Absolutely authentic Afghan food with top quality ingredients. The bolani was amazing, kebabs were flavorful, and the rice tasted just like home. One of the best representations of Afghan cuisine I’ve had. Highly recommend!
Best afghan food place period. Try the triple combination and potato Bolani (You're welcome). Unbelievable quality and taste is like no other. Seriously! I only do takeout, there's no dine in and the restaurant is not the same. So take it to go and picnic at a nearby park Pro-tip: Bring cash
This place is SO good! Been coming here for years and the food is just as good as ever. First of all the service is excellent; servers Masoud and Nawid were just incredible people - super kind and helpful. The cooking staff - David, Yadira, and Judith are also so friendly and talented at what they do. The lamb under rice is always melt off your fork tender. The bolani is crispy and moist and just a little bit spicy, which goes perfectly with the tart yogurt. And the Mandu 🥟 were delicious and unique from Asian dumplings. Portions are very generous and we always have leftovers. My wife and I love this place and highly recommend it!!!
De Afghanan Fremont - Flavor Bomb! Chicken tikka kabob was insanely juicy and tender, perfectly charred and seasoned. And that beef chapli kabob, melt-in-your-mouth delicious with a complex blend of spices... But hold onto your hats, folks, because the bolani stole the show! 🤤 Packed with leeks and paired with their tangy, homemade yogurt dipping sauce, it was a flavor explosion! That yogurt is the perfect sidekick to the savory filling, creating a taste sensation that'll leave you wanting more...De Afghanan is a MUST-TRY!
Super delicious food, my friend has added this spot to our list of regular spots. It's awesome for an intimate dinner (the inside isn't very big), there's an amazing fire place inside.. and the food is super delicious. We get the triple kabob, the meat is tender and flavorful, the rice is painstakingly made (get the brown you'll thank me later) and is an old recipe. Certainly a place we now frequent! Hopefully it becomes one of hour top ten too!
The presentation of the dish is very simple, Basmati rice, a bit of salad and the meat of your choice(I got chicken and beef). They are very well seasoned and prepared. The beef especially the beef, very tender. Can’t believe I visited here a couple days before I move away. I will miss this place.
I will say, this food changed my life! I had never had Afghani food before and this was such a good introduction to the food! I loved everything I ate. What I don't like so much is that is that it's cash only and the plates are quite pricey. When we handed over the cash we didn't get the remainder back- he just automatically took what was left over and put it in the tip jar with out asking. I was going to take my change (some dollars and coins?) and leave a bigger tip but since they just kept it with out asking we just left it at that.
This is a to-go place. Service is ok. There is no atmosphere as you have to stand outside the store even in the rain. But really, you come here for the food because you don’t want to sit down at the De Afghanan Cuisine place which is just across the side road alley. Go there for a more authentic Afghan vibe. And because you are here for the food, the food is good! However you can not get the lamb shank dish called Quabili Pallow. A must order if you like lamb then you must go to the cuisine place. Same owner.
The food was fire 🔥👨🚒 I loved the beef kabob, very flavorful. The eggplant was on point, the yogurt compliments to the tomato paste and eggplant. I had the triple meat 🍖 Overall 90% satisfaction! the service could've gone better if we were offered topping up our water or at least offered an extra water and all.
The food quality is very good. Quantity of food is also quite good compared to price. I could not finish one dish, it is that good quantity. This place has good variety of afghan cuisine. I tried rice with chicken and it was delicious. Lamb dishes are also good. The place is little cozy and often crowded. So if you go in peak lunch time, you may have to wait. There is parking in next block and you generally will find a spot there. It is good place overall for team lunch on friday.
Delicious food, reasonable price, and decent service. We ordered bolani kado (pancake with squash and green onion), Mantu (dumplings with ground beef) and the kebob combo (chicken, beef and spicy beef patties with rice, salad, and Afgan bread). The meat was nicely grilled, so tender and juicy - possibly the best kebob in town. On Sunday this place gets busy after 12:30, so come earlier to avoid a wait. Be warned, this place gets loud when it gets full. With people waiting, it's not the best place for long conversation.
Used to be 5 stars New employee or new management 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎 Meat is not flavor full as it used to be Shornakhod potato salad is good at the San Francisco location this location nasty Salad they have been changing the salad for decades Used to be tomato and onion Then mini cucumber and a few piece of tomato Now big chunks of cucumber There getting lazy I still come here out of all the other Afghan kabobs this still beats other Afghan kabob shops I was told you changed for charcoal to gas
We are at this place by 7:50 PM Tuesday. No much waiting time but all tables are full. We seated and ordered by 8 PM as we already know what to order. Bodinjon Borani - Eggplant Appetizer Murgh Kabob - Chicken dish Quabili Pallow - Lamb Shank dish Baklava and Sheer Yakh - Sweet Out of the above 4 items - Murgh Kabob was delicious and must try and also sweet Baklava For vegetarians- Bodinjon Borani must try is soo melting in mouth. Lamb shank I rate 4/10. Sheer Yakh dessert must try item Poor service- we got order by 40 minutes They totally forgot that we ordered desserts and we need to remind them again and again. I asked why they are late and they replied we are busy But I see there was only 2 families sitting in restaurant. Please see attached images.
Food is ok, the kebob plate is really salty. Service is very minimal (and still need to pay for tips), the server was not even responding to us. Table layout is bad, we needed to move table for the other customer to come in. Mind the waiting time too.
We’ve been customers of this Afghan Kabob House for about 20 years now. We used to order regularly, and even dined at the main De Afghanan Restaurant, but as prices increased over the years, we’ve limited our visits to once or twice a year for the past decade. I regret not leaving a review earlier—I didn’t want to simply echo what everyone says: that this is the best kabob. Unfortunately, today that “is” became a “was.” We ordered lamb and beef, and I was surprised to see the total come to $43. I wasn’t surprised that they only accept cash. What was shocking, however, was the taste and quality of the food. This is not the same Kabob House we once loved. The meat was overcooked, less tender, and noticeably different in flavor. The main reason for this review is the strange taste I noticed while eating the meat. After biting my third piece of meat, it tasted so off that I had to spit it out and rinsed my mouth right away. I became genuinely concerned about getting food poisoning, completely lost my appetite, and stopped eating. Sadly, after so many years of loyalty, this experience means we won’t be returning. You’ve lost another long-time customer.
I cant explain enough about how bad this restaurant is. I order the kabob here and it was just disgusting. The meat was hard and the rice smelled absolutely horrible. I do not recommend this place. This place it a waste of money.
