Rudy's has never failed me. Ever since my first visit at the old downtown Oakland location, to today. I haven't been in a couple of years, decided to take my kids out to breakfast. Food was on point, eggs perfect, pancakes smacking, everybody's plate looked immaculate. Definitely refreshing to get food and service on par with the price.

Great food, quick service and a cute atmosphere. I got the corned beef hash and eggs, pancakes, French toast, Popeye omelet. The only thing we could’ve passed on were the pancakes, they’re pretty average. Also, the fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit juices were delicious

So I heard Greenday once owned this restaurant and through its success they sold it to the employees. This all shows with the level of quality in the food and enjoyable staff who really hook it up with fantastic quality. The place is more of a casual diner/ brunch spot. I highly recommend the unique takes on classic foods here.

One of those restaurants where you order and pay at the counter, we ordered the a chicken sandwich and chilaquiles breakfast, both were delicious and servings size were big. Service staff was courteous and friendly.

This place will satisfy your taste buds and your tummy. Lots of options offered on the menu and will definitely be back to try more items. Just the right vibe for a diner and staff are friendly and attentive. Street parking is so so depending what time you go but food is worth the experience for sure!

Onion Rings were cold, steak was under cooked and sent back. The waitress delivered poor service but her co-workers covered her pretty well. I enjoyed the IPA's half price during happy hour. I will go back for sure because I always enjoy myself when there.

Great coffee. Options for meat eaters and non. Creative menu choices. Hip/trendy urban flare for the interior, from the outside I expected more of a 50's diner - super cool though! I recently revisited this diner after a years, and unfortunately, I was quite disappointed. It seems that things have changed for the worse. We ordered three dishes and none of them impressed us. The fresh orange juice was far from fresh-squeezed, which was a letdown. Additionally, the dining experience has shifted—there's no longer table service. Instead, you have to place your order at the bar and pay upfront, which felt more like a fast food setup than a diner experience. To make matters worse, our food was delivered at different times, so we couldn’t enjoy our meals together. The only bright spot was the coffee, which was surprisingly good. Overall, I left feeling underwhelmed and unlikely to return anytime soon.

rudy's can fail, actually. i don't know why this should even be a controversial take when there are other brunch spots in the area that blow this one out of the water. and who thought "diner opened by the green day guy (no, not even the one you're thinking of)" sounded like a recipe for success? it's not that anything is cooked particularly poorly; it's just squarely unimpressive and lacking in flavor. maybe the sandwiches are better than the potato and egg fare, but the likelihood of me returning to find out is fairly low. before i ever ate here, i used to joke that i assumed staff were contractually obligated to play green day songs over the stereo with a certain degree of regularity. hilariously, this does actually seem to be the case. the playlist was suspiciously dense with the band's hits when i went there. i don't even dislike green day or anything; i just think that's funny. you have to admit that's pretty funny, right?
