My server was very funny and helpful. He listened to what my allergies are and what he recommends. I have a salmon sandwich with fries. The sandwich was a little too much pil/butter for my tummy, but my mouth was enjoying it. The bathrooms are in the old jail and lots of old pictures are on the walls. I love constantly learning about places near and far.

Awesome spot for a date! We sat on the outdoor patio during karaoke night, and it was an amazing atmosphere during sunset. We have already visited twice this week for dinner & breakfast. The staff are personable and hilarious. The food, especially the fries, was delicious.

Overall a good experience. Had chef special Chile serrano omelette with Greg jalapeños and Lemon drop. Liked food and drink very much and would definitely come back . Atmosphere is little noisy and ambience was not up to mark and could be better The jalapeño poppers were dam spicy and I personally liked it

Lived in the area and first time and we went for dinner on a Tuesday night and surprisingly it was packed. I ordered the ribeye steak and my wife ordered the pasta dish which was our favorite. Service was kind of slow but we wanted to support local business.

I haven't been to old city hall restaurant in a minute. I had a gift certificateto use. I ordered the skirt steak and a salad. It was before 4 o'clock so i couldn't get a baked potatoe or mashed potatoes. I had to get rice or fries. The steak was good.

We like to sit at the bar & listen to the salty owner complain about whatever. I recommend either the eggs Benedict or they do a plate that's fried chicken, biscuits & gravy, potatoes (home fries or hash browns). If you get that be hungry because it's enough for 2 people. They also do a great Monte Cristo. I also recommend the tomato soup with grilled cheese. They also have gift cards sometimes at Costco and you can get $100 gift card for $50 so that's great and keep a receipt in your wallet or purse because when you go in there if you order two entrees and you have a receipt that second one is half off. Mondays is half off appetizers. Thursday is half off pastas.

Outer building does not translate into interior look, as it is modern inside but some old elements are still there. Clean inside, helpful server, and easy to go to/get a seat. They have a roasted garlic app plate. 3 garlic bulbs with crostini. Was $11 & Good. Could easily level up and be more Gilroy-ish with a few more crostini, get rid of the plastic sauce cup ( just have a small bottle of balsamic vinegar & add small bottle of olive oil), and use organic bulbs with local farm named. Had tomato soup & hot tea too. It would be great to have tofu as an option to swap out animal for plant protein.

Had high hope for this restaurant, but it fell flat in person. Service: Seated quickly, slow service even though it didn't seem that busy, our waitress was friendly but not very attentive, made a couple of mistakes on my order. Food: fish and chips and garlic burgers were meh, nothing special about them. Upgraded garlic fries for fish and chips (quoted $1 but charged $2), was not worth it. Worst of them all was the clam chowder, it was more like a flour chunk cream soup, virtually no clam or potato, a can of clam chowder does a better job than this, unfortunately. Maybe it was an off-day, but we won't be back.

I’m sure it was particularly slow due to Tamale Festival & Car show but the place was dead when we got there. One other set of customers, which was as a couple (who ALREADY had their food when we got there) and then myself, husband, and 2 year old son entered and sat down. Our orders were taken and then the owner comes to our table and asks if we’re parked out back. Seemed like he was on a mission to make sure only paying customers were using their parking.. Weird, but OK.. The waiter was nice and tentative, but the food took FOREVER to get to our table, at least 20-30 mins (again, no other people in the restaurant at this point) He brought my son’s food first because you know, impatient 2 year olds and we are giving him snacks from home at this point trying to keep him happy. I thought that was nice of him, as we try hard to keep him entertained rather than giving him a screen. Upon setting down his plate of food, the waiter says “I’m gonna give you guys a 25% discount because that took way too long and you have a VERY patient and behaved little guy.” Okay sweet, thanks! THEN, I start cutting into my son’s pancake and it is completely RAW inside, I mean, still cold pancake batter. I was irritated at this point. A waitress came and asked how things were and I sent the whole plate back. They bring his eggs and sausage back, and she starts commenting how hungry he is (he’s ravenously eating his eggs at this point) I said “YEAH, we’ve been waiting a long time.” Finally they bring my husbands food, and then mine. Husband says his was OK but he’s not one to complain. I ordered MEDIUM steak and eggs, and when I tell you this steak was nearly a piece of jerky, I’m not kidding. They ended up also bringing my son a bowl of fruit (which they didn’t charge us for) and then a new (cooked) pancake. Overall service was OK, but the food and wait time was absolutely ridiculous. Atmosphere was also outdated, musty upon entrance, and lacked luster for such an important building of the city. Will NOT be going back.

We went here for dinner. I had Shrimp Scampi and my husband had Calamari Steak. I'm used to Scampi having a prominent white wine and garlic flavor. This version was bland. The sauce was mostly butter with a hint of wine. I wouldn't order it again. My husband loved his Calamari Steak, which did have a lot of garlic.

Had the linguini and meatballs. Meatballs tasted like greasy pork, sauce was some sort of tomato cream sauce with an odd flavor. Ended up eating half my wife's chicken cordon bleu thing, was just ok.

We were super excited to try this place however, they have decent food and menu but not the best service. This is the type of restaurant where the employees make you feel uncomfortable and like an inconvenience if you go in without a reservation. The food is hit or miss on the flavor. The service took forever and the hospitality was terrible from every staff member we encountered.

On a 4.5 hour drive back to LA after this meal, we struggled to find any redeeming qualities about Old City Hall. At least it gave us a laugh? Food: Terrible. The attached photos (aside from the burger) are before we touched anything. Everything looked physically thrown on the plates. And it's like, the food was wrong in both directions, in every case. The Cubano was burnt but underdone. The fries were undercooked and overcooked. The pasta salad had been boiled 40 minutes, chilled, then placed under a heat lamp. The "crostini" was dry but untoasted. They asked for a temperature on the smash burger, which is never a good sign, and indeed it was not smashed. It was the kind of meal that makes you wonder if you're going to be sick later. Service: It took 10 minutes for a host to arrive to seat us, then another 10 for our server to appear. The first thing she said was that she was quitting, and the other table she had was complaining a lot. Usually I side with the staff on these matters, but I came to realize the other table probably had a point. The restaurant was probably at 30% capacity, maybe 8 tables, and there were 3 servers working at least. And they were very clearly in the weeds. I don't know where the breakdown happened but something is not working here. Also, look at the mustard bottle. That label has not been changed in years. Absolutely horrifying. Atmosphere: The exterior is the one place Old Town Hall has any positive. The building was once the Old Town Hall, and it has cool bones. But what they've done with the inside looks like the "before" of an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. It's ugly, brown, disgusting, outdated, and absolutely unwelcoming in every regard. I hate to give a one star review unless something catastrophic happens but Old Town Hall is a catastrophe. What boggles my mind is it's featured in local "Welcome to Gilroy" printed materials and websites. Maybe it was once good, but as it stands, Old City Hall needs serious help.
