We visited this Turkish restaurant for the first time, and I have to say it was an amazing experience. The food was delicious, and the way it was served was truly impressive. The entire staff was very friendly, and the interior was elegant and atmospheric. A big plus was that the portions were very large, but there is also an option to take a box to go. We will definitely be back!
We had an amazing experience at Shish Restaurant in Edinburgh — and it was all thanks to J, who truly made our visit unforgettable. From the very first night, she welcomed us with such warmth and kindness that we came back three days in a row during our stay in the city! She stood out brilliantly among the team — not only because of her professionalism and friendliness, but also because of how genuinely caring and attentive she was. Although other staff members served us on different occasions, J’s service was exceptional and far above the rest. Honestly, our whole Edinburgh trip wouldn’t have been the same without her. Thank you so much, J — you’re a star, and we hope to come back just to be served by you again!
I had an amazing dinner here. The grilled dishes were absolutely delicious, bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. The appetizers were a highlight, offering a delightful variety of tastes that set the tone for the meal. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a great spot to enjoy a relaxing evening. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall experience. Highly recommend trying their baklava for dessert it was a sweet, flaky treat! Will definitely be back for more!
An absolute gem in Edinburgh! Shish Restaurant truly impressed me with their incredible mix grills perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of flavor. The meat was tender and seasoned to perfection, served with fresh sides and warm bread. The atmosphere was lively yet comfortable, and the staff were attentive and kind. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to return to again and again. Highly recommended if you’re craving authentic grilled dishes!
We found this restaurant through Google maps, got attracted by the high reviews, and we weren’t disappointed. We were seated to our table swiftly and offered the menus, the waitresses were very professional and hospitable, offered advice on the best dishes and their advice was spot on. Food was prepared in good timing. The food was well presented in good size portions, and tasted very delicious. Followed by nice desserts, the milk cake is definitely recommended. All in all was very happy with the experience and will definitely come back.
Amazing Turkish restaurant. If you are in Edinburgh, I highly recommend going there. The food is really good. It might seem pricy, but the price is worth the quality of food, ambience, and friendly staff. I have no complaints at all about the food. Literally a 5/5 and the drinks were amazing, all drinks are alcohol free so if you ever wanted to try out Wine or Beer, this would be your place! The star, though, was the starter, which was a compliment of the restaurant! The bubble bread was amazing and the walnut paste soooo good just thinking about it still has my mouth watering. The toilets were clean and they hand handshowers!! Can you imagine, a restaurant in UK having handshower! My mind was literally blown away by that. Cannot stress enough how good the food and experience was, so definitely eat out there if you are in Edinburgh. Update 13th of August: went there again for the 2nd time! That's how much I like the food there despite the higher price.
I am from Yorkshire and have family in Edinburgh, this is my 3rd time at this restaurant and the food is amazing, atmosphere and the young lady who served us yet again called Vere. She’s has looked after us before and her service and professionalism is 10/10. She’s definitely need to up promoted and always in a good happy mood.

We had diner here with no reservations. It was very nice. The mocktails were very nice. We had the large 2 person mixed platter. The lamb cutlets were too well done for our taste but the rest was good. For dessert we had the trilece but it more a dry cake then wet milk cake. Staff was also very nice.
Turkish restaurant. Great food, generous portions, great ambiance, good service. Halal. Located not too far from Waverly station. We went at 2pm on a Saturday, lots of tables, guess it was after the lunch period but reservation is recommended. The kuzu lamb chop was excellent. Get the mixed grill platter, all the good stuff is there. End it with the baklava
I recently visited Shish Edinburgh, and it turned out to be one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in the city. The atmosphere is warm and stylish, with soft lighting and a relaxed vibe that makes it perfect for both casual dinners and special occasions. The food was the standout. The grilled dishes were packed with flavour—beautifully seasoned, tender, and cooked to perfection. The mezze selection was fresh and generous, and the portions overall offered great value. The presentation was thoughtful without feeling overly formal. Service was friendly and attentive from start to finish. Staff were happy to offer recommendations and checked in at the right moments without ever feeling intrusive. Drinks were also impressive, with a good selection of cocktails, mocktails, and traditional options that complemented the menu well. Overall, Shish Edinburgh offers excellent food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. A spot I’d happily return to—and definitely recommend to anyone looking for quality Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine in Edinburgh.
Food was great as well as the atmosphere, what made this establishment as place I’d return is the service we received from Jaydean. She was extremely friendly, checked in on us through our meal and gave us exceptional service. An absolute value to the business. Would definitely return just based off the service. The food options are vast, halal-friendly and not far from the city centre. The prices are reasonable considering the service and quality. Will return when in Edinburgh.
The restaurant has a nice and relaxed atmosphere and the quality of the food is also very good. I started with a halloumi and it was really good, then I tried the lamb steak and it was great. But the table and all the utensils moved when you used them and you couldn't control them at all.😂😂
Had a great meal here on a weekday evening. Lots of availability, very friendly staff that were quick to check on us. Highly recommend!
This is my favourite restaurants in the city! One of the best Turkish cuisines in the UK I’ve tried. I’ve tried a fair bit of the menu and from the starters to the mains, everything is delicious! The meat is always so tender and juicy and the flavours are so satisfying. As well as the delicious food, this is the first place in Scotland with a full dry bar and as a non-alcoholic it’s so nice to browse a drinks menu with endless options and not just have to skip to the small ‘soft drinks’ section. The staff in the restaurant are always attentive and helpful and the ambience is perfect for a celebratory meal, date or mate night. Highly recommend!
For being here the first time, I would like to say the following. The food quality here is excellent. It is delicious. The presentation and portions are satisfactory. the service is top-notch. I was here for a wedding meal, and the staff did exceptionally well. They were very attentive and polite with professional mannerisms. The atmosphere is pleasant both in decor and layout. Also the place is very clean, so good hygiene maintenance. The only thing I wasn't too pleased about was the main inner door being kept open, leading to a strong cold draft, forcing some of us to put on our cardigans, etc. But once brought to their attention, it was resolved. So a non issue. Honestly, I really enjoyed my time here and will definitely come back again.
Exceptional place with great atmosphere and service. Coming to food.. no words to describe it, probably the best Turkish food I ever had in UK. Great portion and full of flavour dishes. You couldn’t fault a thing, each plate better than the previous one. Highly recommended place and looking forward for the our next visit. Side note, the prices are very very good for the quality and the portion.
This is the top Halal fine dining restaurant in Edinburgh! Amazing menu and service! It’s a bit pricey but you pay for the amazing service they offer! The best Turkish food in Edinburgh! Dry bar with loads of mocktails! No alcohol on offer!
10/10! As a Turkish family this restarunt is true Turkish food! Amazing service start to finish, thank you to the staff for being kind and attentive. Food amazing for the price, inside is very modern, Turkish music in the background. And very central location. We visited here twice during our trip!
I recently dined at this elegant Turkish restaurant, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience. The food surpassed all my expectations and has easily become the best Turkish I've ever tasted. The flavors were exquisite, and dessert - kunafe, a true delight for the taste buds. The restaurant exudes a high-end atmosphere, perfect for a fine dining experience. Despite its sophistication, it also caters to families, making it a great choice for various occasions. The ambiance was inviting and created a welcoming environment for all guests. One aspect that truly impressed me was the excellent service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every detail was taken care of and that my dining experience was impeccable. From their attentive nature to their extensive knowledge of the menu, the service added an extra touch of luxury to the overall experience. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend this Turkish restaurant for those seeking an unforgettable fine dining experience in Edinburgh. The outstanding food, combined with its family-friendly atmosphere and excellent service, make it a must-visit destination.
The service by (Jay) was amazing. She was super sharp, efficient and extra attentive! The food was super yummy. The prices are a bit high, but the experience was worth it!
I visited Shish Turkish Restaurant Edinburgh. I had the mixed grill platter for two although it was a lot for two normal eaters. It will take two hefty men who love food to finish it. The meals are charcoal-grilled and purely Halal. Everything is 10/10. No alcohol is sold here. All cocktails are alcohol-free. The ambience and lighting are superb making it an Instagrammable restaurant. Service is fast and highly .satisfactory
Always an amazing experience! Fav go to place to take my guests ❤️
This place was suggested by our Uber driver, and we’re so glad we tried it. After our trip to Turkey a few years ago, this was the closest to what we had in Istanbul. We tried their cold mezze, Turkish tea, and tres leches.
The atmosphere was top notch and food was tantalising. We were treated well , by the kind & generous staff member Shab #payrise to this young-man
Lovely food, great atmosphere but have to give a special shout out to Jaydene. I think she is quite possibly the friendliest server I have ever had. Such a kind lady with such a warm presence!
Visited on 16th November 2025 and had been looking forward to trying it. As someone who no longer drinks alcohol it was a page that always appeared on my social media. Ill get the only negative out of the way first, we were seated then waited 20 minutes before being offered any drinks, I was very close to leaving but because I had looked forward to it I waited. Starters were fantastic, I went for the shrimp starter 10/10. We had the mixed grill for out main, which again was excellent. The only thing I would change is maybe to have larger pitta with this and maybe a few sauce options to go along with it. I also had a strawberry dauqri mocktail which was lovely. If im back in Edinburgh again I will re visit.
Shish is a lively Arabic restaurant that truly captures the warmth and generosity of Middle Eastern dining. Even without a reservation, the staff kindly found me a seat despite the place being packed with families. The food was excellent. The only thing is that the portions were clearly designed for sharing, so as a solo diner I had to limit myself to a smaller dish instead of going for the tempting mixed grill. Still, everything looked and tasted amazing, and the welcoming atmosphere made it a great experience overall.
I love the 2/4/6 portion of mixed grill platter. The selection is so well thought out, and every single meat is absolutely delicious. There’s nothing that falls short, and I really enjoyed the variety. I’ll definitely order it again next time.
Delicious food. But the atmosphere was dead. It was really quiet, and the waiter seemed said. He was nice though. A little bit slow service, but I got the coffee on the house. Thanks!
The food was absolutely delicious! Honestly, one of the best halal options in Edinburgh. I highly recommend trying the Ayran and the Kofte.
Was our fav restaurant for the last three years, unfortunately not only the prices have increased in a disproportionate way but the quality of food has slumped. After the last price increase we still went for dinner, although less than before, however after tonight there is no way I will go again. Food is was cold, size of Lahmacun smaller now (same price of course) and the taste / quality hit the lowest I’ve ever seen in the last three years. Sorry guys, you did better and I am really upset as I was having dinner at your place with my family several times a months - at least once. All the best and I hope you will find back to your previous quality and acceptable price level.
Very average food, it was very very expensive, the menu prices was not the same as the menu here, I went to a lot of 5 star restaurants and to a lot of expensive restaurants but I never seen a small bread in 4£ and a tiny plate of hummus for 8.45£ we thought it was a free welcome appetizers. Moreover, the sofa was dirty.
We ordered the whole chicken with rice and roasted veg - it came very quick, so, unsurprisingly it ended up being cold, chewy and not pleasant to eat at all. It was probably cooked much earlier in the day and was just sitting there and slightly reheated for our order. A complete disappointment and not something I have ever experienced at a “Turkish” restaurant. They did give us a small discount at the end when we expressed dissatisfaction but it was still not the best experience - not worth the money.
You will be amazed by the entrance and the dining room with its tables, chairs and other furniture, but unfortunately the level of food served is bellow average comparing with the expensive prices! I ordered Kuzu Şiş dish and that means the pure lamp pieces with bulgur and some salat and yogurt sauce. The lamp piece wasn’t pure! Obviously, some pieces contain bones and other pieces contain veins that you will not be happy to eat it easily and also you will not taste it because you will keep chewing and chewing without stop!! In addition the bulgur was very bad taste as well as it is not fresh(not cooked today)!! Starter bread was ok with some olives and mix paste of tomatoes with olives oil and whole nuts and other spices. Humus was tasty. Welcoming and greetings was good. Eventually, Not recommended.. I would say there are many other restaurants serving better quality of food nearby.
I saw this place on social media and decided to give it a shot when visiting Edinburgh with a friend from London. Big mistake. The rice was clearly old and just reheated, and the chicken was the same — dry and not fresh at all. For the high prices they charge, the quality was shocking. Totally overrated and definitely not worth the hype.
If your from down south Manchester ect do not visit here you will leave disappoint was horrible food was full fat and grease was ment to be a platter grilled just came out so fast seem like was cooked then frozen and re heated rice was so bland not worth the money very disappointed
We ordered the platter for two, and while the pot it came in was large, the actual amount of food was quite disappointing. For a traditional Turkish meal, lamb is usually the highlight, but we only received two small chunks of lamb kebab, one shish, and a few pieces of meat on the lamb ribs and most of them were just bones. What concerned me more was the cleanliness. The water they served us contained black particles twice, which raised serious concerns about hygiene and food safety. On top of that, the service was poor. I had to ask several times just to get a refill of water, which was frustrating. Overall, this was a really disappointing experience. The food quality and quantity were not worth the price at all, especially compared to other Turkish restaurants I’ve been to. I wouldn’t recommend this place based on my visit.
Bad experience… starting from the entrance where we have waited 15 minutes to be seated having a booking in place . Another 20 minutes of waiting until someone came to take our order and the food wasn’t how we have expected to be . If anyone want sa real Turkish experience from how you’re waited at the door till you exit their door in Aberdeen is a restaurant that will make you travel every 2 weeks there to eat . Muzo’s Turkish Kitchen Aberdeen . For the owners might be a good idea to go there once to see how the things should be to have happy customers every day .
I have come here many times before and always enjoyed it, the service has always been nice but I went here last Saturday and was served completely raw chicken, I had taken a bite before I realised. I made the staff aware of this and they took away the raw piece and asked if I wanted to take the rest of the contaminated food away with me. They asked if they could offer my friend and I something else as it was a sharing platter we got and we said no. They then asked if we want something from the dessert menu, my friend ordered a dessert and then she charged us for the dessert she said would be "on them". We paid and just got our of there. Terrible and no urgency over the raw chicken, they just said sorry like it was no big deal
