My girlfriend and I had such a good dinner last night, the staff certainly knows what they sell! Had a lovely talk with the manager (owner?) about his time in The Netherlands. Finally an Indian place that listens to your requests! If you ask them to make your dish Vindaloo hot, you better watch out! :) Very good! Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking!
Great little restaurant in a basement in the New Town. It is really the only Indian Restaurant I go to in the city as the welcome is always warm and the food is always amazing! Staff are attentive and friendly, at the same time being relaxed. The menu is wide ranging, so lots of tasty options to choose from and if you have room for dessert you must have the Kulfi!
I love indian food but am still wary of where i eat it. Every time i've been here, it's been amazing. The owner and waiters are so helpful and friendly and it's some of the best indian food i've tasted by far! Try it out, you'll love it too!
Simply amazing. Waiter and the owner very very sweet and attentive. Genuinely friendly. Food was awesome and most importantly not that expensive. Great value for money :)
The place is a little dull but it is quite spacious and what matters is the food - it was freaking delicious!
Great service, the staff go out of their way to help. Great food and good prices.
Best Indian cuisine I've ever had
Great food!
This is one of my favourite India's in Edinburgh. I run an Airbnb and encourage any guests who like Indian food to come to this restaurant near the top of Dundas Street (on the East side of the Street). The food is top quality. The staff are very polite and well mannered. They know who to treat a guest do they get the most positive dining experience possible.
My mother and I stumbled upon this place by fluke; I just Googled good curry, and this happened to be closest to my house, so off we went. I cannot say enough good things about this place! The menu was extensive and extremely delicious, definitely some of the best Indian food I've ever had. Be sure to get the Kulfi for dessert. The service was probably some of the best service I've ever experienced; the owner and the waiter were very attentive, but not imposing, and genuinely kind. The prices weren't too high, all things considered, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. If you're looking for some tasty Indian food and a generally good dining experience, check this place out!
We had an excellent dinner here last night. The staff was very friendly and helpful in helping us pick from the huge menu. Ended up ordering way too much as always, but everything was really well prepped and tasted excellent. I would recommend going here if you're looking for a good Indian place.
Was in a business trip in Edinburgh, decided to have Indian and told by our local friends to go here. One of the best, freshet and most tasty Indians I had for a long time. Will be in Edinburgh soon and will be there for sure. The lady who runs the front was very lovely and friendly. I recommend anyone goes to Edinburgh have a meal there.
We invited some friends to this authentic north Indian cuisine restaurant and were very impressed with the excellent food and service we received. Very pleasant atmosphere. Staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. Will definitely go there again. Highly recommended.
Was skeptical to this place since it looked a little shabby but it had gotten lots of good reviews on Tripadvisor so decided to give it a try. The place is not the fanciest but the service is nice and the food that we got was really good and spiced as we wanted. The prices are very good and you will get a good meal for a decent price. Next time we are in Edinburgh we are definitely giving this place another visit.
Take away ordered and found both the service and price to my taste. All dishes were excellent and plentiful. Slightly lacking in top end flavour but very good overall.
Very good food and quirky but fun atmosphere. Lots of regulars which is a testament to its quality and consistency.
A nice local Indian restaurant. Good food with friendly, efficient service made for a great night out.
Had a pretty bad experience with the staff here. First off, the staff was pretty rude when asked which dishes were vegetarian, he just asked us to look harder at the menu which had literally 300 items. After careful explanation about the fact that the guests who were accompanying us were vegetarian, we were served a a plate of egg fried rice instead of vegetable fried rice. He promptly took the egg rice away when informed about the error but within 3 minutes got us a vegetarian dish which wasn't a fried rice but an Indian pulao which had turmeric. When we tried to explain to him that nowhere in the world have we seen Chinese or even indo Chinese food contain turmeric, he tried to argue vehemently suggesting that every place has their own style of making dishes. We also seriously doubted that the dish he got us was already prepared since it was also a part of the buffet which was there. Also I personally had opted for the buffet which was lackluster to say the least. All in all, I'd suggest everyone who has even a little knowledge about Indian food to avoid this place since there's nothing authentic about it. Also we felt that the waiters were discriminating against us owing to the fact that we were Indian.
Avoid! We telephoned to check on delivery of our order and were told no order existed, and if we called again the owner would call the police! We ordered from another restaurant then the original order arrived so we ended up paying twice. I called the owner the next day to give him a chance to apologise and he was abusive and said he didnt care if we returned. Awful.
Pathetic experience, do not recommend any desi going there , so called owner keeps reminding you "uska customer gora hai " "ye UK hai" , seriously couldn't get his attitude, he was so rude that we walked off after paying for the drinks that we had by that time ... this is definitely NOT AN INDIAN restuarant ... don't be fooled by the name !!! This place sucks big time ...
I got horrible food poisoning from here. I called the restaurant about a day and half after ordering the food to let them know it and to ask for a refund. I would have called them sooner, but I was in no state to speak with anyone over the phone. The man I spoke with on the phone was incredibly rude and said they had never received any complaints before. Although he was very rude, he did agree to give me a refund if I stopped by the restaurant. I did so and then he essentially told me I should have told them sooner about the food poisoning instead of waiting until I was well enough to leave my flat. I point blank asked him “should I have called you while puking in the toilet then?” He said yes. This man did not understand that part of working in the customer service industry is that there are bound to be few complaints every once in a while Honestly, I’m incredibly disappointed with Spice Pavilion because this used to be my favourite Indian restaurant and I was always enjoyed going there. The older woman who works there was always lovely to my friend and me. I was in no way trying to insult the quality of their food or their livelihood, but simply relay that I had gotten food poisoning.
