The atmosphere at The Katherine in Fort Lauderdale is so pleasant and welcoming. The food is absolutely full of flavor and beautifully prepared. From the host to the busboys, the service was exceptional. Ricky was an amazing waiter. He was attentive, friendly, and made our dining experience even more enjoyable. We will definitely be back!
We had such an amazing time for dinner. The servers were great and knowledgeable. The menu was unique, you won’t find the same dishes here than any other place. We had the French fries clam chowder, cabbage, oxtails, seafood/fish pasta, Thai red curry fish. Dessert: raspberry chocolate cheesecake and French toast with apple composte. We did order them as shareable plates. Everything was delicious. One of the best places I’ve ever eaten. My rum punch came in a unique peacock cup. I guess it gave it character. It was cold in there so bring a jacket!
Made a reservation for 9pm on a Friday night, it was easy to get day of. This place is a beautiful spot. I thought the oxtail was very good, as was the pasta shell dish with meat (sorry I forget what it’s called). Also the beet salad was a standout. Free parking in the back
The Katherine (Broward Blvd FTL) is the culmination of 3 times James Beard nominated Chef Tim Balloo & his wife Marissa Katherine. Intimate spot with a global menu emphasizing fresh ingredients & sauces. On this early Sunday dinner, Shun's hospitality was shining & her recommendations were spot on! We indulged in: *Hamachi crudo unlike we've had before, w/charred onion, black garlic dashi *Chili garlic tomato salad, was zesty *Thai Red Curry Branzino, signature item was delectable *Hanger Steak frites, ohhh that sauce au poivre & hand cut fries was chefs kiss. All dishes were beautifully presented, executed, savory & hit all the taste buds. This is a warm & welcoming environment for a creative culinary journey.
I can’t stop talking about this place to everyone. a true south Florida gem!!! So happy to have finally tried The Katherine and you should too, here’s why: 1) delicious food, from start to finish. Did not have one bad or mediocre thing. 2) creative takes on different flavor profiles - clam chowder fries was insane!!! The charred cabbage shocked us - who eats cabbage voluntarily? I do, here only. 3) the staff was so hospitable and friendly. Very refreshing esp in south Florida. 4) the decor and vibes are extremely cozy. We sat in the corner booth like table and didn’t want to leave. 5) 3 words: short rib orichette See you soon, Katherine
Romantic and charming restaurant in cute Victoria Park. Loved the atmosphere and service 🥂 All our dishes were delicious and filling. Absolutely loved the ox tail Perfect date night location 🥂
First time at The Katherine. 10/10 experience! The food is amazing and hospitality speaks for itself. Real restaurant! Real chef! Will definitely be back soon.
The Katherine. Creative Cuisine that will Tantalize 💥 Your Tastebuds 👅. What a wonderful restaurant to enjoy a great dining experience! The Katherine, located at 723 E. Broward blvd in Ft. Lauderdale is an amazing place that will expand your mind 🧠 with freshly designed recipes that will make your mouth 👄smile ☺️. The decor offers a casual, retro rustic vibe with hints of greenery 🌱 that is the backdrop for the neon purple lit sign that bares the name “The Katherine” at the entrance. It has both indoor & outdoor seating 🪑 , great music 🎼, and a staff which is attentive & polite. The food 🍲 is fantastic! Every dish & recipe is creatively crafted to bring a lively blend of flavors that are extraordinary. Our starters: The crispy tuna 🍣 rice 🍚. Lightly chopped fresh tuna lay neatly on a cube of crispy rice and topped with spicy 🌶️ mayo, sweet soy, and a touch of fresh chive 🌿. The smooth texture of the tuna with the crunch of the crispy rice was a delight. The next was the clam 🦪 chowder 🍲 French fries 🍟. What a combo! It’s a must. Fresh steamed clams in the shell 🐚 with a creamy thick chowder was topped with Crispy fries 🍟. A masterpiece! The Thai style charred cabbage 🥬 salad 🥗 with crispy fried pork 🐖 was so interesting. Tossed in a tangy sweet & sour dressing with fresh herbs 🪴, this salad 🥗 offered a refreshing brightness to our meal. Our Main Entrees. The short ribs orecchiette pasta was soothing comfort food. 🥘. The creamed sauce gave a velvety coating 🧥 to the dish while the balsamic glaze added a sharp contrast. It was a mouth watering experience. The all day burger 🍔 was special as well. A double patty burger 🍔 seasoned well with melted cheese 🧀 and a sweet pickle 🥒 remoulade was delicious again offering a blend of flavors. My favorite dish was the Thai red curry 🍛 Branzino 🐟. It was the best branzino 🐟 I have ever had. Typically, Branzino 🐟 is a mild fish that is simply grilled. Well not this fish! 🐠. Sautéed in a red curry sauce with a side of coconut 🥥 rice 🍚 and garnished with a shredded papaya slaw, this dish danced 🕺 on my tongue 👅. A symphony 🎶 of flavors that I couldn’t get enough of. Our Vegetables 🥗. We ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts 🌱 which were charred in an orange 🍊 soy glaze which was as expected. The marinated jerk beets was served with a curry aioli, arugula 🥬, radish, and walnuts 🌰. It was a welcomed earthy addition to our meal. Dessert: Yes, we had to share one. lol 😂. The caramel coated French toast 🍞 cake was topped with vanilla bean 🫘 ice cream & seasonal fruit 🍑 compote. The Carmel was sticky at the bottom so you could scrape it off the plate 🍽️ like candy 🍬. If you couldn’t tell yet, we loved it and highly recommend going soon. You will definitely 👍 enjoy The Katherine if you appreciate fine food. Lastly, they did get their liquor 🥃 license now. I had the snazzy jazzy which is their take on an old fashioned. It was smooth. Put this on your list as a “Must Go!” Item. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
Amazing food!!! Every dish was an explosion of flavor. Very different than other restaurants. They blend multiple cuisines and flavors…. And it works beautifully! Top dishes we had were the whipped ricotta, zatar rubbed swordfish, and short rib orecchiette. The space is small and very romantic. Highly recommend to anyone looking for something different and very flavorful!
We've been here twice and both times the food exceeded our expectations. Nothing served here is average or just okay. Every dish blew our minds. The clam chowder fries, Thai red curry branzino, and aji Amarillo grilled chicken thigh were absolutely spectacular. Other honorable mentions are the tuna crispy rice, and the Thai style crispy pork cabbage salad. We tried dessert both times we went and would definitely recommend both the Belgian chocolate pudding and the vanilla bean French toast. The menu is a little expensive, but the quality and uniqueness of the food, as well as the atmosphere definitely justify it. If you're on the fence, don't hesitate to give it a try, it's well worth the trip. Lastly, it's a very small place, so reservations are HIGHLY recommended. We didn't make one the first time and ended up sitting at the bar, but it was still a nice experience.
It was our first find dining at the Katherine. Besides our daughter’s name being Katherine, this restaurant was just special and extraordinary. The overall vibe was warm and inviting, the staff was super friendly and shared the menu concept. The food was exceptional.. with a balance of salt, acid, fat, and cross cultural inspiration! The signature dishes such as the crispy rice and everyone must get the cabbage. Every bite was a party in your mouth. We’re visiting from NJ and will definitely come again
We had an excellent meal with friends and will definitely go back. The sauces are fantastic. We ordered a few dishes and everything that came to the table was very good. The staff was attentive and the owner was checking on everyone making sure they were happy. We had fun watching everyone go to the front of the building to read the sign that the entrance is in the rear. Make sure you order some bread to clean the serving dishes 😜 Wish they had a full service bar not just beer and wine.
This is an solid spot that’s perfect for everything from date night to special occasions. The menu is elevated, decor is welcoming, service is great, but the place isn’t stuffy at all. Felt very comfortable! They have a really inventive menu with excellent flavors. Loved the carrots, whipped ricotta, and truffle mushroom rice most of all. I appreciate the off-menu specials they have for even more dishes to enjoy. Everything we had tasted very fresh and well seasoned. Server was excellent and the pacing of the meal was spot on. This is a Fort Lauderdale restaurant that’s not to be missed. It has a creative menu without being stuffy. Doesn’t feel gimmicky in the elegance of their menu. The focus is the food, and the food is delicious.
We really enjoyed the fact that the chef created the menu based on his travel experiences. This allowed for quite the variety. The staff was very welcoming and offered us great recommendations. Each pick was delicious for its own reason. I would order the clam chowder fries over and over again if I could.
Absolutely one of my favorite spots in Fort Lauderdale. Small curated menu the servers always have great recommendations. The Kale Caesar salad is amazing. I usually don’t order swordfish out because people don’t know how to cook it correctly. This is one of the best swordfish dinners I’ve ever had. It is a smaller location. Seating is tough to get make reservations in advance, but that’s the nice thing about it. The menu does change seasonally, which is also amazing and their specials are usually top notch. I really highly recommend this restaurant for a foodie
The food is perfectly curated amazing-ness. The flavours are outstanding, plates were gorgeous and service is great! Amazing options for vegetarians and meat eaters. I simply don’t have one bad thing to say.

The short rib was outstanding, one of the best i have ever eaten. The Thai cabbage had excellent flavor, but the pork was stewed, not crispy at all. I would have liked more broth on the chowder, but again, it was very tasty. I would not recommend the pudding it was nothing special.
One word to describe this establishment: Innovative. From the darkened lighting, to the soundproof windows, and the forest green napkins and brass touched fixtures my sister and I came to The Kathrine last night, and did not disappoint. Private free parking, outdoor seating underneath a protective awning. No host stand ( I love their choices of efficiency) and the most knowledgeable friendly staff you would want to spend the evening with. The menu was short and sweet, but chuck full of flavors no one has thought to bring together. Warm cabbage salad with chunks of pork, or the Hokkaido Crudo scallops with the most delicious sauce that makes you want to compliment the kitchen. Then came the Branzino and we also ordered the Clam chowder soup fries (my sister's favorite dish). Spicy margarita and the Chai Espresso martini were on point. Desert was the French Toast served with vanilla ice cream. The highest compliments to The Kathrine for the choice of soundtrack and service. The food was so good, we took dishes to our parents, in which my mother cried out "10s across the board". We ordered steak au poivre with fries, and she swallowed it. We got our father the Branzino, which he will have this evening. Run, don't walk to the Kathrine. My sister and I rate this place, two fancy plates. Congrats Chef Timon, for a place well done. Update: 11/18/25 Set a reservation for three and a revised plan for set review. Consistency is key and beware of times before closing as they staff seemed overwhelmed and tired at 9:00 pm.
On my previous trip to the Katherine the food was excellent. This time…not impressive at all. The Katherine burger was a huge disappointment. Nothing special about it. Not savory and the burger bread tasted like it was at least a day or two old. The fries were excellent. Then I had the “fries over clam chowder”. Not sure what they are trying to achieve with this dish. Again, the fries were great. But, the chowder was just average. I would not order either dish again. The atmosphere, service and music were outstanding. It’s a cozy place with good vibes. If you go, they have much better dishes than what I tried - like the hamachi Crudo and the short rib. It’s worth going though.
Not worth the hype. I was really excited to try this spot because I seen good reviews but unfortunately many of the dishes were over seasoned (salty) or dishes weren’t cooked like rice & risotto. I feel like the clam chowder fries was a cool concept but hard to eat and not flavorful, there was a drop of sauce on the burger (we had to ask for the sauce you see in the photo), duck risotto was over reduced and not cooked I sent it back but the waitress didn’t seem to care she just took it off the bill. We couldn’t eat the short rib pasta because it was so salty but I felt embarrassed to send that back as well because the waitress seemed annoyed. Needless to say we won’t back. I tried to post this review on let’s eat south Florida but to my surprise it wasn’t approved. I’m thinking some kind of paid sponsorship there because the guy in charge of the group always talks about how great this place is which is why we tried it.
