I had a truly lovely experience at The Spice Quarter in Cardiff. I visited there during the afternoon, and it was such a delightful way to spend my lunchtime. The food was absolutely amazing—full of authentic flavors that really transported me to different parts of India,As someone who enjoys eating curries from around the globe, I can honestly say this place stood out for its genuine and rich taste. I own Lonely Traveler Productions, a company dedicated to exploring culinary delights worldwide, and I must say, The Spice Quarter’s authenticity really impressed me. I enjoyed every bite and appreciated the warm, welcoming atmosphere. I’ll definitely be returning for more delicious curries and to experience more of what they have to offer.
Great Indian food, well cooked, quite original.
Delicious and well made Indian food. The chicken Tikka starter was tender and flavorful, and the butter chicken was rich and creamy. Superb friendly service
I ordered a delivery from this place for the first time a few days ago. The food got here quick, was hot and was very tasty. Chips were fresh, thick curry that was mouth watering, and really tasty keema naan. Very happy with my order, and would definitely eat from here again.
This food is amazing and such good value for money! If you come to Cardiff you have to visit here
Lovely Indian in the lively brewery quarter. Friendly staff, though they seemed to be short staffed, so service was a little slow. Food was really delicious and they tried to be accommodating as possible.
It is my first time, and I have enjoyed all the moments. Their chicken is so delicious and testy.
Gorgeous food and gorgeous drinks. Everything is freshly made and generous with the meat portions too. I had a butter chicken for main and it was lovely. The cocktails are also lush, especially the pina colada🥰
It was 8 September 2025 (Tuesday) Had yummy veg thali included with onion bhajiya , naan, mushrooms palak and paneer everything was so yum 😋 except the rice. And the rice pudding was so delicious. Bit disappointed because the starter (paneer shashlik) came at the end. Rest enjoyed the meal.
Exceptional. Fantastic food. Excellent service. A modern yet contemporary feel to the restaurant. Food was. Amazing! Simply amazing. Highly recommended and will definitely be back!
Nice restaurant in the centre of Cardiff. Seating is upstairs which helped make the atmosphere calming and comfortable. Probably the best the city has to offer for Indian food.
Very nice meal and great service, highly recommended.
I popped in to have a quick dinner before my departure back to London. Wonderful Management and staff. Very professional and efficient. The food is delicious. Consistent attentiveness whether it will be for a couple or huge groups. I would definitely recommend. Book in advance for busy days like Friday, Saturday and Sundays... Or walk ins by 6pm for seating. Thank you and when I'm back in Cardiff, I'll definitely be back.
Very nice restaurant to dine in as you won't find these indian dishes anywhere else. The staff are always helpful & friendly.
Nicely spiced food, not knock your socks off spicy. Service is good and it's open late.
Nice Indian restaurant located in the city centre. Good quality of the food, the service is fast, quiet and friendly.
Great service and great food!
Fantastic food, the nicest Indian meal we've ever had.
A regular spot for our yearly Cardiff trip. Food is always delicious and impeccable service.
Fresh , quality meat , best keema naan ive tasted , big thank you Will definitely be back
Went to dine with my friends and had an amazing experience. Enjoyed amazing food and drinks. Everything is freshly made and generous with the meat portions too. It was a little bit busy but service was very good.
Great service, lovely food and quick service. Only comment is if you’re sat near the door it does get a bit cold.
ryle fernandez was funny and entertaining, we loved him and he made our night.
Ignoring all the negative reviews, we went there last week and it was totally worth it. Great food with drinks and well service, and amazing atmosphere. Will surely visit again to try more cuisines when we are back in Cardiff.
Very good food! No wait to get a seat, not long wait for food and very good portions
Thank you guys, service was wonderful and food was fabulous. Last time I came here on my stag doo, will come again 5 stars!!!
Our first time in the spice quarter, Monday night a good atmosphere with a half full restaurant, the service was excellent as was the food. Highly recommended. Wife says fantastic wine to complement the food, flavours were pourful but subtle, fantastic taste. Will suit all types of clientèle with mild fragrant to hot and spicy. EXCELLENT
A very enjoyable experience. Really welcoming letting choose a table the suited us. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Poppadoms and chutnies were a cut above the usual with interesting Everything was so fresh and tasty. Starters and mains were well presented and full of flavours. Nice place, nice people and great food, completely worthy.
I recently visited Indian restaurant Spice Quarter, and it was absolutely amazing! I have never had tastier Indian food in the UK before. Every dish was bursting with authentic flavors, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I can’t wait to go back — truly a hidden gem for anyone who loves real Indian cuisine!
Ryle was lovely, made a point of conversing with our table and was a lovely host. Made sure to explain everything too us ensuring we were not lost at all during the ordering process.
The food is so delicious. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the place looks amazing . Highly recommend it.
Authentic Indian food, great taste and very good quality meat. Slightly on the upper end of spectrum if you are looking for a cheap option but the taste is worth the money.
Amazing food and lovely staff! We had a lovely experience from start to finish, reccomend the masala and garlic + coriander naan, they were both delicious!
How fabulous. Fitted us in last minute. Delicious food. Fabulous service. Great customer contact. Definitely come here again. My second visit by the way..love the place... food is fabulous and I've been to India.. highly recommend. X
Mains were outstanding, the price was great and the atmosphere was great. The papadums weren’t the freshest and the chutneys were basic. The service was lovely.
Beautiful place. Me and my friends didn’t book but the staff was able to find us a table. Overall great lassi and mains. The samosas was not as good as we expected and we wouldn’t recommend it. I had a spicy main ( 3 chili) but it wasn’t really spicy , nevertheless really good. The staff was not especially friendly but that’s more to do with indian way of serving I believe. Would recommend the place.
Nice Venue, Clean and Tidy - Lovely Decor - Staff were courteous and friendly - Menu was a bit limited but good range of drinks on sale - Service was good and Food was superb tasted good and presented well - Reasonable prices
My go to Indian restaurant when in center of Cardiff. They do more traditional Indian dishes. My Madras could of been hotter in spice levels. Beer when waiting, Madras, bindi, pilau rice and naan bread for around £26. Nice decor and friendly staff.
A very nice Indian restaurant with a great setup and good lounge music. The food is delicious and comes in generous portions that a person with a small appetite might not finish! The only downside of this restaurant is that it lacks fresh air!
Located in a prime location in Cardiff city centre, nicely decorated and we were accommodated without a reservation. Service was friendly and reasonably quick, certainly no issues. Menu was attractive and varied. I was quite surprised by the prices compared to other Indian restaurants I've been to. Most main course dishes were around the £14 mark. When you add rice or whatever your choice is, it's very nearly £20 just for your main course. The bottled Cobra was £7.15 and they duplicated a couple of small items on the bill that I didn't notice until the next day, albeit on a few quid. The food was of good quality, with my chicken being very tender but disappointingly mild considering it was shown on the menu as being the highest level of spice offered. It was a nice experience but I wouldn't rush back. 3 of us, 1 drink each, no starter or desert, poppadoms and main course. Just under £100. A bit pricey.
The food was average and didn’t quite capture the flavours of traditional Indian cuisine, something felt a bit off in the seasoning. On the positive side, the service was attentive, and the restaurant itself was clean and welcoming. Overall, it was an okay experience, though I do wish the food had been more flavourful. It was also slightly on the expensive side, our group of 15 ended up paying over £50 per person.
Lovely quite ambiance.food was delivered quickly. Starters were really tasty but the quality wasn’t worth price. The mains the chilli murg was good but the murg biriyani was okay.Lacked flavour and felt blanch. Overall not worth the price.
Booked this restaurant at very short notice and were easily accommodated. When we arrived, we were very taken in by the beautiful decor. The service started off being very attentive, but very quickly started to feel as if we were being rushed through our food and out the restaurant as quickly as possible. The food was absolutely delicious, with some curries I had never come across before, the leftovers the next day were very good also. The bill was also extremely reasonable for a restaurant in the centre of Cardiff. Overall a very good restaurant, although the service would put me off visiting again in the future.
The food quantity is very less for the price and tastes okay. Service is very poor took ages to get our order. Not very happy!
Disappointing. The murgh chilli chicken was high temperature, moderate spice and the coating on the chicken went soggy in the sauce. The flavour and heat was all in the sauce which reminded me more of a hot and sour rather than anything Indian. Uncomfortably close to chicken nuggets in sweet and sour with chillies I'm afraid. Best avoided. Don't do coatings on chicken, it stops the flavour permeating.
Very nice looking restaurant and attentive service, apart from them getting our drinks wrong three times (gave one of our group a Cobra instead of the Coke we asked for). The food was pretty bland minus the spices (nearby Indian takeaways have better flavour).
Shockingly bad service. Waited almost ten minutes for someone to even approach us to be seated, despite staff simply walking right past us without any acknowledgement at all. Once eventually seated, the service was very slow even though the place was less than half occupied. Had to ask for someone to take a drinks order and then had to ask again to order poppadum's while we chose our meals. Main meals were uninspiring - not awful, but bland and two-dimensional. Very disappointing. Definitely won't return.
Dreadful from start to finish, poor service , missing food , asked for drinks 4 times and still had to go up to the bar and complain before they served us. Had the cheek to add a service charge then when I asked to speak to the manager at the end his excuse was that they were busy and I had only booked the day before 😐 when in fact we booked 48 hours before which has no relevance anyway! Will never visit again.
Service is shocking. Waited for half an hour before they came to take the order. When it came it was all the wrong dishes. Food is nothing to write home about either. Would not go back. They firstley put four grown men on a table for two. Had to ask to be moved. Bad exsperiance all round.
I am greatly puzzled by how a restaurant can operate a full service with one waitress. We tried to eat there last night…29th December….the place was packed out and there was one poor waitress serving. I asked her if some of the staff had called in sick and she told me it was always just her serving. We arrived at 7pm and by 7.25 still had not been asked whether we wanted any drinks. Poor girl was run ragged. I spotted food waiting on the side to be sent to table and realised at that point if we did get served how long would it take and how hot would it be? We left at 7.30 and went somewhere else feeling very disappointed as the place looked nice and the food looked nicely presented. Can I just understand what is going on here? Are the owners so greedy that they won’t pay for more staff? Are they not able to afford it? The place was full…but several tables walked out after us…get more staff and you’ll make more money.
