pieces? That seems high. Sweet and sour sauce used to be great, now it's watery, more vegetables have been added to dishes, with protein getting removed. Still decent, but not what it once was.

This was a telephone order and it was picked up in the store. However there's very little attention to detail on the interior of the sore and really lacks atmosphere at all. Chairs from the '80s tables from the '60s it isn't really a good place to eat if you're ordering it for your residence and picking it up you don't have to look like a 1960s atmosphere

Ordered the Chicken Chow Mein. The veggies seemed fresh and tastey. The amount of Chicked was small.

Ordered orange chicken and only ate the rice because it did not taste or look like average Chinese restaurant chicken on the inside plus the orange sauce was thick like syrup and all around unappetizing

First time visit , small place with one table, mostly takeout. Ordered and food was ready in 5 minutes. Generals chicken lunch special was enough for two people as it came with an egg roll or soup. Hot sour soup was ok , everything tasted good but a bit warm, not hot. Lots of people picking up for take out so must be popular. Staff was very friendly and having fun, singing while cooking. Not bad, just not great. Fried rice was perfect though. Also note a $10 minimum on credit card charges.

They are getting a 2 because of the customer service was great for a Chinese food restaurant and it was relatively clean. However everything else was absolutely out of taste. Ordered fried chicken, was supposed to get 4 but instead I received three. I had nyc Chinese food on multiple occasions so I know amazing ones when I taste them and this is nothing compared. The chicken was unseasoned, it was not cook right, maybe the oil they used is not ideal,I didn't receive a fork or spoon in my order. it was my first time there also, I wasn't told to grab a fork or a spoon upfront. But anyways back to the chicken. So this morning I woke up and not feeling too good, I know my body and I control everything I eat and know what reaction to expect from every meal. last night I had the fried chicken wings despite being absolutely tasteless, I wasn't going to throw them away,I sti ate them but woke up feeling nauseous. The general tso's chicken was also not up to standards. They really need to step up their cooking skills before someone get sick and they end up with a lawsuit. But customer service was good.i feel bad for the young man who's likely to read this and find out that his family can't cook... sorry kid.

Thought your prices had gotten high when I ordered 2 combo plates and 2 egg rolls...$37.43!!! Gave her $40 and yup..she returned to me $2 & coins. I took a menu and calculated it myself- was $27 43. I ALWAYS left you a tip too, but guess MY tip is to start looking elsewhere that is more honest. Shame!

Wanted take out Chinese for dinner on a Monday. Could not get anyone on the phone so drove there only to find a note on the door stating they will be closed on Mondays beginning in March....Yep, it was the 1st Monday in March....😒

I ordered 2 meals one of my orders was wrong.l called the order in and was yelled at even cursed at because he didn't listen to my request shrimp with vegetables nothing else l got a combo with rice and brown sauce that l can't eat so they took the food back and they resold it after l opened it at me house..

Here i called and asked that my food be ready in 45 mins to wait a half hour before making it. Just got my food its ice cold literally have had to nuke my food. Very bad customer service.

I wanted to like this place due to the "good" 4.3 rating. However, I ordered the shrimp w/garlic sauce and it honestly was gross. The sauce was very sour, almost like a sweet and sour sauce but not really. I wanted to finish because I didn't want to waste it, but there was no way. Whatever sauce was used, honestly was making me sick even after adding in soy sauce thinking I could possibly knock that yucky taste out but didn't work. Long story short, first and last time eating here....

Absolutely awful the chicken was discolored, the soup tasted like feet. In all my 25 years of living I have never had terrible Chinese food because let's be real once you cover it and syrup you'll pretty much eat anything this was an exception and by that I don't mean exceptional. absolutely disgusting save yourself the trouble and do not go here please, I know we never will again.

Been going here for 20 years, first time very disappointed, beef and broccoli sauce watery and tasteless, beef rubbery as hell. Egg rolls mussy and dripping with oil. Beef teriyaki dry and terrible. Cheap brown rice instead of white or yellow rice . Time to find a new place for Chinese takeout.

Absolutely one of the worst Chinese food experiences I have had in a long time. No flavor and improper cooking techniques. General Tao’s chicken was soggy and not a hint of spice or heat. Fried rice was very bland as were the dumplings. Egg drop soup was acceptable. I definitely will be going back to my regular restaurant. EAST WOK ON THOMPSON RD, you rule the area!!!!!!!💕

I think COVID has given this place an excuse to stink because its gone totally downhill. So they are now closed on Monday's. The same garlic chicken lunch combo with a soda that cost 7.79 in 2020 now costs 11.20. Extra charge for an egg roll if you don't want soup, $10 credit card minimum plus a 3% surcharge. Very little chicken, uncooked mushrooms, not very good.

I recently noticed there have been new people working here I feel like the food quality has gone down hill since the switch I ordered wonton soup and the noodles weren’t cooked all the way on MULTIPLE occasions so I’m considering switching after repeated attempts after these new people started working there chengtu thumbs down

We got shrimp lo mein, dumplings , 1 egg roll, house rice & crab rangoon. Lomein was SUPER salty, shrimp was junk thawed tiny shrimp cooked to rubber !!!! Dumpling filling also super salty, sauce for dumplings was just like soy sauce, SALTY, no flavor , no ginger, the dumplings were maybe half wrapper, half filled, see pic. Rice was just blah, no real flavor, just disappointing from actual Asian people, u expect this crap food from white folks cooking it, but this was just sad.

I heard him talk badly about us on the phone in a different language which they didn’t know that we understood just for him to come back and say to bring the food back to get a refund. I couldn’t imagine if they had ended up reusing it. Although, there’s two ladies that work upfront are sweethearts, it’s time to find a different place.

No lo mein - yes, i paid for it - and there was no rice. i don't know if they never give any rice or if we simply didn't get any. There were two fortune cookies. Packaged sauces, like duck sauce and soy sauce, were available to pick up on the way out. Lunch portion size was fine but neither one tasted all that good. There was a lot of breading and not much chicken. The noodles on the side were mushy, overcooked and flavourless. We were very disappointed and won't be going back.
