El pato in edinburg is simply the best. Better cooks better service. Staff on top of it's customers. Food was awsome!

Best breakfast tacos. Their bacon and egg tacos are just delicious I totally recommend it and add extra bacon for .49 cents. I order ahead so they’re ready before I get there and still feel warm. I have tasted so many tacos in the area and so far this has everyone beat. Most places I gone there bacon barely looks cooked or their bacon it’s literally hard to the core.

Called in an order for pick up on my way home from a 12 hour shift . To my amazement the person who took my order was so upbeat and a real pleasure to hear after a very hectic day . Last week I went to the drive-through and one of my tacos was missing bacon. I called the store back they were very understanding about it, and offered to replace the taco. Today I was taking a day off of work and I remembered about the taco that they offered to give me. I actually lost the receipt so I called the store and ask them if it would still be OK even though I lost my receipt. The manager was extremely giving and forgiving. Not only did he offer to replace my taco but he offered a discount on anything else I ordered. At a time where people are so quick to take advantage of each other they were still extremely giving and very profesional. Amazing service.

I given a five star, even though sometimes they mess up on orders which is fairly common in most fast food restaurants, they always are attentive and have great customer service. Everybody’s experience could be different and this one is mine. They have a bar with free chips, kind of like Taco Palenque, I like that there is hardly any people there. Of course their food is not 100% mexican, since they do it a little of the americanized version, but it still close to the mexican white version of mexican food Update 2.4.2020 They customer service is really good And even thou they are busy it doesn’t feel like it as all the employees seem happy and always smiling It makes the environment enjoyable even while waiting

Love this place. Tacos are great. Usually. Sometime the tortillas can be a little off like shaped funny and small, but still fresh so whatevs on that, it just usually makes the tacos smaller. Pro tip id you like bacon and eggs anytime. This place is great for that! Any breakfast one I'd say cause those tend to be made to order after breakfast hours and they usually load them up! I've even thought about buying a couple of extra tortillas when I buy two cause then I'd end up with 4 nice tacos. Usually just order drive thru, but they have a nice dining area as well. Great prices for everything. And the other food besides breakfast is always good too. These guys have been around forever and that's for a reason!

If your ever in the area you definitely should stop by and grab some tacos. The staff was very helpful and quick. We went in with 15 family members and only waited a short time for our food. The tables were clean, plenty of drinks... restroom was a little dirty but not as bad as some in the area. I will definitely eat here again, and recommend to everyone I know!

The fact that this man reaches out to try to help even when there is nothing to gain shows that this man is ontop of things. 3 stars for customer service and 4 stars for food flavoring and quality. The only reason this one does not have 5 is because of speed. When i went to pick up food at drive through there was only one car ahead of me and it still took 15 minuets to eventually get the food. No place is perfect but would recommend on low traffic hours Old review: Called 3 times trying to place an order. They pick up and say thanks for choosing el pato then ignore you or hang up. Why have a order by phone option posted outside your business when your not going to take orders by phone, or even give customers the attention required for communication? Two star because the food is good but man this service was horrible.

I've never had a problem, but then I tend to keep my orders simple. I love their potato and egg patos and the root beer is always super sweet. Service does take a bit longer than other fast food places, but then they're making your food from scratch and I don't think it's REALLY a fast food chain. It might be a "convenient" food chain since you don't have to leave your car, but it's also no McDonald's.

It was great food but the customer service was not great. It may have been lacking because of short staff and/or I went during their rush hour. But then again, being in this business, it should not matter what is going on. It doesn't excuse being rude to a customer.

Spectacular! Superb! My daughter and I really enjoyed going to El Pato for dinner. Her kid's meal was very generously served. She liked her food. My patos were packed as well. I really love pato as a restaurant and have been to many of them. I order what I usually get a regular bean and cheese taco for lunch. I ordered 3, but the beans had little to no flavor and that was weird for me. All the other patos I've been to their beans taste very good. I've been here three times and they taste quite bland. 4 out of 5 for fast and friendly service.

The place is good, but the manager is rude to his employees and blames them for his own mistakes, the employees need someone else as a manager, he's unprofessional shouting across the dinning area to his employees, something needs to be done about this, the employees are doing their best and some of them have been there longer then him.

While visiting Edinburg for their City parade, I visited El Pato for dinner. I ordered their carne guisada with avocado. As usual they were very good. The restaurant is supported by friendly staff and clean rest rooms.

What can I say? This place is definitely on point for breakfast! I honestly can't remember a bad meal from here. Food is always hot and delicious! The only gripe I have is that their meat has alot of fat and gristle at times, but the flavor is great. I don't want to pay for just fat and gristle, though. But the price to food portion is wonderful! You definitely get what you pay for and more! We will be back!

We'll structured menu for nicely prepared made to order Mexican food. Service is a bit slow and you might want to double check your order before you leave but it'll get you a full belly without a lot of money. Salsa bar is great when it's fresh and a science fair project when it's not. Enjoy!!

This place has a weird menu but the food is good. They gave us some regular tomato salsa when I asked for hot sauce. I still don't know if they have other salsas. They call tostada's chalupas. I'm pretty sure it's a tostada. I will be eating here again to try something else. The breakfast menu looks pretty good. The prices are reasonable. The portions are pretty large and filling. They were very busy and the line went fast and the food was good quality. I don't love it but I like it enough to eat there again to explore the menu more. I recommend trying it if you haven't eaten here before.

The prices are good and the chips were good. I ordered a Gordita and it was very sad. A ground beef Gordita is just that, two thin màs discs with a thin layer of ground beef. No potatoes, so tomatoes, no lettuce, no cheese. It was like for a small child.

I took one beef taco with cheese and avocado and the another with cheese and bacon, both were tasty but the bacon one was bit salty. The ambience is good, really nice decoration and the stuffs are well behaved.

Can't complain, overall decent service. Carne guisada is always good. Portion size has seemed to shrink ever so slightly over the years, but almost unnoticeable. This appears to only be so on the meat portions. Very sneaky! Still good quality. I miss the 80's & 90"s. Ingredients and food quality seem to be about the same, very good. The tortillas are nearly identical only difference is they are not as soft, but this is being very critical. Still some of the best flour tortillas you will find anywhere hands down. Drive thru seems to be a little slow, for this reason (3 stars) otherwise I would say 4.

We have been in the RGV for a month and half now and were amazed at the long drive thru line at El Pato that we were seeing. Even saw police vehicles eating there. Being a retired police officer that was a tip for us to try El Pato. We have had so much wonderful Mexican food since we got down here I have to be honest the food at El Pato was underwhelming. We both got the assorted plate to try multiple dishes and we both agreed the best item we had was the chicken enchiladas. Maybe our expectations were too high but, the portions are awesome for the price.

I came in a quick & desperate search of breakfast tacos! It was only my first day in the area- I ordered the party pack of 12 tacos. A bit overpriced, and the wait took longer than expected, but the cashier was nice. Then again, it was a Saturday morning... I'll try again because they were tasty!

Although the staff is friendly and the food is good. the drive through is one of the slowest I have ever experienced in the RGV. I have lived in this city for 15 years and the drive through experience is very, very limited. You can expect to wait at least 20 min in line. Plus, if you get your food before the person in front of you, you're stuck in the line until they get their food and leave. This place could use some efficiency in the drive thru. If you eat in, the seating area is very nice and clean. The service inside is good too! I wish I could rate this location higher, but feedback is necessary for improvement.

The buffet is always empty. You constantly have to be asking them to fill it up. I do recommend one thing they should do to the salad bar and it's that they should add pineapple chunks and chopped ham. It's not like if they dint have any in stock. They use it on there pizza. A few weeks ago I purposely waited until it opened so I could have fresh tacos. It wasn't until I arrived home that I realized 5 out of 7 of our tacos were not at all fresh. You could tell the eggs were old and reheated as well as the potatoes. I was very disappointed, to say the least. Food should never be reheated and sold the next day. If I wanted leftovers I'd eat at home.

I grew up eating here. Food quality has decreased. They charged me for white cheese, didn't have any twice. Did not even address the price difference although they made sure to mention it when I ordered. Tortillas were old tortillas.

I was told this place was on Texas Monthly magazine (Brownsville location) but assumed they would all be a good choice. Wrong! I thought this was an authentic Mexican restaurant and it was more of a Taco Cabana type where you order your food at the counter. The cashier wasn't friendly or helpful. I traveled from Houston and was was disappointed with the food. The only thing that was good was the homemade tortillas. The rice and beans looked like yesterday's leftovers and the fajitas were blah. This is a big NO go!

Drive Thur was supper slow I was in line for 40 minutes until I got my order. Abigail was slow in the drive Thur she give me my order and then took another 4 minutes to give me my drink.

Maybe it was the end of the day but ordered beef guisada plate to go. The plate was basically rice beans and very little carne guisada. The tortillas that came with it were cold and hard as a rock. I really like the food here normally but today was a big miss.

Ive been coming to this particular store on University in Edinburg when UT was still Pan American. Back then the food was hot, flavorful, and bigger than life. It was an outstanding place for a starving student to get a "Pato". But i cant even remember what that is now.. After over 20 years I feel El Pato is running on reputation vs quality. There is not passion and aside from the excellent service the place seems rundown and mediocre. There are better places to eat.

I ordered at the drive through. Transaction was quick and seamless. Halfway to getting home I picked up the bag and the bottom was soaked through and there was still more guisado juice that spilled on my shirt, phone and my spouses car. When I got home (we live 7 mins away) the tortillas were soaked through and mushy. I ordered chicken guisado with guac. There was only a tiny schmear of guac on the tortilla which was unnoticeable once the pato was eaten. My spouse suggested calling but I was so over it. The red salsa they gave me was a joke. They looked previously used. One was basically empty and the other had crusty salsa all over the container. Good thing I asked for salsa verde cause I prefer that one anyway. The flavor was good but everything else needs improvement.

We ordered online and picked it up to eat at home. We normally have good experiences with El Pato, not today. The Buenos Nachos with fajita were very disappointing. The beans and cheese were almost nonexistent. It was a plate with fajitas and chips. The fajitas were there and flavorful, but maybe would be better served cut into smaller chunks for nachos.

I love the food,the customer service is the worst ever. We waited half an hour to get our food. Mind you ,we ordered 8 tacos and it took the 3 cooks in the back half an hour to get our food out. I ordered from El Pato through Favor. I ordered three beef, avocado and beans tacos, I ate two out of the three tacos and they had alot of fat. Those were the worst tacos I've ever had from El Pato, I gave away the third taco. We should get what we pay for.

Waited in line for 25 to 30 minutes. Person who took my order told me that morning employees had all left so that is why wait was so long. I get home, I was given wrong order. I call speak to manager and he tells me he can give e a 10% discount in my next order??? I paid for an order , didn't get what I paid for?? Never again!!!

Walked in. There were 2 customers ahead to appeared to have been waiting awhile. I stood in line for 15 minutes and finally someone cones to line to take orders. Place order. She sets my card next to drive thru computer and walks off. 7 more minutes pass as they walk around and do other things instead of charge my card. I ask for my card back and I'm told I can't have it back she hasn't charged it yet. I tell her I'm not going to eat here. She still won't give me my card. I take two steps to get my card myself. She replies "I was just saying she hasn't charged you" White shirt was completely unprofessional.

The food is delicious, and 95% is of high quality. On the other hand, their customer service is horrible! The lady answering the drive-thru is extremely unprofessional. They have answered with “yes” like they are doing you a favor for answering. The thing is that it’s not just one lady but multiple. In particular, an older dark lady is the one with the worst attitude. The lines are long and move extremely slow, and that is shocking since the food is pre-made.

Bought the family pack and they all came out with barely any food. Very disappointing

4:10pm only 2 other guest here the cashier is very serious and rushing us to order. The manager on duty has her face in a clipboard we ask for a high chair and says "they should be in the back" and keeps working on her clip board. The salsa bar is really low on lemons and salsa. Place other wise clean and the food was fresh and delicious.

I use to love their beef and potatoes tacos, but every time I order, which is once in a great while now, the potatoes are not cooked with the beef and potatoes have no flavor and they are cold. Also, the beef their serve has too much grizzle, which l hate. So, only when l feel to taste the tacos, l take a chance, but again I am disappointed. Sorry for this bad review because I miss eating the beef and potatoes tacos.

So my first indication of concern was that there were only 2 people in this location at 3:00pm today. Against my better judgement, we went ahead and ordered. My favorite item to order at El Pato is Chicken Guisado pato with lettuce, tomato & avocado. I ordered 2 patos this way and my son ordered a chicken quesadilla. Took our order a long time. But when our order arrived, I was pleased to see 2 patos that looked very stuffed. As soon as I bit in to my pato, I knew these were not the same quality as I've always known. The chicken guisado had a texture like ground beef. Oh well, I was hungry and kept eating. Opened the 2nd pato, and the chicken looks odd, not like deboned chicken that has been cooked in salsa. I took a bite and then just couldn't eat anymore because of the flavor and texture. As we drove home, my son said "you know, the chicken had a feel like canned tuna." And I thought, ok surely they wouldn't be using canned chicken for the chicken guisado? But that seems to make the most sense. Needless to say, I was very disappointed as El Pato used to be very consistently good food. Not sure what is happening, but I do know we will not be back to this location if any.

Horrible service I ordered 2 beef fajita botanas I even pre ordered over the phone. I was told it would only take 25 mins. So I waited in the long drive thru line thinking they would be finished. I've been here since 8:05 pm Jan 15,2020 ordered at 7:57 pm on the phone it is now 9:02 pm and I barely got my food. Little did the workers know I was watching them through the glass doors and they weren't doing anything but talking with each other didn't even look like they were busy. 4 cars left out of the drive thru line due to their inattentiveness and I would have never ordered it I knew they take this long.

Ordered nachos which the cashier got wrong, then drops my change I'm handing her under my car like it's no big deal. Then tries to tell me I have to take the order the way it is. And when I get home it looks like they just scraped it all together just to get the order out.

El Pato decided that its ok to burn tortillas because twice we've gad issues with our office order to where at least 10 out of our 15 pato order have burned,cracked tortillas. Complained to a manager but he didn't seem to think it was a big deal! No thank you then! Our office will order elsewhere.

My wife and I stopped to pick up dinner yesterday evening at about 8 p.m. I ordered a carne guisada plate and my wife had the chicken enchilada special. I was very disappointed with not only the quality and freshness of the food although the limited amount of carne guisada I was given in my plate which was enough to make one thin taco. It was mostly gravy and if I had two guess maybe if I was lucky about an ounce of meat. This is unacceptable and given the price I expected a decent portion. I eat at the 23rd st. Location often and have never been shortchanged as I was at the Edinburg location on University. In all I would have the opinion to stick to breakfast tacos as you can't be ripped off with egg and a filler.

I ordered menudo, it look like a week old. Very black and mushy. The tacos were awful. No taste. You need to hire more personnel. Especially on the weekends. Very long lines outside, so we went inside. It end up being the same , very slow service. No dr. Pepper , no creamers in the service area. I had to go somewhere else to buy fresh menudo. It was wasted money.

I want to bring to attention of El Pato on University Dr next to UTRGV. My wife, Army Veteran, was treating me to a meal. She asked the cashier for military discount and the cashier had to get the manager. The manager, Billy Dominguez, stated, "I don't want to deal with this." He walked away leaving my wife speechless and he didn't want to address her. I can't support El Pato for the rude behavior to Veterans and I ask all Veterans and first responder not to eat or support El Pato

Get here to order there's a line. Stayed in the line for 10 minutes till finally someone comes to charge ..poor girl on drive thru by herself , 2 employees on break ...no manager or person in charge to be found very disappointing come here for years ...but unfortunately the actions of the employees, represents the leadership of management..#noleadership

Waiting forever to get my 3 tacos and when they were done I was literally there staring at the bag that was already done and ready to be served. But I assume since they haven’t given it to me yet it can’t be mine. 10-15more minutes went by and they barely realize that my tacos were there. The ladies finally handed to me and I open the tacos up and they were so cold it killed my appetite. Thanks a lot for cold tacos. I’m telling my friends and family to never come to this el pato ever again.

Since ordering my food which ever female was taking my order was with a shifty attitude. I ordered 2 beef and bean tacos and one of the tacos was so sloppy couldn't even eat it. The chalupa looked like they just threw it in the plate.

This place is so slow, dirty and the staff play with your food in the drive thru and never get it to you. This place reeks of alcohol and should be avoided. The orders take so long and they're always messed up. The food itself is never correct and mostly raw.

We ordered a botano platter it.looked.luke I was given nachos. Everything was greasy. I didn't get the guacamole on top. Called them back and was told by manager to bring back. I got another order and was worse than the first one. Got very little beef and chicken more chips,.beans and cheese. The rice had no flavor and beans were old. Dissatisfied with the service and food

I paid $23.00 for El Patos - never again. Order was wrong. They aren't labeled and then they look like this.. I called and the kind lady said she couldn't return my money but offered a discount on my next visit. Wasn't worth the drive.... Totally disappointed. Totally disgusted...

Poor customer service food takes long waited 20 minutes for beans to come out.

The tacos have gotten a lot smaller since the last time I went there and they messed up my order completely and gave me a taco with really nothing in it most likely won’t go here again very upsetting

Lady at the drive thru window needs to smile .. third time this week I stop by this location and its always the same.. taco tastes good and drink is refreshing but employees need to smile and not make people feel like they are not welcome😞

Sadly El pato is no longer el pato . I use to love to go to this place and order the carne guisada with avocado and chicken and rice. It was the best and now its pure mush. It is flavorless , mushy , and just sloppy . Sadly nowadays its pure greed and poor management. If I could post my videos of food people would see the disappointment, so hopefully these pictures help . El pato is trash

Well flautas over fried and extra greasy. Guacamole was more onion than avocado. Lemons were old and salsa was flavorless. Extremely disappointed - won’t be visiting again.
