I come here like once a month and I never have complains about the dim sum and dishes, they are so good and I highly recommend !
Dimsum and Chinese restaurant just like it's supposed to be with one difference. The staff are very polite unlike other dimsum spots (if you know what I mean). Food was great and had all the regular things as well as the non typical dimsum foods.
I love Ocean Bay restaurant! The food is always excellent, with reasonable prices and good portion sizes. The ambiance is great, and the servers are very attentive. I've brought my parents here twice already for their birthday dinners. My only complaint is that they don't accept American Express, but other than that, everything is great!
Worth the wait. Definitely a subway destination. The parking lot is not opened for restaurant patrons until after 3pm on Sunday. Their parking lot is reserved for the nearby church until 3pm, so finding street parking took about 15-20 mins. Then, we waited about 45 mins for a party of 10. BUT... that was the only unsatisfactory part of our experience. The long wait was partially our own fault as it was a Sunday and we did not make a reservation. After getting seated, everything was great. Friendly staff with carts and carts of delicious food. The food was fresh and hot. The tea was aromatically scalding. Everything was delicious. Will definitely be returning.
This is my go-to dim sum place. Great service and excellent food. Whenever we have family come to visit we usually bring them to this restaurant. Authentic Cantonese food. Large selection and good quality for dim sums. I especially love their rice rolls, they make them fresh in the kitchen per order. They don't sit out in the dim sum cart and get all dried out.
Pretty good dim sum spot in Elmhurst. It's not too busy in the morning on weekends. The dim sum selection is pretty typical. Nothing really that stands out but nothing really bad to note. We had to wait quite a bit for more rice noodle rolls as it seems like those sell out fastest. Can't go wrong here.
This is your local soul food cure restaurant. if you’re looking for dim sum and Cantonese style Chinese cuisine, it is definitely reasonable price for the amount of food. It depends your idea for quality and experience of the food. sometimes it is just a nice local community area for catching up with friends eating sharing fun times and enjoying a good meal together along with people you love and like. Sometimes we all exist for a good time . I for sure had a nice heartwarming meal with the people I love and care about 👍🏼
I’ve been coming to this restaurant since I was a kid. They closed for renovations for a little while. So glad they’re back in business. It could be a hit or miss sometimes but most of the time their dishes hit the spot and a lot of their fried dishes are cooked well. The Peking duck buns were mostly skin this time around, a little lacking in the meat department. The mayo shrimp was perfectly executed. Overall a solid restaurant, good for big parties.
I have been interested in trying this restaurant since it opened (I frequented this location when it was Ping’s who had the best fried calamari in my humble opinion). Since the closing of East Ocean Palace in Forest Hills, patrons have probably flocked to Ocean Bay so it gets crowded and this is not one of the larger restaurants. Flushing’s Lake Pavilion’s food quality has been so disappointing as of late so thankfully the food is very good here in Ocean Bay. We have our standard favorites such as the shrimp with mayo sauce and walnuts and clams with black bean sauce. We were a party of 4 with eyes that are bigger than our stomachs so we limited ourselves to just 5 dishes (that is what I consider self control). Delicious and satisfying at approximately $50 per person including tip. Service needs some improvement as it was slightly challenging to get a waiter but I would give them a pass considering it was Chinese New Year. I will have to return for dim sum lunch to see how they compare to Asian Jewels in Flushing. There is a valet parking lot which they share with the New Life Fellowship church (formerly the Elk’s Lodge that housed ECW events: “E C DUB!”) and getting in there can also be challenging during peak hours so plan accordingly!
I've eaten here a few times. They have dim sum and the food from their menu is quite delicious as well. The place can get crowded really fast at times. Service is pretty good unless they are busy. It's a great spot for groups and families. I like the fried walnut shrimp, crab meat fried rice, and French style rib eye steak. Their soup is good too. As for their dim sum, come here if you're a local and don't want to travel to Flushing for some.
This is a pretty decent dim sum place being relatively clean, with and additional paid parking lot across the street. The atmosphere itself is pretty good additionally with clean bathrooms. On the food it’s pretty decent, and is averagely priced. Overall this is a decent dim sum restaurant while also being pretty convenient
Came here during lunch it can be hard to find street parking, but you can park across the street in the parking lot for a fee. The is the same restaurant that used to be on prince st in Flushing. They have dim sum and traditional Cantonese style cooking. Salt and pepper pork, fried flounder, eggplant and salty fish were really good. The golden fried rice used to be much better. Overall it was an okay meal.
It might have been the time we were there (2pm) but regardless dim sum should be hot not cold. The heater thing was not turned on in the dim sum cart so everything got cold. The har gao was not it tho. That was just a dumpling with a shrimp on top. See picture … Some of the kitchen dishes were good but no bueno on the dim sum sorry! I love the parking availability and servers were nice.
Went to the restaurant with my best friend. I gave the 5 star for service for the staff only they were very nice and accommodating . The managers on the other hand were horrible. We wanted to split the bill with 2 cards and they said it would be a 5% charge cause we can only use one card, which is absurd!! I have been coming to this restaurant for a very long time before it was Ocean Bay, it was Pings. I don’t know why management has gone down. They need to put notice in writing and posted outside so there’s no discrepancies for patrons that are dining in the restaurant. I’m so disappointed on how the managers handled the situation. Now I have to look for another restaurant that serves dimsum.
horrible establishment. it's our first time here and they didn't even honor my reservation till later. The waiter was nasty since I was still trying to make my orders. he became agitated and impatient . He did not seem to understand English . he didn't like that we asked for more water since one of our guests almost choked on her food and needed water. try to be more understanding and compassionate. when paying the bill the server was hovering a few inches over trying to see if I included the gratuity on the bill (which I did).
Updated: January 28, 2025:I went for the Chinese New Year’s with a group of friends. The food was not good at all, was cold and the service was poor too. We had to ask a number of times the waiter for our plates we ordered. The dishes were not cooked properly. The chicken was not seasoned that well either and the other foods that we had were cold and not properly cooked and did not have no taste to it. It was also very expensive for the amount of dishes we ordered and the poor service. I have had better food in other Chinese restaurants. My friends had wanted to go to this restaurant though I told them was there before and the food and service was terrible. They said last time they were there it was ok, therefore; decided to try them again but no improvement. If I can give a zero I would. 2024: The service was not the greatest for Dim sum. A cup with chicken fingers was cracked. Brought it to their attention it was like talking to death ear. I order beef fry rice and it was tasteless and very small piece of beef. It was the worse Dim Sim I ever had. I would never go back. If I can give a zero I would. This was my first time and last time.
