The food was amazing and fairly priced. We’re only here for 4 days and we might have to go back before we leave 😂
Great food, excellent carne asada. Good for families. Good prices. Will definitely go back.
Had a fabulous time for a birthday dinner! We came in with a large party and the team accommodated us. Everyone was so friendly Rene was the best server, he went out of his way to make our meal amazing. Will be back and will recommend to all our friends!
We love coming here every time we are in town. Service is top notch, they’re so family friendly and the food is always comforting and delicious. Atmosphere is homey and welcoming!
Really amazing restaurant! Everything I've had was so good, and the place looked really cool. The staff was attentive and friendly. If you're ever in Grandby, stop by!
Stayed at the Grandby condominium and this place is basically the only thing open most of the time and it has amazing food. I ordered the enchiladas de mole (pollo) 😋 needless to say it's way better than some I've tried in Texas back home ordered it 2 days in a row. Definitely reccomend. My husband got the pozole and the fajita plate. Both were very good too.
THE BEST and most authentic Mexican entrees I've had for a LONG time! Absolutely MUST eat here. The staff are super friendly. Atmosphere is perfect. The menu is absolutely brimming with fantastic dishes I haven't seen outside of Mexico. Every meat dish is tender and bursting with flavor - adding salsa or hot sauce would only decrease the experience.
Loved it. We had a long day in the mountains coming from Grand Lake. My fiancée loves Mexican and it was her birthday so we looked around for a Mexican restaurant and there was not many…. We live close to St. Louis, MO so we have literally hundreds of Mexican restaurants around us (see other reviews) and generally only having 1 option isn’t the greatest option. We were very happy to say that for the 2nd time in a row the mountains did not let us down. GRAND Azteca may be a bit of a stretch as far as the location but I noticed that in the Rockies it’s very much form over function and we came in the winter which in the mountains is the way off season. The building was small, however it had what looked like a fine patio for the better seasons. When we went in we were greeted with a Christmas tree and 2 hellos from staff. We were seated and this is the truth. Our server had saw us pull up and had hot chips and salsa on our table before we walked in the door. I had a Diet Coke and she had a margarita on the rocks. Nothing special on taste but it was heavy tequila and in a huge glass so it wins. We also had their nachos which were very simple with cheese and chicken guacamole sour cream onions lettuce tomato and beans it was very good. We then had a two burrito plate with rice and beans. This was right where it needed to be if you are looking for something standard but good. Seasoned ground beef with red sauce and cheese melted over the top. With spot on refried beans and rice again pretty standard but in the best way possible. It was whole made and wholesome the rice was toasted and the beans had just enough spice and mixed together.. delicious!!! I had a beef Colorado dish which was really fantastic. The sauce was like a mole sauce dark with a rich flavor robust with almost a hint of dark chocolate..? The beef was the tenderest and it was topped with pico. I would recommend this dish and I would order it again. It was delicious and unique in my humble opinion. The staff was excellent and I very much recommend this place.
We’ve been here twice now. The food is priced extremely well. The service is generally quick and friendly. It’s not our favorite Mexican food, portions seem a little small, but it’s a good option if you’re in the area. Also, I love free chips & salsa, which this place has!
Amazing food!! This is what I think authentic Mexican taste like. Everything was so flavorful and fresh tasting. The salsa was a bit on the spicy side for our women but taste so good they couldn’t stop eating it. The margaritas were on point. We had a big group and everyone praised the food. The only complaints we had were the flour tortillas taste store bought. They had a not so appetizing flavor that didn’t compliment the food well. Also it was very noisy. The music was so loud it was hard to hear so you had to talk loud to hear over the music. Service was great. This place was very busy and I can see why.
Experience was ok for being rh first time here. I had the relleno burrito and the beans were still hard and the chile still had alot of seed in it. Husband had pollo Chipotle and had no flavor, he had to add salt to it. I had asked the waitress for a small sample of the green chili and she said she couldn't do it but I asked who i think is the owner and he was able to. Over all i dont think we'll be back
I was warmly greeted and attended by Rene. And as typical at most Mexican restaurants, I was served chips and salsa...the BEST chips and salsa I have ever had. The chips were so fresh and crispy and the salsa was to die for: lots of zingy flavor without the sensation of dipping your chips in a bottle of Texas Pete. I ordered the Burrito Hambreado which was delicious and the service was attentive. Keep in mind I understand there is another Mexican restaurant that may be more "authentic" but I prefer Mexican American since I don't care for hot, spicy, peppery food. I enjoyed the cool artwork that adorned the space where I sat. After eating I started to type up what would have otherwise been a 5-star rating until a staffer more or less booted me out of the place! Wow!!! Granted it was toward closing but trust me, I have been in the restaurant business; cleaning and closing an establishment for the night takes time. And yes, I had paid my tab so it is not like I was holding up that process. I will check out the competition next time I have a hankering for Mexican food...if only I could bring my wonderful server Rene with me.
Nice place, good food and good service. Arrived there very close to the closing time; however, they were very courteous and served us. The black beans soup was a bit salty for my taste, but good. The sizzling fajitas were delicious, so was the sangria. Not crazy about the arepas, they were stuck to each other and undercooked. I’d go back.
Been here many times. Never impressed but decent enough for grand county. Went 2 nights ago and ordered the carnitas burrito. Pork was large fatty chunks and tough/chewy. Multiple pieces were just fat. Couldn’t even finish it- was not good. Rice was undercooked and beans were bland. Have ordered it before and don’t remember it being this bad- hope they fix it. $18 for a burrito that went to the trash. Super disappointing
I ate here on a saturday afternoon. My partner and I both ordered the carnitas burritos. The carnitas was extremely hard and difficult to chew, and tasted like it was leftover from the night before and reheated in a microwave. There was also a hair on my plate when they brought my food out. The portions were nice and the rice and beans were good, but the meat was lackluster and old. Not terrible, but not worth the hype in the other reviews. Maybe we just got old food because it was earlier closer to when they opened, but that isn’t really an excuse to serve a poor meal. If i’m ever in Granny again I won’t be returning.
Update: my husband had been in the bathroom all night. If you are road tripping, I do not recommend. The food is just okay. The margaritas were good. The tamales are terrible, the rice was crunchy. Loved the patio and service. The food needs work.
I want to give a shout-out to the one guy working the kitchen tonight—he was working incredibly hard. However, it’s a shame that ownership left him solo on one of the busiest nights of the year Valentine’s Day . My 1-star rating is for the poor planning and lack of support for the staff, which led to a very long wait for our meal.
