Had a great lunch with my sister. She had breakfast and I had a patty melt. Try em out!
Great diner type restaurant in Forney Downtown. We love to go there on weekends sometimes. The service is very friendly, nice and quick. The breakfast 🧇🍳🥞food is amazing. They have great coffee ☕️ too. Highly recommend this place, specially since we drive to Forney just to dine 🍽 here!
Love this place in downtown Forney. Great breakfast as always. Our fave server is Luis. So nice. So friendly. With a smile on his face all the time.
One of the best old school diner cafe . Long time staple in the Dallas area . Forney location will not let you down . Home style cooking great breakfast and daily featured meals.
I was a little skeptical at first going here because of the reviews. I ended up getting the Denver omelet with biscuit and gravy, which was out of this world. They weren't stingy with the meat, and their biscuits and pancakes were made from scratch, given it a good homemade flavor. I've been to a lot of places that say that they have great biscuit and gravy but do not through I can say For certain their biscuit and gravy in a league of its own top tier in addition to pancakes were good too I really enjoyed my meal thank you mama's daughter diner for serving me this Out of this world breakfast.
Love it here! This place doesn't disappoint for a good country home cooking place. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly, came by to check on us and refill our coffee/drinks regularly. Prices are great too. Portions are pretty big, so it's perfect if you have a big appetite or if you want to share. Everything I've had here is what you expect and the taste is consistent. Plenty of free parking, clean restrooms, and most importantly nice and welcoming staff. Laid back atmosphere.
Small Hometown cafe, the best comfort food!! All the best country home cooking. People are friendly and welcoming.. Really made me miss Barry Illinois and the cafe on the square.. must visit if you are out this way or a neighboring town!! oh!! make it before 2pm.. "small town hours"
This is what down-home food, service, and atmosphere is all about. The food is fantastic. Good ol southern comfort food like my grandmother used to make in her restaurant in Clarendon, TX. Mama's Daughters' Diner reminds me so much of that time. Brings back great memories. Great job!
Best pancakes I’ve ever had!!! Great service time and very sweet people. Little loud but it’s because it’s a small place and there was a LOT of people. This place is obviously the place to go!!
Was great Wendy my server was the nicest lady ever helped me decide what to chow down on. Went with the meatloaf onion rings green beans and corn all of which was as good as expected. Will certainly be back, hungry for more.
The food was fantastic, the hashbrowns were homemade, the biscuits and gravy was so good it was like eating at your Grandma's house were everything was fresh, and homemade, The staff was friendly and our waitress was very attentive! We will definitely be back!
Country cooking excellence! Sweet, attentive wait staff and delicious rolls! We took my 97-YO FIL - he was in heaven with his Beef Stew and chocolate pie!
Great comfort food and quick service.
I'm from Pennsylvania, when I visit my daughter in Texas. I always like to visit Mama's Daughters' Diner. Now I believe that I have only gone for breakfast. But I enjoy the friendly visit. With the small town atmosphere. I go for the fluffy omelets.
Food is so good here yah need to try it!
Great homestyle cooking restaurant in the heart of Forney Texas. We went there for breakfast on a Saturday morning. We only had to wait a few minutes for a table. The food was delicious and our waitress was EXCELLENT! If your looking for a FANTASTIC place for great homestead eating this is your place. The prices are very reasonable too!
The breakfast is top notch and the service is great. They have their four main breakfast options with preset food items, or you can do it more a la carte. This ranges from dinner plate sized pancakes, to simpler, more conscientious breakfast options. It's really up to you. They have great lunch items available, as well, but I've only had their breakfast, which is served at all times.
You know that feeling when you know you just over-ate but you couldn’t help yourself because it was so freaking good? Well that was me at this lovely little small town diner. I knew when I walked in and saw how busy it was that I made the right choice but then when my over medium eggs were cooked to perfection, the bacon was perfect and the biscuits were homemade and the sausage gravy was amazing…oh and the grits were so good, I knew I found my local diner and I will be back. And also, Christy was my server and she was amazing as well. You owe it to yourself to go to Mama’s Daughter Diner. You won’t be disappointed.
The service was great and the ambiance is nice. Got a grilled pork chops and it was good, not dry, moist and evenly seasoned. I like my bacon crunchy, but this one is perfectly crispy, not dry or burnt out, and taste superb. Definitely coming back.
I love dining at this restaurant, with fast service and the greatest down-home cooking with great desserts, hot rolls, fresh, crisp salads and fast check out.
Great atmosphere. I had their meat lovers omelette and it was great!!
Food and service is exception. Love their cozyness.
This was the first time we are there because we were in Forney visiting someone but it was delicious very good experience will go back if we’re in Forney again
Great staff Food was decent
The cafe was warm and inviting. And packed. It seems that a lot of people had the same idea as me about getting a good lunch. Southern style dishes and reasonable prices were the specialties.
Fast, friendly staff. Served the best grilled cheese sandwich I've ever tasted.
Food was great. Orange juice is horrible concentrate. Service was a bit slow. Had to ask 3 purple for syrup.
My husband and I finally had a morning all to ourselves. So we decided to go on a breakfast date. The atmosphere was so relaxed. Our lovely waitress kept our drinks full and was very attentive. We ordered the Texas Size Breakfast with Chicken Fried Steak. Everything was so tasty and the biscuits were melt in your mouth yummy!! We will definitely go back again.
Awesome place to eat. Never disappoint great food.
Momma. Tuesday is spaghetti night. Awesome.. Don't miss out on this place. Good home cooking ,prices , seating. All the momma said signs momma said sit up straight. Down too earth. I love it. I love the fresh never wilted salad, home made ranch dressing and the best pies ! I like the chocolate one. Awesome.
This place is absolutely the best diner we have been to in North Texas. From the minute we walked in we were greeted with Southern hospitality. You can see the restaurant shine. It is the cleanest place we have been to in years. Don't get me started on the food, it is so yummy and generous helpings. They have earned our business from this day. Go local and support this establishment , you won't be disappointed
Very down home small town feeling diner. Food was delicious and steak was excellent.
Great homecooked food. You cant go wrong with breakfast all day long. Great service and great people.
I ordered the chicken & dressing from Mama’s Daughters’ Diner on a day when I seriously needed some comfort food, and let me tell you—it delivered in every way. The chicken was juicy and seasoned just right, and that dressing? Soft, savory, and full of flavor, like something my grandma would’ve made for a holiday meal. Even the gravy stayed warm and delicious. It felt like a hug in a to-go box. Definitely hit the spot and then some!
We got "breakfast" and it was quite busy when we got there but we didnt wait long for a seat. The food was good and didnt take long to get.
Wendy always goes over n beyond to make sure your order is right, hot and customer satisfaction.
Yummy every time. Keep exploring their menu and trying new things. The vibe is homey and welcoming with excellent food. Our go to place for breakfast but yummy for all meals!
Wonderful people, good eats at the Forney location. We drive from Balch Springs 2x week to eat.
Great food and prices. I do have to say, there's some mixed messaging; there's a sign on the wall that said "No dessert until you clear your plate," and then another sign that says "life is short, start with dessert." So which is it? But seriously, they're really good.
The Diner reminds us of the nice small town Forney was, Bonnie and her team are incredible. The omelettes never fail, the biscuits tastes like Granny’s, and the double cheese burger always hits the spot!
Hidden behind the dust of the train and an unassuming small-town store front, Mama's Daughters Diner delivers the best Southern "Sunday Dinner" food I've tasted. The salmon patties would get my grandmother's approval. The turnips were divine. The corn and rolls were great. Ps: devoured the cherry fried pie at 1am - perfect bedtime snack. But OMG the fried okra... It was perfectly burnt. My Grandma must have been watching from Heaven. She might have been guiding them or consulting from across the veil. I swear I could taste the cast iron skillet and pan drippings. Even my own Mama agreed the food was that damn good.
This place is outstanding! Service is excellent. Restaurant is spotless. Food is really good and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend a visit for some fantastic home cooking.
What a wonderful diner!! In the middle of historic downtown Forney, Texas, it was one of the warmest and comforting diners I've been to! That, and our waiter Luis was the nicest server I've ever come in contact with! The atmosphere made me feel as though I was transported into a different time, a time of universal family values and kindness. We will definitely be back!!
They greeted us and sat us immediately. We had plentiful time to order. Drinks were fast. Once we ordered, food was surprisingly fast for how full the restaurant was and what we ordered. The portions were great and the prices are not bad at all. They have many options, and you can definitely find something that you'll enjoy. Though personally I wish they had more seafood, I recognize they are not necessarily seafood oriented. Though plainly stated southern kitchen style food. Very good and very polite.
OUTSTANDING! Excellent coffee and the fried pork chops are to die for! The biscuits were nice and soft and the gravy offered along the biscuits is excellent for dipping for the pork chops. If you go early, there will be no wait. If you wait too late in the day, you'll be stuck in line for the lunch rush. 🎤😋🤘
Mmm-mmm good, comfort food at it's finest! The servers anticipated our needs, were friendly and got all 4 of our orders spot on.
All the Mama's locations are very good. The lunch options are always delicious and the all day breakfast is awesome. If you want to make your mouth happy have the biscuits and gravy!
I usually order the breakfast tacos, crispy bacon and a side of home fries with onion and cheese. Let me tell you it is so delicious to this pregnant mama! I highly recommend if you are in the mood for a diner breakfast. The staff is always friendly and attentive too. Only wish they would make the tacos a meal to make it more price appropriate.
Look, Mama ain't got no reason to be making biscuits this dang good!!! Literally the best I've ever had and my own Grandmother would disown me for saying that! The food is phenomenal but seriously...those biscuits and gravy!!! I'd happily take out a second mortgage on my home just to purchase an order of these fluffy, buttery, heavenly made biscuits! If you don't want to take my word for it then try for yourself and I'll be waiting for an apology for you even doubting! Almost 40 years on this earth and never thought I'd be addicted to a breakfast item 😅
Been a while since I stopped in so thought I would check in. Ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with 3 vegetables ( I chose Mashed Potatoes, Fried Okra, and Baked Squash) special, ice tea, and came with choice of roll or cornbread. (I had both) Thought I would try brown gravy for a change as I like it on my Potatos normally or on a smothered Steak. CFS was cooked perfectly and seemed to be homade but was not as hot as I hoped but was at a perfect temp to scarf it down lol. Brown gravy was way too salty and also needed some black pepper. Mash potatoes were perfect and just lumpy enough to give a real potato taste. Okra was not as hot as am used too but it was at a temp to enjoy the entire bowl pretty quick. Baked squash was the only miss. It was kinda bready and sweet. I was hoping for bigger pieces of squash and more squash flavor. Roll was perfect! Buttery, Soft, warm, fluffy and delicious. Cornbread was just right sweetness but need more cornmeal and less flour as it was too bready for me. Overall great experience and server was great, fast and friendly. Will be back soon. I added pictures of the menu as the ones I could find were old.
What an absolute gym of a restaurant this was. We were driving from Grapevine, Texas back towards Georgia and we're going to stop at a different place that turned out to be closed. How lucky were we? We tried so many different things on the menu and every single one of them were fantastic. Two items that I thought were exceptionally good were the onion rings and coconut meringue pie. If you live locally and you've never tried this place, you are missing out. If you are anywhere near this on the highway or passing through town, I'd highly recommend coming and trying this restaurant. On a side note: I was glad to see that they had Heinz ketchup. You will not be disappointed with this restaurant. Highly recommend!
Great little family style restaurant. I stopped for biscuits and gravy, The serving was two biscuits it was more than I could eat. The gravy was really good not too spicy not bland, and biscuits fresh and not dried out. Service was friendly and took care of everything with a smile on his face.
So I,ve heard many good things about this southern comfort dinner and I finally got to try the food for myself. The atmosphere was great, the waiters excellent and knowledgeable, the food was full of flavor and reminded me of momma's cooking. I am glad a restaurant like this is still serving costumer's I will be back for more.

Food was more than I expected to get on a plate, very full of flavor and filling before I was even halfway through the meal. The waitress was for sure about what she was doing and was amazing.
This is my second visit to Mamas Daughters Diner. My first visit was mediocre, but I would like to say this visit was great! Our server was very attentive and friendly, our order was brought out quickly and accurately. The food was prepared well. We had one sanafoo but one I do not care to mention because it was corrected promptly. Pro tip: they have one small booth right when you walk in to the left of he small partition to the right side. It was the perfect spot!
Top notch Tex-Mex restaurant. Food is great, service is friendly and fast. My favorite Tex-Me in the north Dallas area.
I’m so glad I found a new diner to support. I had been going to Norma’s but their food quality and service has gone down. I loved the chicken and dressing from MD’s Diner. The people working here are friendly and have pride in what they do! I’ll be back for sure.👍🏼
A nice down home diner really great lunch specials check those out if you’re in the area that’s some of the best deals. They have good place for diner home-cooked food great for breakfast or for lunch highly recommend.
Came in for "linner" at around 2:30pm. We ordered meatloaf, fried chicken, greens, mashed potatoes, fried okra, and a couple desserts. The food was well seasoned and delicious. Thulis place may not look like much but the food came out lickity-split! The wait staff was genuinely warm and polite. Great down-home southern cooking!
Our family was drawn to this charming restaurant because of its distinct character and the fact that it is a family-owned business. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the warm and hospitable staff. The cozy ambiance of the place made us feel right at home. We were delighted to find that the food was not only well-seasoned but also cooked to perfection. We savored every bite of our meal, which was a true culinary delight. Towards the back of the restaurant, we discovered ample seating arrangements that were perfect for large family gatherings. All in all, it was a memorable dining experience that we would love to relive again.
Very homestyle cafe. Food was just like grandma used to make. Service was a little slow, but not terrible. Prices were decent, too. The place was crowded, but not packed...obviously 'the place' for the locals. Would definitely go back, if I'm ever in the area again.
I ordered the Denver omelet, cup of grits and wheat toast. The omelet had a nice cheese 🧀 pull. Under special instructions I was able to request no butter be added to my grits. I am truly thankful that my request was honored . There was no seasoning added to my grits which was fine to me. I added a pinch of salt 🧂 as that's all I place in my grits. I have leftovers for another day of eating breakfast if nothing happens
I had higher expectations based off the ratings. I felt that our experience was average. The atmosphere was fine, and the customer service was ok. We took our 6 grandchildren in for breakfast before church. We had basic breakfast, the total cost was $67, I gave a 22% tip because we always try and give a decent tip even when not totally satisfied with a portion of the experience knowing that some things just happen. As far as the food, the bacon was extremely salty, my grits were lacking flavor but after butter, salt and pepper, it was ok...tap water, couldn't drink it, and the rest of the gang stated the syrup was thin, salty bacon and cold eggs, cheese didn't even melt?...well, I would have actually given a 3.5 and after talking to them....it would have been just that. Overall, decent....
Good breakfast and quick service. Good place to stop in if you're in the area and wanting some eggs.

I was hoping to have some home cooking comfort food but sadly it seemed as if the chicken and dumpling came straight out of the can :(. The greens were not edible very off taste, clearly from a can…
Was in Forney for some business and Mama's Daughters' Diner was close by and decided to take a shot. Ordered the fried chicken Steak dinner. Served with it was buttered corn, Cole slaw and cheesy…
The food is OK. I think they should update the menu with some new items and get rid of some of the old food. Also could stand a face-lift. Looks outdated inside. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.
The Denver omelette was delicious and the waitress was attentive. Despite the good food and prompt, accommodating staff I’m deducting 2stars for the quality of coffee. The waitress even made a fresh pot when I told her it tasted like recycled coffee grounds. Sadly the fresh pot was not good either. I’m sorry but $2.35 for a cup of coffee should be enough to get a decent cup of coffee. Breakfast would have- could have been so much better.
Was very disappointed with our visit. The rolls were cold, the chicken n dumplings had zero flavor. Lastly, the service was bad. Our waitress mostly ignored us. Spent a lot of time talking at the counter. Will not return. Alfredos Steakhouse is a million times better.
Wonderful hometown diner - good food, good service. My wife and I went for lunch on a Friday. My wife and I started with tossed salads (@5.5) and iced tea (@3) - both well prepared and tasty. My wife enjoyed her meatloaf plate with mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and cole slaw (12.75), but said her cole slaw wasn't right. My fried okra, turnip greens, baked squash, and cole slaw (11) were good - the cole slaw wasn't wrong, just different. Our meals came with rolls that were made from a production bread recipe. This place was okay, couldn't compare to Lindy's: the gold standard of home cooking restaurants.
So disappointed in the meal that I ordered. Christmas dinner ruined. The dressing has a horrible after taste and was basically raw. You can tell it was rushed so wasn't cooked. Mac n cheese tastes like it came from a box. I tried to season it and try to get it to taste better to no avail. Squash casserole had big chunks of onions that were crunchy/raw, not cooked and the cornbread was dry. Pecan pie, some parts were missing pecans. How do you mess up a pecan pie?? Yams had little or no sugar. I'm confused how the food could be this bad. I thought the food would be the same as the Plano location and it is NOT. It was not worth $155.00. In the future I will drive to Plano because their food is AMAZING!
Ordered through Door Dash and received my order. The chicken and dumplings were basically a soup. The cinnamon roll with pecans was not the best either. The cornbread was good and my son enjoyed his chicken tender meal.
Went in today because I live in the area and wanted to try something new the food was reasonably priced and pretty decent I had the fried pork chops and my partner had the chicken and dumplings witch were okay, it did take till we were about done for the waitress to check how we were doing and kinda a little rude when she came asking about the check when I was on a phone call but I don’t blame her for doing her job, it was when I ordered chicken and dumplings to go for my dad when he coughed up a little bone or really hard cartilage idk if it was supposed to be in there or what he just wasn’t expecting anything hard in the chicken and dumplings
Went at 10:30 am seated immediately cramped seating between tables, booths are spacious. We sat for 18 minutes with menus no drink order no food order no service of any kind saw groups of 2-3 servers chatting in 3 different areas. 2 employees bussing tables. Cannot comment on food we didn’t get to order food or drink. As we left server called out have a Blessed day. So there’s that.
waitress wasn't very giod food was ok but way overpriced. All I wanted was one hamburger patty no bun no fries and 6eggs it was $24. Won't be going back
Sitting in the lot behind Mama’s Daughter’s Diner wondering if the girl who just waited on us (Jessica T) has ever waited a table a day in her life BEFORE TODAY. After getting our drinks and taking our order (which she didn’t listen to because just about EVERYTHING I ASKED FOR I had to reiterate a few times and the order STILL came out wrong AND COLD! My eggs also tasted like dish water), we didn’t see her much/out took her a long time to come back. I understand that breakfast places are very busy on Saturdays, but this wasn’t just “I’m gone because it’s so busy,” it was sort of neglectful. The lady who ran the food (this was not Jessica. Jessica disappeared for a good while, actually.) apologized, but when she returned with the hot chicken fried steak, eggs, biscuits, and pancake, I could tell that everything had simply been microwaved with new gravy slapped on top. I have had several uniquely subpar experiences at this establishment. One time we came and the service and food were BOTH GOOD! After TODAY, I will not return, nor will I recommend this place to anyone.
I ordered a club sandwich. This has to be the worse sandwich I’ve ever had. I couldn’t stomach one bite of it. It looked nothing like the advertisement. The turkey and ham were not deli selected meat. Just awful… I will never go back.
Came here expecting great food and service, disappointed to say got neither. Food was bland, fried pickles were hard enough to chip a tooth or 2, bread rolls had no flavor even with the butter, no seasoning or flavor on anything! Our server was rude and very short with us, u could tell she just wanted us to get out, Mac and cheese was mushy and had corn in it looked like smushed peach cobbler? The salad that came with my food was 2 slices of tomatoes and 2 pickles on top of shredded lettuce, will definitely not be coming back to this place. The hype is not worth it 💯😒 not a welcoming place. I'm headed to sonic
