Hidden gem in Greenwich, NY! This unique, one of a kind location boasts a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for casual drinks, intimate dining and everything in between. The owner Chris was not only welcoming but evidently passionate about his locally sourced, lovingly crafted menu offerings. Though we’re relatively inexperienced with German cuisine, he took the time to explain every dish, make recommendations and went above and beyond to accommodate our friends dietary restrictions. It’s an absolute must go and one of our new favorites!
I was born in Strasbourg, the capital of Alsace (Elsass in German) and spend a lot of years before moving to the US… and missing our traditional gastronomy… until now. Chris has managed to create a cozy restaurant with a great vibe, and awesome menu. Everything is very reasonably priced and tasty. We had several flammkueche, and, like in Alsace, the restaurateur is open to a few changes so do not hesitate to ask. I had the Cordon Bleu, made with real gruyère, served with red cabbage and potato salad. The red cabbage has a very interesting twist with a tad of vinegar. Every was great (only comment, our entrées could have been a little warmer, but not worth reducing the stars). Elsasser also has bretzels on the menu and they are not fat or expensive. Perfect with your beer. Christ, as a sommelier, prides himself in a fine selection of wine and he was spot on with a nice Gamay at a good price. I highly recommend this place and I wish Chris and his team all the success he deserves.
Great spot for quality German food and interesting beers. The hospitality is as good and it gets and the vibes can’t be matched. Definitely check this place out when you’re in the area.

I can’t rave about this restaurant enough. My husband and I live around the corner and feel so fortunate to have this gem so close and in such a small town. I’ve eaten at 111 many times and have never had a bad dish. Every meal is complex and elevated while somehow feeling honest and home cooked. Chris’s food is rich and hardy without ever feeling heavy while always being well balanced. Chris has a curated wine list and never fails at a stellar recommendation. The atmosphere is both casual and classy so I feel comfortable either sitting in sweats at the bar or dressing up for a date night. And to top it all off, the prices are excellent. You absolutely won’t regret choosing Elsasser’s for your next night out.
A really nice surprise in a small town, easily worth the trip. German flair food seasoned well. Just a note, pizza isn't traditional, no mozzarella cheese, and the dough is flatbread, but my wife really enjoyed the Swiss cheese and spinach. The prices were very good. The owner chatted with us and was very personable, made the meal even better. I highly recommend the beef stew, it's a special for the winter, I also recommend finding this gem.
I can’t really do justice to how special this place is. Simple and surprising… We started with a flammküchen and cocktails, then had pork schnitzel and spätzle with short rib and two glasses of wine. These two entrees were the best version of either I’ve ever had. I’m sorry to give such outlandish praise - it contradicts the simplicity and humility of the place. Our bill was $108. Worth the drive in if you’re from out of town.
Hidden gem in Greenwich. The Flammkuchen blew us away, the French wine was perfect, and the short ribs were to die for. Finished with dessert Flammkuchen. Don't skip it. Owner knows exactly what he's doing. Small town, big flavors. Highly recommend Elsasser's!
I was pleasantly surprised about the authenticity of the food. It was very delicious and good portions (not too much but not too little). A very nice atmosphere and a knowledgeable and gracious host. We will definitely come back again and try another menu item.
Last week we dined here for the first time , we were back with friends a week later!!! It was that good.....Chris, the owner is multi-talented from the kitchen to picking up an instrument playing for his patrons!!!! And then there is his personality and professionalism...just having opened another food establishment working on a third!!! Can't wait for it to open as I'm sure it's going to be just as fabulous!!! If you haven't benn yet, do yourself a favor and get there...but make a reservation as it is small and very popular
We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to this lovely German restaurant in Greenwich NY. The sauerbraten and schnitzel were fabulous along with absolutely delicious side dishes of red cabbage and spaetzle. There is a nice selection of cocktails and .prices are very reasonable. We will return soon !
A really cool, quirky spot with excellent food. The chef and server are super helpful navigating unfamiliar dishes and the menu will ensure each visit is a unique experience. They also have a nice selection of German beers.
A gem of a place. Great French wine, wonderful German food (the spaetzle is to die for). Chris, the owner, loves what he does and takes you on a journey.
Elsassers is on our repeat list - which is saying something given the preponderance of bar food in and around Saratoga. We appreciated that they continue to offer dishes from Alsace and Swabia - and have stuck with it. The flammkuchen is really hard to beat. Each time we visit we try a different topping. Paired with a salad (or have the salad as the topping), and you have a sweet meal. We love spätzel and can recommend the various types (spinach, mushroom…). Finally, the serving sizes are not overwhelming. Leaves room for beer and/or dessert!! The dining room is cozy and not too loud for conversation. It is reminiscent of dining rooms in southern Germany and eastern France. If you are dining alone, sit in the bar room and join the merriment! Staff is helpful and prices are reasonable.
Delicious, fresh and finely-prepared food from the salad to the spatzle to the meats! Excellent prices, warm atmosphere. Definitely worth the short, pretty drive from Saratoga Springs! Real German beers! Cocktails and wine, too. An extraordinary place!
Food was delicious and the service perfect. What a wonderful way to escape the crowds of Saratoga!! Authentic and unique atmosphere at the same time. The flammies are a must for an appetizer, light and so flavorful. We will be back.
When you step into this restaurant you instantly enter an atmosphere. No tv blaring, no clattering noisiness, no brashness. Atmosphere. Relaxing. Sophisticated. Cultivated milieu. Chris is instantly inviting and welcoming. His knowledge of wine is truly remarkable and his suggestions pair perfectly every time. The attentive staff is knowledgeable about the menu and are very willing to guide you if needed. The food is delicious and I can honestly say I've tried every single dish on the menu. Amazing. Every.Time. Engaging conversations occur amongst the regular patrons and it is a wonderful spirit of engagement and rapport. You can tell this is beloved place. I can't recommend this restaurant enough if you're in the area. I can't recommend this restaurant enough if you're NOT in the area. Worth the trip. Highly recommend.

this restaurant exceeds all expectations of what a talented owner can create if more of the restaurants in the area paid attention to creating innovative dishes like Chris it would make dining out the kind of experience people want to spend money on. In addition reasonable prices and attentive knowledgeable service make this a choice you will want to make in any season for any occasion
Had a great family dinner, and everything was delicious: salads, flammkuchen, and main courses. The shnitzel was good, the sauerbraten was great, and the spatzl with shortribs was out of this world. Beer and wine selection is small but good, and the service was friendly, helpful, and fun.

We brought my mother here for Mother’s Day and had a fantastic meal! From the moment we walked in the atmosphere was relaxed, and I loved the style of the restaurant. At our seats we were well taken care of by the waitress, and the owner came over to us personally to ask us about ourselves and checked in on how we were doing. The food was amazing! My mother and I had pork schnitzel which was fresh, and tasted just like my grandma used to make, and it was like she was with us on Mother’s Day, too. My fiancé had the 3 brat meal and he enjoyed his very much too. We all commented on how the potato salad and cabbage salad were so good! Thank you for the great meal and service, we will definitely be back soon for another meal!
Almost a 5 star experience for us. The staff is great and the people very friendly. Very strange entrance as it completely blacked out, and what you think is the entrance is blocked by a bench. The interior is simple but beautiful and welcoming. The food is a mixed bag. My wife had the pork schnitzel, which was excellent. The breading cracked so loudly that the table next to us commented on it. She loved the german potato salad served with it. My Sauerbraten was bland, and the gravy was very thin. The accompanying red cabbage was good and very flavorful, but it over-powered the flavor of the sauerbraten. The pumpkin spatzle tasted nothing like pumpkin, but it was enjoyable. For dessert, we shared an apple and cinnamon flammkuchen, think of a quessadilla. This was perfectly cooked, the crepe like outer layer was crispy, the apple sweet and crisp. If we're in the neighborhood, we would definitely go back. The savory flammkuchen menu looks very appealing.

The food was delicious! The atmosphere was very quaint and nice. The owner very social! The entrance was hard to find .. the door is blacked out. But once inside a pleasant time. Will definitely visit again!

Went for birthday celebration. Was expecting more Alsatian choices. Very limited menu. Food seemed pre made and heated up. Schnitzel was awful thin and dry. Spaetzle was gummy and seemed reheated. The place was absolutely filthy. A deep coating of dust on the piano, huge cobwebs all over the window areas that literally connected to the piano. I wanted to leave but my friend was treating me to lunch. I wasn’t going to write a review but here it is. Do better when you’re representing a heritage / regional food. This was not it.
