We couldn't get served at stagecoach, so we came across the street to La Bou, what a refreshing low key atmosphere. Food and service were top notch. I forgot how good La Bou was, I think you have a new customer!
Food is delicious. They could use a few chairs.
What can I say...I'm a fan. Yummy coffee and food items no one else serves. Turkey and Swiss cheese croissant.
Food is so great here! Fresh baked breads, yummy soups and sandwiches, good bang for the buck. Highly recommended! 😎
I've been going to La Bou for close to 20 years and the croissants are still excellent!
I love La Bou. One of my favorite places to visit when I'm on town. Fresh baked goods and yummy sandwiches and salads and always a reliably delicious meal! Turkey sandwich on a croissant and any of their salads make for a great lunch! Their croissants are divine especially in the morning, and get the baguette and dill for a nice afternoon snack when lunch is over.
Didn't know what to expect when I went in, but was happy to find great food and good coffee! Ordered the pesto pasta salad and it was better then I expected it to be! Had a mustard pesto instead of the usual basil kind and tasted great!
Wonderful place to have some excellent coffee and a delicious sandwich. We especially like that it has plenty of space for bigger groups (like my wife's Garden Committee). Not your typical small dark Cafe!
Got the avocado club, didn't see that it was a veggie one lol, was expecting some turkey on there but took my first bite of it and omg lol, why has no one told me how delicious goat cheese is!!! Very delicious sandwich! Will be going back to try others on the menu!
Excellent everything. The service was excellent, the food was excellent, and the location is run exceptionally well. Let me recommend their croissants and blueberry filled croissants. Yum!
Been coming here for years. Our favorite is their Chinese Chicken Salad, but have noticed lately it’s more like a Chinese Salad. Very little chicken! 😔
Always great food and very pleasant people working there. I love the baguette and dill sauce my favorite! If you haven't tried it please do you won't regret it!
I love this place for a great hot cup of coffee and delicious breakfast sandwich. The service is always friendly and attentive, prices are fair. Good way to start your day!
La Bou is probably in my top 3 spots for breakfast or lunch on the go. Everything I’ve had is always fresh. My favorite is their white mocha, almond croissant, and chicken salad.
Nice atmosphere with self serve coffee and tea once paid for and water (free). The sourdough croissant was light, fluffy, crispy and warm. The egg and bacon were cooked perfectly to pair with this croissant. It was not flaky like others and had the right amount of balance between crispy and fluffy.
Had lunch today here. We ordered a turkey panini and a tuna on croissant. Plus half a bagette with dill sauce. And 2 italian sodas. 1 had cream added. Everything was delicious and fresh.
2nd time here so that's saying good things about this place. I'm new to this town so I've been trying out the food around and this place made a great impression to me. Their breakfast sandwiches are great. However there menus need a lot to be desired. Well thier breakfast and menu is located on a machine not at all on thier main menu. Thier coffee is the best.

Excellent food! We went right before they were closing, but they still had wonderful service. Thai pasta salad, spicy chicken soup, and Tuscan panini were great for a variety of sharing options. All were delicious! The bread that was included was so fresh! We tried the lemon berry muffin, too.... Fantastic!
The reason this review has such a good rating is because of the staff members here. The quality cuisine is the other. The staff members are all really kind; when I stepped in, they all grinned at me. My purchase of a mocha was delicious as well. Absolutely, I'd think about working here. Unfortunately, I don't think they are now hiring. a fantastic location for a quick bite!
The employees here are the ones who give this review such a high rating. The other is the good food. The employees here are very nice, every single one of them offered a smile when I walked in. The mocha I ordered tasted great as well. I'd definitely consider a job here. Unfortunately, I don't believe that they are hiring as of now. A great place to grab a quick bite!
Tasty sandwich (la bou club) plenty of choices, good coffee, staff is pleasant.
The employees that work here are some of the best in elk Grove. They clearly love their jobs and value the people that come in, whether they are delivery drivers or customers. If you go to this location and this restaurant, I can guarantee good food and even better I can guarantee you'll leave feeling like you were wanted there. I can't recommend this place enough, if good service and good food are not enough, the parking is always great as well. I don't know what the manager is doing here, but I can tell you the employees seem happy and that's always really important to me. Also, they have delicious pastries, which is a big bonus.
Great place. Love the creamy dill dressing and the her vinaigrette. Prices are reasonable. Other things I have tried: Chicken salad (Asian or sesame) has a light but flavorful dressing. All their salads are filling. I recommend getting the house with the creamy dill and the herb dressing and a scoop of tuna! The thai chicken soup (not spicy in my opinion) is great and not thick, but full of flavor - great for a cold spring morning or winter. Oh and their ginger cookies are to die for if you like that sort of thing - yummy! Okay whose hungry?
The food is amazing! I always get the Chinese chicken salad and baguette with their delicious dill sauce. I love the hot ham and cheese croissant! The service was always fast and very friendly! The people here are so kind. The atmosphere here is clean and very welcoming.

Good sandwiches. Good cookies. Pretty fast. Some employees, maybe new, could not answer pretty standard questions like "what kind of cookie is that?". Bathroom (women's) could use an overhaul. At the least, a deep clean.
We ordered the sandwich and soup combo, which was pretty good. I would've given 5 stars but the soup was scalding and didn't cool down enough to eat while still there. I had to bring it home. Also, I realize that times are tough right now and everyone is understaffed but the tables and floor were pretty dirty and the trash cans were overflowing. I felt bad for the workers. 🥺
Management addressed my concerns and offered a redo. Cobb salad was not made right especially for $14 bucks, I was dissatisfied. So I was offered a complimentary redo, i got a house salad with herb chicken much better, will continue to support our local businesses. I appreciate the timely response from mgmt. Thank you Liz
Haven't been here in forever! My husband and I were hungover and he said he just wanted a Baguette and dill dressing. I thought it was a marvelous idea!! We got baguettes, sandwiches, tomato soup, Asian sesame noodle salad and pastries. Ordered ahead of time and paid when I picked it up. Food bags were all sealed and stapled closed so I didn't check the order which I should have. When I got home none of the 3 pastries we ordered were in the bags and neither was the tomato soup! I called and they said it was because they were out of the pastries. Why would they not say that when I went in to grab them.?? And before I paid for them??? So because I already paid for them I had to pick other pastries as a substitute that I really didn't want AND drive allllll the way back to grab them and the soup! Was kind of a hassle! But the employees were really apologetic and very sweet and threw in some extra cookies to make it right. The food was absolutely as good as I remembered though!
I've been going to La Bou for a very long time this is a nice and wellmaintained store. The staff is nice and helpful and the products are fresh. My wife likes to visit the dollar store which is in the same complex and while she's doing that I come over here to get a cup of coffee and pick up some dessert items. She would meet me over here and we will have our dessert why she shows me all the junk that she bought at the dollar store.
We love this place for the hot sandwiches, ham/turkey/spinach croissants are on point. The make my favorite BLT, but I will say don’t buy extra bacon as it will be no different than the regular BLT except for $2.50 more.
The drink I ordered was fine but nothing special. Since we arrived mid-morning many items were sold out. The croissants were good.
I like La Bou because it's easy access especially for any type of mobile challenge or handicap that one may have with movement. I do like their sandwiches very much I had a BLT on a croissant and we ate outside. The only negative that I have to say is that the tables could have been a little bit cleaner outside it was the end of the day and they were starting to clean up so in all fairness I have always been in labu when they have been very clean they were just very busy on this day and I think it was an oversight. Staff was very pleasant food was served quickly and we had a good time outside and I would highly recommend La Bou.
Therenis something this La Bou lacks when compared to others in the franchise. Ive never been able to put my finger on it. Its almost like its a carbon copy of the original locations, but the carbon toner is running low. Food is good when its right. Pastries are always delish. My Chai this morning was fabulous.

La Bou in Elk Grove seems to change ownership fairly often. Food ranges from very good to poor. Salads are usually very good. Sandwiches are hit & miss. I've had excellent soup there, but I've also had soup that I didn't consider edible.
The food is okay; the coffee and baked rolls, muffings etc. are good; a lot of people go there to hold meetings because you can move the tables around to form a large group of tables and stay as long as you want. You place your order, then pick it up from a pickup area; no waiters or waitresses.
Unfortunately, the fact they don't take "La Bou" gift card. Its a waste of money all around. They might as well post it on the door before I walk in because after I order and she saw me pull a gift card she then tell me that they dont take gift card. I gave them two star because she tried at least three time, which its a joke in itself but I guess at lease she tried. The whole place is just messing. Napkins and crumbs all over the floor and table. Couldn't find a clean table. So you would have to wipe down the crumb to the ground with the rest of the crumbs on the floor. Two star because the food was very good. Two star because they need to start accepting gift cards. Theres not that many La Bou around, I would have to drive across town to go find one that would take this $80 gift card.
I was excited to visit LA Bou as I don't have one near me so I had not been in a while. The service was mediocre and I was a little frustrated and disappointed as their menu on the wall indicates that you can select a specialty or panini sandwich and receive half sandwich then pair with soup or salad of your choice. When I asked for this I was told that they only offer regular sandwiches as half combo option. I stated that it appears on the menu and the associate didn't even acknowledge it, simply saying it is not available. I don't know if it is a pandemic thing but if it is not available it should be removed as an option. The sandwich was prepared quickly and tasted ok, but not as good as I remembered.
did online order for pick up and ordered the avocado club veggie sandwich. asked for no apple. ended up with no avocados and only apple on it. nearly $15 for a sandwich that ended up going to waste… apple strudel and club salad was good though
I used to be a die hard La Bou fanatic. This location has been through a few owners over the years and I have stuck by it. Unfortunately, things are not the same with the newest owner. I have been in around (5) times and the quality, flavor, and appearance of the croissants are not the same. They sell out by 10 am, so there is never enough being made ...and when u do get one they are not worth the price. I have gone in to purchase a specific item on different occasions and was given something else and of course u can't find out until u actually open it. I am not impressed and will only be going to other locations from now on.
Understaffed. 1 person working the counter. Drove all the way from Laguna west for an Apricot scone. None available! They had 4 scones only that looked day old! This place disappoints!! They said 30 minutes before scones come out! What kind of bakery is this!
I recently ordered two sandwiches to go. Unfortunately, the bread was stale and the teriyaki chicken had absolutely no flavor. On the plus side . . . the produce was fresh and the service was good.
Noodles are no longer marinaded and salad is $1 more. I used to get the LaBou chicken salad once a week for lunch. The last two times the noodles have not been marinaded. Today I asked about it and was told from now on it’s plain noodles. It pretty much tastes like plain spaghetti on my salad. Not good. I’m pretty disappointed as it’s still pictured as marinaded noodles. If you know this salad or the Asian noodle salad, you know the marinaded noodles are the best part. So sad to see another restaurant go downhill while charging more.

I love Labou. Great food and usually great experience. This experience was not fantastic. I was the second in line and it took over 15 minutes to take my order. The person in charge kept pulling away the cashier and left me standing there in line with no one acknowledging me. I could see four employees behind the counter. They took phone orders before my order several times. A person in front of you should be first. It was 11:30 AM on a weekday. Bottom line it was not a good experience.

Irritated that the hours consistently change and they are not updated on any platforms (google, yelp, labou corporate website). They are open later in the morning and close before 4 p.m. now, yet nothing is posted on this. Over the last year all pastries, including the hot bake croissants and hot sandwiches have gotten noticeably smaller in portion , yet price has increased dramatically. This new food phenomenon is called “Shrinkflation”…what many businesses have utilized over the last few years in hopes we don’t notice. 🙄 Lame. Now instead of going 2-3 times a week, I visit once a month. If my youngest son didn’t request it, I would have no reason to visit this business anymore.
my girlfriend and I went in and ordered Cranberry Turkey Pannnini one Spicy tai chicen soup one coffee and a Mocha Freeze it took 25 minutes to get order out soup was watered down and had rice that was over cooked too long ..tasted horrible and was cold . I asked for a different soup and had to wait an other 15 minutes by than I was so upset that soup was cold again. No Manager on duty ! and counter girls were not wearing hairnets which is a health issue for the customer me.
This is one of my favorite places their bread and Deal is so good and they’re half solid now I am moved out of California. I’m here visiting online. It says they’re open till 5 PM. You get here and there’s temporary hours from 7 to 3. I pulled up at 3 o’clock doors are locked and they’re closed. Where am I going to get bread until at now? No I don’t want Panera bread. I want it Lavato so now I’m pretty upset and I think it’s pretty messed up. You guys got to have your hours updated online.
I have always gone to La Bou and I never had this kind of reception. Last Thursday March 11, 2021 at 11:45, the bakery was empty except for one black lady in front of me. I am black too. Well the woman behind the counter was on the phone, there was one other person at the far end of the counter bringing in some types of pans. The woman on the phone never looked up, never acknowledged us never said I will be right with you nothing, so myself and the woman in front of me continued to wait, I waited for 5 minutes and nothing from the woman. I had not been in this La Bou for some time because the last time I was there it was owned by white people and they were always nice and respectable. I know it has been said that Asian people do not like black people and I witnessed it first hand so if you are black don't go into that store, go to the one in West Sacramento.

OMG!! What a nightmare! Ordered an $18.00 Lg Chicken Salad.. $23.00 in all.. but when it arrived.. it was Old and brown cabbage, paid extra $7.00 for “Large” But it was in a very small box.. very very little chicken (pd extra) 3- maybe 4 peanuts.. not much of anything but a tiny box of lettuce!! Not the Large Chinese Chicken Salad.. I thought my poor husband would enjoy!! Hardly!! He saw the receipt too!! I Will never order anything from this place again!! Hideous Food.. extremely Expensive!!! (Photos attached)
The worst customer service I have ever had. I have worked in a restaurant for 5 years, and the way we were treated by multiple employees was appalling. This was our first time here, and we ordered some food to go. All the employees seemed very stressed, even though there didn't seem to be very many customers in the building. The lady who took our order was not very helpful and rushed us. We went and sat by the food pick-up area right after our order was placed to wait for our number to be called. We watched an employee put a bag up on the counter, glance at us, and then walk away without a single word. Since it was our first time there, we didn't want to assume it was our food, and decided to wait for the employee to come back to the counter to verify (we didn't want to interrupt anyone since like I mentioned, they all seem extremely stressed). When she did eventually come back up to the counter, it was to complain to her coworker that she has no idea where these people are and that they need to come get their food. I spoke up to say that we had been waiting on our order, but hadn't wanted to assume that was ours and had been waiting to hear our number. She told us that we were wrong and that she had been calling the number multiple times and we didn't hear. I let her know that we were sitting in front of the counter the whole time (and even watched her put it up there), and once again she let us know that we were wrong, didn't hear and that other employees were even calling the number (they had not been), and she seemed extremely angry. I said that was a lie, but just took our food and left. I understand being stressed at work, but I do not understand trying to argue with customers. We were not angry that we had been waiting, and a simple "sorry for the miscommunication" on her end would have made this whole interaction fine. We tipped 20% when we had ordered, but if we could take that back and tip nothing we would. The food was alright, but I would never recommend this place to anyone.
