If you find yourself wanting Chinese in NKY, check out Oriental Wok Restaurant in Ft. Mitchell. They also have a location in Hyde Park, (Cincinnati), Ohio. This is a family owned, upscale restaurant, with a private dining room. We had a large party in the private dining room for a Valentine's Day dinner, and we all had a great time. Drinks, food, service and ambience were all great! 🥟🥡🎊
I got the 5-Spice Tofu and it was delicious. The vegetables were well-seasoned and cooked and the tofu was the perfect texture. The ambiance of the restaurant is lovely. Service was slow, but the servers were nice.
Always a pleasure visiting OWok! Went for a birthday dinner, did not disappoint. Our server is excellent, we never wanted or needed anything, everyone was very attentive and we had more than one person working the table. Food was amazing, as always, also. Asian Pear Martini is still my fave drink in the menu. Highly recommend!
So, finally we visited one of the most beautiful Chinese Restaurants in town. It was a rainy & wintry day we were just returning from an appointment nearby & thought about having something hot and curry food. Oriental Wok was one fancy place which we saw & decided with fingers crossed to try them. When you enter you see a big limousine on the right side which your eyes can’t miss and then you think how big is this place, probably limousine size. We were not surprised with the grand place, it was so beautiful and organically arranged. One big area you see with lot of chinese artefacts beautifully arranged. You just get awestruck. Table for 2 means it gave us some opportunity to walk until the end and we did not complain. We ordered Chinese Vegetables Soup, Spring Roll, Pot Stickers & Singapore Noodles. It was so delicious and with the grand view we enjoyed the food. The staff were so friendly and understanding that you can’t ask for more. Even though it looked little short staffed as we went on an odd timing but they were all helping each other to manage the guests. The details which they have put in the place will truly leave you with a grand experience & memories. Even the restrooms were leaving some details. Sharing all the pictures we could take.
Fun place. There were many a family celebrating birthdays. They light a sparkler, bubbles, hat , gong, and a serenade. I got Mo Goo Gai Pan and hubby got Schezwan Chicken. We each got an eggroll. It was all good. Very good service.
Wonderful experience and amazing food. Everything is homemade and very tasty. We had a large group and got seated immediately. We sampled many appetizers and entrees, and everyone was very happy with their meal. Can't wait to come back soon!
Absolutely amazing! As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by an extremely friendly host! The entire restaurant is decorated beautifully. With a lot of Chinese flair and plenty of romance. Our server, Jennifer, was such a sweetheart she was kind and thoughtful and very attentive! The food itself was phenomenal they had some authentic Chinese dishes, and we got the Peking duck and the mapo tofu. The portions for the price is perfect. They also had traditional American Chinese dishes that everyone knows and loves! The drinks were delicious. I can't recommend the lychee martini enough.
We had been lamenting the lack of good Chinese restaurants when I stumbled upon Oriental Wok on a Google search. It did not disappoint. The atmosphere is so fun and interesting. There were fish to look at everywhere which my daughter loved and they even gave her a little ring. But most importantly the food was absolutely perfect. Everything we are brought back memories from where we used to live previously. So happy to have finally found somewhere good! Would highly recommend! We will definitely be back.
I have been coming here since I can’t remember when. All the food is delicious and its great for big events. Staff is always super kind and I look forward to coming for all out family gatherings in the future as well. Love the Kobe Bryant picture in the bathroom too lol.
Family restaurant with character, warmth and so much beauty to walk around and discover. Beauty with the Koi fish and all the elaborate decor is just fun to explore. My favorite (other than the food) is the display of pictures throughout the years…. So much joy, love and happiness has occurred in this restaurant. Family restaurants that do it right are a favorite place to be, for me. — I rarely take a picture of a bathroom (never if a person is there) but this bathroom is clean, beautiful, fully stocked, and again, more memories in picture form to further feel the warmth of this restaurant. Throughout the years we have been here a handful of times and I always felt the same about this pleasant restaurant and liked the food but I had never explored the menu like I did this experience on a Monday at 11 am and I am glad I did as I am now a LOVER of the food and not just the environment. The waitress was super friendly and has been working at this restaurant for 27 years— WHAT???? Wow- loyalty is certainly another indicator of a great restaurant. In any event she was helpful in ordering as I really just wanted a couple appetizers that I had not tried before….I have always wondered what shrimp toast was but never ordered. After reading the amazing reviews about their shrimp toast I was motivated to order but my husband doesn’t eat seafood and it’s a pretty big appetizer and I was getting more food.. the waitress was emphatic about how good they are and I ordered them, as well as, chicken potstickers to split, wonton soup, and chicken fried rice for our kiddo for after school but I wanted to try at the restaurant.. chicken fried rice was good… standard but good standard and I enjoyed it as did our kiddo. The chicken potstickers are not my favorite (in the soup they were better) and I wouldn’t order again but my husband loved them. I am used to the pfchangs and these were very different- felt healthier but just dry…. Again, he thought they were great. The wonton soup was AWESOME and the fact they make it with chicken is so cool as well as we don’t eat a lot of pork so we never do the wontons in most places… Above all though and my favorite new treat -food is their shrimp toast, that I almost talked myself out of ordering…. Holy moly!!!! it was amazing and it was hard to put it down no matter how full I was as it’s toasted perfectly and the flavors are just all really good and while it’s a fried dish it just didn’t feel too oily at all and was just well… perfect, perfect crunch, flavor, texture, dip, all of it…. This toast is why this restaurant will get to know our smiling faces at least a couple times a month…….. When I took all the leftovers home I was excited to share the shrimp toast with our 11 year old as she also loves shrimp. I air fried it to heat it up and it maintained a good amount of the crunch and she LOVED it too… we already have a mom/daughter date to go back. Definitely get the shrimp toast….this was a celebration for my husbands birthday so we went a bit crazy with ordering a variety and this was the perfect restaurant to do this as I fell in love with a restaurant I have always admired and enjoyed going to but just hadn’t found MY dishes :) We (I) will forever order the shrimp toast and wonton soup……. i will keep trying all the main dishes to find my fav and will Update…. Husband got a chicken noodle dish that I can’t remember the name of… he enjoyed it very much and I also thought it was very good (pictured)….like me, he LOVED the wonton soup and he also enjoyed the potstickers… Last note, they serve Pepsi products and while I prefer Diet Coke I never expect a restaurant to have both. Husband asked if they had any while I was at the car and the waitress got me a can of diet Coke with a glass of ice… LOVEd that as any meal is better with your drink of choice. I figured- family restaurant cause someone in their family doesn’t like Pepsi- or just an incredibly considerate restaurant…. Thank you for a wonderful experience. We will see you soon….
Gorgeous atmosphere. Our server was attentive and friendly. Food came out fairly quickly despite our party being on the larger side. I got the orange chicken and it was the perfect amount of spicy; not too hot. I would definitely love to come here again and try more of the menu!
Mr. Wong & his Family sure know to provide an excellent, fun, and delectable dining experience here at Oriental Wok. They've been doing it since 1977. The restaurant is so classy and I love the old-school Chinese decor. Flavors are amazing, the service is efficient and attentive, and they love to put on a show for birthdays. The shrimp cheese rolls are my favorite! It's always a fun meal and killer food every time whether dining in or carrying out. Keep up the great work guys. Cheers to another 48 years of success!!
We arrived at 6:00 on a Saturday night and were seated right away. Our server, Shanel F, was very polite and professional. The food is high quality, and the atmosphere is cleanly and well-decorated. We ordered the orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken, noodles, and steak. Overall, very nice and priced well.
The last time I came was back in 2019 and I really liked the dish I had that night. I wasn't sure what it was called and I showed a picture on my phone to the server (Mario) and he was able to tell me exactly what it was so I was able to order it again 😁. My Gram comes every year for her birthday. The staff were so friendly.
Was in Kentucky shopping the 127 yard sales and decided to try somewhere new to us. I had my phone pull up the top rated Asian cuisine in Northern Kentucky and this restaurant was presented. Stepping through the door, we soaked in the calming but opulent atmosphere. We received impeccable service, at no time did our beverages get below half full, and a glass of extra ice was provided to keep my ice tea cold. Our server presented as if we were their most important clients. Once our orders were placed, we took a moment to view our surroundings from our cozy semi-circle both. all the while there was live piano music and the faint sound of babbling water from any of the three koi ponds. I observed every table being attended to diligently. The crab rangoon was one of the best I've had, compared to Asian establishments in the mid-western part of Ohio. Not only were they served hot, they were seasoned on the sweeter side and you could see small chunks of crab when broken apart. I ordered the fried eggplant with chicken and green beans in a sesame sauce. You can order this dish with your choice of protein or as vegetarian. A very generous portion was provided with your choice of rice. I selected steamed. I am a fan of the eggplant and like to try it when it is available at a new restaurant I am visiting. I would definitely order this dish again. My husband always gets the Moo Goo Gai Pan. He was impressed that the dish was not soaking in a plate fully sauce, but has substantial amount of chicken, mushrooms, carrots and cabbage. Said it was the best version of Moo Goo Gai Pan he has had so far. After our meals had been boxed up, and we were waiting on our check. Our server arrived with a complimentary dessert in honor of or first visit. In addition the the Owner stopped at our table to thank us for coming. That extra touch makes you feel special and welcomed. We will revisit again, bringing our daughter the next time.
Hands down my favorite Chinese restaurants in town. Or anywhere for that matter!! Mr. Wong has done an incredible job in decorating this place. Visually one of the most eye pleasing places I've ever been. He is always there to greet customers. Is extremely personal. The food is always great!!
Still my favorite Chinese restaurant in all the world. Our waitress Maddy was wonderful! But if it's your first time, be sure to ask for Mike to come to your table for his recommendation. Or, if you're willing to take a gamble, let him order for you. It'll be worth it just for the new experience. I haven't even been served yet and I'm looking forward to my next visit.
Great Chinese food, best around! Friendliest service. Fast service. Clean restaurant and bathroom. Big menu with lots of variety. Beautifully decorated.
Shared a birthday celebration with a friend, and spouses. We all loved the food & service. I had Chengdu Stir-fry with Grouper and it was probably the best Chinese meal I've ever had. Wonderful restaurant! The birthday ritual here will get the attention of the entire restaurant!
The absolute best service was offered and received here. Every server that walked by stopped and asked me how my experience was unraveling. I am pleased and overwhelmed by the passion that I saw, the service I experienced and the love I witnessed while enjoying my food. I ordered the Shrimp Fried Rice and had to get a side of Lobster Sauce since it was dry. The owner had the server bring me a side of Lobster Sauce "on the house", which was a pleasant surprise. To see the owners working as hard as the servers says everything you need to know about this establishment. One of the owners even visited me and shook my hand at my table and inquired about my experience as well. I felt extremely comfortable here and will return soon.
A person walking up to the front door gets their first look at the atmosphere of the interesting dinning experience. The service was superb. Beverages remained full and our waitress was friendly and helpful. The portions we ample. The food was wonderful and filling. A sweet desert finished this tasty meal. I will be visiting the Oriental Wok to try more of their menu.
The food is delicious, the ambiance is magical, the professional wait staff are knowledgeable and friendly, the live music tasteful, and the family ownership take pride in their business and seem to genuinely appreciate their patrons. It is a pleasure to visit the Oriental Wok and experience a wonderful evening of delicious food in a welcoming and enjoyable environment! I live in Louisville, KY and have visited several times over the last few years with extended family and as recently as last week with date. Each visit is special!
I absolutely recommend this place. The staff were very friendly and very attentive. We also got to meet both the owners who were absolutely lovely. The restaurant is gorgeous inside and out and the food was delicious and well seasoned. We had the Broccoli Beef, Singapore Noodles, Combination Fried Rice, Crab Rangoon’s and bread pudding. Everything was really good and we will absolutely be returning.
Amazing experience, confort food and excellent customer service. We've opportunity to meet the owner, Dr. Wong, the "Old Man "...😀
One of the best Chimese restaurants in the country! Beautiful atmosphere, food is excellent, and a very gracious staff. A+
Great experience. Great food. Absolutely lovely. This would be a great spot for a fancier date night, before prom, etc. The mango colada is SO GOOD. Locally owned and operated, and the owner came by to check in on our experience.
Since Covid services and food has been horrible or good. This has been great! Everyone works hard to provide great service and food. I’m a huge fan and will definitely keep returning!
Excellent service ! Friendly greeting at the door. Our waiter Simeon did a fantastic job. He sang to our daughter for her birthday;; bubbles, gong, sparkler, and dessert. Food was delicious. Highly recommended!
My grandparents introduced this restaurant to me as a kid and I’ve loved it ever since. Best restaurant atmosphere around. Great food!
I absolutely love Oriental Wok. This is one of my favorite restaurants to get egg rolls from. The combination of the sweet-and-sour sauce along with their hot wasabi mustard is so amazing! There are so many amazing dishes. The rainbow steak is wonderful. I love their sesame chicken too.
Such a unique and memorable experience. The interior is absolutely beautiful with vibrant lanterns and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. It really sets the tone as soon as you walk in. The food was just as impressive. Everything we ordered was fresh, and flavorful. The staff was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. A great place for a nice dinner or a special night out. Highly recommend!
This is a cheerful and friendly place. Loved by the community for their contributions over the years. Inside the decor is bright and full, think trees of light, lots of plants and goldfish. It makes you smile. There was entertainment the evening we were there as well. The food is good. We had done takeout previously, but I would definitely dine in again
Would give this place 10 stars if possible. One of the best dining experiences you can have locally. The food is great, the owner is one of the nicest people, the atmosphere is perfect. Even on a busier night the staff is wonderful. If you haven't been here, seriously give it a try.
This was a fantastic dinner experience. The best traditional Chinese food in the city by a landslide. Both the founder and his daughter were a treat to talk to. The inside decor is fun, festive, and unique. The live piano player was also a great touch that I have not experienced for a long time. I will certainly be back.
We recently celebrated my Mother's 90 th Birthday here. Everything was impeccable, the service was outstanding and fun. We loved the food and atmosphere. Highly recommended.
I am biased since this is my favorite restaurant. But the service we received tonight was exceptional! We were in a party room and it was handled for the most part by one server. So professional, accommodating, friendly. She bent over backwards to make our holiday dinner unforgettable!
I requested a huge favor from the wait staff in order to surprise my parents while they dined on New Year's Eve. Zoey and Chanelle were super helpful and perfectly oversaw the credit card payment, matching it to the proper table & couple, and not allowing the difficulties involved to stop them. I so appreciate them & their willingness to help a far-away daughter gift her parents. Thank you, Zoey & Chanelle! Above & beyond service on NYE!
Been going here since I can remember and it’s the same great quality food and service everytime for 20 years have never had a bad meal or experience here. Hands down best Chinese food in Kentucky, no competition.
I’m new to the area and wanted to have some Chinese food with my parents before they left. While Oriental Wok isn’t the most authentic Chinese restaurant, its unique take on traditional Chinese dishes were tasty and occupy a unique medium between traditional and westernized Chinese food. I liked the ma po tofu and faan me beef. The decor is also really cool and the service was amazing.
What sets this Chinese restaurant apart from others is its ambiance which fuses Hollywood cinema with Asia. This is a local hot spot for celebrations, and they will drum, sing, and joke around. The menu is long and focuses on the appeal of Chinese-American cuisine. The food is pretty average in that regard. The service was very friendly, and the staff doesn’t miss an opportunity to nod and smile. Lastly, parking is a lot and is very easy.
This has to be one of the best Chinese food places in the greater Cincinnati area. Mr Wong has built an amazing place. I had a taste for Chinese food while in town and Oriental wok came up as highly rated place so I decided to stop in and from the beginning I was not disappointed great ambiance, good service and great food. We had a chance to meet Mr Wong as he likes to stop by and visit each table
We have dined here numerous times in the past. Food has been pretty good. This past visit I found the food quality has slipped. I had a dinner with chicken. Chicken did not taste right. Not fresh chicken or something. Had a strange taste. Fried rice was ok. Service very good.
Was a fancy place food was ok but not great but our waiter looked like a young Ryan Reynolds and was absolutely amazing.
I ordered the seafood clay pot. It came in a steel pot with the price sticker burnt on it , that should of told me not to try it lol it tasted very frozen in a cheaper way. Small portion of rice. The atmosphere and service was undeniably good. I wont be coming back but wasnt completely disappointed. This place is unique in it left me with mixed emotions.
Have gotten the Cantonese lobster for years, but the quality has gone down & the price up. Thought it was just a random bad order, but after another try last night I won't order again.
Food was NOT good. Beautiful setting. Very nice place to take a date. Maybe drinks and dessert. Great atmosphere. Service was great. All the servers stopped to grab plates, give napkins, refills, etc. Very friendly. Appetizer (potstickers) was $14 and I wouldn't eat it for free. Really bad. Usually it's a mix of meat and veggies but it was a dense pressed meat. Really gross. The bowl of cracker things set out to snack on beforehand were cold little bites of grease. The Hong Kong chicken was just OK. Rice was a small bowl and too fragrant like a perfume smell or something. Cashew chicken seemed fine. Just plain but chicken was tender.
I have not had Oriental Wok in a long time. I was very disappointed. I ordered lemon chicken and it was nowhere close to what I remember. Instead of chunks it was a whole fired chicken breast. The sauce had way too much garlic in it, the veggies were soggy and the portions were very small. The fried rice side was not enough to go with the entree. For $25 dollars, this was on one the worst values I have had in a long time. I am very disappointed and will not be back.
Christmas Eve, service was wonderful, food was not. Both meals were exactly $1.00 higher on the check than the menu, no big deal, but not acceptable either. Husband ordered the Happy Family and was pleased. I ordered the Sesame Chicken. Instead of receiving the vegetables that were listed with the dish (my main reason for ordering), I received a BAG OF FROZEN chunks of broccoli (mainly stems), carrots and cauliflower. Horrible... I used to love the freshness and flavor here but the quality was lacking.
First time there and will not go back. Chicken was over cooked on one side took one bite and that was enough. Server asked why we were inquiring about the check so soon after explaining why she just stared. Even IHOP would have tried to make it right at $25.00 a plate you would think they would have tried. Don’t waste you’re hard earned money, the server asked why and even lied about the owner being there.
The first time I ate at the Oriental Wok in Ft. Mitchell was in the late 80s - not long after they opened. I went back for my 2nd visit last night. About 38 years later! I could have waited another 38. First of all - the service was impeccable. Absolutely no complaints there. Everyone was friendly and our drink glasses were never left empty. But the food was another story. I ordered the Cashew Chicken which I have enjoyed at many other establishments. It was served with a teeny tiny bowl of rice on the side. The chicken appeared to be boiled (like I used to feed my geriatric dog). It was cut into little slivers that were so slimy and completely lacking flavor. There was no sauce on the dish that I could see or taste. I said the service was good but our server walked past our table and asked how everything was. He did not stop to actually hear an answer. My son got the General Wong chicken and I tasted that and it was quite bland as well. I am so disappointed at the amount of money we spent on our meal ($100 for 3 people) and most of it went to waste as it was not edible. I realize I should have said something to management last night but we were with friends who love the place and I did not want to embarrass them. (or myself) What little bit I did eat last night kept me up all night with a stomach ache. Never again.
