Need to make a return trip to try their peach cobber.was way to full this trip.to the staff at Pontes diner, thank you for a great dinning experience. Yall are awesome.
This is such a cute little 50's style diner. I've been here twice now and it's a very solid little place to get breakfast and/or milkshakes. They will really try to accommodate anything you ask! I was feeling like a latte but since they don't have an expresso machine, the waitress was willing to concoct a fancy coffee with the syrup they use for the milkshakes. It would be really fun to get dressed up in 50s style clothing and takes some pictures there!
Ponte's is a great diner serving classic food your family will love. We just moved to Fairfield and were glad to find a nice homey dinner we can enjoy. Great breakfast stop. 10/10 would recommend.
Our waitress was kalrissa or something with a K Was super nice and helpful, it was our first time there. Even though we been to Fairfield many times just never gave this place a chance. But it was worth it. Prices and portions were great. Would definitely be back.
Love the oldies theme. Food is always good. They were swamped last night and the waitstaff still did a good job. Big tip for that young lady who hustled for us!
Small places are normally the best. Great customer service. Chips were hot and salsa was so gooood! My husband and I had the enchiladas and they were yummy. A friend referred them to us on our way through and we're so glad they did. Right off the interstate.
Had a great time! The food was so fresh and delicious. Stopped by on our way through town. Wish I could order one of everything on the menu! Chicken fried chicken, was crispy and melted in my mouth. The fried okra was flavorful and fresh. Get a float or some ice cream!!!I recommend 10/10
Good food & great service. Definitely a good place to stop, stretch your legs, & eat a good hot meal while traveling to Houston. Easy off & back on the interstate & I'm sure the locals find the location to be convenient too. Clean & welcoming place for sure!
Great home cooked style meals and service. They also provide complementary chips and salsa. I loved that most customers seemed to know each other, seems popular with the locals. The place got fairly full on a Wednesday for lunch. The staff was super nice and attentive. We stopped by on our way to Houston and happy we did. My picky sons (7 and 11) devoured the food too! All reviews were great, which is why we decided to stop by. The only thing is that the place could use a little updating, but minor compared with the warmth of the staff and the yummy food 😉
Stopped in at this restaurant on our way to Shreveport Louisiana. I had the chicken fried steak with potatoes and charro beans. The beans were some of the best I have ever had. Perfectly cooked with amazing seasoning. My friend had a Mexican plate and he said it was outstanding. Our food was piping hot and the wait staff was very nice. Highly recommend!
Great burgers at reasonable prices, and a great staff! Love the retro style & vibe!! I highly recommend a stop in for a meal!
We stopped in on a Saturday on our way traveling from Central Texas to East Texas and saw the parking lot was full - which is always a good sign when you're looking for a place to eat in an unfamiliar area. My husband I both had the chicken enchiladas which were very good. The meat was seasoned so the enchiladas were very flavorful, delicious, and served hot. And it was nice to see that in a time when restaurants are trying to skimp on staff (or just unable to even get staff), Ponte's had plenty of employees so the service was attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant.
My family and I went for a late lunch before heading to Galveston. The staff were extremely friendly, the manager was polite as well. The food was amazing. They were out of vanilla ice cream for their shakes but the manager was able to substitute another flavor and get exactly what my husband wanted. None of us were able to eat all of our food. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely be back.
We went here on Saturday and were very impressed. There was a total of 9 of us including a mini one that I felt was fussing too much. The waitress made a point to try to help (even brought out some ranch for her). With 9 of us I was almost certain something would go wrong(that's just my way of thinking) but nothing and I mean absolutely nothing went wrong. The food was top notch and so was the service. Oh and the peach cobbler is the best I've ever had. I'll definitely keep this gem in mind anytime we need a stop at the halfway mark.
Great food, good atmosphere, great prices!
Old fashion diner with great food & service. Food is always fresh. Big selection from the menu . Breakfast served all day. Steven is a very attentive waiter.
Just wanted to say that my wife and I just finished having the best Salisbury Steak with Mashed potatoes and brown gravy that we have ever had, Hands Down! It was served hot & ample portions, & get this: my wife doesn’t like onions and figured that she would have to pick them off but we casually asked if they could serve it without them & the server said no problem. The Texas toast was buttered just to be crispy and flavorful but not dry or greasy. We don’t live nearby (from Dallas), but we both liked it so much that we said it would be something we would make a special trip to enjoy ourselves again. (***We ate it so fast that we didn’t even think of taking a picture of it to post , sorry.) Strongly recommend stopping to try their food if you’re in the area!!! As I told my wife if I was at my mom’s house with food that good I would normally lick the plate clean (didn’t figure it was appropriate for me to do out in public). Have a great day and if you ever get the chance stop in here for the wonderful food and service.
Really like this place! They have really yummy cheese enchiladas, quesadillas, & a good taco salad. Also really like their white queso. Lots of high school aged kids that work here, but everyone has always been very sweet. Highly recommend a visit!
This place is so cute! I feel like I’m in a 50s diner - nice clean and the food was great! We got kids grilled cheese, chicken fried chicken( they make their own batter)! Great service will stop here again!
Don’t let the location or exterior fool you!! As soon as we walked in it was a beautiful atmosphere, great service, and exceptional food. Would come again.
Wow! What a great dining experience. The waitress was sweet and attentive and nice to talk to. They made a special cheddar and beef fajita carnivore omelet for me which was top notch. I would definitely recommend Ponte’s Diner!
The food here is amazing and definitely a bucket list place to visit. It’s been two years since I’ve been back from Florida and it was better than I remembered!!! So Awesome!!
We get to-go orders at least once a week and it is always so good and made to your order. Plus they are very friendly over the phone and repeat your order to you. Thanks Ponte's for such great food and fast n friendly service.
Everything was good. Service and frill friendliness was great a good place to put on your list to stop by.
We’re passing by and we’re hungry. We saw a bunch of cars in their parking lot. I told my hubby is got to be good. Well it’s was…the food was delicious! The staff are very well trained, beautiful personalities & the food came out fast. Even the orders to go were fast. On believable!!! Keep up the great job! We will return for sure… The Taylor’s from H-Town
I did not order any food but I just had to leave a review!! My car broke down last Sunday and I was stranded 2 hours away from home and these people were the sweetest people I've ever met! I was literally having the worst weekend ever so they really brightened my day! They let me sit in their diner until my ride could get there. They were very sweet from the second I walked in! They all greeted me with open arms. The way that they interact with the customers as I was sitting there was absolutely amazing! I wish I could have remembered the ladies name but I do know her brother's name is Anthony as he was kind enough to pick me up and give me a ride 🙏🏼😇. Even though I didn't have the money to order anything she was still very sweet to check on me along with this other waitress that was working there as well! Like I said I didn't order any food so I don't know how their food is but I will say the customer service and the atmosphere is definitely a 10 out of 10 ❤️ I hope to have money one day so I can stop by there the next time I'm out there and hopefully be able to try the food this time. Thank you again for everything that y'all did for me 😁
Met friends here for breakfast. We were a group of 7. The waiter was very friendly and took our orders quickly. Our meals came out in a reasonable amount of time. Food was delicious.😋
Very good restaurant. Great food and service.
A friend of mine from out of town came to Dallas while I was living in Huntsville. I wanted to find a place in between us to eat and catch up and Ponte's diner is the place that I found. I was hoping it would be good and I'm happy to say I was not disappointed. The food and the atmosphere was great and the servers were really nice and accommodating. My only regret is that I did not have dessert while I was there.
I stop here every chance I get going between Waco & Nacogdoches. My favorite is their mushroom and Swiss burger with onion rings. Or, get onion rings to share as an appetizer and have fries with my burger, because they're good, too. I also love to get their jalapeño poppers appetizer and eat it as my entrée. One grandson gets their burrito, another gets breakfast, and a 3rd gets something different almost every time. Good stuff! Great service, too.
Awesome Diner experience love the ambience with the 50s music rock and roll I had a simple turkey club it was fantastic wait staff was great
I decided to stop because I saw a completely packed little small hometown diner... If the hometown folks are packing this place out then it's got to be good. And boy am I glad I came in yep.... I asked what is their most purchased item and the waitress said burgers so, I had cheeseburger with bacon all the way then an order of homemade onion rings topped off with two cups of water. Fantastic friendly service they have adapted and overcome by putting up large plexiglass between the booths, waitresses and waiters have to wear masks and I'm so glad I stopped. Great food great service at a good price what's not to love. I now have this little gym on my maps and will be stopping on my way through again some other day.
Omelette and grits really good. Coffee good and cup never ran dry.
I have eaten at Ponte's many times. It is clearly a prime attraction filled with locals. My friend knew 4 differamt groups this occasion. Obviously, the restaurant is well liked. I ate the BLT sandwich this time with mashed potatoes rather than fries. Both were excellent, with fresh bacon, lettuce and tomato. However, a great sandwich is differentiated by great bread. Ponte's bread was very good and lightly toasted; delicious. I like their enchiladas, tacos, quesadillas and routinely get these items. They also serve smaller portions if requested, which is excellent as I am not always looking for a big meal. Their service is always first rate, attentive but not pushy. Above all, they are very friendly. Overall, the restaurant is kept clean and tidy. They recently overhauled their toilets, which is a big improvement. The ambiance is certainly 1950's/'60's dinner. This is because it is! I enjoy visiting Ponte's.
Great food. Clean place and friendly staff!
Everything was great, food, service, atmosphere. Server gave great recommendations, we will definitely be going back!
The food makes you smile, the atmosphere has a 70's vibe, and that is something I have never seen (or ate) anywhere else. It is a terrific establishment. Go here if you're in Fairfield. The food's great, the price is cheap, and the service is awesome. The only critique I have, and it's a microscopic one; if the waiters and waitresses were on roller-skates, 5-star all the way. Support this business, take my advice, and eat here.
Great food and service. We choose a take out experience. I'd highly recommend.
Highly recommend. Great old time dining. Food was excellent. Chicken fried steak was my pick. ... And the Chips and salsa was just as good.
Food was really good, service was great. I had the Philly cheesesteak sandwich & it was good! Usually I find most are bad but this one was actually good!
Excellent food huge burgers and fries. Handbattered onion rings were very good. Combo of American Diner and TexMex Diner. Locals love been there since 1988.
We loved everything about this place. The waiter was so sweet, and the diner felt retro and comforting in the best way. The food was really good, not a single complaint about anything we ate. The mac & cheese was the standout, and the little peach cobbler special was such a nice touch. We’ll definitely be back on our next road trip to East Texas.
It was so yummy! I had the mini street tacos and the meat was flavorful and tender! The salsa was fresh and the prefect amount of heat. My husband said his was delicious, I can't relent what it was called but it came in a big bowl thing with every kind of meat! And he had the fried stuffed Jalapeñoes and he said they were homemade and perfectly done. The restaurant itself was nice and clean, and the staff were super attentive!
Wow!! Where to begin!! We were skeptical at first as we had never been to Ponte’s (pahnees as we learned from locals!!) but after reading numerous reviews we were sold!! The 50’s atmosphere truly takes you back to grandmas house!! They even had seasonal Easter decor set out *pictured below*. Our waiter was very polite and helped us pick the best items. The lighting fixtures were superb!!… *pictured below.* Our chips and salsa arrived and they were on par with the top Texas Mexican restaurants!! *video below.* They even let you refill your own drinks at no extra charge!! The kiddos loved that part. Not to mention they have the good ice!! *video below* The cherry on top was the vintage straw holder!! The rumors are true, they are not a myth!! *video below* The beef fajitas arrived sizzling and left our tummy’s satisfied!! The bacon wrapped hotdog and fries were stupendous and they even allow you to salt the fries to your taste!! Very generous. Thank you, Ponte’s, for the family road trip memories we made on our stop!!
My first experience at Ponte's Diner was a pleasant one. I was welcomed and seated promptly. The wait staff were very attentive to everyone in the diner. The courtesy shown to me while being served was comparable to that of going to visit grandma as a kid. Also, food was delicious and the prices were were decently priced. Thank you to everyone that works at Ponte's Diner, you made me feel like family and I appreciate your hard work. I will definitely be back!
This was a my first time here, just passing through. This place caught my eye because there were so many cars parked out front. I ordered a medium guacamole. The menu had so many choices that would be able to please everyone. Burgers, Mexican food, breakfast food, shakes, malts, sodas with the flavorings, and banana split.
Whenever we find ourselves in Fairfield, my uncle's local favorite, Ponte's Diner, never fails to impress. This being my second visit, I chose a cheeseburger with fries, eagerly anticipating a complimentary meal. The cheeseburger I enjoyed was a true delight. The flavors were simple yet satisfying, each bite carrying a sense of comfort that made the experience thoroughly enjoyable. The patty was tender and flavorful, and the melted cheese provided a classic touch that hit the spot. Ponte's Diner boasts a friendly staff that adds a welcoming touch to the dining experience. Their genuine hospitality contributes to the overall positive atmosphere of the establishment. As a reliable fixture in Fairfield's culinary landscape, Ponte's Diner continues to leave a positive impression. Whether you're a local or a visitor, the warm ambiance and authentic fare make it a charming destination for a satisfying meal. Best regards, Draven Loa
If you’re hungry come here for breakfast or lunch and you won’t need to eat for a week afterwards. I stop by every few months and it’s always good. Plates are definitely shareable if you’re a normal sized eater. I get the omelette often but the biscuits and gravy are excellent too. Actually everything I’ve tried has been good. Definitely worth a visit…if your passing by on IH45 take the exit, you won’t be disappointed.
Excellent. We arrived on the Sunday after Thanksgiving; the busiest travel day of the year. It was packed. Luckily a table became available, which was very quickly cleaned. The server brought us menus promptly. On asking about gluten free food, he asked the lady in charge to speak to us. She was very helpful and advised us what was available. Our order came quickly along with delicious hot chips and salsa. My Senior order of hamburger steak along with sides of fried okra and corn was very nice. My wife's gluten free salad with grilled chicken was also good. The price was extremely reasonable, even with the good tip we thought was well deserved. This is the fourth time we have been here. The first was when it was on the other side of the freeway. Would we return? Definitely!
Service outstanding! Food was quickly served. The young man with the deep voice kept our t ea glasses filled. The diner was clean. Seemed that It is a community favorite dining place. Friendly. We will be going back! I had a Mushroom Swiss burger. Was Sooooo good!!! My husband had a bean & fajitas burrito that was HUGE!!! Portions were very large.
Super cool old-school style diner. We got to eat pretty much everything on the menu during our trip and could not find something we didn't enjoy.
My husband and I was passing through and stopped to get a bite to eat and this place had by far the BEST cheese burger and FF I have ever had! Everything was hot and fresh, seasoned to perfection not to mention the bun was perfectly toasted. The service was very friendly. I highly recommend this place.
Food was delicious! Everything was hot and fresh. Fries was crispy and perfect. The jalapeño poppers were DELICIOUS! I can’t wait for our next trip between Houston/Dallas so we can stop over and pick up more jalapeño poppers. I didn’t care for the milkshakes, the flavor was good but they were not thick and creamy, it was underwhelming after hearing about how great they were. But everything else tasted beyond great.
I’ll dream of the fried pickles at this place! Burger was solid, patty melt and enchiladas were crowd pleasers. BUT- the fry on the onion rings and pickles was just 🤌 chefs kiss
The food is always great!!! Today the service wasn't too good this evening. But they still smiled and tried. So I guess that's what's important. I don't want to be a Karen, but being at work is for work not to flirt with your coworkers.
Great food, server not the friendliest but not rude. Seat yourself but wait for the table to be cleaned and crumbs washed into the floor. Use a napkin to catch the crumbs. (It was the server that did this). The table cleaner was busy at another table. Posted this for learning purposes only. I like the nachos, and my grandson loved his burger. We will eat there again.
This was my second visit to Ponte's, which is pronounced by the locals as "Pahnies," so of course I had to ask... how do you spell it? Well, we found it the first time and I ordered different things to try stuff, like Chicken enchiladas, a Burger, Chicken fried steak, fries, a salad...the best dish for me was the Chicken enchiladas, rice and beans...very ironic since it doesn't appear to be a Mexican restaurant, although the name could be...not sure. Burger meat quality...excellent and not full of grease, although it lacks flavor, which may be why the buns are always filled with sauce. The fries have a ton of potential, but even a sprinkling of seasoning would be terrific because they are Always hot and fresh! (Tons of fries and no flavor = cardboard that need ketchup)! The chips and salsa would give any Mexican restaurant a run for their money, and Tammies Pecan Brittle is the reason I actually return from 3 hours away! The young staff members are always nice, and I'm assuming that they may not be accustomed to people placing orders online, and driving to curbside for pick up, because when I did, a young female immediately approached my car and asked me to move over one space, which confused me for a sec...I had to tell her that I placed an order online, and wanted to step in and buy Brittle, because I didn't see it on the menu. A better approach would have been to ask before rushing out and telling me to move over, basically get out of curbside. Once she understood, she told me that I was fine where I was...well, especially because I knew that I ordered online and di not want to park in a spot out front for dine in only customers. Lol Simple tweak fixable in training with a basic question... Did you place a to go order, or are you here to pick up a to go order? Assumptions create feelings... good or bad! Best meal for me... Chicken enchilada plate, full of flavor! Good return on investment... the Peanut brittle, and I bought the last pack...so the 3 full boxes of Pecan brittle, and I love pecans... were still sitting on the shelf! I still bought 3 packs... but there is definitely a ton there! Peanut is the preference, although I know that variety is important! I need Tammie's brittle at Buc-ee's, or closer to Austin, Tx. Lol
Stopped by during a road trip, and was happy to find such a fun restaurant. The decor is great, old school diner with a lot of personality. Speaking of personality, our server was amazing! Great energy, very kind and attentive, and gave good recommendations. The food is definitely more "comfort food" than healthy, which is great when you need a meal that warms your heart and brings you joy.
The place is an adorable 50's diner theme. Plays great oldies. Serves balls and shakes. The food was all over-cooked which made me said, especially with the prices. The service was only ok. I only visited the 1 time, so I don't have any recommendations. I did enjoy the experience though.
A very nice family restaurant. Fairly priced menu with decent size entrees. Senior and children's menus also plus daily specials. Seating seemed a little close for a small space and I'm sure if they would even accommodate larger groups upon request. Friendly staff. Clean restrooms with no gender designation. Thanks! Definitely recommend!!
This is a good old fashioned American Diner to ear at on a road trip. The restaurant is kept clean and service was good. My crackers were stale and my waitress brought a fresh batch right away and those were good. My chicken pot pie wasn’t exactly what I expected but everyone has their own recipe. My husband’s chicken fried steak was very good. All the sides we ordered were tasty - mashed potatoes, fried onion rings, French fries, fried okra. Very likely to stop again in my way to Fort Worth from Houston
Definitely worth checking out. Been here a couple of times recently. The food is actually fantastic. Service & atmosphere are good. Servers are professional & adequate but not super welcoming or attentive. Onion rings are the secret here. One order was very good, other order was possibly the best I have ever had. Fajita beef was very tender & flavorful. Honestly, this is one of only a couple of places in Fairfield that actually has great food.
Nicole was the worse server we have ever had in all of our 25+ years of eating at Pontes Diner. Extremely rude. Astoundingly disrespectful. So disappointing we may never eat there again.
The service was good food was good I personally would have liked more options as far as breakfast other than that I recommend it
Food was okay, service was excellent! Would consider going back if I was passing through Fairfield, but would not make a special trip just to eat there.
We always stop here when we’re coming through and I like the food however they’ve recently done some updating and that includes unisex bathrooms which I HATE And might be enough for me not to stop again
Doing a 10hr break before pick up in Palestine. They have truck parking. Parking is ok. However, it probably gets bad when it rains cuz it's a dirt lot. I had the club sandwich with onion rings. It was really good. Lemonade was a fountain drink. Not good for me. It was too sweet. You can also taste and smell the saccharin as you are drinking it. The waitresses there seemed nice friendly and with Good customer service. My waitresses was acting kinda weird. When she first approached me to ask what was I going to drink, she stood beside me almost behind me and leaned forward a bit to ask what was I going to drink and left a menu. When I received my order a young guy brought it to my table. I was thinking where's my waitresses and what did I do to make her feel uncomfortable that she did not want to bring me my food herself. I was polite. I did not say anything to offend her. I had More than enough money to pay for my meal. Though I thought she acted kinda strange, I still left her a tip. I probably would of had better service with a smile next door at taco bell. Will I return? Maybe. If I do I will sit at a different table so I can have a different waitresses.
Patty melt was not like the ones you see pictures. White bread (not toasted) a patty and a few onions. Not good. Onion rings were good but cold?
This was a favorite go to but ... food was bad, service bad and no refund. Won't be going again
You'd think I would learn my lesson when choosing a dinner destination. It seems to always be something thats forgotten or a lack of quality without anyone accepting responsibility in the end. Why bother offering to go orders if you cant get things right? This time it was stuffed jalapenos, queso, and salsa. Seems straight forward. Im halfway home and realize there arent any chips in the bag. I turn around as I call back to tell them about the chips. I arrive to get the chips and no one comes out with my chips. I can see there's not one person dining inside. I wait. I then decide to call them to let them know I am outside only to have the manager answer the phone with a greeting that ends with "we arent taking any more to go orders". I again explain why I am back at the restaurant. Eventually a kid comes out with a bag of chips. I get home and realize that instead of ranch dressing that comes with the stuffed jalapenos I received cream gravy. My chips are in one bag inside of another bag that has 2 orders of salsa in it. So now I have 3 orders of salsa and queso with one bag of chips. What a waste of food. I call back to let someone know about the lack of ranch and again the manager answers the phone immediately stating that they're closed. Why? I dont care. I explain that I received cream gravy instead of ranch and she says that they were "really busy tonight". Im done with giving my money to this "joint" four times a month and all I can say is if you eat here, prepare yourself for disappointment with no accountability. The end.
