Best menudo I’ve ever had. Excellent! Wonderful hangover cure. Place was full around 1130 AM on a Sunday. Was so good, that after a siesta I came back later that day and did takeout for chile rellenos which was also great. Couldn’t snag a pic of tamales because I ate them so fast.
Three corn enchiladas with chile Verde (pork). Very tasty! Would come back again.
The BEST and I mean absolute BEST chille rellenos I've had since my mom made them last. It's what I order 95% of the time whenever I eat any Mexican food. If it's not on the menu, I'm not eating there. However, I was very much impressed by their presentation and most importantly the flavor. Truly authentic, homemade and obviously with lots of love. They actually roast the peppers instead of boiling them (lazy). I'll be sure to pass by this place in the next time I'm in Hollister, California. Service was great. Friendly staff and a clean establishment. Salsa was also fantastic!
THE BEST ENCHILADAS I have EVER eaten! Dead serious! I have eaten cheese enchiladas all over the United States and I have now eaten these enchiladas twice. I absolutely love them! The secret? The diabla sauce. I am serious. You MUST try it. They do offer the diabla sauce on a series of dishes though. This is that hole in the wall, tucked away restaurant that you have been searching for. I will leave this on two words: DIABLA SAUCE, PLEASE!
The food is delicious!! The atmosphere is great and fun. The workers are always welcoming and very helpful. Would definitely recommend to anyone. I got the fried tilapia which is fresh and mighty delicious!
I ordered a Chile Verde dinner take out meal for my father in the skilled nursing facility. He really enjoyed his meal. I asked the server to leave out the rice, and add more beans instead( dad's favorite), and with tortillas....heaven

This is an amazing restaurant! The food was delicious and our waitress was incredibly helpful and accommodating. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.
V.D.J. has always been a great experience throughout the years. I went there with freinds this thurs then again with family this fri. I recommend this fine establishment to all who are seeking great food.
Shredded beef enchiladas with green sauce was awesome. My new favorite! Tried the ground beef, but the shredded beef was the winner! The fajitas are always a good option too.
Food was amazing staff was awesome. My waitress was on it, she was so awesome and very polite will be going back here again
Very nice waiters very delicious food and a great atmospher. The waiters always checked on us and had a great time.
This Mexican restaurant is a little off the beaten path, but a well known local favorite! Good portions for the price and quick service. They have sopes which are sometimes hard to find.
Amazing authentic food, huge portion and friendly service. Also free chips and salsa. I was digging it!
Best place for 50 miles around for Menudo!! And don’t forget the homemade corn tortillas!!
Delicious food, home made tortillas, big portions, good service. I left satisfied and full.
Love the atmosphere of this place, food is wonderful, I recommend the wet green chili burrito, service is fast and friendly 😊 muy delicioso
The BEST chile relleno around! Authentic Mexican food serving Menudo on weekends and awesome hot freshly homemade corn tortillas every day!
We stoped on our way back from Pinnacals park. fantastic food and service. The fajitas were nice size portions, fresh and delicious.
Excellent meat dish not to spicy just right. Good portions for a fair price
Had the menudo. , it was very good so were the tortillas , I would definitely go again .
Great family restaurant , we did the take out meals, yes we will return again food a meal.
Love it. Hooked on their chili rellanos. Only one thing that bothers me is they don't make pozole enough. Every weekend they make menudo.
This is a family favorite. We are regulars here. They offer outstanding service, delicious food and a family friendly atmosphere. A+++++!
Great food, super service. Loved our waitress. She was friendly, helpful and very accommodating. Will definitely be back!
Went on a Sunday n Very busy place..many people..we waited for abt 15 minutes before sitted..Had Menudo n it was delicious especially with handmade corn tortillas..food was worth the wait.. will go back again!!😊
Food is excellent. Authentic Mexican. Staff and owners are so fun and friendly. My favorite go to when I am hungry!
I love coming here I usually order the fajitas that's one of their specialties. Their salsa is amazing as well. They have weekend specials and tamales. They're white cheese tamale is my favorite.
Food here is Delicious especially the Menudo on a Sunday with fresh Tortillas.
Found this thru google maps. Was a little hesitant based on street view and no recent reviews, but loved it! *Very nice ambience (once your inside). *Very friendly staff, made me feel welcome and well taken care of. Accommodated some food/diet requests very easily. *Food was DELICIOUS! I recommend this restaurant and would come back again.
Love it the mendo was is excellent. Delicious. I waited in the to go line one hour but it wascwroth the weight with home made corn tortillas. Can't show you the proof causrbibate it ibwas hungry yum yum
I'll come in here since it opened I always got good service the food I order is been good if not excellent once in a great while the ball will get dropped like any other job sometimes things happen but for the most part I love the atmosphere here my Uncle Manuel set me on the very end stool of the bar when I was just a little tot I'm 70 now I grew up on Hawkins Street this place was known as The Paradise Inn Charlie owned it he sold the best sandwiches in town and you could get a scoop of ice cream for nickel just like it was yesterday this place has historical value Jonathan Perales keeping God first ;)
I love the feel of this Mexican restaurant! The food is superior. And the wait staff caters to every want and need! I recommend it to anyone!
We found La Villa de Jerez on accident actually but I am so happy I did ~ this is the best Mexican restaurant I have been to in Hollister! Now we go quite often and always for family celebrations! Everyone in my family loves their food!
La Villa de Jerez is well-known for their Menudo, that a wait line begins to form at least 30 mins before opening. We figured out that if you wait for the rush to pass, say around 10:30/11am then, then getting seated is much faster. Their Chiles Rellenos and Camarones a la Diabla are delicious alternatives if you don't like menudo; and their tortillas are homemade --which is a plus!!
best menudo in town hands down little undercooked potatoes in breakfast burritos is only negative I can say for the dozens of times I have been there to eat and I have tried to work my way thru the entire menu. look out for shrimp diablo great flavor and enough spice to take down a water buffalo.
Authenic family owned and run Mexican food restaurant! Food is unbelievably good, service is fast and friendly, atmosphere is like home with the family, big or small, loud or quiet. Fun place with excellent food! A treasure in Hollister!!
I ordered the nachos and was amazed at the amount of food that came. I had enough left to take to work the next day. It was more like ordering a tostada than nachos!
Excellent Mexican Food. My fiance agrees, yes Tommy it's my favorite, also because location, service, and everyone's socialable😁. The best Chile Rellenos in the Central & South Bay Areas...... Reminds me of El Burros @ The Pruneyard, in Campbell,CA.Thelma favorite are the Tacos... Tastes like Trejo Tacos in Hollywood.
This is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Hollister. Mind you there are at least 8-10. My wife and I love the chicken fajitas, kids love flautas and burritos. Salsa always on point and occasionally have a good chavela.
Great customer service, good food
Tasty food, fair prices, good service. All in a place with a warm small-town ambience. Last visit Jason (owner's son, studying business in Monterey) took fantastic care of us. Fresh hot corn tortillas and terrific guacamole topped off delicious fajitas and an icy cold beverage. We love our visits to this family-friendly restaurant!
Great little spot! My friend Tara suggested it, so we went for lunch while spending the day running errands, doing laundry, and shopping. We ordered the fajitas, and they were amazingly delicious, even the leftovers that night were awesome. Will definitely come and eat here again!
BOmbdiggity hOmemade tOrtilla chips and salsa, deliciOus burritos, and enough freshly-made scrumptious MenudO for acOupla meals. Prices & portions are quite reasonable. ❤ ❤ ❤
First time here and we loved it! Were from Bakersfield, came with my aunt Dora that is a local and always said we had to try it. Very happy we did. Very good, delicious food, salsa and chips fresh, friendly environment and will recommend to all that plan to visit Hollister.
Always had a good experience here over the last 4 years, both dine in and take out. Extremely friendly service, great food and good portion sizes. Highly recommend!
This is the best Mexican restaurant in the world their salsa is amazing!! don't forget about their margaritas! - 3 Years ago. After all these years this great place still amazes me! They have the best tamales anywhere..stop by you will not regret it!
Came to Holister to visit family and we went to La Villa de Jerez for dinner. When looking from the outside it looked like a hole in the wall restaurant, but walking in it was a Beautiful restaurant. It was clean and it was nice to the eye. The waitress was very nice. The Food was very delicious. Homemade Corn tortillas. A+ in my book. I will come again when I’m in town. Can’t wait to try the Menudo.
I absolutely love this place. Fresh chips with mild tomatoey salsa, great chile relleno and enchiladas and amazing bacon wrapped shrimp. If you're going during COVID restrictions where you can only eat outside, its better to take to go because it gets VERY loud with the cannery across the street, (except the fact that you miss out on endless chips).
one of the best menudos i’ve ever had, just like moms! Yes, they can be slow but definitely worth the wait. Get there early.
Best menudo!! I've tried a lot of menudo from a lot of different restaurants over the years and none of them were ever good. This place has the BEST (other than my mother's of course). It's the closest you'll get to having mom's homemade menudo. The prices are good and they serve hearty portions. Definitely the best Mexican food in town if not the Bay Area!
Always a great dish. Have to wait sometimes when they're busy. But worth the wait. The weekend soups (menudo and pozole) are great, well made. Definitely a go to.
This is my personal favorite restaurant in Hollister! Giant burritos for super cheap, great service, and a homey atmosphere. It's crazy to have a sit down place that's almost as cheap as fast food. The best Mexican food at the best deal, go to Jerez!
Very nice atmosphere and great food!
This restaurant was amazing!!! There was No joke when reading the reviews about the food and homemade tortillas - delicious!!! We just moved here from San Jose and we ventured out - go check it out. Food and price well worth it! A+
Friendly staff and unique historical building. Had the after 5:00 dinner special. Didn't expect such a large portion of food. The chili Verde was tasty and the refried beans were very good and I hate beans so for me to eat them trust me they were very good. My guest had a glass of chardonnay and he was very pleased with the reasonable price for a glass. Great family friendly place.
I really love the Menudo. It is so good the first thing I did when I moved to Hollister along time ago, was to eat Menudo here the very first place a Menudo in Hollister. I love my Menudo with the cow foot in it. I also love when it has hominy .
We almost didn't go inside because of the neighborhood, it's in a funky industrial area, but a couple walked out and I asked if it was any good. They said yes and they were right! Probably the best service we've ever received (not the fastest) but the best. And the food didn't disappoint either! Handmade everything and you can taste it, OH and salsa with guacamole?? LOVE IT
I rate my experience based on quality of food and consistency of flavor. I have been to this place 8 times this past year and every single time the food has been remarkable. the only downside has nothing to do with the food but rather the cleanliness of the tables and floor. they are somewhat sticky. I am not sure if the varnish has worn out but no matter how hard I clean the table they remain sticky.
This little gem is tucked away among warehouses but shines so brightly! The fajitas were enough for two and they accomodated us with two types of tortillas to share. The flavors of the meats allowed them to be show cased and the veggies were not overly cooked and crisp and tender to the bite. The salsas are just the right amount of heat and really enjoyed having chips and salsa at our outdoor dining table. Go give them a try, think authentic and homemade!

The super chicken quesadilla was good. I would have liked a bit of spice on the chicken. It was a bit bland. But it was fresh with big chunks and everything else was really good. I'm sure it would be great with meat with a bit more spice

Food is outstanding, shrimp of the devil that lives up to its name, solid all the way around.
Very consistent good quality non-regional Mexican food, we prefer this location due to parking constraints on San Benito street location
Great value for money. Food is nice, tasty but nothing to sing songs about. Friendly and happy service.
Nice selection of menu items, good portions and great flavors! We like the chicken enchilada plate with green sauce. Solid service as well!
Between this place and Michocanno for the nest Mexican Restaurant in Hollister... La Villa is the best on the weekends for sure, great service and good food, love the Menudo. You need to visit... We will be back...... Wrote the above review before the ownership change, dropped it to 4 stars from 5... the new staff is lost and the new kitchen still trying to cook the recipes right... will give them another chance but it needs to change...
Love, love, love the chili rellenos and enchiladas. They serve the best rellenos in town. Huge chilis in a light fluffy egg wash and loads of creamy cheese inside. Perfection. The house salsa has some heat so be sure to order a side of guac to mellow it out and add to your entree.
As usual, very tasty and authentic Mexican cuisine. Original fare, well done. Friendly wait staff. Very busy all the time, so expect a little wait, but worth it.
The food was fresh and obviously home made. It wasn't the most amazing flavor, but definitely worth going back to! I got the smothered burrito with Diablo sauce, very good!
Solid classic Mexican fare. My buddy and I each had the shrimp and steak fajitas + model dark. Good flavors, nothing fancy, nice waitress.
Exactly what you crave when you want Mexican food! Fast service, affordable and delicious! Yummy sauces. The Skinny Margarita is a perfect complement to a heavier meal.
Great food and super costumer service, they are fast in most cases and I've never yet had problems here, I'm only giving this place 4 stars because of the size of the place since it's on the smaller scale of seats and as an establishment.
Great tasting food. I had the Burrito Supreme de Asada. I would give it 5 stars but they don't offer Al pastor.
Exactly the type of fresh straight down the middle, but all excellently prepared, traditional Mexican family cuisine. Try anything with their freshly made in-house tortillas, their sauces and fresh meats are all high-end and taste like they were made from a family recipe inspired a long time ago.
Had to order al la carte because they didn't have a combination plate with both a chicken crispy Taco and a chicken Enchilada with Rice and Beans. The Taco was one of the best I've had.

This used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant in Hollister, but today it was just okay. The Chavelas that are huge and I usually finish, I left about a third undrank because it was so tangy and hardly tasted like beer or Clamato. It was like drinking straight up lime juice. Not good...
I really love the menudo here and freshly made tortillas. Lunch is OK, haven't really tries all the dishes which are alright, not the best.
Menudo was good. They serve homemade corn tortillas. Great customer service. Parking was limited.
Food is great. Need to organize ordering, takeout, pickup lines. Went this morning one line for all. I pre-ordered online and still had to wait 27 minutes in line. While in line a number of people were arriving and trying to get in front for pre-order pickup. Was told only one line. While in line an employee put another customer in line in front of 18 other people. People with pre-orders were trying to pickup orders ahead everyone else. Total chaos. Need two separate lines or someone checking if anyone has pre-ordered and paid. Menudo was great.
I liked the food. Kind of American-Mexican not real spicy, not a whole lot of variety either, but very reasonable prices. Wife didn't like it though, said staff was unprofessional and semi-rude. I didn't notice, she'll have to write her own review on that. I'll definitely go back with the kids (when mom's gone).
Stopped here on our way to Pinnacles. Got the job done, but nothing special. Relatively bland food (not very spicy). Was disappointed they didn't have horchata! Our service wasn't great, but the waitress seemed like she might be new. I liked the interior and the speed that we got our food.
Friendly staff, old atmosphere, decent food. Shrimp isn't very fresh, definitely freezer for too long and over cooked since it lacks flavor. It's covered up with the sauces so maybe you won't notice it, but that's not the best way to deal with ingredients, especially if they change this much for it.
Not sure if they were understaffed today but it took a long time to get our menus and then our food for just two people. They were kind though so no issue there. Prices are good if you get certain menu items and we were out the door for under $30 for the two of us. For the quesadilla, sadly the chicken I believe is boiled and was flavorless. Wish it had some more flavor.

Dinner was okay. Service was lacking completely. There was a young man greeting people at the door. He was the best asset at restaurant. Friendly and professional.
I ordered a single serving from the takeout menu and was charged for a large serving. I was also passed up over another customer who arrived after me.
I came 1 time a long time ago and it was alright but slow. I came another day and the service was so terrible that i think that i would have got my own food and serve myself😹
Tamales were mediocre, very, very dry, no flavor. Chips were a little stale.
I went to buy menudo with "pata" and I got menudo with no "pata". The service was ok and food is expensive.
The staff is always very nice and friendly, but I was very disappointed in the food the last time I ordered take out. I couldn't eat it after a few bites. There is a spice in the red enchilada sauce that makes it sweet and I could only eat half of one enchilada, it was so sweet I couldn't stand it. My beans were also very runny. It was not good!

Horrible service. We sat down and it all went well until after over 30 min of waiting for our food (mind you we were only two) we got the plates but no tortillas neither silverware to eat, we waited over 10 min and even asked a waitress but after another 20 min we just stood up and left. The food was cold and they ignored us. They didn’t charge but wont visit again.
Wow absolutely terrible! They have gone way down hill! It used to be good! Not only are the portions cut in half but food was terrible!
Found a public hair in my son's food. There are a lot of stupid/annoying mistakes that this place has made over the years that I can overlook, but not food safety or hygiene issues. A few months ago we were served a thousand year old cheese tamale, and only 50% of the time when we order chips and salsa do we actually get salsa. Prices may vary depending on the day or person ringing you up. No consistency and a general flippant attitude, like a lot of businesses in Hollister. Long hair I might be able to get over, but short and curlies and it's a wrap...or a burrito, I suppose.
We ordered 2 super quesadillas to go. When we got back to the job site, and started to dig in the quesadillas we ate had no flavor. They only had meat and cheese. I would not recommend this restaurant to anybody in the Hollister area. 👎🏻
Very poor service, long wait time, asked for chips & salsa, never received it, requested chicken tacos & received beef, food finally served but no silverware, had to go to kitchen and ask for it. Food is mediocre . Not returning!
Not sure how it was going to go. Walked in and you seat yourself. Immediate notice the table was stick and dirty. The server on the other hand was polite and made sure the chips and salsa and drink were kept full. The chips and salsa is very good and the chips came out fresh and warm. The people that came in 10 mins after us received their food first, still trying to figure that out. After filling up on 2 baskets of chips and 2 ice teas and 30 minutes later and one customer returning their to go order (that was probably ours, the reason ours took so long).
Closing time said 8pm. Showed up well before that time and told it was take out only. Only one table occupied and yet refused service. This place is a joke and I will take my money elsewhere!!!!
Expensive prices, small portion sizes, flavorless food. They take advantage of pandemic!!! Muy Caro, porciones pequenas sin savor. Se aprovechan de la pandemia!!! No vengan aqui, no vale la pena!!! I would like to update my review. Today my family and I went to eat at the villa de jerez. We ordered to go due to the pandemic. I am really dissapointed, I feel they are taking advantage of the pandemic Situation. We were served very little food. Food was also flavorless. For the fallita plate they served like 2 tablespoons of rice... And for my order I told them to replace the rice with another portion size of salad.. They removed the rice and gave the same portion size of salad! And charged us extra. I will never go back to this restaurant again! If you look at the before pictures and after pic I posted from over a year ago, you can see the big difference in portion sizes. Not worth coming to this restaurant. When we called to let them know, they messed up in our order he said that that's the way the portion sizes are, but the old pictures speak louder than words.
Picked up a to go order and the lady who helped us was very rude and didnt want to give us what we ordered and paid for.
We have been here multiple times and was always good but today must of been an off day. The service was a little slow and the vanilla cream packet was curdled . The chili Verde was red, and the meat in it was very dry, never got offered a refill of coffee.
Very unorganized. Service was horrible. Here's part of the story: We arrived, we were seated, and we ordered. After half an hour, a pair of customers arrive and do the same, but they were served chips. Another half an hour later, they get their food. Unbelievable! We waited more than an hour for our food and they recieved theirs first.
