Really wonderful Salvadorian food in this cozy cafe. We sampled the pupusas (come in sets of 3) and their signature beef stew (Carne Guisada) and everything was so delicious!

First time trying Salvador food. Great find. Small excellent place to grab a bite to eat. I had chicken, chorizo, and cheese pupusas. Everything is made to order. I have never got food served so hot. It stayed hot the whole time I was eating. Will return to try something else. Very reasonably priced.

Best authentic food in town. Fresh fresh fresh with flavor not some red and brown sauces that cover the so called authentic food at other Hispanic restaurants. I can't exactly pronounce all the options but I love the three tacos plate. Great homemade desserts too. The food far exceeds the looks of the place. Great quality at a reasonable price.

The food was delicious and all the staff members were really nice. My family tried some pupusas, tacos, and pastelitos. My favorite pupusa was the revuelta: shredded pork, beans, and cheese. The flan was spectacular!! 😋🤌 Looking forward to trying more entrees and desserts in the future! *Updated to add pictures of the menu from my last visit (1/19/25), as I haven't been able to find the complete menu online. Also included a picture of my pupusas revueltas, yuca fries, and Salvadoran sauerkraut from my last visit as well.

This is my little getaway after a hard day. I love the authentic food and relaxed atmosphere. The staff are kind and pretend to be impressed by my terrible Spanish.

Looking for wholesome, quaint, and nutritious with amazing options and delicious coffee? Look no further! I love the menu, Owner is friendly and welcoming! Coffee is crafted with care and a thermos is included to refill your own mug, coffee was smooth and delicious! Breakfast Menu was appetizing and written in both English and Spanish! Very satisfied; highly recommend!

Remember to order at the counter before sitting down. I made the mistake of sitting down first and realized no one was coming to take my order. I placed my order, sat down and the food was out in about 10 minutes. I ordered a breakfast biscuit and chicken pupusas. Everything was great and hot and the staff was perfect. I will be back.

We had pupusas and a gordita. The food was awesome. The service was great and the place was very clean. The baked goods looked amazing, even though we didn't have any this time.

My accurate rating is 4.5. We had two papusas and enjoyed trying them although there are other items that look better. The roasted corn was delicious and the service is friendly. Finished with a thick, creamy flan.

Very worth the 20 min drive from Durham. Good prices and a reasonable wait time. The chilaquiles and pupusas (not pictured) were excellent, but the real standout for me was the breakfast burrito. The perfect breakfast burrito recipe, imo, has eggs, potatoes, black beans, cheese, an optional protein, and fresh Pico + salsa on the side. Too many places around the Triangle miss an ingredient or two, but Samantha's pupusas absolutely nailed it and cooked it well.

The food was delicious. We had pupusa, fried yuca, plantains, jalapeno biscuits, and whoppers. Everything was prepared fresh and hot. The green sauce, and red sauce were perfect. If you're in town and have a craving for fresh, hot, delicious central American food this is the place to go!

C

This place is amazing. The food is out of this world good. Fresh and made with care. The pupusa was really tasty and the al pastor taco was overflowing with flavor. My only regret is that I didn't try more of the baked goods. They looked amazing. I will definitely be returning here soon.

I drive from Greensboro once a month to eat here. The food is amazing! The desserts are delicious. The service is awesome. The food is cooked to order, so please don’t stop if you are pushed for time. It is always worth the wait.

We stumbeled upon this little gem while needing a quick snack on our way home. It was absolutely incredible. There are so many dishes available. I found their chicken tinga tacos and the chicken tamal to be the best. The customer service was great, food delicious, and the prices are more than reasonable.

Best pupusas in Orange County! I have been going here for years and I love everything about this place. They have a great variety of food, sweets, and snacks. I highly recommend a pupusa revuelta and the chicken tamales!

Been here several times and hope to come back a thousand more times. Samantha’s has so many great offerings in the menu from of course pupusa to cakes and desserts. You can call ahead or order there and dine in. For custom cakes I think they want it a day or so in advance Anyway get the pulida and definitely the slaw and hot sauce to go with it

C

Samantha's Pupusas is my new favorite place to eat. The food is always delicious, the baked goods are perfect, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The inside is a little small, but it is packed with variety. You can tell this is a family business and you can taste that the food was made with love. I can't recommend this place enough. 11/10

We stop in every time we’re headed up 86 or 57. Even if you had to wait 45 minutes (which you definitely don’t) this would be WORTH IT. these are huge and a great price. Get the hot sauce and slaw and put it on top of a pupusa it is DELICIOUS sabroso. They also take orders for cakes and pies and such. Great for parties. It’s a small quaint place and really cool. Don’t worry they speak English and are super nice. It’s easy to get in and out. 10/10

I love Samantha's Pupusas! Everything is delicious and the staff and owners are so friendly. I've been coming here at least a year. They've made some nice updates to the restaurant since my first visit. I recommend either the black bean pupusa with fried yucca or the Salvadorean Breakfast (both vegetarian options). You really can't go wrong with any menu option though. Their cakes, cookies, and banana pudding are all amazing too. Definitely give it a try if you haven't!

Super friendly staff, excellent food, and the bakery has a wide variety of great sweets. Haven't had anything here that wasn't a 5/5. Can't wait to try everything on the menu.

Had a great time! The food was amazing, and even thought one papasu came out as the wrong type, they were quick to get us our correct order. The plantains were delicious and my mother won’t stop talking about them. Definitely going back.

absolutely some of the best food I've ever had and some of the friendliest staff I've ever met! Their pupusas are so delicious but I really want to highlight how incredible all of their baked goods are. I no longer live in Hillsborough but I always make the drive over to Samantha's to pick up a chocolate peanut butter pie for my mom's birthday. This place is a must try!

This place is great. The food is good and affordable. They remodeled the space and it has a nice seating area now. 2023 UPDATE: Google wants me to update so here it is: Samantha's is still the bomb. Had the gorditas for the first time tonight. Very tasty. The proprietors are really nice people too.

Freshest food ever with the kindest service. Fresh, non oily pupusas, tacos with handmade tortillas, best fried yucca I have ever eaten. And the cakes. Oh my! Towering high in multiple colors and flavors. There's outdoor seating (we even stayed under the umbrella as the rain started) and indoor booths. I only wish they opened another closer to my home!

Samantha's Pupusas has put in the effort to make their takeout pick-up as safe as possible during the pandemic. Their food is excellent, and it's certainly on our list of favorite take-away restaurants. We like to order a variety of their menu items, and enjoy it for a couple days in a row. Call ahead and treat yourself to a delicious meal, and be sure to include a few Pupusas in your order! Also check out their delicious dessert items.

C

I absolutely LOVE Samantha’s! The food is great, customer service is great! My go to place for sure! My only wish is they would use DoorDash because GrubHub is always late or they have no one to deliver and I order a ton for delivery since I cannot leave my place of work. Other than that, I have no bad review to give!

Be aware, despite my 5 star rating, this is NOT a fancy restaurant. It's a dingy little place with great food, big portions, and great prices. The people behind the counter are also super friendly(it's family owned). The secret I'm hesitant to share is that they have the best key lime pie in the triangle. If you want to pick up a key lime pie, call ahead. They're inexpensive and sadly, people are catching on, so sometimes they sell out. Hard to go wrong with Samantha's Pupusas if you're super hungry and don't feel like cooking!

L
Lilichka Schwartz

There is no one better then them! Where ever you are coming from, pay a visit to this friendly, clean and very tasty place. They go above and beyond in every aspect. We had been there 10+ times, and not a single time disappointment with anything! If you don’t eat the fermented cabbage (spicy!) use it for adding it to your soups, it adds phenomenal touch! And their flan is one to die for! Absolutely the best!

Yes Samantha’s has great pupusas and incredible breakfast BUT you have to come here for the baked goods. Their cakes, pies, and cookies are out of this world! Very reasonable price wise. It’s like 4 dollars and some change for a slice of cake which is huge! I love their breakfast burrito too but everything on the menu is great. Their crew is always so helpful and awesome to talk with! Go check them out!

Delicious fresh food here! Chicken and steak fajitas plates tonight. We are pleased with the meals and desserts to choose from here.

J

It's tempting to give this place a lower rating because their menu is so schizophrenic, but the food quality is THAT good. It can make up for anything. Peruse the menu at home and arrive with a plan, and you will have a fantastic experience.

Nice place where you can get authentic Salvadorian and Mexican food with ingredients hard to find like "flor de calabaza" , "huitlacoche" and "loroco" with the authentic home flavor. Pupusas are highly recommended, but is hard to have a favorite dish, since everything is delicious. The crew is really nice and always ready to help you.

The pupusa revuelta is outstanding, I ate 3 on an empty stomach. They cook to order so be patient, and when the pupusas come out definitely give it a minute to cool down. I have to give Samantha's Pupusas 5 stars, this was my first time having Salvadoran cuisine, I surely will come back!

Delicious! Great aguas frescas as well. Try the garlic papusa (just not on a date). Very casual place with most seating outside at picnic tables. Lots of people frequent as a to-go joint

As of 6/1/2018, a very thoughtful remodel to open up the dining room and upgrade the menu. Worth a detour, the food is outstanding. Try the torta cubana and the pupusa with loroco flower.

I wish I could give this place a million stars. Everything I’ve ever had on the menu is good. Great bakery too. They have been adding to the outside seating behind the restaurant and it’s really charming and nice to eat out there.

K

Absolutely incredible and nearly perfect as a lunch spot for a long drive, it's small but mighty in it's menu options with almost every desert and pie you could possibly think of and outstanding authentic food, the pupusas are incredible and rather cheap, would absolutely love to come here again.

This is a top notch Hillsborough restaurant. The Pupusas are so yummy and I got the fried chicken for my daughter and it was actually really, really good too. We eat here a bunch, they also do fantastic cakes. Definitely worth trying out if you're unfamiliar with El Salvadorian food, and also if you are 😊 Food can be a little slow to come out. There's parking right outside and both indoor and outdoor seating.

It doesnt look like much from the outside but don’t pass this place up. The pupusas are the same as the ones I’d always order living in Nicaragua and the tacos with there homemade tortillas are amazing. Try the Campechanas/steak and chorizo ones! The yucca fries are also great. They have delicious, quick, reasonably priced food.

K

Highly recommend trying this place. We love the variety of pupusas they offer. Some of our favorites are the black bean, garlic and chicken. We noticed this time that they also have a wide offering of bakery items; cakes, cookies and pies. We plan to place an order for cakes and pies over the coming holidays. Perfect items to bring to a family member during the holiday season. We can't wait to go back and try some other items on their menu. They are always extremely friendly and make the experience dining there a great one.

This place was a delicious surprise. My wife and I were staying with family up the street and tried Samantha’s out for breakfast. It’s an unassuming storefront on a nondescript street corner sort of out in the middle of nowhere. The inside was small and clean. The counters are tall and covered with placards of the special dish for the month, and there are tasty-looking cakes and cookies and scones in the display cases beneath. The staff is friendly and polite. We had the Salvadoran huevos rancheros, which was a huge dish of eggs, salsa, beans, a papusa (like a hearty thick tortilla), and a full wedge of queso fresco (like feta cheese) that looked like a tiny cheesecake. It was delicious and filling. We also had the migas tacos. The eggs were well cooked (not overcooked), and they included potatoes in the migas, which is genius. The tortillas were thick and flavorful and clearly fresh. So we came back for lunch. The second time, we had papusas, which come in threes. I had the mushroom, the jalapeño, and the garlic (I’m vegetarian), and my wife had the pork, the zucchini, and the shrimp. They were served with a simple cole slaw, black beans, and salsas. Their red salsa is very spicy but it’s worth the burn: smokey and delicious. The green is also great, less spicy but interesting. They also have a tomato sauce, which tastes like El Pato and brought me right back to my childhood in southern Arizona; IYKYK. Mrs. loved the pork and the zucchini papusas, and the shrimp would have been perfect if it wasn’t oversalted; she thinks they maybe forgot to salt the zucchini and double salted the shrimp by mistake. The mushroom papusa was rich and flavorful and paired well with both the red and tomato sauces. The fresh jalapeño tasted just like roasted Hatch green chilis with the red sauce. The garlic was overpowered by the sauces but was fantastic on its own—garlicky and buttery and delicious; it was my favorite. All of them had just the right amount of gooey cheese. The papusas themselves were excellent: slightly crispy on the edges, warm and mealy in the center, hearty without being heavy. We’ll absolutely be back. Oh, and we tried some baked goods because c’mon. The coconut macaroon was crispy outside and soft inside and tasted slightly caramelized—wonderful.

Great food! They need a bigger place because this food is authentic and very flavorful, it will get more popular! I didnt like my cake, it was dry and frosting wasnt sweet. Pies are great and cookies. They also have breakfast!

We discovered this place a few months ago. What a great find! We have tried the papusas, tacos, burritos, beef short rib soup, and even a chocolate cake. Everything is excellent. The Short rib soup was amazing, and the choc cake was one of the best we’ve had.

Great food. Homemade, fresh tortillas and pupusas were delicious. The chicken tamales were also great. Got four different cakes. All were delicious but the Boston cream pie cake was my favorite. The servers were friendly and very nice. We’ll definitely be back.

B

Absolutely terrific! The food is fresh, authentic, and delicious. We shared guacamole and salsa with chips. The salsa was delicious and the guacamole was wonderful. We shared three pupusas: chicken, shrimp, and mushroom. They bring out three sauces out to try with pupusas. The green sauce is tangy and mild, the red sauce in clear bottle is very good, tomato-y. The one in the red bottle has the heat. Everything we ate was just fantastic. They have a small indoor dining area, several tables outside with umbrellas. You order inside at the counter and they bring your food to you. The service is top notch. Everyone working here was so friendly and helpful. You may encounter a wait time and it will be worth it. They also have beautiful cakes, pies, cookies and scones available for purchase.

All I have to say is wow. Its been over a week since trying the papusas here and I’m still talking about them. These were the best things that I have ever eaten. If I was a NC local, I would be here everyday. I can’t wait to visit again because I will certainly be coming back.

As a local, it's one of the best places to eat in Hillsborough at any time. Fruit juices, delicious food variety (get the Pupusas!), Bakery (tiramisu!), and on weekends they got tamales! Great portions and prices. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming staff. Genuinely come here even if it's just for a slice of tiramisu and a juice during a lunch break! Always new things on display to try. Love it. Saludos desde República Dominicana 🇩🇴

We were on a road trip and decided to exit off the interstate to try this place as we love El Salvadorian food. Keep in mind, this is NOT a fast food joint. We had to wait, and wait. But the food was absolutely worth it. OMG it was to die for! We had chicken pupusas, black bean pupusas, cheese pupusas, chicken tacos and fried plantain. When we are in the area, we will return to Samantha's Pupusas. Defintiely worth the wait!

K

I’ve never had a bad item at Samantha’s pupusa’s. Everything is made to order so if you have dietary issues or allergies they are great about making those changes for you or letting you know what’s in it. I am one of those people that likes to try different items when I go to the same restaurant and I truly have enjoyed everything I’ve tried. I love the pupusa‘s and they have good breakfasts as well. If you are into desserts this is also the place for you! They have a huge dessert menu that changes but they will have some items that they have every day. Definitely recommend! It is not the biggest restaurant inside just a few tables but has more seating outside.

K

Samantha’s is amazing! In addition to the pupusas they also have delicious baked goods. We ordered the strawberry tres leches cake for a birthday, and it is my new favorite cake ever. The people that work there are always very nice. Highly recommend!

Absolutely incredible pepusas. They are massive, filling me up with just 2… I’m a pretty big and hungry dude. The sauce they provide, which is spicy, adds a lot of flavour to the food. Staff is also very friendly. Highly recommend.

Just got done eating here. We stopped and ate here for the first time on the way home from a trip. We had tacos and pupusas. Everything tasted so good! Highly recommend the Al Pastor with pineapple and the Tinga tacos. It had so much flavor. The pupusas are handmade to order and both the Chorizo and Camaron pupusas were an unexpected treat. The resturant is very small. There is not a lot of seating. They have daily made sweets in there show case and everything looks delicious. We ordered some treats to go and will have later at home but I have no doubt the desserts are going to be just as delicious as the food was.

Stopped by Samantha's after getting a sandwich at a local market down the street... That was so skimpy for $12 I had to eat again. This place is amazing! Sooo fresh and delicious. The staff are super nice and having a good time. Don't miss this place if you like Latin food. The roasted mushroom gordita was by far the best I have ever had. Keep up the great work!

This is a small and intimate mom and pops place which is easy to overlook if you're not paying attention. It doesn't scream at you but those who know, know. They visit and return again. Everything was smooth. The other process was easy. The selection was good, though I kept it simple with 3 pork tacos all the way. I usually avoid anything pork these days but a co-worker insisted on not ordering the chicken ones. I wasn't disappointed. The servers were friendly and brought out the food after about 15 minutes. The portions were ample perhaps more than what you need for a lunch break, but no complaints here. The taste was delicious! Also the drink selection is excellent. I chose the purple fountain drink which is the best. Forgive me as I can't remember what they call it. It's very similar to the one they serve at Alpaca in Raleigh. Either way we scored big on this lunch meal. I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area. Beware that seating is limited if you want to dine in as it's a very small restaurant.

What an unexpected find at the outskirts of little Hillsborough, offering a large and truly authentic Salvadorian/South American/Mexican menu. It is a tiny little restaurant that probably seats ~ 20 people inside, along with picnic tables outside. We have seen it mobbed at times so we knew it was good. It just took a weeknight to catch them when it was not crowded to give it a try. We both tried a sampling of their 3 pupusas combination dinner plus the chips/salsa/guacamole appetizer. The chips were so fresh and hot we couldn't eat them immediately. Guacamole was freshly made and a delight. The pupusas were hot and yummy. We both thought the mushroom one shone out of the 5 we tried. He also had a beef taco which he said was very good. We brought home half our dinner and the appetizer. The menu is extensive!!! We'll be back to try quesadillas, burritos and fajitas. We also will come back to try their breakfast offerings. There are not too many locations around Hillsborough that offer a fresh breakfast so it is exciting to learn they do. They also have a bakery corner with some amazing scone, cake and pie offerings but we were too full to even think about it. Will definitely return

When I travel, I try to always support local business owners, and Samantha's very deserving. The resturant is very small, less of a resturant, and more like a deli and bakery. Had the chorizo and a chicken taco, and chorizio Pupusas, which I'd never heard of. You order All arrived within 5 min and were very good. The tacos are street style, home made white corn torlillias, the chorizio had lots of meat, full of flavor. The chicken taco was stewed chicken, though not my favorite, it was flavorful. And the Pupusas was delightful as well. As for service, servers were very accomodating. Total cost, and well worth it, including a Topo Cinco water = $18.

The food here is outstanding. The papusas were great. Very fresh. With three of us dining, we were able to try ever variety they offer. Papusas are served three to an order. The tasty slaw that came with them was not overpowering like some places make it. Green and red hot sauces were on the table if you prefer it spicier. We were there on a Sunday about noon and it was very busy. The restaurant has limited indoor seating. The food took quite awhile to come after ordering. They apparently give priority to take out. We saw many orders being picked up while we waited for our food to come out of the kitchen. But I will say, it was worth the wait.

Food is ALWAYS super fresh people are friendly... Great place

This was our first time there… we got take out, which isn’t usually the best way to tell how well you like a place or it’s food. My daughter got a chipotle chicken gordita and said it was very good. I had 3 steak tacos for $10… they were decent. Not amazing but not bad either. A side of rice and beans was $6… none of us cared for their style of beans nor rice, but that’s just personal preference. Dining in is limited seating and honestly, it looks kind of drab and unkept but it could had just been the night we stopped in. Staff seemed friendly enough though and it looks like they make a lot of pastries and treats for those of y’all with a sweet tooth. We tried their strawberry sauce topped tres Leche, very good. It was quite a bit “wetter” than most tres leche cakes I’ve tried, for those of you put off by it. It’s conveniently located on hwy 70 which is how we found it on our way back to Graham from Durham.

I thought it was good but maybe not as phenomenal as some of the reviews. I had a combination of three papusas and all of them were nice but maybe not the best ever. In particular, I like a little more char/burnt cheese on them. The fillings again were nice and they had a great variety.

The jalapeño cheddar biscuit looked great, but unfurtunately lacked the structural integrity required for a breakfast sandwich. I got one bite in before it disintegrated and I finished the remainder with a fork. A bit dry, the biscuit would probably work well if smothered in gravy but it just doesn't work for a breakfast sandwich - I'm glad I had it to stay, trying to eat it on the go would have been a disaster.

Potentially interesting, but frankly some items (Cuban Sandwich, old Coconut Cake) were not great. The pupusas and flan were ok. Nice outdoor seating.

I was very excited to finally try this place. Very disappointed Food to me did not have much flavor at all The thing that made it level up was the green sauce but that's all the flavor I got and that was half way through. It just was not good the black beans had no flavor nor the rice or chicken. I got 2 pieces of cake to take home coconut and black and white cake. Cream cheese frosting doesn't go on coconut cake if that's what it was.....and the black and white had NO chocolate flavor or any flavor at all.... And they both were so so dry...... I am so confused...... The young lady taking order was pleasant that's why I gave 2 stars. I really wanted thus to be good it just wasn't.

Restaurant was loud and food not so great. Friend and I bought some jalapeño biscuits and they just tasted like dry bread. Bought a few slices of their peanutbutter chocolate cake only to find out it was moldy once i got home. Disgusting. Highly don't recommend.

😤 / I order a orchata and I told them it was way too sweet .. so I exchange it for a Jamaica juice in the end I was charged for two drinks I didn’t drink the other drink but the young guy was arguing that I order it ! I was so mad but oh well . Won’t ever come back to this place . Also the food is way too expensive for the little portions they serve

Imagina entrar a Samantha's Pupusas.
