Absolutely delicious food and some of the friendliest staff!! And they really take care to make sure not to include any allergens or food restrictions in my food. They even went so far as to custom make some salsa without onions for me because I had mentioned I didn't want onions in my burrito, without me even specifically asking for it! Highly highly recommend!! Also, absolutly love their aguas frescas!
Great Food, Great Staff, Amazing Tamales. I Come here twice a week the food is AMAZING. The only problem is it does take a while to get your food. The place is always busy and food is made upon ordering. WORTH IT
It was my first time coming here. My experience was awesome, from the service I received as well as to the food I ordered. The gentleman was very friendly and patiente. He answered all my questions and completed my transaction in a kindly manner. I ordered tamales, one of Res, Puerco, Queso, and Elote. Although they are not the best ones I've had, they sure have a good taste overall. For this being my first time here with a great experience , I would definitely Recommend!.
Literally incredible burritos and tacos. I used to work down the street from here and would walk over buy them weekly. Impeccable. Scrumptious. California burrito is a must. Oh and I almost forgot the sweet breads, those were delicious as well.
Hidden gem. Great food, generous portions, friendly service. 2447 acres.
This is the best place for Mexican food in Fillmore. This is typical home cooking under wonderful variety. One of the best menu items as their carnitas special. They also have a spectacular bakery. They also sell tortillas and other items. All the food is absolutely spectacular. There is no need to go to any other Mexican restaurant in town. The best thing you can do is eat where all the locals eat... in our wonderful town of Fillmore, California. La Fondita Mexican restaurant is the best.
This restaurant was a great little find in Fillmore. The food is authentic and there is a great variety. We also like the agua fresca to accompany the dishes.
We took a trip to La Fondita from Ventura to buy their chile cheese tamales. It's my tradition to eat tamales on my birthday. Their tamales were the best that I've ever had and I've eaten tamales for many years in many places. The masa was light and not thick and dry like with some other tamales. When I mentioned that it was my birthday the gave us a serving of flan to share. We will be back again soon!
Service was very attentive and fast. We had the pozole and the albondigas. Both were excellent. We think this is a great little restaurant.
I went in Hungry & came out Happy eater. I personally love to have eggs for breakfast and I was not in the mood to eat meat. I wanted to have something like vegetable in it, so, I ordered Huevos con Nopales. Mmmm it was so good that they almost tasted like my grandma Gabriela huevos con Nopales (eggs with cactus). I usually eat half of my meals but I couldn't resist I ate all my breakfast. You will not go wrong eating here in this restaurant in Fillmore California. Coffee was good it woke me up. It was my first time eating in La Fonda!!!
A very clean and pleasant restaurant. Food was tasty, service friendly. I would recommend if you are in the area. Very pleasant experience!!
Very tasty tamarindo, tamales and rice!
Great fresh home style cooking. Had tacos and when the waitress came out there was only 1 taco on the plate. Before I could say anything, she said the cook was making my taco and cracked the shell so she was making me another one right away. Honestly I would've just eaten it cause their food is always good. I told her it was fine but, she insisted that they make another one for me. Will always go back when I'm in town.
They have some very good Tacos here but what really blew me away was their Tamales! I don't think I ever had Tamales that were that delicate and delicious! I don't know if they're available all year or just for the holiday season but I'm definitely going to have more of those!
We found this delightful place on a weekend drive and have been back three times. The people are warm and welcoming and the food is so good! Prices are reasonable, too.
Well, I don't know what happened but the food was mediocre today at best. Had the Supreme nacho platter and it was not anything that I would go back and get again. Even the chips were different. It's as if they changed the supplier because they just were not the same as they have been the last two years . Could be just me but I don't know. Had the chile relleno and for the first time I was disappointed. Both orders seemed as if they had been sitting for a while, especially nachos. Chile relleno was not up to par. Food took way too long to come to the table. I will go back again but next time I'll try the tacos a la carte. Hopefully it will be better next time.
Really great food and not so crowded. The corn tortillas are handmade. The service is great, in such a quiet layed back small town. I go at least twice every week. Great tamales...the shop closes for Christmas eve just to fill there orders for Christmas. Lovely down to earth people...almost feels like your visiting relatives. Near a variety of antique shops.
Food it’s delicious and price it’s there!! You need to try the homemade tortillas!! They are delicious!! Mexican Bread it’s the best!! Always fresh and tamales are top notch
Saw this place in the late spring when me & my wife were in town for a day trip but didn't eat here. So glad we came back. We were seated quickly and given chips & salsa. Our server was pleasant & welcoming. Next came the Mimosas and they were perfect. My wife & I both had the namesake Fiesta Plate which is taquitos (cut in half) wirh your choice of beef or chicken topped with chips & cheese quesadillas with salsa & quac in the middle. It was next level! Prices are really good also for the quality of the food. They're right in Fillmore's cool little downtown. Will definitely come back.
Wish I discovered this place sooner!!!! I was able to snag 5 asada tacos on taco Tuesday at $1.25 each at 7am 12-7-21. The asada tacos were delicious with a generous amount of meat, and the hot salsa was actually hot. Very impressed with this place definitely going to be my go-to from now on.
This is sweet little place with delicious food, friendly staff, and good prices. I got the bacon breakfast burritos and it’s one of the best I’ve tasted. Their salsas and coffee is amazing too.
Great service, excellent homemade food. Everything we ate was top notch like made by mother. Left place very full, could not stop eating everything.
This place has a lot of character, stop by here mid week early in the morning to get a cuppa coffee.
The food is good... the owner super nice, im a regular..
Great fresh food and I really love their salsa. Its a must have.

All was great and we ate to our heart’s content. My wife has been craving spicy menudo with a kick. The home made condiment on the table elevated the heat.
Looks like I found my cozy spot. Food is great
Nice place to stop for a quick bite. Tamales were amazing. Recommend this place when passing through fillmore.
Great, family owned restaurant, food is authentic, portions are good and you can't beat the prices!! Their breakfast burritos are amazing, as are their tamales, asada fries and chile verde, the food is very flavorful and it every time i go, it transports me to a small little restaurant in Mexico!

We enjoy visiting Fillmore for a day trip from Los Angeles. We enjoy the fish hatchery, the historical museum and the antique shops. La Fondita or The Fondital Mexican Restaurant was the first restaurant we tried and just visited again. While the ambience isn't great (very plain, almost hospital cafeteria like), the food, price and friendly service make up for it. The value is excellent and it really feels and tastes authentic. The service isn't the fastest by any means, but they're very friendly. One thing I will say... if you're eating there, sit at a table instead of waiting at the counter. I made that mistake the first time and wasted quite a while. This should go without saying, but stick with the Mexican food... my three year old got the chicken nuggets the other day and it was the literally themost processed meat I'd ever seen. I think in other places this might be more of a 3... but they're value and reliability, mixed with the fact that there's not much else in the area, pushed me to give them a 4. especially because I was excited to try the nearby Central Station bar and Grill and couldn't get seated or even acknowledged after waiting about 10 minutes.
Great home made Mexican food and pan dulce. Family has been serving for 24 years, I have enjoyed the red pozole and albondiga soup, also the fresh made guacamole, I buy empanadas to take home, worth the visit when near Fillmore.
Rustic and slow paced. Chips and salsa were on point, fish tacos were pretty decent.
Love love love their food! Had Chile relleno and tamale was fabulous!everything is good]! Their food is so good but their service is super 🐌 slow. If they had better service they would be perfect!
I continue to try to give this place a chance. I enjoy the tacos. But when I call, they put me on hold and then hang up. It’s a hit or miss. I’ve ordered taquitos before and they’ve came with guacamole. And then there’s times where they say they don’t come with guacamole. Very confusing, but still willing to continue to give them a try.

Nice staff. Food was bland. Took too long to get our food. Black bean tacos were basically beans on a tortilla with some guacamole (ordered without lettuce). No cheese. There is a salsa bar that we did not take advantage of.
The quality of this restaurant has decreased incredibly. Food is inconsistent, the SALSA is never the same. The Pan Pulce is never warm, never fresh. Every time I return, I'm disappointed.
looks good right? its NOT! Their red salsa taste like ketchup with vinegar. Their chicken Taquitos had no flavor. Got bad acid reflux after. The guy that assisted us was nowhere around most the time..was like a ghost restaurant. Not coming bk here.
Extremely disappointed with this place. I was told my food would be ready in about 20 minutes, but I ended up waiting close to an hour. On top of that, they forgot to include utensils with the order. When my wife went inside to ask about it, instead of apologizing or fixing the mistake, the staff gave her attitude.

This place is horrible. The food was disgusting. The service was just as bad. It took over 30 minutes to get our food. When we did get our food our order was wrong. And when I told them we did not get what we ordered they said they did not have it even though it was on the menu. I explained they charged us for it and they just walked away. They gave us no refund or bring us our correct order. If I could give it a negative star I would give it negative 5 stars. If you eat hear your as dumb as the people who work there.
Waited an hour for our food and nothing. We had to ask for chips and salsa about 25 minutes after waiting. Meanwhile two other tables that had been seated after us had already been served their meals and were almost done and yet we still didn’t have our food. Finally left the establishment when the clock struck 60 minutes. Worst service ever AND they weren’t even packed to use that as an excuse. They’re just slower than molasses.
To start this review let me just say the wait time is ridiculous! We waited 40-50 minutes for two adult meals and one tamale with 2 plain tacos. After the long wait we each got our plates at different times. They arrive with the plates and i see that the portions are extremely small!!! The price is not worth it it seems like we pay high prices just because they have a low amount of customers and just want to keep their doors open. My plate came with tortillas and the wait for that was long if not just as long as we waited for the food by the time our waitress came with the tortillas she saw we were done with our meal. We then asked for our check im typing this while we wait for it lets see how long its takes them to bring that!!!!! Moral of this review is dont eat here if you want a decent mexican style of food this establishment degrades what us mexicans and latinos cherish which is great hospitality and respect!!! Save your money and dont show up!!!
I loved this place.... but today I had the worse service EVER. First of all my little one asked for apple juice they were gona check if they still had some and in the 2 hours we were there she never came back to let us know (my daughter still kept waiting)I ordered orange juice which I never got ... my parents ordered menudo... both came back wrong.... and then after waiting 45 minutes for my food it's still brought wrong I declined the food. I've never had such bad service here before and it was very disappointing.
We had our union meeting there last week , it was horrible! They're shrimp were old and stiff ! We ordered shrimp cocktails and they had no avocado because they ran out . After speaking to my coworkers about it they told me there food sucked to and that they were out of other things. Seriously these meetings bring more than 30 people and is planned ahead of time and even like that it was a joke ! What's truly sad is that we are most likely taking our business somewhere else. Personally I'll never eat from there again
It took a long time to bring the food, and when they did it was only one plate at a time. Meaning waitress would bring one plate and we had to wait for few minutes before bringing another plate so on.. of the order. They forgot the tortillas and my son' s order. My husband order as he waited, waitress comes over and says there no more of what you order . So he order something different he's order came first , before my son's order that he had order way before. 😕😠
Me and my wife each ordered Albondigas but our first impression of this Albondigas was this is Potato Soup with a couple slices of Carrots and a few Meatballs the was for sure a Carb Lover's dream a bowl full of Papas and absolutely now squash, celery or corn just Potatoes this cost us over 40.00 don't buy the Albondigas.
