Was Kunden über Hickory by Kent Rathburn sagen
Hickory by Kent Rathburn at DFW airport receives mixed reviews. Many praise the fast, friendly service, especially from servers like Christine, Xavier, Ashlee, and Amanda. The brisket sandwich and burger are popular, but some find the brisket bland or poorly prepared. Breakfast is often disappointing.

Tip: If getting brisket, stick to the sandwich on Texas toast. Mac n cheese or fries are better side choices than potato salad. Be aware that breakfast may be disappointing.

Every member of the staff in here is amazing, Xavier served me. Waltzed in after missing my connection, big attitude. They are all so sweet you could not possibly buckle down on a bad mood. Had a much needed break from airport transit. Highly recommend.
Christine S was a great server!! I only had an hour to get food and I was able to get my food and finish it along with 3 cocktails on the day before Christmas Eve! Fairly pricey but I think it was worth it. Rating atmosphere only 4 stars because the music was a little loud, but I was also sat right under a speaker.
I had a 4 hour layover at DFW and found this eatery with good food and delightful staff. Additionally, it really wasn’t anymore expensive than eating at any other non-airport restaurant. I had the hickory burger that included the bacon Mac n cheese as the side. The burger was cooked perfectly and served hot. I deducted a star because the mac n cheese was barely warm. It would have been fantastic if it was hot. In addition to the good food, the staff were delightful. Rose at the check-in station was cheerful and welcoming and made sure I got a seat by the window. My server, Nyk (Nykolas) was amazing, attentive and always made sure my glass was full. Would definitely eat here again.
Mi never expect much for airport food/drink/atmosphere but was pleasantly surprised by all 3 here tonight. Attentive (but not overbearing) waitress her heard me asking the host about sitting in another room as music was louder than was hoping for after 10 hrs of travel - tom closed but when she came by my table she had turned the music down and gave me a quick nod. The Margrita excellent as was the food, which was served quickly; and was not rushed out as I had a bit of a layover. ***** experience all around!
The brisket sandwich is lame, just dry texas toast. The brisket quesadilla is better, but still, if it wasn't Airport food you'd be pretty put out at the prices compared to the quality and plating. This Ken Rathbun guy does really boring plates and flavors. Never heard of him before and I now know why. Service was great. Elbow room was limited.
The waitress said the chicken quesadillas were one of the best items on the menu. That is what I ordered. I ate 1/4 of the quesadilla. It was not good the meat had a weird taste to it. It was not due to the smoke on it, it almost tasted old. The French fries were good. I would not pick this place again when at the airport.
I ordered the brisket sandwich and the grilled cheese sandwich. I was expecting the brisket sandwich to come on a bun, but it actually came on well-buttered grilled toast—which turned out to be a great surprise. The toast was soft, the brisket was moist, and I appreciated having the sauce on the side so I could add just the right amount. The flavoring and sauce were spot on—not too salty. My sweet potato fries were extra crunchy, just the way I like them. The grilled cheese sandwich was exactly what you’d expect. No surprises there. If I have another 2-hour layover, I’d definitely come back.
The brisket was super mediocre, the toast was made with mayo and not toasted enough so it tasted fishy, and it cost $22. Upsides you can get in and out in 30 minutes if there’s not a lot of people already there.
There was nothing remarkable about this lunch, except for the cost. The food was tasteless and came to the table lukewarm. I asked the server to have it warmed up which she did, but when it came back to the table, it had obviously been microwaved. It only made it worse. Overall, a very poor experience. When you serve food in an airport, you rarely have opportunities for a second chance. Better make first impression a good one.
The atmosphere and servers were great. But WOW the food is awful! Especially in texas, you can’t serve WHITE bbq brisket. I thought it was pork shaped like brisket. The fat layer that covers a brisket was 100% unseasoned, it looked like boiled fat. So gross. Just down the hall is Cousins, which I haven’t tried, but must be better. Truly awful. Wish I had a pic, but it was too gross.
I sat down and ordered a glass of chardonnay, upon which I was told they had "basic" or "fancy". I asked what the difference was, meaning what were the brands. I was given a sassy answer of "well one is more expensive." Cool, thanks. I then ordered food but in double checking my airline app realized the gate and departure time had changed. I IMMEDIATELY said "hey please cancel that food order. I may have to run bc of my flight time changing." He said "no it'll be out soon" and walked away. I looked again, and convinced i was about to miss my flight, threw down money thay would cover my wine and a 80% tip, then made a run for it. When I realized I was actually okay, I came back and was told they wouldn't serve me anymore, including the full glass of wine I left there. They had "told me my food would be out soon" and this was apparently my punishment even though I could have left them nothing. Thanks for the sympathy.
We ordered two entrées off the menu. Both came out very quick, which was sure. Nice for our quick connection. However, was very small portions and everything was lukewarm too cold. Food was very blah as well. The only benefit was that it was fast so we could connect with our flight, but this restaurant would not make it outside of being at the airport
I’m positive if Chef came and ate here he would want to take his name off of it ASAP. Everything was cold. It wasn’t actually very busy so I was surprised. The tortillas weren’t toasted they were mushy. The whole meal was cold and very fatty brisket. Chef take your name off of this ASAP. Your quality is way better.
Sit-Down Prices, Nearly edible Half-Portions, and a Full serving of Culinary disappointment. We stopped at Hickory Grub #3003 in Terminal B at DFW, hoping for a sit-down breakfast after an early flight. What we got instead felt less like a meal and more like a culinary prank. The Food Scrambled egg shards scattered thinly across a beat up tin cafeteria tray, like fallout from a breakfast explosion The menu promised sausage. What arrived was half a sausage, a betrayal served with a smile Hash browns so gluey and salty they tasted like someone took a blowtorch to lumpy elementary school paste with rejected and shredded tater tots “Toast” that was just plain bread tossed on the grill, pretending it had ever seen a toaster The Drinks My wife had to explain hot tea like it was a new invention. The server’s first suggestion? Iced tea, warmed up I gave a TED Talk on decaf vs regular coffee. The server said she’d check, but instead brought a lukewarm, thimble-sized cup without saying if it was decaf or not. I’ll find out later based on how many trips I make to the restroom mid-flight Creamers made an appearance, sugar and sweeteners vanished into thin air The Experience $36.50 for two trays of regret and one sad cup of coffee made me contemplate my life choices Everything served on a beat up tin cafeteria tray with parchment, no spoon, turning the meal into a scavenger hunt for egg shards We left hungry enough to go straight to Starbucks for drinks that didn’t require a lecture Verdict Hickory Grub charges sit-down prices for a suboptimal fast-food experience. The only thing they deliver consistently is disappointment. Next time, I’ll happily take McDonald’s hash browns in a paper bag and find a quiet corner. Recommend only to sworn enemies, preferably those who enjoy betrayal reheated on a grill and finished with the same blowtorch.
I ordered the brisket at Hickory. I’m pretty sure it was boiled instead of smoked. It was the most disgusting brisket. I’ve ever ever been served. If my dog was chewing on this brisket, I would pull it out of its mouth. Absolutely disgusting. Notice, no smoking at all… I think they served me pot roast.
