Clean restaurant and excellent service. Chicken Express tenders are always some of the best around. Get half regular and half spicy if you're not sure which one you want or just for the variety. Spicy fried pickles are awesome with ranch.

Head to Chicken Express and try their rolls and you will be hooked for life. I have always loved the chicken these guys serve up but when I stopped recently and chose a roll instead of a biscuit I was hooked! They even sell them by the dozen :) The food was hot and tasted delicious and even though there was a small line in the drive-through it did not take too long to be served.

I ASCENDED when I ate this chicken. Normal Chicken Express locations pale in comparison to the glory of this historical landmark. You will find your third eye and become enlightened by this magical food. Honestly though this location slaps and the food is always so fresh. I drove from College Station to Hillsboro Tx to help a friend who has Cancer. We stopped here because we wanted fish. 1) when we ordered we were told it would take 10 minutes because they cook it fresh when it's ordered. "That's Awesome" Didn't mind the wait 2) the pieces of fish were big and the side's were good portions *Now The Negative* Unfortunately they must cook it in the same grease as the Chicken because you could taste it. "Don't Get Me Wrong" The meal was still good and the employees were friendly. Will I go here and order the fish again.. (Yes I will) The price was great The portions are good The food was fresh The employees were friendly You can't expect more

I have been eating at Chicken Express for about 30 yrs I would take a rough guess. . Seems like it was the only place that did not have greasy chicken. And my family only ate the white meat. Along with Cole slaw and mashed potatoes. And a cold glass of ice water. Thank you Chicken Express for being a part of our family.

This place is Fire 🔥!!! This is my first time to have this brand for a chicken place. Building is clean, the people working inside we’re talking right, acting right, the food was just dang good. The line moved quickly too. I was just passing through this town, this was so good I had to pull over and eat in the car and leave a good review on em.

Was on a girls trip and of course they wouldn't stop unless we had a full meal at chicken express. Everything was good. Of course they all got the sweet dinner roll. That was their highlight for the next couple of miles.

My nickname for Chicken Express is 'The Brown Food Place' because almost every single tasty, delicious item on their menu is some shade of brown. The fried chicken is a lovely, golden light brown, as are the chicken tenders and fried catfish. The fries and fried corn nuggets are a delightful light brown as well. The biscuits and rolls? Brownalicious. Iced tea? Yup....brown. Aside from being brown, the food at Chicken Express is also delicious, plentiful and a good value. You are sure to get more than your money's worth when dining here. Get down with the brown and eat at Chicken Express! Mmmmm

Chicken is expensive. I got a thigh, a roll, corn nuggets & a tea $10.... not happy..... my daughter got on tender Tuesday family meal & it was $60. Never again

I'm a chicken gizzards lover, and this place has them. So when I have a craving for gizzards, I come here when in Hillsboro. If I'm in a rush I order to go. The employees are courteous & polite. If you like them gizzes this is the place for you!

This place is located just west of I35 at exit 368A in Hillsboro, TX. It has easy in and out access. I stopped to take a break from driving and walk around a little to get a drink. It was lunch time and the store was busy. Staff was very friendly and efficiently filled orders from the walk-in and drive-thru customers. Wait was very short.

On several occasions we have received regular chicken, instead of spicy. They almost never put cutlery in the bag, and if you want ranch, you really gotta feel it in your spirit, and check before you leave!

The gentleman that helped me at the drive-through yesterday was the most friendly and helpful Chicken Express employee I’ve encountered. Chicken wasn’t as fresh and hot as it could have been (thats our fault for eating lunch at 2:30pm). Corn nuggets were on point as usual. Great experience. Thanks!

Stopped in to grab a quick meal on my way to Waco, had the two-piece white. The wing was good The breast was very dry and taste like it had been sitting in the heat lamps for way too long. Great customer service need to revisit the times that they're holding the food.

Solid chicken tenders, spicy tenders have a good amount of spice. Corn nuggets were good. Cheap prices. I like the fish fillets at chicken express but they usually have a 10 minute wait unlike the chicken which is already prepared.

Good Chicken of course. I just think an employee needs to make their rounds outside tje front parking area and Pick up all the trash laying around. I even saw a Pair of white plastic glives laying on the sidewalk! Also why can't we Use the coupons we get for the Free Gal of Tea (which we all Love) at any Location?!? Just a lol something that wouldve made my Christmas Eve Eve Day a whole hex of a lot better Oh Well I guess.

It was okay but that was just it. Extremely long wait and then of course. the order isn't right and then you've already paid and you're back on the hiway and can't do anything about it. There's a reason the locals don't eat here and why all the other food places have double length lines and this place doesn't.

Everything was excellent. From the gravy to biscuit fries, speed, to the service. I just did not care for the way their tenders tasted.

Good food. Reasonable price. We got the 16 piece family meal with biscuits and three sides, corn nuggets, jalapeño poppers and Cole slaw. We also got a gallon of sweet tea. Service was super friendly, super fast. They did not ask for a tip as often happens at the crest Street Bush's Chicken and the local Sonics. The food was perfectly packed and perfectly delicious!

The food tasted good, but it was so greasy. Coleslaw was OK ish. French fries actually had some flavor so that was good.

The chicken tenders, gravy, green beans, rolls, and biscuits were good as expected. The fried okra was way overcooked to the point that I couldn't eat it and was saturated with cooking oil. The french fries were edible, but undercooked. We almost thought they were closed because they are either finishing or remodeling the outside. Inside was clean and had some decent wall art.

Not too impressed with the whole experience. Stopped in on a long road trip. Drive thru lady couldn't hear me and I had to yell my order a couple of times, to which they got the order wrong anyways. I also found it pretty pricey. I ordered 2 small potatoes and gravy (they are really small), fried pickles (inedible because the grease was literally dripping through the bag), a small Mac and cheese, a large coke, a small green bean (which i didnt get) and a cherry pie. It cost 18. If passing through, I'll chose differently next time.

Okay, overall 3 stars. The food is so good, but you pay for it 4 hours later. I don’t understand what is in it, I can go to another chicken place downtown and my body won’t react this way, but every time I go here I always end up hunching over a toilet holding on for dear life. I love love love their sweet tea though, $1 for a large??? HELL YEAH!! Every-time I come here everyone is nice. The food is good, but maybe don’t get anything spicy, I can’t help it though it’s good 💀

Granted they were very busy, it was still SUPER slow. We asked what they had hot and ready that we could just grab and ordered that. Then we waited 30 minutes to get it.

Took forever to get food and not very busy, okra and chicken were Luke warm. No rolls and biscuits were dry and hard.

Very dissapointed. The breading was half cooked and the fries were tasteless. However the biscuits were still good.

The food is pretty good but they have bad customer service. Every time I have visited this facility, I always feel like I am bothering them by ordering a meal. You can tell that most of the employees really dislike their job.

Food tastes great, do not go throught the drive through last 3 times I've went it's been someone else's order. Ordered 4 spicy tenders and poppers and was given 2 tendeed and okra.

The only reason I am giving this two stars is for the sweet Drive-thru staff. The food was terrible. I rarely give this type of review, however, $22 for two meals that we couldn't eat was noteworthy. The livers were as dry and crumbled- way overcooked. The mashed potatoes with gravy on both meals was so salty, even our salt loving kiddo couldn't eat it. Hubby said the spicy tenders were pretty good, but the gravy was cold and clumpy. All of this after we waited 10 minutes for the liver to be cooked "fresh". Perhaps a bad day- the door said that they were closed inside due to lack of staff, so perhaps that was the reason behind the poor food quality.

Tenders are small and overcooked. Do not order the hot wings, they are not the same as a couple years ago, the new ones are worse than the cheapos you get from the freezer section. Fries are still really good, the only star they got from me.

I've been here plenty of times before 3 o'clock and the food was outstanding, but today was the worst and grosses two dried out thighs and greasy okra. The foods been sitting all day under a heat lamp. And the Senorita seemed so nice but Food she gave was trash

If we weren’t trying to get to our destination before dark I would’ve gone back. I ordered the pickles to try instead of fries. When she brought me the bag I asked did she get the pickles and she said yes. No, there were no pickles in my bag. And if you can’t tell the difference between the gizzards and livers maybe have the guy cooking not dump both in the same basket at the same time. Seriously disappointed.

Last night I ordered a chicken breast,fries and a roll,The chicken breast was cold and very dry,it hurt my tooth,barely any meat on it,, $10 an hour 🤔🙄🤢,This updated review is 10/19/24,,My meal was ok,chicken strips,okra and pickles, My hubby had 3 thighs,and they were all dried out,and had been sitting under the heat lamp no telling how long, 100's of pieces of chicken ,They need to figure out how to do that a different way,it was empty when we went in,$30 for old chicken!!!

This place is having a hard time getting orders right these days I'm done making 2 trips to get food and coming home eat reheated leftovers and spend twice the gas too.

We went thru the drive thru and ordered a couple of family sides and rolls. The mashed potatoes and gravy and rolls were ok except we were short one roll. The mac & cheese was horrible however as half of the container was water and it had no taste. This isn't the first time this has happened. I tried to call several times but there was no answer. Next time we'll go to Golden Chick.

Absolutely awful waited 20 minutes for my order to be taken and waited even longer for my already made chicken. The chicken was so salty it burnt my tounge. You couldn't get the salt taste out of your mouth to eat any of the other food. Do not recommend!!!!

There is a good reason why they have terrible service. It is because they threaten people with ridiculous accusations just for walking in the establishment and serve the worst undercooked food in the area. Their attitides stink to high heavens and the multitude of flies inside buzzing your face as you walk to the counter is frightening. These people are terrible, evil and sick. Authorities need to close this place down!

Went through the drive thru and Ordered a number 1 which is just 4 tenders with a drink. Was told to pull up and they will bring my order to me. 30 minutes later, my husband walks in and the same person that took our order is sitting down eating. Stacks of orders sitting at the counter with no intentions of being brought out to people. Another lady walked in behind my husband who ordered before us just as frustrated as we were. Terrible service! I not only review but I report establishments too! Look forward to speak with someone about this soon.

My daughter had brought home some spicy tenders the other day they were pretty good so I thought I’d go try some. Well to say the least they were under the heat lamp way too long and Way too dry. I would’ve gone directly back but I am sick can I had low for kids back up in the car to go back and return this and I just didn’t do it I need it but I will never to get do it again that was the worst. I have been in service Andrews Street for many years and I’ve never ever said anything like that to anyone that was the manager of mistake I believe if that’s your policy then I damn sure don’t want none.

Found out that when they drop food they put it back in the tubs after being on the greasy floor. Saw roaches in the bathroom, lower part of the wall and ad I was making an order. Floor in kitchen looks filthy and food was horrible in general. Got food poisoning when I ate here and definitely will not be coming back.

Took them over an hour to get our order. People that ordered long after us got their food way before we did. Messed up our order several times. Came to our window and asked what our order was several times. They still messed up our order and forgot the total of the bill. If you go here prepare for an hour to an hour half wait and your order to be wrong.

I have never seen such a disorganized restaurant in my entire life. It’s honestly hard to put into words on how to describe how awful this place was ran. And there’s no doubt there won’t be anything done about it. Just a few examples to get an idea of what’s going on, The bathrooms were not clean, the trash was stacked full to the brim. The staff was rude to each other and very chaotic. Seemed like there was no urgency to get orders out. Long waits on both in side and drive thru seen multiple messed up orders including Mine, The inexperienced employee working the front just assumed my girlfriend spoke Spanish based of the color of her skin. Not happy at all. This place is in need of stronger management.

I should have read the reviews from other customers of this Chicken Express before becoming just another disappointed customer myself. I have ordered from this place previously, and found it to be expensive for the small, overcooked chicken pieces they serve, along with employees that are never friendly at all, but it is convenient to IH-35 on the way to Dallas from Austin, so I have stopped here several times over the last couple years. I have always asked for a small cup of ice water with my order, and it has never been a problem. When I placed the same order tonight in the drive-thru, the order taker told me that due to the pandemic, she would have to charge me for a cup of water. I asked what the pandemic has to do with the price of a cup of water now, especially since it has never been a problem with orders placed previously over the last few months of the pandemic. At that point, the other female employee, whom I assume was the manager, got on the speaker and began to rudely lecture me about their policy and that I could not get a large water without ordering food. I proceeded to tell her that I DID ORDER FOOD, and all I asked for was a small cup of water along with my order. I quickly realized that she was not at all interested in keeping me as a customer, and it was more important for her to ruin my evening over a cup of water that probably costs them no more than 3 cents. I will never understand why businesses spend millions of dollars in advertising to bring in customers, only to hire the worst employees (like these ladies) to run off the same hard-earned customers by just having a bad attitude. I would recommend to anyone to avoid this place and simply go right next door to enjoy the huge, hot & fresh burgers or chicken strips & gravy with Texas toast at the Whataburger that is even closer to the highway. I did, and they were very accommodating to serve me a large cup of ice water at no charge! Adios Chicken Express!

The food is disgusting. I have eaten here before and not had a problem so I decided to come here to get dinner since it is closer than other stores. I paid $50 for my family's meal. The chicken was refried and tasted hard and nasty. The mashed potatoes were sour and bad. Its ridiculous to pay that much for food for it to be inedible.

Waited 20+ minutes in the drive thru for 2 meals. They gave the car behind us a bunch of food, definitely more than we had ordered, before us. Mashed potatoes were 90% gravy. There was no acknowledgment of the long wait by the staff either. I mean if you're behind or understaffed at least warn us so we know it will be a long time

Went through drive an ordered 20 tender meal an added a side 2 jalapeños an 2 sweet teas. Got to window charged me for 4 teas. Got home my order was very bad. Fries very old rolls are hard enough to break a tooth. Chicken was dry an old grease very much needed to be changed. I spend over 50 dollars....yes I called an complained. So then when the next visit a few days later to get my order replaced manager said the employee wrote my name down for replacement. But then manager ask me where is the old food from days before. She said I had to bring food back to them even if I have to freeze it no matter the days. I will never go spend my money at the location agine. Customer Service is horrible as if I was lying about my order.

I bought 2 4 tender express meals and 1 7 tender express meal. The 2 were for my kids and the 7 for myself. To my surprise my kids had more chicken than I did!! 3 of the kids tenders contained more chicken than all of the 7 nuggets I received. Disappointed doesn’t describe how I feel after a $35.26 ripoff.

It was the worst service I've had in a while. 1 grandkid wanted here, and the other Sonic. I wasted 30 minutes for 1 meal. I'll never do that here again. And if the person I was talking to really was the manager, she should get into a different profession. No customer service or curiosity was given. I do not believe that a customer is always right, but when you make a mistake, own it. Especially when it would cost you less than a dollar to correct it and keep me coming back and spending more money. That, in the long run, betters your income and success.

I had ordered 2 breasts and this is how it went. First Food looked horrible and as entcipated tasted horrible. One of the breasts was burn and the other was sloppily breaded. Very dry and awful,, worst chicken I've tasted. They were definitely sat our under the headlamp way too long. I will not be ordering from this establishment ever again. They were poorly prepared and I am disappointed.

What’s going on at this chicken express? This is the worst location I’ve ever eaten at every time. I go there. The spicy chicken strips seem like they chose. The worst cuts that are mostly tendon to make the spicy pieces. Do they leave all their product that comes in from delivery out because every time I go there they’re pounding on the packages of sides because they’re all froze together. I had to spit out my corn nuggets because they were rancid.

Very dirty. Unfriendly. Wanted to charge me for a packet of honey to go with my ultra flat biscuit! Biscuit was flat I mean flat! Worst service. So dirty! Bathrooms were disgusting! Never will stop here traveling again. Lesson learned!

This is the worst Chicken Express I've ever encountered. Honestly. The service was good and friendly but that's where the good ended. Chicken Express sweet tea is a Texas thing and has always been the best out there at every single location I've ever visited except this one. The tea was lightly sweetened water that tasted like cardboard. I ordered two three piece fish dinners, one with okra and fried pickles and the other with okra and mashed potatoes to go. No potatoes. Might be for the best though. The okra was way overcooked and tasteless. The fried pickles were soggy. The fish was fresh and extremely hot but also overcooked. EVERYTHING was so salty it was close to inedible. Not sure what is wrong with this location but it's definitely scrapping the bottom of the barrel. The total bill was just shy of $40 and not worth 25% of that! I won't be back and cannot recommend anyone else wasting their hard earned money there either. No wonder they were empty during lunch rush.

They forgot my fries. It’s on my receipt and I noticed it when I got back to the field 20 minutes away. I shouldn’t have to double check my order every time I go here. The lady also sighed and acted like it was a big deal when I asked for more than 2 serendipity salts for my overpriced combo meal. And as I said, they couldn’t even get that right. So in general, overpriced food with terrible customer service. This used to be my favorite fast food treat but I can’t stand it anymore. Good luck and check your order if you go here

Disappointed with this location I spent 60 dollars in the store purchased a gallon of tea and they charged me for the cups talk about a money hungry manager, every other location I've been to gave me free cups and not to mention the they didn't even tell us they charge for the cups.

Family passed through From DFW, we stopped here around 9:20pm. Restaurant closes at 10pm on Saturday. They gave us an ugly look when we walked in and when we tried to order refused to make chicken tenders for our family of four. Only 2 of our kids ate that evening. I had to cancel my order, my wife changed her order to accommodate their lack of tenders, and they still messed it up. The mens bathroom was closed, with a bucket placed on toilet and trash cover on sink. Not professional at all. There were cars in a line outside when we pulled up, lord knows what they told them to avoid serving them. If profits are lagging look no further than your Saturday evening crew.

Can I leave zero stars? We have had mixed experiences with this establishment for years but tonight wins the award for the worst. The most unprofessional, rude, and just lazy “workers”. Wouldn’t take our order correctly - kept interrupting asking “what else” but never confirmed to ask what we wanted with each menu item (ex. Spicy/regular tenders, biscuit/role, what side, drink) …. When when we asked if she wanted to know what we wanted with said menu item she still interrupted and said “what else”. Given the cost of “eating out” regardless of it being fast food or a restaurant this is not a place worth spending your money.

My first experience I waited in the drive through 15. Minutes its been a while since I've been here. And thought i'd give it another try. And this time my food was overcooked I will not go here again. The glob of mashed Mac and cheese just did it.. My Chicken and hush puppies seem to be more on the dark/ extra Crispy side I then call and let them be aware of my food. And the manager responded, saying that the grease Probably needed to be changed out. I'm very disappointed because ultimately There aren't many places here in Hillsboro And it would be nice to have a decent chicken place.

Worst experience ever!!! Took 30 mins to get an individual serving of mashed potatoes. Paid $2.15 and then had to pay $1.07 more for extra gravy because they said that's all they put on the potatoes.
