The Elkridge Furnace Inn

This is one of my favorite special occasion places to eat. Chef Dan not only prepares delicious and different meals but stops by to check on diners and share interesting stories about his past and the history of the Inn. For starters we had the Prime Tenderloin Carpaccio and Cider Braised Pork Belly. Two of us had the Delmonico Steak with crab cake and Potato & Root Vegetable Purée which was delicious. The steak was cooked perfect and the crab cake true to Maryland. But, the Tarte de Pommes desert was incredible.

A remarkable hidden gem. We had an outstanding meal at the end of a weekend here. Staff was lovely and the place is charming. Our 4 meals ranged widely across the menu and we also selected a couple seasonal appetizers (in our case one with figs and one with beets). All were excellent. Highly recommend.

The food and service were excellent! Really enjoy that their seasonal menu and how approachable the new items can be. Recently celebrated a birthday and appreciated that the staff had a chocolate “happy birthday” on the cake for us!

Perfect place for an anniversary, birthday, or date night, or any special occasion. The building has been around since 1744 and definitely provides a charming dining environment. The service team was top notch, anchored by our head server Dawson. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and helpful in providing recommendations. During the meal, we were visited by a manager and also chef Dan to ensure our experience was in line with their excellent standards (they were!) We visited on one of the last days of the spring menu and enjoyed all of our food. I personally recommend the crab cakes and the cookie butter cheesecake. I look forward to planning another date night to try other delicious options!

I had one of the best meals of my life at The Elkridge Furnace Inn. I walked in twenty minutes before close to dine alone, with a book. Familiar with the restaurant's stellar reputation and renowned kitchen, I decided to pop in after a long day for some serenity. The host was pleasant and accommodating, the consequential grounds and facilities were somehow both lush and polished and the offerings were expertly chosen and prepared. I was seated quickly, given a swift but thorough tour of the menu, and the rest is history! One love to Chef Dan and Donna Wecker, and their superlative staff. Magnifique!

Five stars across the board to the entire Elkridge Furnace Inn for our son and daughter-in-law’s wedding brunch. From the planning to the big day, everyone made us feel welcome, the food was delicious, every staff member was cheerful and gracious, and the Garden House venue was beautiful and perfect for our needs (they can accommodate 25-75 guests, we had 44 in this photo). If you enjoy dining at the Inn, you will love having an event there! Thank you Chef Dan and Donna and the entire Elkridge Furnace Inn family!

Excellent service, food, and atmosphere. Our party enjoyed our winter inspired, cocktails, soup and crab dip, appetizers, and rabbit, leg, fillet, and other steak entrées with the maître D bone marrow butter the setting in the historic Inn was very inviting and comfortable. The service was very friendly and attentive chef Dan even came out to our table to ensure we enjoyed our meal. We got cheesecake and crème brûlée, to end the night, which was all delicious. Highly recommended for an elevated dining experience.

We were absolutely blessed to have Dawson take care of us last evening for my sister’s 40th. He was an absolute delight, and I already have plans to come back—hoping we’re lucky enough to get him again! The food was simply superb, featuring a ton of homegrown ingredients, exotic choices, 10/10 cocktails, and the best damn cheesecake I’ve ever had. Do yourself a favor and make a point of going!

We came for our 10th anniversary and everything about the experience was phenomenal. From the unique food options to the delicious seasonings, all wrapped up in such a beautiful historic building next to a wood burning fire was absolutely perfect. We even brought our two smaller children and they had a menu for them. It was a fantastic experience and we will definitely go again. Dawson was a great server too!

Seema and Howard made our anniversary dinner just perfect. We haven’t been back since getting married there ten years ago. We had the perfect dinner last night. The food, drinks, service was outstanding! Thank you again for providing us with a perfect evening. 💗

If I could rate this a 7/5 I would. Happy I stopped in after passing by several times before on work trips. I'll certainly find a way to get back soon. Farm to Table options with a rotational menu to fit the season. I don't like beans, and they were the "worst" part of the dish, and they were phenomenally delicious that I wanted more. Mushroom soup was a prefect appetizer that was creamy and perfectly delightful too.

This is a must to visit in the area. We were only in town a few days and were looking for somewhere to celebrate our anniversary and are so happy we found it online. For attire we went business casual. It was the first night of the chefs spring menu and it was DELICIOUS! We loved every item that came out and had zero complaints. The mushroom soup and Baltimore Soup were so fresh and delicious, the main entrees were cooked to perfection and the orange creme brulee was so good your sad it ran out. The best part about all the food though is that it is locally grown and sourced, most of it right on sight and you can taste it! The staff and servers really care about the place and you tell as the service was friendly, caring and thoughtful.

This place is beautiful. We were there for dinner and requested drinks on the lawn. The manager came outside to talk to us and recommended a whiskey sour drink. I have no idea what it was called, but it was amazing! Apparently, the menu changes as the seasons go; I had escargo that was served in a butternut squash, and I dont think butter and garlic is going to work anymore! It was unique and delicious. Seems the best thing to do is walk in and relax, and let the amazing staff walk you through a delicious meal!

My husband and I had a celebratory meal at the Elkridge Furnace Inn, and we had a wonderful experience! Since we were a larger party of 9, we paid to have our own room upstairs so we were able to dine in privacy. The waiters were attentive, personable, and asked if we had questions about food and beverages several times. Everyone enjoyed their food, ranging from a Polish hunter stew to flounder and leek soup. For dessert we’d ordered ahead of time a personalized gluten free lemon cake, which was beautifully decorated and and very tasty. We will definitely return!

Beautiful place, I could have my last meal here and die happy. The food is exquisite. Beautiful gardens. An old plantation style home converted to a restaurant. Each room sends your imagination on a journey as to the people that have come in and out.If 50 stars were possible i would rate this place 100 stars. The food had the look and taste of an exclusive place where the prices are too high to put on the menu and if you have to ask you can't afford but I was pleasantly surprised that the prices are very reasonable and I have spent a lot more for a whole lot less.

What an amazing New Years Eve meal. It was a flexible 3, 4 or 5 course meal with appetizer, soups, salad, entree and dessert. Each item was better the next. Our server Sven was attentive and wonderful despite having to manage an entire floor of tables it seemed. We even had to send a dish back and the chef agreed something was too salty. Not something to do very often but that is an amazing special occasion spot.

We absolutely loved this place! So glad we found this little gem. The atmosphere was amazing, the food was amazing, and the service was amazing. It's a bit pricey but we could tell that the chef was very thoughtful with the dishes that were served. For appetizers, we ordered the grilled peach bruschetta and the Ricotta Stuffed Squash Blossoms. For our main course, we ordered the Smoked Pork Chop and the Rack of Lamb. For dessert, we ordered the Strawberry Rhubarb Galette and the Peach Crisp. All the food was wonderful. About 5 mins after our main dishes arrived at our table, chef Dan came out to chat with us and make sure everything was up to par and we appreciated that. He also explained the dishes, some of the sides and answered any questions we had. The food we had was on the summer menu, the menu changes with each season so the food will probably be different the next time we visit. We are really looking forward to returning for one of the events that the restaurant hosts. Every couple of weeks the restaurant hosts multi-course dinner events of different themes and they all sound fantastic. We would love to attend all the events if we could afford to do so. For now, because of our limited budget, we'll just have to wait to visit again in the fall sometime to experience the fall menu. We'd give this place 6 stars if we could. Highly recommend!

Visiting the area and came across this hidden gem. My friend and I had a lovely meal with wonderful service. The Inn has multiple rooms for dining and they seem to spread people out so feel like you have a little privacy. I had the grilled octopus salad which contained very fresh greens and quality octopus. I loved how they put the light dressing on four corners so you could use the amount you want with each bite. My friend had the braised rib cap where the meat just fell off the fork. The combination with the bolognese bucatint was exceptional. The cream of Baltimore soup was light and flavorful while I got the Classic French Onion which chef is known for. It was amazing! I was pretty full but had to try dessert. The Olive Oil cake was a perfect option. The cake was warm with crisp edges making every bite so good! I saved the fruit for breakfast and it was still fresh and flavorful the next morning. I know Baltimore has a lot of restaurants raving about their famous crab cakes, but between the ambiance, service and quality of food, this place is a must! They will definitely be on my list the next time I’m in the area.

Great food, awesome history, and a beautiful old home.

We went to a wonderful Polish dinner with beer pairing. The food was excellent, the chef/owner was entertaining. A wonderful place to go. I have been here on a number of occasions, and I t have never been disappointed. Just finished their mushroom focused dinner with wine pairing. Incredible meal. Relaxing fun atmosphere. Look at their website because they have lots of these kind of themed dinners .

We have visited twice for brunch. This place is absolutely adorable and the food is simply amazing. Big shout out to the chef. The service team for brunch both times have been a young crew who appear to not have a huge amount of serving experience- not in a negative way at all just obvious. What I find charming is that what they lack in experience they make up for in heart. You can truly feel their desire to make your meal better and to get it right…. And they do it very well. Be patient, be nice, be a good customer. Jason has served us twice and perfect both times. The food speaks for itself. Elegantly presented, great flavor, and fresh! We can’t wait to try dinner or one of their special events.

First visit to the Elkridge Furnace Inn for brunch with a few friends. The Inn is beautiful and we loved how historic it felt. There was a wedding going on as we left, and it would be a great option for a special event. We sat on the second level, and the decor is beautiful. Antique kind of vibe. Friendly service and staff, and it was perfect for a girls brunch. My out of town visitors loved the experience. We split the latke, scone, and herb bread. I ordered Eggs Florentine (with oysters) and dauphinoise potatoes. The hollandaise was one of the best I've had. Everything was delicious. Can't wait to come back.

My wife and I had a phenomenal wedding night dinner together at the Elkridge Furnace Inn. The servers were so attentive and knowledgeable about the history of the Inn and the general manager came out to congratulate us on our wedding. They even comp'd dessert for us (which may have made me cry a little). The food was incredible, and our steaks were perfectly cooked. We were the only ones on the patio, which was lovely and intimate, but I'm sure even with other people around the patio would be just as nice. There was a heater available on the patio but it was so warm out we didn't need it turned on. The gardens are beautiful and we were able to take a quick post-dinner stroll around the grounds. Overall a wonderful experience that made our wedding day extra special. We're already planning to return for our first anniversary! Thank you so much for a perfect first dinner together.

Out of the park. They did it. So absolutely amazing. I have to say, I truly enjoyed this dinner tonight. Our server was top notch with excellent suggestions. We were able to sit outdoors and enjoy the beautiful garden as we ate. The food was spectacular. The rockfish was right on point and the NY strip was heady deliciousness. I have to say this was the best NY strip I've ever had. It didn't even have the large fatty piece down the side. The truffle butter took it over the top and the fresh sage gave it the perfect bitter bite. Their mocktails are amazing. The bartender made up this Skittles drink that blew me away. I love the fact the restaurant cares for their guests, has their staff wearing masks, and separates out tables. I think their approach is stellar. I can't wait to go back! This was our first outing here and I'm already itching for my next one!

We came back here several times and each time it’s like a new experience. Their food is well prepared and comes out in medium to large portions. Our favorite time to eat here is for Sunday brunch. Most of their breakfast meats is pork but they had no issues substituting steak for my omelette. Their coffee is delicious and their cinnamon cranberry scones are the best. The ambience is quiet and classy. Before, we were always seated inside the house but this last time we got to sit outside in the garden area in a large tent and the weather was perfect for it. They kept the tables spread out more than 6 ft for social distancing. The staff is always friendly and professional. We were told that the waiting times may be longer than usual, but we never had to wait too long for anything. Our water and coffee was constantly refilled and the waiter kept checking in to see if we needed anything. We love this place and will keep coming back.

We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day dinner here. My filet was cooked to perfection and the scalloped potatoes were unreal- just the perfect amount of creamy & cheesy not overdone. The chocolate soufflé was to die for. Highly recommend if you’re looking for upscale dining!!

Delicious local food. Quiet atmosphere and the waiters were attentive and nice. The chef's special pork chop was so good! The Elkridge Furnace Inn changes its menu seasonally. So please keep that in mind when checking reviews before you visit. What you see on here may not be what they have available at the time of your visit.

To start - we've visited the Furnace Inn a few times and always came away satiated and in good spirits. However, with this visit, we had a wonderful server in Christian and above excellent meals (Seafood Thermidor and Delmonico steak - and desserts of course). Christian was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, the history of the Inn, and was a pleasure to just chat with. The food has never been subpar, but it somehow gets better with each visit - shout-out to Chef Dan! Whether you're there to celebrate an engagement, birthday, or just there to enjoy a restful evening next to a cozy fireplace, this establishment is for you.

The Elkridge furnace Inn is a great spot for an intimate date night or celebration of an anniversary. Located inside of a house, the atmosphere is very cozy and inviting. Some updates could be implemented to help improve the decor however. The food and service was top notch, very professional. Something which could be expected to be seen at a upscale steakhouse in DC or Manhattan. Excellent wine list to pair with your meal. Minimal selection in spirits (whiskey, bourbon l, rye, vodka, etc). Pleasantly surprised when chef came out and spoke with us. Overall I would recommend this place without any reservations.

Great service, a really unique menu. I liked the drinks and the home grown and foraged mushrooms a lot. unfortunately just didn’t really like all of the offerings as much as I thought I would, and I wished it was dimmer and more intimate of a dining experience.

I food was good not great. Not what I would call a value. The drinks on the other hand were amazing.

Attended the Alice in Wonderland tea today and the staff, decorations and details were wonderful. Also the live readings from the story were a lot of fun and added to the whole experience. Most of the food was quite good but a couple items were disappointing. For the first course, the scone and tea were lovely. The second course, the soup was barely warm and the salad didn't have enough dressing (there was a tiny bit on the bottom of the bowl). I think the soup had been sitting out quite a while before being served which was a shame as would have been perfect if it was hot. The third course was gruyere and mushroom quiche, a deviled egg, a fried oyster and a small piece of bread with ham. The egg and fried oyster were good however the quiche was cold. Like just taken out of the refrigerator cold. I have never had quiche cold before, so I asked the waiter if that was intended and they said yes. Sadly, it wasn't very good cold and would have been much better hot, especially with cheese and mushrooms. The bread with ham was very simple and dry. Could have benefited from some sort of spread on it. The last course was the desserts and all were pretty good, and the Eat Me cookie looked great with the Alice decor. The green tea sorbet was wonderful. I really loved the location and theme, so paying attention to the temperature of the food would have been perfect.

The Bridgerton Tea wasn't the greatest. The establishment clearly dropped the ball on this. Not a great experience. The tea sandwiches were dried out. The staff didn't take care and consideration in preparing the tea sandwiches. The venue was extremely short staffed for the Afternoon Tea even though it was paid for months in advance. Just a major disappointment. Definitely not worth the money.

I attended I Love Paris Tea and left a bit disappointed. The service only included one cup of tea per course rather than a full pot, which felt limiting for a traditional tea experience. While the limited tea offering was underwhelming, the host focused more on personal updates and upcoming events than on the Paris theme, which took away from the overall ambiance. That said, the food was beautifully presented and truly delicious.

I was so looking forward to The Elkridge Furnace Inn, where we elected to celebrate an 80th birthday with a special dinner. The atmosphere is charming and elegant- the space is historic and lovingly cared for, but even that has certain challenges (only one bathroom that doesn't require stair usage). The menu looked fantastic and interesting. The waitstaff was young, but eager to assist. However, the food quality was generally just okay. A mistake was made on my Delmonico steak- I ordered it medium rare and it arrived well done. I'm not going to eat a well done steak, especially one that costs $48. Once I was able to bring it to a server's attention, they instantly addressed the problem and as soon as possible, they were back with a perfectly cooked, delicious steak. The problem is that everyone else at the table had finished eating by then, so I had to try to eat as fast as possible to try to keep everyone from waiting. Also, I do not like that they plunked cold butter on top of the steaks. Perhaps if the steak had been hotter when they applied the butter that would have been fine, but my steak (both of them) arrived with a cold pat of butter on top. I had the Leek and Cope's Dried Corn Bread Pudding as my side. It was cold, crumbly and frankly- inedible. My French onion soup was fine- a bit bland. I tasted my dining companion's cream of mushroom and it was divine. I also tasted another dining companion's butternut squash and it had a surprising and very tasty flavor palate. The Stuffed Rabbit Leg was good, though the mole sauce is on the rather spicy side. Unfortunately, the Seafood Risotto was disappointing. The risotto was starchy and the shrimp were woefully overcooked. The Furnace Pom Spritzer had more syrup than a Shirley Temple and was overly sweet. I did enjoy my house-made chocolate and hazelnut ice creams and the birthday girl enjoyed her cheesecake. At this price point compared with the food quality, I do not believe we will return.

Very very expensive, quite small portions. Your eating here for the prestige... Genuinely... Just not worth it. If im spending over 60 dollars, there needs to be more food on the plate, even if its good food.

Our wedding held at The Elkridge Furnace Inn (Garden House) in September 2025, unfortunately did not reflect what was promised or what couples should reasonably expect for an event of this importance. Despite a contract that included coordination and setup, approximately 30% of our décor was never used, including a custom piece that required significant time and expense to create. These items were left unused and had to be retrieved later. At the ceremony, the arch that was supposed to be set up by venue staff was left outside in the rain. The issue was not corrected by venue staff. Instead, the DJ and the interim coordinator rushed to move the heavy arch just moments before the ceremony began, creating an unnecessary safety risk. A major breakdown occurred immediately before the processional. The ceremony began while the bride was still upstairs in the bridal suite with a distressed child. No staff member checked on the bridal suite, provided prior notice that the ceremony was starting, or escorted the bride to the ceremony space. The wedding party and family were already sent down the aisle without the bride present. The bride then had to rush down the aisle while attempting to calm the child, with the processional music already ending. This moment, intended to be meaningful and calm, became chaotic and emotionally distressing. During the reception, communication issues continued. The groom and DJ were told it was last call at the bar, but shortly afterward guests were turned away and told the bar was already closed, even though many were still in line. Although this was later addressed, it negatively affected the guest experience. At the end of the night, while packing was still in progress, a staff member entered the house yelling for everyone to leave, even though elderly and disabled family members and a sleeping child were still upstairs waiting to be escorted out once vehicles were ready. This conduct felt unnecessary and unprofessional. It is important to note that not every staff member was unkind. The event had considerable breakdowns in coordination, leadership, and basic duty of care. The venue’s marketing emphasizes hospitality, seamless coordination, and personalized attention. The experience described above did not reflect those promises. These were not minor inconveniences, but significant failures that directly affected the couple, the ceremony, guest experience, and once-in-a-lifetime memories. This is shared so future couples can make informed decisions when selecting a venue.

Early in this process Elkridge Furnace Inn lost their Wedding Coordinator and the Owner, Donna, took over. At this point wedding coordination took a nose dive. The invoice had numerous errors requiring me to drive 35 minutes to Elkridge to discuss and correct because I was not able to reach Donna by phone. During the tasting event menu components such as biscuits were left out. When Donna was made aware she stated they didn’t have biscuits in the kitchen that day but promised they would be provided during reception. During reception multiple items were not served, including the biscuits and the vanilla ice cream. During the wedding and the reception many coordinator tasks, such as printing and placing seating place cards, were left undone and friends and family had to step in to complete them. Prior to the wedding the bride was required to re input the same guest information and menu preferences numerous times. Over the last 2 1/2 weeks since the wedding we have reached out to Donna in an attempt to discuss and find a resolution. Numerous phone messages have been left on her answering machine, and with the front office and with the second owner, husband of Donna, as to our concerns and to please return our call. After 2/12 weeks we have not received a response. The invoice was paid in advance and it included a hefty coordinators fee. Coordinators input was absent and because of thismany avoidable mistakes occurred during the wedding and reception.

Around the end of October I decided I wasn’t going home for thanksgiving and decided I would order out for my dinner. I heard good things about this restaurant and I saw there was a special menu for that day. I called the restaurant to see if I could get a single course and the lady I spoke to said she would call back with an answer. A week later I was told the Chef said it would be fine and that I would have to pick it up on thanksgiving, which was fine with me. I called back with my selections and the lady at the restaurant said she would call me back with the price. I called several times and left a message. She finally called back the Monday before thanksgiving only to tell me the owners said no. I could not believe it. Now at the last minute I had to find an alternative. This was very unprofessional and I got the run around for a month. Hence, that is why I have them the rating. They will never have to worry about me going to there restaurant! Dr. LadyT

I understand that the menu changes seasonally but for me it was heavy on seafood. Even the Cesar salad had sardines in it! Personally I don’t like anything that we ordered. I found it tasteless (without seasoning) and in some cases cold when it should have been warm… just overall disappointing for the price
