Doppio in Greenwich is a total vibe whether you sit indoors at a cozy, dimly lit table / the chic bar, or outdoors on the charming sidewalk. Hands-down some of the best spicy rigatoni vodka I have had in Connecticut—and the fried artichoke app is to die for! Stellar wine menu, too.
Doppio has one of my favorite pizzas, the Diavola, which consists of fresh mozzarella, pepperoni, and chili oil. The chili oil gives it the perfect spicy kick. It comes with 6 slices, great to share with another person. I’ve also tried their prosciutto and arugula pizza, which comes with a generous amount of prosciutto. Both of these are thin-crust pizzas. There is a parking lot behind the restaurant, as well as street parking which is free after 5 PM.
Doppio in Greenwich is a charming Italian eatery that blends upscale ambiance with the comfort of a neighborhood favorite. The atmosphere is inviting—ideal for a casual lunch, a date night, or even a cozy dinner with friends. We ordered the Penne alla Vodka and the Prosciutto & Arugula Pizza, and both dishes were excellent. 🍝 Penne alla Vodka: The sauce was rich and creamy with just the right touch of tomato and a subtle vodka kick. The pasta was perfectly al dente, and the portion was generous without being overwhelming. 🍕 Prosciutto & Arugula Pizza: A standout! The thin, crisp crust had just the right amount of char. Topped with fresh arugula, delicate slices of prosciutto, and shaved Parmesan, every bite was fresh, savory, and well-balanced. The service was friendly and attentive, and the overall experience felt relaxed but refined. Whether you’re craving classic pasta or wood-fired pizza, Doppio in Greenwich is absolutely worth a visit. 😎Doppio 📍41 E Elm St, Greenwich, CT 06830 #DoppioGreenwich #ItalianFoodLovers #PenneAllaVodka #ProsciuttoPizza #GreenwichEats #FoodieCT #PizzaLovers #PastaLovers #DateNightVibes #GreenwichRestaurants #CTFoodie #FoodReview #AuthenticItalian #WoodFiredPizza
Set on a side street just a block from the hustle and bustle of Greenwich Avenue this is a perfect spot for a relaxing lunch. We chose the outdoor seating to enjoy the beautiful day. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauce was just right, home made I am sure. The pizza was also delicious. I love this place. Amazing Butternut squash with crispy kale! And save room for the affogato!!!
Had brunch at DOPPIO in Greenwich today it was fabulous. I love the new brunch menu. It carries many brunching delights and keeps a great company of new reviving cocktails. I enjoyed the Bloody Mary and closed with the Roman cocktail. The Bloody Mary was dressed and spiced for a red carpet gala..While the Roman was foaming with energy to help you carry out the rest of the day. I had The Burger di Lou. It was mean on the outside and perfectly seasoned and juicy on the inside.. the gooey creamy and nutty. Gruyère appeased it and the critical pickles embraced it. Nothing comes close to this burger.. Well curdled and well done doppio
One of my favorite spots in Greenwich. The fish specials and any fish dishes are by far best in Greenwich. So is their pizza. Love the place.
Wide range of delightful recipes on this Five Star menue...from Panini's to 🐟 fish - back to Pasta, 🍕 Pizza & salads.
Squisito!! The short rib was perfectly tender and succulent as its nested with juicy complements. Heavenly paired with a classic Chianti. Doppio has done it again. Dipping is concurring and indulging. It’s simply a as capturing magic as you can get. Salute!
We drive up to here often from Westchester, my family & I love this place Thank you for the outstanding service & excellent food!
This has to be my favorite restaurant. I love the atmosphere, the food is authentically Italian, and the menu is meticulously crafted. I have been here many times, and I can’t say enough good things about this place.
5 stars for food and ambience. Menu is creative and food execution was great. The service, however, left something to be desired. But we would return
Incredible food, extremely nice staff. Beautiful outdoors seating! Had a wonderful time here, would definitely recommend.
Great staff. I had pizza very delicious not heavy. Outdoor dining in nice day is best.
Love the ambience of the place. It's small but quiet even when crowded because the ceilings are "Rolling Stone"—high and painted black. The service is great—attentive but not doting. The GF pasta with carbonara sauce is excellent as are the salmon and branzino entres.
Nice place! Pizza was amazing, and my wife a great pasta dish. Would definitely go again!
Really enjoyed our lunch at Doppio! Pizza, pasta and salads were of great quality. Great choices of wines too. The service was very responsive and friendly. A casual, but good quality lunch spot we will certainly return to.
My family and I stopped in while passing through Greenwich and were pleasantly surprised! The food was incredible as was the ambiance and (most) of the service and hospitality. Would highly recommend and we will be back! (Note, the Marsala was some of the best we’ve had 🙌🏼)
Doppio is our go-to spot for lunch on Mondays. Experience a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere complemented by delightful owners and warm, attentive staff. It's evident that customer satisfaction is their top focus. Indulge in fresh and flavorful classic Italian dishes with innovative flair. 5/5 stars - Certified fresh!
Food is exceptional, and amazing keeps getting better. Service is impeccable and the atmosphere, especially outdoor seating, makes for a “perfetto” experience. A little bit of Italy in Greenwich.
Lovely spot for a group gathering. We had a group of 12 and they kept us filled up with water and nice wine. The salads were tasty and the tagliatelle had a nice bite and a flavorful ragu sauce. Nice ambiance and the smaller tables also seemed to be having a good time.
Cozy place serves comfort Italian foods. Calamari was very crispy and flavorful. Neapolitan pizza was very good. Staff very accommodating and friendly. Definitely would comeback and try other foods in the menu.
We hit the place up a couple times a year. They are very consistent, I keep it simple and get the Margarita. If you are in that area for shopping it's a great choice as its solid food and you are in and out generally with no wait.
This pizza restaurant is the most delicious I have ever eaten. The environment is great, the ingredients are great, and the service is also very warm. My wife and I had a good night. I will come back again!
Excellent food! Great vibe. Pasta was cooked perfectly, carciofi was amazing.
Incredible restaurant. From the decor, to the service, down the food, my grandpa and I had a great time. He got the Greca salad and it was great, I also got a salad too. Worth every minute and every dollar. Loretta is fantastic—-very involved and hands on with her restaurant. Watches over every operation to make sure guests are happy. She came and spoke to my grandfather and I and we became friends. She even recommended some fun things to do in the area. This would be a great spot to rent our for a small event like a baby shower or grad party. Go check out Doppio, friends.
Been doing lunch/dinners at Doppio for 10+ years and thrilled they are opening New Canaan location. I miss their deli and look forward to the new restaurant in town. Home style Italian food with a welcoming and warm feel. - Tony
Doppio accommodated our party of eight with a stroller. The staff were attentive and couldn’t be nicer. Everyone loved their dish. Amazing affogato!
Amazing! The best Italian restaurant in CT. What a wonderful waitstaff, Loretta was wonderful! I got the veal Milanese and my mom got the salmon, it was to die for. everything was so fresh and the quality was amazing. Thank you so much for the amazing food, atmosphere and service! 5 Stars!
Doppio is our family's FAVORITE restaurant. The cozy atmosphere and delicious food make it a weekly stop with the kids or just a date night at the bar. WE are always welcomed with a smile and excellent service. Thrilled that we have this haunt in our community.
Doppio is a cozy neighborhood hideaway. Its casual atmosphere and array of pizzas makes it approachable for kids – but the quality of its dishes makes it a solid option for adults (with or without kids). On a recent visit I started with the Crostone, a delicious blend of burrata, prosciutto, fig and honey on a tasty sourdough bread slice. My colleague ordered the butternut squash, which was thick and creamy despite not being a cream base. Both apps are highly recommended. For main dishes, my colleague ordered the chicken scarp and I ordered the cache a pepe, a Roman specialty. The scarp didn’t look particularly appetizing, served in an iron skillet with what looked like excessive and watery liquid – but my colleague (a chicken scarp expert) gave it rave reviews despite the off-putting appearance. As for the cache a pepe, I would give it a “good but not great” review. It’s such a hard dish to get right and the consistency needs to be perfect. Here, it was just a touch thin and could benefit from just a little more pepper. All in all, Doppio is still a really high-quality neighborhood joint.
Food is good, solid and consistent. We've been coming here several times a year for over 10 years. Pizza is one of the best, probably best in Greenwich. Dough is satisfyingly chewy, soft and with some sweetness. One thing though is that their pepperoni changed a few years ago. It used to be more artisanal, now it's just the regular common pepperoni. Host could be more warm and welcoming to customers, especially if they're regulars for a very long time.
It has a very nice and elegant atmosphere with a decent selection of tasty dishes. Today the employees were very helpful and accommodating which kind of surprised me to be honest, as every other time I've gone in, it seemed rather difficult to get someone's attention and when they did finally notice me, they acted rather impatient with me, which definitely puts a huge dampener on what was supposed to be an enjoyable occasion, not to mention, rather annoying. Obviously it wasn't that bad since I still feel 4 stars is a fair and accurate rating.
Excellent quality food. The service is not typically American efficient. You have to ask for water and wine serving though it was not so busy. Absolutely not professional. Additionally, I paid cash and didn’t get the right amount back and had to ask for the correct amount back. We ordered espresso which didn’t come. For my rest food they didn’t ask whether we want to take back. They always look in hurry and wanted us to leave as soon as possible. Probably too many people waiting on order.
The negative reviews for service seem to be warranted. I ordered one pizza - a single Margherita pizza for take-out. When I arrived in the 10-15 min window they said it would be ready, they were surprised and said that an order was never placed - huh?? I placed an order just 10 min ago! I was stunned, but the waiter at least was kind enough to offer to make the pizza quick and told me to wait 7 min. I said ok. After about 3 min he found my pizza underneath a random shelf, now getting cold. I was shocked that they were this disorganized on a winter Monday evening with a pretty empty restaurant. Nevertheless, I got my pizza and went home. However, I do have to say that the pizza was quite good. I was surprised I enjoyed it so much! The crust and dough had great texture - however, I felt that $21 for that small pizza is a bit outrageous. That's why I'm bumping this down to a 3-star. I didn't move to Greenwich from NYC to just have NYC prices at lower quality - I'd recommend other pizza restaurants in the area!
My wife had a nice time with her friend. Calamari was not very good and she tried to leave it but the restaurant didn't want it either and insisted she take it with her! The Bolognese was just fine. Nice vibes.
Pretty bummed with the portion size for delivery. I get this same dish all the time in person for the same price but no way is this what it’s like while eating in the restaurant. Disappointing.. Update: Tried take out again and sadly have to say this is my last time wasting time and money on Doppio… The Caesar salad pictured below was the poorest parts of the lettuce and the “Caesar dressing” was so bad it’s hard to explain…
Went around noon on memorial day. I ordered a Bleecker St style pizza, which was acceptable. The fork they gave my friend was dirty (obviously unwashed and had food on it), and the waitress was extremely dry and didn't even apologize when we asked for a new one. I immediately got food poisoning after leaving. Overall, horrible experience, and I can only assume it isn't usually this bad from the rave reviews others have given me.
Ordered Pizza to be delivered, overpriced for the size of the pizza ( very small) . Added grilled chicken for 12.00 , lucky I got 6 strips . In total with tip 40.00. Not worth it. !!!
Ordered it for take out, I got the Greco salad, tuna tat tar, and the mushroom/prosciutto pizza…the salad is excellent and I’d for sure order again. It’s light and flavorful- perfect Greek salad. The tuna was deeply disappointing- tasted like it was still defrosting, very little flavor, and very very soggy. There was a layer of water beneath the tuna. I really regret ordering this. Tuna Tar Tar is one of my favorite dishes, and I felt like treating myself, so this was a big bummer 😞 The pizza also was lacking in flavor. It’s a bummer because I can tell it’s good quality ingredients, but the flavor just simply is not there. I’d probably try them again given how delicious the salad is.
My friend and I were excited to try out this restaurant. It was around 2 p.m., which not many people. We were seated next to the window, and then a waitress( old lady) came to ask if we were ready to order. We just seated and saw a menu....she was rushed to us for....(unacceptable manner or no good at hospitality service). After that, we ordered pizza and salad for sharing, and we were trying yo enjoy the meal. This lady again interrupted many times, like to rush us to leave, which there are many available tables if they want to seat the customer( but not much customer at that time)!!! The service is the thing that brings this restaurant to low quality. Since your food is good ...so why dont you improve this issue seriously. I have been din in many restaurants in the local greenwich, CT. Your waitress is unqualified!
Have been to this place many times but today was bad - really bad. After waiting for 30+ mins to only realize that another guest (who walked in after us) was given the table before us. Excuse was “they had a reservation” which was a lie because my daughter asked the guest if they had a reservation and they confirmed they did not. When it came to the food, ordered Nutella pizza, among other items, which was significantly undercooked and doughy, they reheated it but now the Nutella was burnt. The crazy part was manager spits out lies without hesitation. First was about the reservation and this time the excuse was “we have changed the dough last Thursday so it will always be doughy”.. just amazing and hence my sign off on the bill. To be clear we were not charged for the Nutella pizza or the free garlic bread to make up for mess up for the table assignment.
I ordered the Uber eats, the pizza was disgusting and was rushed to my area. I understand it’s Christmas but come on… pizza? I’m never ordering anything from this place again. If you are smart enough you wouldn’t either.
Disappointing. Used to be one of our favorite restaurants but the quality has significantly declined during COVID (although the price has not!). This is a picture of a $20 "personal pan pizza" I ordered. Disgusting. Will be recommending that my family and friends order elsewhere from now on.
Went for dinner got verbally assaulted by waiter because i left 300 cash for a 250 tab. When I called manager, who by the way would not tell me her name, could not be bothered, and was ruder than waiter! The soup nazi from Seinfeld is alive and well at this place ... only difference is this is a glorified overpriced pizza place! LOL. I left my number and asked owner to call, of course never did! Places that don't appreciate your business, don't deserve it!
Nice place if you go there but do not order for delivery. They do not deliver what you order. They leave things out that they charge you for them. And when you call they are rude and offer no apology or solution. We have been there many times and have ordered take out from them before and they do not care if your order is wrong. I would never patronize them or recommend them to anyone. Greenwich has so many good restaurants that are fabulous and care about customer service. Doppio is a no no.
Ok restaurant but not worth going to . We experienced bad service with good food here a year or two ago but decided to give it another try . This time the food was below average and the service was down right terrible . Had to chase the serves to order anything then we were over charged on our bill and after pointing this out to the serve we weren’t even offered an apology. Try other spots on the ave for better food and service .
Barely mediocre food with really nasty service. Have been here a few times, food has been relatively good but service has always been pretty bad. Today not only was the food barely okay, the service was just terrible. When we pointed out that we were charged for drinks that we didn’t order, the waiter said “ok I’ll take it off”, no apology or anything. . Really not worth the time or money
The waitstaff was terrible. They never apologized for the long wait and poor service, serving barely reheated frozen bread. The service is sub par. They added a 20% tip to the check. There was no notification on the menu that tips would be automatically added to the bill. We have eaten here many times before, the tip has never been added. They never checked to see if we needed anything when the food was finally served. We were 4 adults and a nearly 5yr old, arrived on Sunday by 6p, without a res. We waited at the bar, as they requested. They said 15 min then gave us a menu. We asked to place the order, hoping once we were seated we would be shortening the wait. The owner/bartender said, just wait, you are about to be seated shortly. So we did. We were seated in another 10min. We had to call the waiter over to place the order. We ordered the special appetizer: grilled bread with ricotta, plus 2 salads, eggplant, 2 pastas and 2 pizzas. After 30min we asked for the appetizer, the waiter replied: “you asked for everything at the same time, but it’s coming soon.”10min later we asked for a piece of bread for our grandson. That arrived with the center frozen. We informed the staff, 10 min later some bread arrived then 5 min later the food arrived. We had to ask for serving utensils.
I recently dined at Doppio, and unfortunately, it was a deeply disappointing experience. From the moment we were seated, the service was subpar. After our waiter took our order, he promptly took our menus without even asking for our main course selection, which seemed odd. We noticed that four other tables who arrived after us were served their meals, while we continued to wait without any updates or explanations. When we finally brought this to the attention of the hostess (or perhaps the owner), she nodded, walked away, and never came back—almost as if she was trying to avoid addressing the situation. No apology, no follow-up. It was clear they had made a mistake, yet there was no effort to correct it or acknowledge the poor service. When our food finally arrived, it looked hastily thrown together, as if someone had just slipped it into a bowl without any care. The quality reflected the same disregard we experienced throughout the evening. After checking some other reviews, it seems that this is a recurring issue, which leads me to believe that poor service and inattentive management are common problems here. It’s disappointing to see such a lack of professionalism, and I can’t recommend this restaurant based on my experience.
For many many years and me the restaurant business owned it worked it everything first time in my life in 39 years of experience I came to this restaurant and they served literally a side dish of spaghetti with Alfredo and chicken the chicken was sliced so thin grilled dry they put so much cheese was so salty and they charge $48 for that chicken Alfredo pasta !! In a diner you get triple the amount and it’s the real Alfredo chicken!!every time the door opens you freeze very small portions. I will not recommend it I will not go back very disappointed a side dish of pasta $48 with dry grilled chicken.
