One of the best Indonesian restaurants I’ve ever visited! We tried their Batagor, their crispy Kulit, their complete Mie Ayam, and their Nasi Goreng Kepiting. Everything was so good, well-seasoned, and balanced! The employees are also very welcoming and warm. If you’re around, give this place a visit!

I came here with my Indonesian friend to try some authentic Indonesian food, and everything was absolutely delicious. The chicken satay was packed with flavor, especially with the peanut sauce and cucumber. The nasi goreng and mie tek-tek were also incredibly tasty. This place truly made me fall in love with Indonesian food.

I love Indonesian food, and this was my first time trying it at this restaurant, and it did not disappoint. The food is outstanding. I believe there are differences in cooking styles depending on the region in Indonesia. I've mostly tried Javanese dishes, but this restaurant offers a different style of Indonesian cuisine that I had never experienced before. I'll definitely go back. Just keep in mind that parking can be a bit challenging if you drive there.

I recently dined at Sumatera Restaurant NYC, and overall, it was a delightful experience! Food: The food was flavorful and authentic! I especially enjoyed the rendang and the nasi goreng; both were well-prepared and packed with spices. The portion sizes were generous, making it great value for the price. Service: The service was friendly and prompt. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and offered excellent recommendations. There was a slight delay in getting our drinks, but it didn’t detract from the overall experience. Atmosphere: The atmosphere is vibrant and inviting, with charming decor that complements the cuisine. It’s perfect for both casual dining and special occasions. I highly recommend Sumatera for anyone looking to enjoy Indonesian cuisine in NYC. I look forward to my next visit!

Chicken satays are delicious, creamy. Ayam goreng sambal ijo is very yummy, the sauce is so good. Ayam bakar Padang is sweet and spicy, so flavorful and creamy 😋

The fried chicken was good so was the green chili sauce. But the portions were a total JOKE. It was one of the skinniest drumsticks I’ve ever had and my friend’s beef dish came with like literally three small chunks of beef! Note that these are regular portion sizes since the restaurant doesn’t offer a lunch menu. Given the price point, would never return.
