Wife and I took a weekend trip to San Antone and New Braunfels to hit up tiki bars. This morning we were discussing where to have breakfast and she mentioned this cute café about 1/2 way back. Sounds good to me. We pull up and have primo parking right in front of the doors. I don't know what else happens in this tiny town but this place was about 1/2 full around 930am. Our server was prompt and checked in on us several times. Food portions were above average in volume and really hit the spot. This will now be a stopping point as we head home. Great little place. Gig'em.

Let me start by saying this. I would have given this review all 5 stars if it wouldn't have been for the service. We drove specifically to Flatonia to try the brunch here. We arrived and were greeted and seated politely. We ordered lattes and then asked to move tables because the vents were blowing really hard where we were seated, and it was freezing. After that, we didn't have anyone come to our table for a very long time. Other groups came in and were brought waters and drinks long after we arrived. Finally, the original server asked if we ever got our drinks, and the answer was an obvious no as our table was still empty. We finally got our lattes but no waters. We NEVER got water until we went up to the front counter to ask for it. It was very busy and it took a while to get our order in and to get our food. Once that finally happened, I was quite a bit happier with our visit. We had the chicken fried steak with eggs and the Cinnaroll French Toast with a side of bacon. The meal itself was excellent. The CFS was good quality meat and crispy fried with cream gravy and eggs over easy. It was $19.50, which is crazy high for CFS. The french toast was excellent and a hefty portion. The bacon was thick cut and delicious salted pork bacon. I loved it, but it was $4 extra for a mere 2 slices, and I also think that's a pretty hefty charge. I feel they overcharge pretty heartily on some of their meals and not others, but the food is great, the building is very nice, the lattes were delicious, and there's even a boutique inside that you can shop in while you wait. It's super cute too. Like I said, service aside, I give this place 5 stars.

Every. Trip. We. Stop! Every trip we take to Houston we always leave a little early to stop and eat breakfast. The food is amazing, the history of the building is fascinating, and the staff is friendly. I always order the same thing at every breakfast spot, three eggs, bacon and sausage and here it is almost too much food. If you’re on interstate 10 it’s worth the short drive from the highway to have a great breakfast.

I try to stop at new restaurants in new cities in all my travels, so I’m glad I stopped here! Cute restaurant in Flatonia (a city I’ve never even been to) with a gift shop attached. I ordered at the counter in the center of the shop for brunch/lunch. She told me they weren’t serving breakfast anymore and I was quite sad about that. Hesitantly, I had to order a sandwich but there was a good selection of burgers and sandwiches. As I’m eating my sandwich, a lady that came in after me apparently ordered pancakes because I saw the same girl delivering her pancakes that told me breakfast was over, so that was a bit irritating. I guess certain people can still have breakfast whenever. At every table there is a flip book with lots of great info on the store and the owners and a super cool discount list! I’m sad to say I didn’t go into the gift shop because honestly, I forgot about it since the entry is closer to the back. I’ll try to remember for next time! Stop in here for a quick bite cause it’s super cute and yummy!

We were coming home from San Antonio and needed a place to stop for lunch. We googled nearby restaurants and Darlin’s Diner came up. I’m so glad we decided to stop. Flatonia is an adorable little town and Darlin’s Diner sits right in the middle of the town strip. The restaurant is absolutely precious. Very vintage and trendy all at the same time. There are a few instagramable spots inside. The whole restaurant has a cozy and welcoming vibe. The service was great and the food even better. Please, ignore the finger indentations on my burger — I picked it up before I remembered to take a photo. The food prices are very reasonable. I also had a vanilla latte and it was 🤌🏼 chefs kiss! A little pricey, but good. Not what I was expecting. Not home cooking or really comfort food or especially healthy. Good large hamburger . "Chikie" tenders heavily breaded. French fries from frozen. Breakfast menu looked good. But migas more scrabled egg over a few tortilla small strips. Not migas. Salsa cold mushed tomatoes. Tea cloudy and tasted old. Waitress very pleasant. You order at counter and are asked to tip before you leave. I like to tip after service so zI know how much to tip.

Cute place. Food is pretty good. Pricey but what isn't these days? I'm not a fan of ordering and paying at the counter. Plus leaving a tip before you even know what service you'll get. So bring cash for tip. I would have liked a refill but it was never offered since you don't really have a wait staff. Plus you'd be asked for another tip. The atmosphere is nice.

Took a short drive to get some lunch and look around town. I like the look of the place. Especially the black and white pictures that line the walls. It tells of another time in the world. I truly enjoyed them. I was seated at the counter as the place was busy but not packed. I waited for quite a bit of time before someone came to take my drink and food order. My food came out looking great. The fries were fantastic. I truly enjoyed them. The burger was good. It could have been better. There seemed to be no seasoning on the meat. I tried it by itself several times and nothing. There is also a little shop to take a look at while you are waiting on your food or after.

We’ve been here a few times. The time we went and the owner was walking around - FABULOUS. TWENTY STARS. We went again today and the staff was very young and service was non-existent. No refills. No check ins. Just a group of teenagers picking each other up and laughing behind us near the bar. One young girl in a dress running her legs off was able to be flagged down and she coordinated some coffee and Diet Coke refills for us. The food is still superior (best salsa I’ve ever had!) and I hope today was an off day. We love the place and just offer this as kind feedback.

Wanted to find a brunch place in this small town my significant other and I went to. Found this place and missed brunch aw 5 minutes. We decided to still order something. I got a turkey wrap but as you can see there wasn't anything in the wrap. More bread than anything. My other got a burger, egg pie (I think that's what it's called), and fries. He only liked the fries. The Macha fries were the best thing we ate here. Macha and had coffee for drinks. The drinks were great. I would love to give this place a second chance and try the brunch next time we decide to stay in town. Every else was fine. Wait staff, very clean and nice atmosphere.

Update 7/31: Prices have changed for the avocado toast which is not updated on the website. We sat at a table that was very sticky and dirty, the waitress just watched me wipe it down with my hands, no offer to clean it. We ordered a cup of soup, which was brought up at the end of our meal because they made a fresh batch. We'll, the cheese on top was firm, clearly had been sitting out. The hot sauce was empty. No spoon or silverware or napkins provided until I asked. I'd still really love for their to be more vegetarian options. $12 for one slice of bread with avocado and an egg is wayy overpriced. Kids meals were served in these awkward bowls where their burgers just kept sliding apart. They were tasty though, just not a great design. I want so bad to love this place as it's convenient for us, I just can't justify the price after today's experience. Kids burgers are $9 and does NOT include a drink. * First time visit during the week, we went for breakfast and got there just after they stopped serving in order to switch to lunch menu. Thankfully, the lady sitting next to the women taking my order was able to let the cooks know and made some delicious chocolate chip pancakes. The soup was just ok, and the avocado toast was nothing special but tasted fine. Fries were yummy but not a very large portion for the price. Overall, we had a good experience. A little pricey, but that's everywhere now. They don't have a huge menu, especially for vegetarians. Atmosphere is super cute though! We will probably go

We’ve visited a handful of times before when we’re in town visiting family, and it’s usually a stop we look forward to, especially with the cute shop in the back. Unfortunately, this visit was very disappointing. It took close to an hour to receive our food. When it arrived, the fries were cold and undercooked, and the lettuce on the burger was slimy. The kids’ meal didn’t come out until about 10 minutes after the adult meals, which made the long wait even more frustrating. For four adult meals and one kids’ meal, the bill was around $90, which made the overall experience hard to justify. We were really hoping for better based on past visits.
