Went for work dinner with 12 people. Tried most of the popular appetizers and we ordered beef, chicken and shrimp fajitas for the whole group. The sauces were phenomenal. The cocktails are very tasty and refreshing. I would go again.
Best Mexican food I’ve had in Houston. And the best service I’ve had in my life! The nicest waiters ever and very attentive with refills of drinks and tortilla chips. Amazing experience. My niece loved the birria tacos, I loved my chicken combo plate, the queso is to die for and I ate my weight in it. Can’t wait to go back and will try their margaritas next time too.
Cadente has set the bar for Tex-Mex in Houston. With the same owners as The Pit Room BBQ down the street, you already know the food is going to be great. I highly recommend starting with the brisket nachos and ribs. If you want to sample without getting too full before your entrée, they offer a combo appetizer plate (Botanas #3). From there, the ceviche trio is a must. Each ceviche has its own distinct flavor, and it was honestly hard to pick a favorite. For the main course, the skirt steak fajitas. The large portion can easily feed 2–3 people, and ordering it medium rare was perfect. The meat was tender and flavorful. Brunch is also available on weekends from 10-3p, with a solid brunch menu in addition to the regular main menu. The chilaquiles are delicious and come with a roja sauce. Aside from the food, it’s worth mentioning the free parking garage. Spaces are a little tight, and clearance is 6’6”, which is helpful to know if you’re driving a lifted vehicle.
Went to Candente with some friends. I like that it's kind of hidden in a neighborhood. The atmosphere was nice. They have an outdoor covered patio area. I had a blueberry margarita, it was ok. The salsa was good. My favorite was the green salsa. They had plenty of menu items some of which are made for you to share. I forgot which number we ordered but there was bacon wrapped shrimp, grilled shrimp, sausage, chicken and a couple of other meats. They only give you three plates of condiments so I had to order the fourth one. There was plenty of food for us to share and take a little bit home. I appreciated that the waiter was able to split the check between the four of us. I’d like to go back and try the smoked brisket enchiladas.
We went out to watch a soccer match on Sunday morning with a friend at a pub over on West Alabama and after the game we wanted to grab a bite to eat at a new place. We found Candente on Google and decided to give it a shot. Very good decision on our part! We were sat immediately (we chose the outdoor patio area as the weather was really nice) at approximately 1p on Sunday afternoon. Chips and salsa options arrived immediately and both salsas were excellent. Great flavor and the green sauce has a nice bit of heat on the back end. Our drink order was also taken straightaway. Wife had a large Paloma which she really enjoyed and the kids had Jamaica and said it was great. I went with water. Refills were timely and arrived as needed. We ordered the large beef fajita plate for everyone and it was really quite good. The beef was tender and very flavorful. The tortillas were clearly handmade and all the fixings were fresh and delicious. Everyone enjoyed the meal. Forgot to mention that we also ordered the queso an as appetizer. It was more of a white cheese dip but was really good. We also tossed this on the tacos we made as a nice topping. Staff was polite, friendly and helpful throughout the meal. Nothing but good things to say. It was definitely a little pricey but at least the quality of the food and service was there. We would definitely go back. We spent about $140 after tax and tip. If you're in the area and want some good beef fajitas or TexMex in general give them a shot. We were impressed with both the food and the service.
Finally at Candente Tex Mex. Montrose… I just got something the waitress recommended. This place is quite unique, I will give it that. lol I had to park WAY down the street. That sidewalk was murder!! 😅 I don’t see that well these days and you have to be careful!!! Guacamole salad and Red Sangria to start. Crowded for lunch on Saturday.
Would have liked to have been asked/ given the option of sitting inside or out but the hostess neglected to ask. They had a beautiful water feature that was very peaceful Ceiling fans and table fans was a nice touch. The food was very good Service was quick and the waiter was excellent. It was my first time going and it will definitely come back. Very strong margaritas!
The food here is so good! Highly recommend the Paloma and Margaritas, along with the chicken poblano and steak quesadillas. The appetizer is big enough to be the meal. The fajitas here also never fail and the chips and green salsa are always delicious. They’re queso is also really yummy! The flautas are also super good! I’ve come here 3 times with no reservation and found both parking and a seat within 5 min. They have indoor and outdoor seating and the customer service is always so great!
We had a wonderful evening at Candente Mexican Restaurant while hosting my cousin visiting from Monterrey. The food was everything we hoped for — flavorful, generous, and beautifully plated. From the enchiladas smothered in rich chili gravy to the crispy flautas with fresh guacamole, every dish had that comforting Tex-Mex touch with authentic flair. The ceviche with avocado was light and refreshing, while the sizzling molcajete brought bold, smoky flavors to the table. Chips and queso were the perfect starter, and the rice and beans rounded everything out just right. The drinks made the evening even more special — the Mangonada, michelada Beer was a fun and refreshing twist, the Jalapeño Margarita had just the right amount of spice, and the Premium Mezcal was smooth and full of character. Service was warm and attentive, and the lively atmosphere made it the perfect setting to share stories, laugh, and enjoy a family evening together.
Came here around 1pm on a Monday and we were seated right away. Our waiter was fast with bringing our chips and salsas out (delicious by the way!!), and we placed an order for brisket nachos - we had no idea they were half off on Mondays, so they came out to about $12.50. The dish was HUGE and it is definitely one of my fave appetizers now!!! The brisket had a great smoky flavor that paired really well with the cream, bbq sauce, and onions it came with. I got a burrito for my entree with chicken fajita, which came out to about $20. The burrito already had beans and rice inside of it, but the dish still came with a side of each. I chose the burrito to be topped with queso (included) and I wished I ordered it on the side because it was a little overpowering and drenched the burrito. Still, it was VERY tasty and I would definitely order it again. Would highly recommend this restaurant for a great food experience!
Fajita perfection! I’m not a fan of steak and I ate more steak than chicken. The chicken was delicious and the steak was cooked to perfection. I’m not sure a better fajita exists! The grilled onions may have changed my life. Perfect blend of flavors and textures. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I only really review places I love, and I LOVED this place. If you’re an avid fan of Tex Mex this is a must-try. If you’re not, still try it, it’s that good. They’ve blended TexMex with BBQ (same ownership as Pitroom BBQ down the road, which is also must-try) and the brisket and ribs are all slow smoked. You can smell the difference as soon as you walk in and for meat lovers, it’s intoxicating. I highly recommend the Birria Tacos, both for taste and presentation (watch out for the orange sauce and try it first, because it’s HOT- comes on the side). Beef fajitas (regular skirt steak is what we had) were also delicious. Our server also recommended the Brisket Enchiladas but we had just had BBQ the day before so we decided it was for “next time”. The menu feels chef inspired which is normally lacking from most Tex Mex places. I really enjoyed that! We sat on the patio which stays cool even on a 90+ degree day. Easy parking in a garage on site (and some on street) but not sure if it’s so easy on a busy evening as we came around Sunday at 12:30. Garage clearance 6’ 6” so good for oversized vehicles as long as they’re not lifted.
We couldn’t finish three dishes, even though we were starving! This place is famous for its meat dishes in Tex-Mex style, but we decided to try the fish ceviche, vegetable quesadilla, and shrimp fajitas. Everything was fresh, delicious, and — as mentioned — huge! The restaurant itself is spacious and was packed with people. Our waiter was kind, knowledgeable about the menu, and gave us great recommendations. Even though they don’t serve tea, she suggested hot water with lemon for me, which turned out to be perfect. We’d definitely recommend this place to friends!
Second time here. Host staff on point. The server was cordial with an exhausted demeanor. Still tipped her $35 on the $207.10 bill for 3. Food runner left plate under warming lamps too long so, crispy taco was...not. Enchilada cheese dried into rice. Today's experience did not compare to initial one.
Food was great. The menu had some very interesting items like brisket enchiladas.(update) I've been back almost once per week in the last month and a half. I have not been disappointed.
My neighbor and I visited Candente Restaurant in Bellaire,TX 2/6/2026. The atmosphere was very pleasant and lively. Our waitress Taylor was the best. She talked me into the Tres Leches cake. The way she described it sounded delicious and different from other's I had eaten. The cake did not disappoint. It was a 10 out of 10. I had the taco salad with ground beef and no cheese. I would have preferred more greens other than the lone iceberg lettuce. Otherwise okay. I preferred not to use the salad dressing. I may return especially for the cake and to try a different item on the menu.
Candente. A name that sounds like it could be a telenovela villain, but instead delivers bold Tex-Mex fire with a side of char-grilled ambition. From the jump, this place felt like the kind of spot where tortillas are sacred, tequila flows freely, and nobody’s allowed to leave hungry—or emotionally unfulfilled. Let’s talk brisket nachos. Good grief. These things didn’t come to play—they came to conquer. Smoky, cheesy, piled high, and unapologetically extra. Every chip carried the weight of brisket, melty cheese, and the soul of Texas BBQ. If nachos had a hall of fame, these would be the Jordan-era Bulls. Then came the medium skirt steak fajitas, which were good, not great. Flavor? Yes. Char? Present. Tenderness? Eh… let’s say the steak had commitment issues. It just didn’t want to break up with my molars. Still tasty, just a bit more workout than I bargained for. But let’s not stop there—because we upgraded like fajita royalty. • Quail: Delicate, smoky, and probably hunted by candlelight in a mesquite forest. • Chile Relleno: A bold, cheesy middle finger to moderation. • Chili Lime Shrimp: Tangy, juicy, and basically a vacation in every bite. • And the other shrimp add-on? Imagine a Texas Twinkie got a little spicy, fell in love with the Gulf Coast, and showed up stuffed with shrimp instead of cream. It was weird. It was wonderful. It was gone in 10 seconds. Final verdict: 4.5 stars, rounding up for vibes, nacho excellence, and the sheer audacity of that shrimp-stuffed fever dream. Would I return? Without hesitation. Would I drag friends along while swearing the brisket nachos will change their lives? Already scheduling it. Candente, you’re a meat-fueled, Tex-Mex fever dream—and I mean that in the best way.
This is a nice little place. The vide is laid back and chic, but you can see a little wear and tear on the decor. The menu has a lot of options and the brisket really is the star of the show. The nachos and enchiladas were superb. The portion sizes were great too. You could totally share a dish with two people. The service was pretty fast as well.
The food was good nice smoky flavor on the ribeye fajitas. The drinks were good as well the service was ok. This place was very very busy. If I lived in the area I would definitely go back but I wouldn't make the drive to come here to be honest its like your run of the mill tex mex restaurant across Houston
This place is definitely over priced... but the food is really good! We ordered nachos, ceviche, and the fajita parilla. The fajita was very tender and flavorful. My family would come back. Service was ok, our waiter misinformed us about drinks, didn't seem to know the menu well, but she was nice overall. Atmosphere was awesome!!
The Atmosphere was great! We enjoyed the outdoor music in the patio, the host was friendly, but apart from that everything else was average. The sever was not attentive at all, and the food was average. We had a chile con queso, was extremely watery and I ordered the brisket enchiladas because a lot of people had said they were good. In all honesty they were not as good as expected. My daughter had ordered the chicken quesadilla and she mentioned that it was spicy. More than likely we won’t be visiting again.
Hostess was not friendly 3/10 Beautiful location. Restaurant is lovely and the outdoor patio is beautiful 10/10 Drinks were nothing special and over priced 4/10 Salsa was very flavorful. Would have liked either the salsa or chips to have been warm 7/10 Had the lunch 2 for $19 chicken tostada and chick enchilada verde. Nice presentation. it was ok 7/10 Our server had no personality, she did just enough. Never gave her name, no pleasantries ' Have you been here before?' ' How's your day?' Nothing! Didn't come back to see if we needed anything else. *thin girl with ponytail and tats She needs a crash course in customer service I could only leave 10% 2/10 I will come back to give it another shot as I loved sitting on the patio.
