Where to start? Hand’s down THE best place we have ever eaten at. Me and my partner visited here during our stay at the Cave hotel for his birthday. We had to be cheeky and ask for extra of the complimentary soup we had been given before our meal as it was so good! Everything we had ordered was OUTSTANDING! Shoutout to Rui for his amazing customer service also, so polite and attentive. The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful, so calm and relaxing. We drove 6 hours for our stay here and are already talking about coming back (we left 2 day’s ago.) just for the food here again… it really is so good. Well worth the money. Thank-you to the chef’s working hard behind the scene’s and all staff at the front. Stunning!
We had a wonderful family lunch at the Cave Hotel in Canterbury. The Christmas decorations were beautiful and created such a warm holiday atmosphere from the moment we arrived. The food was excellent, and there was something for everyone to enjoy. The staff were incredibly professional and especially kind to my little boy, which made the experience even more special for us. Everything felt calm, welcoming, and worth every moment. Definitely a great place to dine during the festive season and any time of year!
Absolutely loved it here! The atmosphere is so sleek and romantic. The food was impeccable and the staff are so nice and friendly. Would defo recommend this restaurant if you want a quiet date night with your partner.
We was staying at the hotel this restaurant is inside (cave hotel) for a night for our 12th anniversary, and I honestly am so grateful to the wonderful staff and chefs for making our anniversary dinner so special 🩷 We had a later reservation but attempted to see if we could squeeze our reservation earlier, which thankfully we could! We was served by a lovely waitress at first.. named isabell ✨ she really went above and beyond to help accommodate me as I am vegetarian and there was only a handful of things I could have, she went out of the doors to the chefs several times to check if changes where possible and made it no issue which I was really grateful for! Along with Isabell, every other waitress/ waiter we had brought out the food and done check backs in a professional, friendly and quick manner, I couldn’t single out anyone they all was brilliant. The food was absolutely stunning, I’m Still drooling at the thought of it. The garlic mash was full of flavour especially! The chefs where A* with the food, it was presented beautifully too, we was so grateful to be surprised by them with a happy anniversary dessert which really warmed our hearts 🥰 They really care about what they do. To everyone at the firepit thank you for making our 12th anniversary dinner so special, it really was one to remember! We’re travelling back over the bridge just to visit again. Thank you again!
Gorgeous meal for my birthday treat from my amazing boyfriend he really outdone himself with this place 😍 our waitress was Maddie who helped us with the menu ensuring we made the right choices and boy was she right! the food was sensational every dish full of flavour perfect size portions and great value for money! Highly Recomend :)
Ollie was our server for our dinner at the firepit, he was very polite and professional and explained everything with a lot of detail, nothing at all to complain about! Food was out of the world, would definitely come again!
Ryleigh, Ollie Imogen and thankyou!! Coeliac safe and so vigilant with allergies So many flavours Super attentive You guys are awesome
Excellent meal at The Fire Pit, we were blown away by the high standard of food here. The menu offers a high range of options that are prepared and presented brilliantly. Our visit was made by Rui who was extremely attentive.
This was a birthday treat and I enjoyed every minute of it , the staff were lovely food was great atmosphere warm and friendly Aysa even got me a birthday treat with happy birthday on plate Thankyou would recommend this venue to my friends
This place was 11/10 no exaggeration I actually had to ask them to bring the chef out to thank him the dining experience taste and service was exquisite nothing like I’ve had before and I fine dine a lot
What a WONDERFUL experience. Rui was an excellent host and the food was out of this world. Thank you for the hospitality.
Great meal and experience. Situated within the cave hotel and resort, the restaurant is in an impressive building with a modern vibe. Creative menu based around the “fire pit” concept with dishes taking world wide inspiration. A good cocktail list. All round good experience.
We came here for my partner and I’s anniversary and the service was fantastic, highly recommend.
Possibly the best restaurant I've been too. Everything was excellent from the food to the service. The staff were as good as the food and I am very impressed
Food was fantastic, scenery and atmosphere was perfect. Our server Maddy was very kind and attentive. Definitely recommend.
Cheeky breakfast before golf. Food was out of this world. Service was a little slow but they had loads of room service checks on. Can’t wait to go back to try the rest of the menu. It’s a great place to have attached to the golf club.
Our first time here and we were not disappointed! Amazing food with delicious flavours and excellent service. We can’t wait to return to try more dishes.
Wow what a meal and overnight stay! Don’t get put off by the prices as it’s a unique hotel and culinary experience. The quality of service, amazing food and atmosphere made it a great stay and would definitely return 🥰
Amazing food and superb service. Would highly recommend. Maddie is a fantastic asset to the venue 👍🏻
What a stunning restaurant! Me and my boyfriend celebrated our anniversary at the cave and had our evening meal here. Both the food and service are incredible and we had such an amazing time. The black cod and the Thai style rice was to die for! Highly reccomend x
Had an early evening meal at the Firepit, had heard good things about this restaurant so was looking forward to it. First impressions the restaurant is well decorated and comfortable. We ordered the following 6 plates from the Firepit menu. 1. Korean beef skewers, chilli, chive, lime 2. Curry fried chicken, curry leaf & lime yoghurt 3. Spiced lamb cutlets with mint & lemongrass glaze, pistachio crumb. 3. Sticky thai fried rice, with Fried egg. 4. Smoked USDA short rib in a sticky Asian sauce, slow cooked for 9 hrs. 6. Charred tender stem broccoli with aged black vinegar, cashew, caramelized red onion, sesame seeds. Finished of with this desert: Chargrilled sticky toffe ginger cake, bourbon caramel, stem ginger ice cream & toffee apple. Everthing we chose was extremely tasty and well presented. This isn't a cheap eat but in my opinion it was well worth it, staff are knowledgeable and very helpful, we will definitely be back. Thanks Firepit Team
Honestly Amazing. The food was filling and had a world of flavour in every bite. Everything hit the spot perfectly and would 10/10 recommend, was a great dining experience and a great meal out.
Lovely afternoon tea at the firepit restaurant. The staff were all really professional and friendly. The sandwiches, cakes and scones were delicious… especially the scones! The ambience was very nice. We had a child in the group and they provided a child menu (2 courses for £10). We will definitely be back.
Absolutely unreal experience, amazing food service and wine! Would definitely recommend. Well worth it.
The food was amazing. I truly enjoyed every meal that was presented. The guys (chef) were definitely on smokes. Brilliant meals. Also want to thank Maddy for her incredible service, made a sumptuous meal even more memorable. Highly recommend .
Amazing dinner with a great combination of flavours and proportions. We were severed by Maddie and she was extremely attentive and helpful. Will definitely come again
Stunning food delivered by our waitress Ibby who was so lovely, checked all was OK throughout our meal, you could tell she cared about our dining experience, great addition to the beautiful surroundings. Couldn't have asked for a better service.
An Unforgettable Night at The Fire Pit Restaurant at The Cave My first night at The Cave was truly special, thanks in large part to the exceptional dining experience at The Fire Pit Restaurant. I invited my brother and nephews to join me, and we decided to indulge in the tasting menu with the wine pairing — and it was absolutely to die for. From the moment we arrived, the ambiance set the perfect tone for the evening. The meal items were perfectly curated, each dish executed with precision and bursting with flavor. The wine pairings complemented every course beautifully, elevating the entire experience to new heights. The service was impeccable — attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm. It’s clear that the staff takes pride in providing a memorable experience for every guest. This restaurant is in a league of its own and is an absolute must-visit when you're at The Cave. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just seeking a remarkable dining experience, The Fire Pit Restaurant should not be missed. It’s a culinary gem that will leave you craving your next visit.
Food and drinks were amazing, however it took a while to get the bill but Ollie was very good with service and was able to help out straight away with a smile and politeness
Me and my boyfriend stayed here for the weekend for my birthday I was very happy here, The staff was very friendly. It was a beautiful weekend. Highly recommend.
We had such a good time! Exceptional attention to detail. Highly attentive service in a comfy high end setting. We had allergy concerns in our group. The chef and team went above and beyond to cater with supreme awareness, which dishes were acceptable. Plenty to eat from a fairly varied menu. Yes expensive.... but we were worth it! And the passionfruit cocktail🍹.... beautiful. No space for dessert though.
I went with my Wife just before Christmas as we wanted a nice lunch with the kids before the festive period began. It was lovely, quiet and had the 'private' feel we were looking for. Someone who made it memorable was Ben. He was really friendly and personable from the start. We go to a lot of restaurants, but Ben stood out for some reason. As we got deeper in conversation we discovered Ben was one of the Directors of the business. This really impressed us as Ben was wearing uniform like everyone else and serving food and beverages like everyone else, never would have guessed he was a Director. As he didn't make himself 'too important'. He told us he had worked his way up in the business and this made a lot of sense, as his customer service was noticeable impressive. This is what has prompted me to leave the review and will have us returning back. The Firepit take pride in their food, staff and customers and it shows through the dining experience. Thank you Ben!
Amazing restaurant. Shame we cannot give it more stars than 5 on here. My partner and I have been very fortunate to eat in many top restaurants including Michelin Star places and we must say this is one of the most wonderful places we have eaten in. The food was outstanding and although not a Michelin Star restaurant it totally out shines many Michelin places we have been to. Our waiter Rui was exceptional. He was very professional friendly and genuine. He made us feel special and he is an asset to The Firepit. The Chef is a genius in designing each of the dishes on the menu. We cannot wait to eat at this fabulous restaurant again and have already told many friends about it as we plan our next visit. Thank you so much.
Absolutely amazing place! The food was delicious — full of flavour and beautifully cooked. The service was brilliant from start to finish, and the staff were so lovely and welcoming. You can tell they really care about their customers. Everything came out quickly and the atmosphere was great too. Couldn’t fault a thing — we’ll definitely be coming back!
We came here for our anniversary dinner and really enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere. I’m vegetarian and they had run out of a couple of the veggie options but went out of their way to ensure I had a good meal and made something slightly different for me. We were both very happy with the experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming too.
The best restaurant in Kent. Please do not hesitate to try this restaurant. Find out for yourself but there isn’t anything else out there like this, the quality of the ingredients combined with the depth of flavour within the dishes is unquestionable. My favourite place to dine out.
Willow went above and beyond expectations on service provided. One of the best restaurants we have dined at. Treated us with respect and professionalism and maintained friendliness. An asset to the business.
Outstanding food with so much variety in taste, texture and presentation. Up there with the very best restaurants. The service equaled the food both Rui & Isabel were fantastic, best service I have experienced in a long time. Thank you!
The most unbelievable food with fantastic service and the cosiest but elegant atmosphere! Went for my mum‘s birthday dinner tonight and it will be a go to special occasion restaurant, will be recommending to anyone. Most definitely a dress up nicely restaurant so fantastic for special occasions, anniversaries, birthdays etc.
Had an enjoyable lunch at the Firepit restaurant. Although disappointed with the Voodo Shrimp which was small and overpriced, mostly the food we ordered were tasty and enjoyable. The staff were attentive and professional and the atmosphere relaxed. We particularly enjoyed a nice drink outside on the terrace after lunch which topped off a wonderful afternoon. Slight issue with the random waiter asking if we had for our drinks when we asked him for direction to the car park... We wouldn't be leaving if we hadn't paid. Overall decent place that i would recommend
Had a great meal last night with my family. The two gents looking after us were superb, but the other chap (tall bald man I assume was the manager) seemed to be more interested in playing cards with the barmaid than looking after us. Apart from this, the food was incredible and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Would recommend.
We had the tasting menu at £75 ahead.... I think it would be better described as a tapas selection, having experienced tasting menus before, this was bit of a dissapointment. The food was really nice don't get me wrong, however, the only dish I would say that was 'up there' was the banana soufflé. Service was fine, but the staff didn't always seem to know what they were doing ( i.e when I asked for the wine by name I was asked to point it out on the menu ) not something I would expect from a restuarant of this calabre ( £££) when the tip alone was over £50. The atmosphere was fab ( if on the dark side) but the whole feel is rather swanky. Personally though I would opt for a more exciting food menu than the luxurious suroundings. But we are all different....
Really looked forward to going and even booked in advance for a Saturday evening meal. Had to ask someone where the fire pit actually was as could only see signs for the Korean Cowgirl. We were served by at least 3 different people (that was OK but got mixed messages from each one) the concept from what I understand is that you order 5-7 dish’s and the chef sends out the best combination for your choice. What we actually got, the starters we ordered, then 1 main with 1 side and then another main with your other chosen sides. I have attached the photos of a £65 sharing!! Steak, and a £25 single chicken breast. The cost is not an issue if the food was good but when you’re serving dry chicken and cold steak you have to question the kitchen and what they are trying to pass as high end food, just because it’s expensive dosent automatically make it good. In all I think the restaurant believes its own hype, don’t mind paying for good food if the food is good but this was below average for even a chain restaurant. After spending £200 on a meal for two l I ended up at the drive through of McDonald.
The service was lovely and our waitress was great. But the food was average at best, they try to be different and say u need 6 sharing meals but it all comes out as basically starters and then mains. The starters were boring, garlic bread was really tough and the beef skewers were flavourless and chewy. the mains were ridiculously small for the price, £65 got us about 400g of steak to share. you are better off eating anywhere else to be honest
We ate here on the weekend after racking up a 1k bill which we paid without checking at the time; we later saw random drinks were added that we didn’t have. After calling up to be refunded for the £34 overcharge £33 was refunded. The difference is nothing in terms of money but it’s just the principle and the fact the service charge wasn’t revised in line with the new bill. Is usually a nice place but not for large tables we refilled our own drinks and had to ask multiple times for things that were forgotten defo just a date night for two venue.
I chose this restaurant for my birthday, because we had visited before and remembered it as a classy, high-end place. Unfortunately, this visit was the complete opposite, and we left feeling quite disappointed. Despite clearly mentioning the birthday when making the reservation, absolutely nothing was arranged. Not even a simple gesture like a balloon or a small decoration , something that would have cost them only a couple of quid really. For a bill of nearly £400 for four people, we expected far better hospitality and attention to detail. From the moment we arrived, things felt off. We asked to change our table, but were told it wasn’t possible, even though the restaurant didn’t seem full at that moment. The table we were seated at was slightly dirty, which is unacceptable for a so-called fine-dining place. No one offered to take our coats either, which is basic service at this level. To make things worse, the food just didn’t justify the price at all. We were not very impressed with the flavours and my partner even felt a bit unwell afterwards from the lamb. As someone who is pregnant, this lack of care and quality made me feel even more uncomfortable and concerned too. When you’re expecting, you rely on restaurants—especially expensive ones—to handle food safely and professionally. We’ve been here before, so we know what the standards used to be. This felt like a completely different restaurant. Whether it’s new staff, chef or just poor management, the decline is very obvious. And the final touch? Being offered literally one free candy at the end. After spending nearly £400, this felt almost insulting. A proper complimentary dessert or at least some thoughtful gesture would have been appropriate, especially since it was a birthday celebration — and especially considering my situation as well. Overall, we felt let down and not particularly welcomed. We even wondered whether being foreigners played a role in the lack of the attention and effort we received. Either way, we will not be returning, and I can’t recommend this place for any special occasion. It’s a real shame for a restaurant that claims to offer a fine-dining experience.
We were given a voucher as a wedding gift for the cave,we had heard it was pretty expensive, but if the food is good you don't mind. Well yes the prices are high on the food as well as the drinks, as you pay for your mixer separately. The food , well we didn't know it was a sharing experience, as it was put to us when we sat down. There is not a great selection of the menu, so anyway we placed our order, ordering 5 dishes, first they bought out some bread, very nice, then they bought the beef skewers, not bad but about 2 mouthfuls at a push, then we waited about 40 minutes and then they bought out the 4 dishes in one go. We had curry fried chicken, not good , it was so dry, the creamed spinach was nice on the first couple of mouthfuls, but then I ate a rib, well actually I didn't, I don't know what they marinate it in but it was really horrible and made me gag, I tried to eat some more spinach but the taste from the ribs wouldn't go away. I even tried a chewing gum, so we asked for the bill so we could leave. In all fairness after asking us how was the food, and we said the chicken was dry , they took it off the bill. So overall a very disappointed and expensive experience.
Appalling service from the manager this evening! 45min wait for someone to take our drinks order, 5 mins later food order to be taken however, we were not advised when we were seated they had run out of one of the starters hours ago. It would have been helpful to know this when we were first seated as there were 7 out of 8 of us dining and having that particular starter. Ordered 3 beef crostinis - for £10 you get 2 thumb size bites. 1 hour and 10 mins later we eventually received our roast dinner which was cut next to the table. 2 trays which consisted of 3 yorkies, veg and potatoes - which worked out 2 potatoes each, 2 carrots each and not even so not even 1 Yorkshire each. Tables of 2 surrounding us had one between them so no idea why the chefs sent 2 between 8 people! We did however request more which we did eventually get. Food was mediocre have had better at cheap chain restaurants! Still no further service to ask for drinks or if the food was ok so we had to again ask. I spoke to the manager who’s only response was we’re busy and if you order starters other tables will have there mains before, with all due respect you only serve one menu and the meat is cut next to the table so it’s not like it’s individually served and we ordered 3 beef crostinis which require no cooking and are the size of a thumb! I advised I was not happy paying £50 for mediocre food and terrible service. (May I add at this point a further table of 5 complained about the exact same issues) I was courteous and polite as I explained my issues and advised I would be back after I had finished my meal. After half my meal I asked to speak to the manger again and spoke to a lovely gentleman called Dan who was the supervisor, he went to get the manger for me however no manager arrived just Dan to say the bill had been revised. Grateful for this however it’s bad practice and not professional to send someone else to finish a conversation I had started, as a manager that’s your responsibility to see through to the end not to send another member of staff! So thank you Dan for being courteous and understanding - good luck Dan is all I can say as you’re going to need it!
Left for 1.5 waiting at the table to order to then be told they don’t have half the drinks or cocktails on the menu + half the menu. Plus - we now can’t order the tasting menu we were shown then waited to order. Utter waste of time & money Don’t waste your time, book before 8 or you can’t get any food! Only thing nice was the waitress Go to the ivy in Canterbury 10/10 service & cheaper ;) thank me later
If i could leave 0 stars i would. Went here for food due to recommendations, what a let down. Waited 50 minutes for drinks orders to be taken for the lemonade to be flat. After 2 hours of being there food turned up to be told they are busy, maybe all the staff should work in a busy restaurant that seats more than 30 people. Food it self was a mixture of crunchy over and undercooked depending in the vegetable, the meat was overly fatty and the chicken was soggy like a school dinner . The manager is too scared to deal with any issues so sends his staff to do it. Staff being unsure on what to do when someone has a nut allergy even when told throughout theres a nut allergy they still have to check and couldnt give a clear answer. How this place can be labelled as a premium establishment I’m baffled. The whole establishment is overly priced for a very below average experience, plenty of decent golf courses and restaurants locally.
