Arrivés sans réservation la patronne nous a proposée d’attendre et de voir s’il était possible d’avoir une table car ils avaient énormément de monde 30min après elle est venue nous chercher pour notre plus grand bonheur car ce fut une belle soirée Gustative et chaleureuse. La patronne et son serveur on été super gentil ,lui nous a parlé français de son mieux et nous a un peu parlé de sa vie Tjs un Pt mot gentil quand il passait près de notre table Nous avions dégusté le mix d’apéro tout était délicieux Ensuite nous avons choisi le porc noir grillé au beurre à l’ail et au poivre Tout les 2 excellents Vin très bon Nous recommandons chaleureusement ce restaurant L’accueil du début à la fin même avec énormément de monde Merci pour cette belle soirée

What a delight! Jo and her team are back and delivering delicious food in a beautiful, fresh, new setting in Novo Mundo. We had a great welcome at their new venue, lovely choice of menu and drinks, and walls exhibiting photo art from the talented Stuart Watson! The food and service were superb. Highly recommended by people we met on our holiday and it was very delicious. Best steak we ever ate, and we had many steaks in our lives. Also very friendly people and great ambience It was so good we asked if they had a table available for the other day, so we ate there 2 days in a row. What a fantastic experience! I had the goats cheese and honey as a starter and the tiger prawn as a main meal! The goats cheese melts in the mouth, absolutely delicious and the tiger prawns was enormous and so tasty! The service was absolutely perfect, extremely friendly and kind staff who make all of their clients feel so welcome and looked after! (Jorge did an exceptional job at filleting the fish at the table, we really enjoyed watching this!) Would recommend the Portuguese sausage as a starter, comes to the table on fire (a real show stopper) Such a fun evening and delicious food, thanks so much Novo Mundo!

Incredible food and service - Jo, Fiona and the whole team are so welcoming and accommodating with our 3 month old baby. The steak, salmon with orange sauce and monkfish kebabs were all delicious, with generous portions.

First time in Ferragudo and we had some meals in the square and the food was decidedly average. Passed Novo Mundo down a side street and it looked busy, so we booked for the following night. What a difference, the food and staff are amazing, so much better than elsewhere. I had fish soup, followed by lamb chop and finished with chocolate moose, all brilliant. Jo and all the staff very friendly and helpful. More expensive than other places but worth it. We've booked again for our last night so will take some photos. Well worth a visit.

Although a new restaurant we know the staff are from Fim du Mundo, where we’ve dined in previous years. Novo Mundo is more contemporary but still with great food and wine. Had the goats cheese and honey for starters, which we shared thankfully as the portion is large. Totally devine!! Had the Portuguese steak and lamb chops for our the main courses. WOW! sums them up. Absolutely magnificent and, again, very large portions. You’ll not go away hungry from Novo Mundo unless you’re vegetarian! The service is great, friendly and attentive Can’t wait to go back

Jo und Team sind super nett, man fühlt sich, als gehörte man zur Familie. Das Essen war super lecker. Ok, die Preise sind etwas angezogen, was aber der Situation geschuldet ist, dass hier Pacht gezahlt werden muss. Das Fim do Mundo war Eigentum. Liebe Jo macht weiter so und lasst euch nicht beirren. Wir hatten Spareribs mit Barbequesosse und Filetsteak mit Pfeffersosse. Viel Erfolg weiterhin. Wir sehen uns diese Woche wieder.

Great food and great service. The staff are really nice and friendly. The owner comes to tell you what specials and bits they have on the menu that evening and was chatting football with our kids for ages even though I am sure she had plenty of other things to be doing. We are going back while we are still here. Throughly recommend.

We went to Novo Mundo because a friend said it was the best meal they'd ever had, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The food was incredible, but the atmosphere is what really made the night. All the staff are so friendly, it makes you feel like you are invited over for dinner rather than out at a restaurant. It was the absolute highlight of our holiday - totally recommend. Definitely book ahead, because it's a busy wee place.

Have been visiting Jo and her team for the last 6 years. First in her previous place (Fim de Mundo) and now here. It’s amazing how much the front of house team determines the restaurant experience. Well I'm not as impressed as the other reviewers We went last year as a result of great experiences at the previous location. Alas that was not to be. It was certainly expensive with service and food that was not up to previous standards. The absence of Jo that night might have had something to do with it. Now we are back in Ferragudo I'm tempted to try again but am hesitant to do so. Maybe a sign indicating 'Jo is in' would help!! Riccardo

We visited Novo Mundo in Ferragudo based on positive reviews on Tripadvisor. As starters, we ordered 1x baked mussels (EUR 11.00) and 1x Cocktail Tropical (EUR 16.50 shrimp cocktail). The mussels were not available according to the lady serving us (Fiona on her shirt, the owner?) but she recommended the prawns (EUR 18.50). The tenderloin was also not available, so I chose the Beef Stroganoff (EUR 22.00) and the grilled salmon (EUR 23.00) as alternatives. All in all, not an easy start. About the starters: Cocktail Tropical turned out to be half a pineapple shell filled with pieces of shrimp, drenched in dressing, making it taste like mayonnaise. What a disappointment, and that for EUR 18.50. A better name would be Cocktail Fiasco. The prawns, on the other hand, were well-grilled and delicious. About the main courses: The salmon was well-grilled but served unimaginatively as a salmon fillet in a soup bowl; floating on yellow sauce, topped with a slice of orange, a small tomato, and a leaf of thyme. The Beef Stroganoff was served in a soup bowl with some fries and rice. The meat was not tender and contained sinews. The rice had a chlorine aftertaste and was simply inedible (washed in local tap water??). Given this experience, we did not want any dessert and asked for the bill. It amounted to EUR 142.80. Checking revealed that a Chateaubriand of EUR 45.00 had been added. With some laughter and “sorry guys” from Fiona, a corrected bill of EUR 97.80 was finally presented. Prices at Novo Mundo are over the top, and the food served here is not worth half of it. About the service: No smile at all. When clearing the table, no question about whether the food was to our liking. Conclusion: The prices at Novo Mundo are scandalously high for what you get. You feel like a ripped-off tourist here, knowing that next time you should avoid this restaurant. A disappointment and not recommended!
