This is a very quaint, lovely Italian restaurant. We love Russos. The food is always good, the service is friendly, and to sit at the bar while food is prepared is a delight. Five stars for this family dining establishment!
Five Stars they have the best pizza and wings around. Fast and friendly service Russo is reliably and consistently fantastic. Our family loves this place.
The clams and calamari appetizers were perfect. My daughters loved their meals, and my veal was tender and cooked perfectly. Absolutely no complaints.
Every year when we go back upstate for the track we stop here and it's still awesome. Old fashioned real Italian food rectangular greasy pizza hot open face roast beef sandwiches and keno yum.
Great food and drinks! Loved the antipasto salad and Mountain Pizza. It was our server’s first first day and he did a great job despite the lean staffing there this evening.
Ultimate italian comfort food place at a reasonable price! We got lucky to run into this friendly and low key restaurant on our way to Canada. Very generous portions as well... as seen in picture :) Highly recommended!
Heard how the food was good at Russo's....and it is!! Four adults, we all tried something different and each one of us were very pleased with our selections! Can't wait to go back!
Excellent pizza and pasta worth traveling for. Great service from what looks like new people in charge. But the local people in the bar seemed clannish.
Stuffed eggplant is amazing! So delicious! Penne a la vodka & sausage was incredible! No room for dessert, the portions were quite large ( though our friend polished off the penne because it was so yummy)! Bread with butter was great. Very reasonably priced dinner entrees (had leftovers to bring home, too) Staff was lovely. Our waitress was attentive and took great care of everyone at our table. If we're in the area again, we'll definitely eat here. Thank you, Russo's for a truly lovely meal.
Oh my, what a great find! The food at Russo's is absolutely fantastic! I had eggplant parmesan with angel hair pasta and it was done to perfection. I had a bite of a Russo's Burger and it was delicious as well. The fresh made bread and house salad with plenty of meat an cheese slices rounded off a fantastic meal. Our server was friendly and attentive. We will certainly be back, and surprise, they have an extensive catering menu!
First time here. Atmosphere was good. Food was delicious. Servous was great. We are from Connecticut Visiting my mom for Mother's Day at exit 29 and sort of know exit 27. Asked Google for a restaurant in Amsterdam and Russo's is the place that came up. Great place Great place
LOVE Russo's! I've been taking family & friends there for over 30 years! Always a great experience & great food! My favorite is the fries with gravy!!! Best comfort food ever! Eggplant Parm & Linguine with clam sauce is delicious too! Don't get me going on the buttered bread... AMAZING!
If you like a neighborhood Italian joint, with zesty sauces and hefty portions, this is the place for you! We had the seafood bisque, a pizza, and the stuffed eggplant, which was all excellent... and will for another 2 nights.
Great food! Really like the chicken wings with antipasti 😋and eggplant subs from my early years 😊
We were travelling back to Cleveland from New Hampshire on I-90 and needed lunch. We got off in Amsterdam thinking there must be something there. Downtown was dead, but a google search pointed us to Russo's. It was perfect. We had gigantic (and I mean gigantic) meatball sandwiches full of sauce, cheese and meatballs, sandwiched between two gigantic pieces of bread. (Oh, we also had a basket full of that buttered gigantic bread.) The waiter was very attentive and helpful, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Great waitress . Menu had lots of offerings many varied choices compared to some Italian restaurants. The bruschetta was fantastic, greens and beans excellent and even my blue cheese and bacon burger was broiled to perfection with excellent Sweet potato fries. I was also impressed by the selection of beer on draft. We had a wonderful relaxing time and loved Russo's!
My son brought home greens and beans and 2 slices of buttered homemade bread. Most delicious I have ever had. I still meet my friends in Amsterdam and we eat at Russo’s we live near Troy NY
One of my moms favorite places to eat along with me of course. My mom had colon rectal cancer and Russo's sauce was one that my mom could still enjoy. She passed and I had Russo's cater my food this weekend for her Celebration of Life on Saturday July 10th 2021 I would recommend this place not only for your everyday dinners, but catering also the food was made fresh that day and all my family said how delicious and it was some of the best food they ate. Thank you Russo's Darrin Warren
While on a NE road trip, happened apon the Russo Grill, which turned out to be my favorite place too eat on the whole trip. Pasta and bread were delicious and the atmosphere was Great. Better than the lobster in Maine.
Their special for Restaurant week was seafood mac and cheese. It is to die for! This restaurant is a local institution and is known for Italian food and generous sandwiches. Recently, another generation has taken over and is introducing some additions to the menu, while retaining the traditional dishes. A good place to go for a meal.
Best eggplant around. Many, many options to choose from. Only negative I would share is when a hot sandwich such as roast beef or turkey is served with French fries, one would not expect they would be charged extra for gravy on the fries.
Old style family Italian restaurant with wooden booths. Fantastic pasta dishes. Homemade spaghetti sauce...delicious! The sauteed spinach with garlic was great. Freshly made home cooked bread too. Excellent service and great atmosphere. We were impressed that the current chef, the original Mr. Russo's grandson, was a graduate of CIA, the Culinary Institute of America on top of his family cooking education! See the history of Russo's from their menu that I posted as a photo! Capellini with peppers and marinara sauce was out of this world!!! Great staff and atmosphere. Thanks for an awesome place with awesome food!
My friend ordered the Lasagna and ate it all! I ordered the Chicken Parm and we also ordered a small Antipasta...everything was delicious! Kudos to you, Mike! Our waitress, Emily, was cordial, prompt and alert to our needs. Keep up the good work!
Took my grandkids here for dinner. Visiting from Ohio, wanted real Italian food. Chicken Parm, lasagne, Linguine with meatball and sausage - all excellent. Italian bread was too good to pass up but almost made impossible to still have room for dinner. And portions were large. If you went away hungry, it was your own fault. Prices were good for our area and what we are still dealing with from COVID/ supply disruption. They make their own sauce and it's awesome. Great family place.
My husband has been going to Russos since he was a kid. We have been married for nearly 34 years. We've continued to enjoy Russos together over the years as well. Russo's food is always outstanding and the atmosphere is very special. No wonder their business has continued to thrive for so many generations. Cheers to Russo' s to continue to thrive for generations to come.
We're passing through Amsterdam just looking for a bite to eat. My friend and I ask a random guy on the street for a good quality restaurant, he says come to mine follow me. We do, and WOW... Homemade bread, house Italian dressing to die for, and the food, amazing. Authentic Italian. I would highly recommend the eggplant parmesan my friend highly recommends the stuffed eggplant... This is an Empire State hidden treasure. Thanks Jim for having us follow you.
The Greatest Place to have a great meal! Food is the best
Excellent hostess or whoever is responsible for answering the phone. I called Russo's on Monday around 1 PM and asked if they had steak. She said no, they do not, but they have an excellent hot roast beef with gravy. I explained that I was taking my grandma out of the nursing home for this meal, and she really wants steak! She described the hot roast beef for me and I was stoked because it was an option. Then she suggested that perhaps Raindancer would be a good option. I said thank you and she said, and I quote, "you are very welcome and I will be here for you for whatever you need." What a gem! Then I called Raindancer to ask and make sure that they will serve steak at 2 PM on a Monday. The guy who answered the phone was annoyed with my question and said, "Of course we have steak. This is a steakhouse. If we didn't have steak, it would be weird." We did go to Raindancer, because she really wanted steak. But if it weren't for my dear grandma's dire need for steak, I would have chosen Russo's over Raindancer, just based on the beautiful conversation I had with their fantastic hostess. I'll dine at Russo's the next time I get the chance, thanks to that lovely lady I spoke with on the phone. <3
Old business, family owned, and killer food! Seafood bisque with chunks of seafood was excellent, followed by linguine and clam sauce. I barely finished it, but I did! Chuck full of clams and clam meat. Again, Excellent. Great atmosphere watching the regulars come and go. Great place that probably flies under the radar. Don't hesitate the make a trip there.
Stopped off the interstate for lunch. It was delicious. Best eggplant Parmesan my husband has ever had. And the lasagna was amazing too. I can’t recommend it enough! Also, Thanks to John for buying our meal!
We stopped here for dinner, coming off route 90. The service was friendly and fantastic. The food was delicious. 2 of us had burgers that were delicious. The sweet potato fries were yummy. My friend has lasagna and brought half home to share with his wife for lunch tomorrow. I highly recommend dinner here.
Stopped in while traveling from Syracuse to Poughkeepsie. Russo's is a gem. Loved everything about our lunch experience. I bought red sauce to go because it was so delicious. Wish I had purchased more. Fabulous.
Russo's is a great place for great food and a cold beer in a really cool, old-style restaurant. The meatballs are to die for as is their marinara sauce. Pretty much everything they serve is a real treat. The p locals/regulars are bait to talk and share stories and the staff is great. Feel free to ask them their menu recommendations. You won't regret it. Visiting Russo's is very easy as it's right on Route 5 just west of downtown Amsterdam. It's definitely worth the trip.
Wow! Let me just say it was lunch time. It wasn't overcrowded. We didn't have to wait long for a table. The portions were huge. The prices were great and the food was absolutely delicious. Their bread which later I found they make there was fantastic.
Amazing authentic Italian food and great service.
Always a pleasure! The food is consistently good. Never had anything bad at Russos. Love it! Atmosphere is pleasant. Waitress staff very attentive (Emily). Thank you for a great meal. We all had Hot Roast Beef sandwiches with gravy and fries. Roast Beef perfectly cooked.
Best Italian food! We are from Jersey Shore and almost didn't go due to a couple of bad reviews. They must be jealous competitors! And looking around the tables were filled with regular locals. Homemade lasagna was off the charts! My wife had the linguini with clams. Wow! Best she has ever had anywhere being her favorite dish! Quaint atmosphere, friendly staff. They have been doing it right for 100 years. Five minute off the thruway and well worth stopping for lunch or dinner. Just go! You will not be disappointed.
Loved this place! Definitely delicious food first time. Everything was perfect ! However could use some modern updates and a cleaner atmosphere!!! Other than that everything was superp!
We're from so cal. Took a trip to Boston, hit Niagara Falls and on the way back to Boston we stopped here. Excellent food I had eggplant parm, wife had spaghetti and meatballs. Food was great, great service and very nice ambiance. If I'm ever here again I will stop by
Wow! We tried the lump crab meat and puff pastry app, was different and very good. Loved our dinners the other night, we tried the Haddock specials and they did not disappoint! Fish was fried to perfection, was nice and hot. And cannot forget the pizza got a 6 cut to go home, was great! Drinks were cold, and service was 5 Star! Kelly and Emily make you feel right at home, and they always go above and beyond. Great Job on the new menu items, and posting on social media. Everything was great!
Classic, old-school Italian-American cuisine and atmosphere. This chef knows what he/she is doing, and the service was impeccable. The wines were fine, but if you paired this fantastic cuisine with an expanded, curated wine list, it would bring so much more out of the fantastic food. I wish I lived closer, so I could go often. I'll make a trip to come back, however.
I had the chicken sorentino (chicken and eggplant parm) with frys and gravy, wife had a neopolitan pizza with mushrooms and spinach. Dinner came with fresh buttered Italian bread. Both dinners came out piping hot and were outstanding. First time here and we will be back. Waitress was awesome too!
We ordered GF mushrooms & sausage 🍕, sautéed beans, and sausage and chicken wings with house 🥗 The food came very fast and it was delicious, additionally I enjoyed very good aperol spritz. The waitress is very friendly and helpful 🙂 We could not finish our meal and took pizza home 😊
Enjoyed a good lunch at this local spot. Started with their famous buttered bread, Antipasto for 2 (plenty for 3ppl), turkey sandwich, tomato bisque, chicken cutlet and eggplant sandwich (special). All were good and server was very friendly and provided great service. Used to live here and am glad to see it thriving.
Great old school Italian joint. As a lover of carbs, I can't recommend their fresh baked bread enough.
I love the old-timey neighborhood bar atmosphere. A great place for a beer and a shot, and some good pub food.
I've been going to this place for years. Each visit ibgo it just keeps getting better and better each time. I always request the same server everytime I go. This way I know what to expect each time. There chef they have there I believe his name is Aaron Aldi is something out of the ordinary. He meets my expectations and them some everytime my family and I go each time.
As usual, RUSSO'S was great! Had homemade pasta fabiola, delish!!! And turkey sandwich on their fabulous homemade bread. Hubby had roast beef sandwich. Their sandwiches are huge and never disappoint.
Great Pizza! I have had the eggplant and chicken parm as well and it is good but I love the pizza! I usually eat here every few months or so. Everyone there is very nice and polite and the service is pretty good.
Old school italian vibe inside, local staple. I usually like to get the burger on the home-made bread with french fries and gravy. Other good options are personal pizza, hot turkey and the antipasto.
A small warm family oriented environment, with lots of talking and noise, but conversation at one’s own table still possible . Food portion is generous with enough for leftovers. Italian sauce is good making most dishes taste very good. Chicken parmigiana offered large chicken breast while stuffed eggplant seemed smaller and a bit overcooked. I’m glad I went.
Hey, where's the Russian dressing? Been living in Amsterdam for over eight years now, but I've never been to Russo's until today that is. I've heard plenty of good things of course, but I've generally always stayed to the east of Amsterdam. Put an order in over the phone for a cup of their seafood bisque as well as the Adirondack chicken, the total only coming to a little under $30. When I got home and opened it all up I noticed that the Adirondack chicken was missing a key ingredient, the Russian dressing. It had all the other components, but there was no dressing on top. Oh it tasted good still, but I bet it would have been even better with the dressing it is suppose to come with. The accompanying fires also could either use more frying or any seasoning whatsoever, as it stands they are simply chunky fries that taste more like a baked potato than a fry. All said however, the seafood bisque was fantastic! I can see why it is a menu staple, such great flavor made for the perfect way to consume the bland fries. Oh, and the meal ended up coming with a couple slices of buttered bread, one half I used for soaking up soup and the other I used to make the Adirondack chicken a real sandwich. Which reminds me, the garlic bread it is supposed to be on had a distinct lack of garlic flavor. So my meal was a little off a full score, but the service was at least good. Seemed like they were training a new girl, who was very flighty, but the guy working there knew his stuff and brought my order out in a jiffy. So if I could I would give Russo's a 4.5 out of 5, but Goggle doesn't do half stars so a 4 will have to suffice.
Best pizza I can remember. We had sausage and mushroom. Deep dish crust ...perfect. atmospher a 10 if you consider the pictures of a 100-year history on the walls. Don't expect a modern upscale building. Very traditional for old, old restaurant and bar. Leftovers for breakfast...yum...Big portions, reasonable pricing. Splitting entrees are perfect.
What they pass off as garlic bread is embarrassing to Italians - a slice of toast with minimal butter and no garlic flavor. Food was very bland tasting. Chef needs to learn how to cook with flavorful herbs that will enhance the food. Go downstate if you want good Italian food
I went there Saturday at 12:30. We were the only ones there. I ordered a turkey sandwich with lettuce, onion, mayo.and sweet potato fries. I never got the fries and I had tomato on my sandwich and no onions.
This place is hit and miss . If you eat in , it's usually pretty good. But if you call in to take out , 3 out of 4 times my order gets messed up. My opinion it comes down to lack of management and younger and lesser help.
Great one day, not so the next. Gotta be consistent for me to keep going back. Had an awesome pizza, invited family next time - cold coffee, chicken parm that was only so-so, all dishes pretty tasteless, sorry to say. On a Saturday night no less.
Food was good. We ended up getting the lasagna. Not sure if it was prepared ahead of time but it might have been frozen. Our other guests got some gravy thing and I know that's all the rage for the region. They seemed to enjoy it. The silverware was gross. Straight up old food on it.
Middle of the road food. Had good expectations going in. Old established business, good reviews. Always busy. Building in shabby area but the building itself is in very nice shape. They served fluffy fresh homemade bread. Eh. Nothing wowed me. It was food. I did not even want to keep the leftovers. I was told it was spectacular by a coworker. Had the best pizza they ever ate. I guess I should have had pizza.
Food was OK. Not as good as I expected from other reviews and the hype on the menu. Bread was good but no small salad with your Italian meal seemed cheap to me. Could just be the area but most Italian restaurants I've been to offer a salad with the meal.
First time here .Ordered take out 2 veal Parm dinners .Asked for extra sauce on my pasta . The veal was tender and tasted good but the amount of sauce was really stingy .My pasta had little sauce not extra . I ordered a garden salad which was very good , I also ordered salad dressing in which you pay extra for . They give you plenty of bread .I would of paid for extra sauce because the veal & pasta were very dry without enough sauce . Not a $ 70.00 meal for sure .
Our waitresses was amazing. I don't know her name but she was an older gal, not a young'en. It is clear some recipes have changed. In the 35 years I have been going to Russo's this is the first time things were not consistent.
Not impressed by the fact they (Mike)didn't come in to make their soup in the a.m. (seafood bisque)so had to settle for something else.also menu prices did not match the bill.Maybe an updated menu would be a good idea. Not the waitresses fault but also made her tip smaller.
Food is excellent! I enjoyed it thoroughly. The service, however, was very unwelcoming and slow. I waited for at least 7 to 10 minutes at the bar before even being acknowledged. That was the one and only time the bartender visited. It was moderately busy Friday evening so I can be forgiving. I'll try them again.
I wasn't a fan of the pizza. Its wasn't bad but it wasn't great. And wasn't hot just warm.
We stopped in from out of town when we met up with family. Our server was very nice and friendly. There was no one else there at the noon hour when we arrived. The interior was dark and the food was mediocre. They have giant slices of fresh bread pre-buttered before the meal. 3 out of 4 of us had sandwiches which were made with same style bread. My husband is Sicilian and loves eggplant parm, so he got that sandwich. He was disappointed. The eggplant was dry and overcooked with almost no sauce on his sandwich. We got an order of fries with gravy which is one of my favorites. There wasn't much gravy and it needed seasoning. The greens and beans were ok. We did have some pumpkin cheesecake which was very yummy. I'm not sure what their specialties are or what they are known for, but we missed the mark when we ordered our lunches.
I can't rate the food becuase we didn't eat. I've heard their food is good and it was recommended we try them out. We specifically stopped here on this day because Google showed that they have quick draw and show sports on TV. I wanted to play quick draw while my wife watched the girls basketball game. There was 1 TV working and someone was already watching something on it and the quick draw TV wasn't working. The bar tender was nice enough but seemed to be working the bar and running to wait on the people sitting for dinner. We may try again another time and actually stay for dinner. I hate to give it a bad rating without really spending any time there. So for now I'll say it was "ok" and we will give it another try.
Again, unable to follow simple directions. Online order - just a simple cold sandwich with fries and ON THE SIDE. Picked up the order, which I had to wait for even though I had online ordered at 3 hours previous. Got it home, opened up the packaging and the gravy was poured over the fries rather than on the side like I had requested. I'm just really baffled as to why people cannot seem to follow very simple directions. I specifically had asked the gravy to be on the side because I don't want soggy french fries and that's exactly what I got. I knew there was a reason I had not frequented the place in a while. Thanks for the reminder
2 hour wait for food. Not super happy about that. My guess is thats not typical but that doesn't change the experience we had. Then they added an automatic 20% gratuity to our bill. Food was good though.
Pizza not the same even if u order extra sausage you can’t find any third try and pizza very skimpy
Wasn't the best experience I had. My wife and I stopped by for a night out because we heard they where pretty good before the pandemic. The drinks tasted like water from old pipes with particles floating in them. After one sip my wife asked for a replacement and they charged us for it. Food was mediocre and priced too much for the quality. Staff was otherwise friendly.
I was disappointed when we paid a reasonable price for our entree but that is all you get with maybe a slice of bread. No offer of salad or soup! It was over priced!
I have had Russos a few times and I feel like they are steadily declining in their quality food while raising their prices more and more. A few main issues here: A “medium pizza” and a side of blue cheese half full - 20 dollars. The pizza had a nice sauce but unfortunately was small and doughy. The blue cheese costed 2 dollars for a half full container. Next, comes the burger with nothing on it and a side of fries for almost 20 dollars. The burger was decent but the fries were soggy and flavorless. We had to salt our own fries and put them in the air-fryer. These are things that you would not expect from an historic Italian restaurant like Russos. Third, when you call and order they do not tell you that charge a 3 percent fee for using a debit card. When you are paying 41 dollars that feels a bit like a slap in the face. I will say that the atmosphere is nice and so are the people, but the food is what made me fall in love with Russos all of those years ago. If they are going to charge the prices that they do they need to have higher standards for quality. Other restaurants like Lorenzo’s and Boscos in Amsterdam are charging less while also giving more. For whoever is reading please look at my pictures and be the judge and if I am being out of line please tell me. Thank you
Order antipasto it was the worst that I ever got and way overpriced. Very disappointed when I got home and opened the container there wasn't half of what they say is supposed to be.
Just bought a pizza and mozzarella sticks. Mozzarella sticks were fairly hard but weren't that bad. The pizza was horrid. I don't know what kind of sauce they used but it was terrible... No spices at all and to top it off they had the cheese on the bottom and the sauce on the top. I won't go back for pizza for sure.
Ate lunch here 11/5. First time here. Very disappointing. Waitress wearing mask under chin while going thru dining room. Coughing and covering her mouth with her hand while wrapping up silverware with paper napkins. Brought pizza to our table while pulling up mask over her nose and mouth. Set hot pan on filfthy burnt potholder on our table. Gross.
I grew up on this place and its turned into a joke over the last couple of years. Price hikes, rude service and an absence of competent management has turned this once great little hole in the wall, mom and pop italian joint into just another over priced, understaffed, souless money grab of an olive garden. I've made the mistake of giving it 2 or 3 more chances but not again. There is at least one place left in this rotted husk of a mill town where one can get a dinner and a drink without bank paperwork. Sorry Russo's, our abusive relationship is over and I'm already looking.
I've always suggested that their pizza was awesome. Today my friend ordered a large pizza for us, with toppings of mushrooms and sausage. What we got was a pizza with cheese and a few mushrooms, not many at all, no sausage! Ok, the pizza sauce is amazing but we did not get what we had ordered and to say the middle of the crust was not cooked. So he calls to talk to the owner to let him know, 2 times. He was told both times that he would call him back, 6 hours later no call. For the price and taste it is worth it but when no contact is made that is poor!!! What do you think? I think they should make it right if they still want our business.
Sorry to say in spite of reviews and recommendations our meal was just plain bad. No orzo in the chicken orzo soup! The eggplant was inedible. Overdone pieces of over breaded eggplant. The mozzarella cheese not up to par. The Sicilian antipasto had tasteless cheese and a bit of salami. The bread and butter also tasteless and did not resemble Italian bread. Nice atmosphere nice waitress.
All kids working in dining room. Not one adult present to supervise. Other than the salid food was expensive and awful. $18.99 for chicken parm got half a breast no sides. $6.99 for pasta side. Done not going back. Shame on them
Worst pizza I ever had and very pricey too
Probably the worst pizza we ever ate. Very dry. Ordered a white pizza. They just put the toppings on, no butter garlic base. They forgot the ricotta cheese and over cooked it while I waited and extra 10 mins for my order. Because I waited they gave me a loaf of dry bread. Thanks, lol. We have given this place so many chances because they are so close to home. Always disappointed! We're done!
Some of the worst service I have ever received. I was waiting for my order that I had phoned in an hour and a 1/2 earlier for pick up. The girl at the cashier stood there not acknowledging me because she was apparently waiting for something else. She asked for my name her and the older gentleman there had no idea that what I was talking about. It wasn't until I turned around and was to walk out the door that the person who took my order was around. I almost left regardless, and I really should have. Then I had to wait for someone different to come ring me out because the cashier couldn't for some reason. But she did cash out the woman that came in after me. Andy give me my order in a Box, not even a bag. I had my child in my arms so that was very hard to manoeuvre, I was frustrated at that as well. And to make it more even inconvenient the older gentleman helped the woman who had a pizza in her hand out the door but I struggled and almost dropped my food to leave. I overpaid. I over paid for some noodles and cheese. 9 dollars for 4 raviolis and a meat ball and 12 dollars for an antipasto that had nothing but salami and provolone on it. I will never be returning to this restaurant.
So very disappointed. Used to like Russo's. What ever happened to customer service, The Pandemic. First, brought my chicken parmigiana dinner, when I asked for the linguini waiter asked, what do I want more, I said yes, considering they didnt put any at all on my plate. Second, the chicken is half the size it used to be. Then, couldn't cut half the chicken with my 'butter' knife or chew it due to the grizzle running through it. Asked for more bread and they brought us four heals, saying they were short staffed and could not cut more. All the waiter could say was, oh I'm sorry. Did not even offer to comp my meal.
Service was awful. Air temperature was freezing. The main course took over an hour to be served. The hamburger finally arrived but was thoroughly burned. The waitress stated that she couldn't remove any items from the bill. I've been a customer of this restaurant since the early 80s but won't be returning anytime soon. Needless to say, I can no longer recommend it.
Honestly I’m not sure why their prices are so high but it’s crazy. $10 for a cheeseburger then another $7 for fries.. plus automatic 20% gratuity and 3% for using a credit card.. fries are just frozen though.I can understand your price if they were fresh damn put another few dollars on it and I’d be ok. at the end $32 for just this .. waitress was the owner and I get you have a big party coming and I get wing fest , but she was rude as hell.. she told us another waiter would take the rest of the order and when someone at our table needed something, asking him for it she came and said well he’s not your waiter you need to ask me … ok then don’t send another waiter to serve us . Don’t send another waiter to take orders .. literally and no joke you can go to 5 guys get better service and real fries for half the cost … how does this place have 4.5 stars is beyond me …
I was excited because my father wanted to take me and my son to Russo's grill because its such a landmark in Amsterdam. Well let's just say I was completely underwhelmed and feel like my father got taken advantage of with the nickle and diming that took place. We sat down and the table which was sticky so my father wiped it down himself. Gross. We both ordered a diet Pepsi.. we could see through it bc there was hardly any syrup in it, basically seltzer. I mentioned to the server, she came back with new ones and still the same problem..clearly it is what they serve. My son who is 8 had a KIDS sprite and it was flat. But he was drinking it. So I felt like I should leave it alone. My father ordered soup.. corn chowder which was filled with potatoes and hardly any corn. I ordered a burger medium but it came out medium well, I was hungry so I left it alone. My father ordered a sausage sandwich which was a sausage patty on two thick pieces if Italian bread and my son had kids tenders and fries. Food was fair if that. Fries are frozen not fresh and do not come with the burger, let the nickel and diming begin. So my sons KIDS MEAL WAS 14 DOLLARS AND THE KIDS SODA WAS 4.50. Damn near 20 dollars for a kids meal. The soda was not included. In what world is this okay. For a staple in the community you should be ashamed of yourself. Party of 3 ended up being 90 dollars for a burger, kids meal and a sandwich and we had a special Togo which by the way was a dinner and it was the same price my sons garbage tenders were. We brought up the 4.50 for the 6 Oz of soda and the server was less then understanding and was useless in helping and said " yeahhhhh its 4.50 bc there are free refills." Lol um a kids cup should have been included especially for 13.50. SAVE YOUR MONEY don't waste it at this dump.
Food was grossly undercooked. Had to send it back - which started the issue. 25 mins later same pizza came back. Waitress couldn't decipher who's was who's. Fortunately or unfortunately I had taken a bite - so after extremely close inspection- because now it was cooked-- i was able to decipher- my friend had ordered the same pie. Didn't want a second beer -- after the long wait of the offer - so opted for water. Had to asked 3x. Asked for napkins 4x before getting them. The dining room was not busy. Sad part is have been going to this restaurant fir at least 6 ys. My lunch friend 30. She used to go with her deceased husband. It was supposed to be joyful. Asked for a box. Waitress slides my pizza into a flat brown paper bag. No foil no wax paper nothing. I asked for foil because I have leather seats and I was berated by the waitress- she saying "thats a different one- never heard of that one!" Prior to that I kept my mouth shut over the 4x asking for napkins- the numerous asks for water-- whereas she proceeded to argue loudly. We asked for the mgr. She claimed to be the mgr. She claimed she worked there for 12 yrs. She was all of 25 at best. I told her she was undeniably unprofessional Mind you my husband and I usually go a different day of the week and bring the grands on many Sundays for pizza & pasta. We like their homemade meatballs. But never again. NEVER! My friend has been a regular for 30 yrs. I asked for the check and a young man threw it at the table. I forgot to mention when she slid the pizza into a brown cardshop flat paper bag. Her finger was in my pizza Also upon leaving the kid who flung the check - was right at the door smoking. Then another gentleman whom I recognized as staff- he was bussing tables - out there- i believe also smoking a cigarette. In NYS there is a strict HEALTH DEPT law - no smoking within 500 ft of ANY building much less the front door of your restaurant-- especially staff. Don't waste your money . $60 for one tap beer - two pizzas--signature pies -- small - Supposedly signature NOT PAN - she served raw pan watery and unmelted cheese -- and we were the problem. That bill wasn't even with tip. -- take your appetite and your HARD EARNED MONEY to an establishment who actually appreciates your patronage. I only wish I took a'photo of the raw pizza-- but at thst point I was hopeful and hungry. Additional note-- we should have not gone in-- the stink and reek of Marijuana in the doorway of the restaurant should have been the clue.
Just had the most expensive pizza ever. Pizza slices were about half to a third of what you get from anywhere else. $105 (2) 12 cut pizza, 1 was an Irish Pizza, the other a meat pizza with 4 toppings and a 2 person antipasto salad. Now when you order online it does show that price however wow did we get a sticker shock because we order over the phone. I mean if it were normal size slices or maybe even if it was out of this world. In comparison when we order this at other places we spend $60 -> $80.
