First time here this past Saturday for brunch, and I must say I will definitely return! The ambiance is beautiful and very well decorated. The music was also low which I loved, making it easier to have conversion with friends. From the hostesses, our amazing server, to the managers (who stopped by to say hello)…everyone was pleasant and very welcoming! Our server was absolutely amazing. He was knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations. It was a quiet Saturday afternoon and the service was speedy. For drinks we ordered the heartbreaker, the lychee martini, and the sunrise sunset…all were tasty and well made. We ordered the seafood dip which had shrimp, crabmeat, and crawfish; being a self proclaimed seafood expert from Maryland, I must say this dish was delicious with a nice amount of seafood. We also ordered the pancakes, salmon, and bungalow breakfast. Every dish was delightful. I am excited to come back and try their dinner menu! Highly recommend !
One of the best meals I've ever had. Everything was delicious. We didn't have reservations and luckily we were able to snag a bar seat! They had a prefixed valentines dinner, and honestly it was the best $250 ever spent. We ended up paying $400 with tip, tax, and drinks, but it was well worth it. Too bad we were only in Houston for the night. I would definitely go back!
Had an incredible experience celebrating my friend's bday dinner here. Beautiful atmosphere, impeccable service, and delicious food. We had the wagyu meatballs, pineapple jerk wings, salad, asparagus, creme brulee corn, and new York strip with garlic truffle butter. The Coco Coramina cocktail and lychee martini were also yummy.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 We celebrated our anniversary at Bungalow Downtown Dining, and it was truly an amazing experience. The food was exceptional, the atmosphere was beautiful, and it made for the perfect night out. We ordered the seafood dip, green beans, fried lobster, corn chowder and fries. A special shout-out to our server, Oumou, who gave us wonderful, attentive service and made the evening feel extra special. She even gave us a free customized dessert to help us celebrate! The only thing I would change is the number of reminder messages I received about our reservation—it was a bit excessive. Other than that, everything was fantastic. We will definitely be back!
I went to this incredible establishment for my birthday dinner in a group of 10. The food was AMAZING. It was our first time in Houston and this restaurant took the cake. Everything was well seasoned, drinks were delicious, the atmosphere was calming, and they have a brunch menu for anyone looking to come earlier in the day! Special shoutout to our server Ukeme!!! She was so kind and attentive. All of her recommendations were a 10000000/10.
Dinner and drinks were absolutely wonderful. The private room was perfect for our group and made the evening feel extra special. Aleria, our waitress, was fabulous attentive, warm, and incredibly professional. She kept everything flowing smoothly and made sure we were well taken care of all night. The food and drinks were delicious, and the service truly elevated the entire experience. We will definitely be back.
I had an amazing experience on my birthday this year at Bungalow. The restaurant is beautiful and well put together. Our hostess Aleria, was amazing as well. She kept me and my guests thoroughly entertained. She was also able to give great menu selections. I suggest everyone give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. I enjoyed the snapper and blackberry lemon drop.
The staff made sure I had a wonderful experience for my birthday gathering. We had appetizers and cocktails and everything was delicious. The bartender made a special drink for one of my guests who wasn’t sure what they wanted, and even brought my drink out with a flower and sprinkle of gold dust on top which I thought was a nice birthday touch. They capped the evening off with a fun s’mores dessert. I wouldn’t change any highly recommend
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Unforgettable Dining Experience (200/10)! This is not a run-of-the-mill steak place—it is a culinary experience. I had an incredible time tonight and will definitely be back! Every dish was stellar: Pineapple Jerk Wings Seafood Dip Expertly prepared Tomahawk Steaks and Fried Lobster Tails The surprising star side: Crème Brûlée Corn (AMAZING!) Dessert: The luscious Lemon Meringue was out of this world. Absolutely 200/10! Already booked for my birthday in December. A must-try!
I'm not one to do reviews very often, but I haven't even left the restaurant and I'm typing this up. We had reservations at Le Jardiner, but they got bought out for an event, and I am SO glad they did. Our friend suggested the Bungalow and this has been one of the most amazing experiences I've had in years. Everything was phenomenal, the staff, the food, the atmosphere...perfection. We came to celebrate a special occasion, and unlike so many other places they actually prepared for our arrival and made us feel special the whole night. They closed with the firey display at the end. Overall 15 out of 10, Bungalow is worth every penny. For specifics, it's gonna get repetitive. Wagyu meatballs and lobster bisque, fire. Cajun ribeye, Oscar style Filet, and truffle fries, fire. The bread pudding, absolute inferno, best bread pudding I've had in my entire life. Our waitress Aleria took phenomenal care of us and, again, made us feel special the whole night. Two separate members of leadership came by to make sure we were having a good experience. If you're anywhere close to the edge of wanting to come here, jump off that edge and dive in to true flavor. Le Jardiner? Forget about em. This spot deserves the next Michelin Stars for Houston.
What a wonderful experience! My friend and I came here to celebrate her birthday. The place was packed and there was a bit of a wait time. Not a large waiting area but they have a nice picture wall backdrop that you can take pics in front of. Complementary glasses of champagne were provided. Nice decor, beautiful ambience and music at a level where you can still carry on a conversation. Our server was amazing and gave us some really good recommendations. For appetizers: The Seafood dip was incredible and I would come back just for the Selva salad! So fresh and that dressing was chef’s kiss! Entrees: We shared the NY strip steak and Peruvian chicken. Sides: We had Brussels sprouts and Mascarpone mashed potatoes. The steak was good (not quite medium like we wanted but still very good) and the spicy cajun butter topping added to the flavor. The chicken in itself was ok but it was the Ahi sauce under it that stole the show. It brought everything beautifully together. The Brussel sprouts and Mashed potatoes were flavorful and done right. One of the highlights was that our shared dishes were split and served on 2 separate plates for us so we didn’t have to do anything. That was very thoughtful and accommodating. We were full and couldn’t fit dessert, but they were sweet enough to bring out a beautifully decorated s’more plate to commemorate my friend’s b’day! Would most definitely come back!
Came here for brunch and kyra was great! She had great recommendations and the drinks and food were great. Got the dynamite shrimp. Spicy but not overpowering. The tuna was amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly. Will be back for sure!
We had a great experience. The atmosphere was upscale while still feeling very comfortable, lively, relaxed, and perfect for enjoying a long meal. The food was "on point". The whole fried snapper was phenomenal; generous in size, perfectly crisp at the corners, and cooked beautifully throughout. The sides took it to another level. The Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes and corn; WoW Service made the night even better. Moni was sharp, attentive, and completely took care of us; a party of 4. She was knowledgeable, well-timed, and welcoming. She elevated the entire experience. We had a ball.....
We chose this restaurant here to celebrate the anniversary. The food, service, and atmosphere were all very much appreciated. Thanks to our server, Chelsea, and also to the restaurant manager and other staff leaders for a great environment and dining experience! The steak was tender, other food items were adequately prepared, and the drinks were really good. MAKE SURE YOU CONSIDER PUTTING THE MARTINI COCKTAIL WITH THE PEANUT BUTTER WHISKEY ON THE MENU — DON’T FORGET ABOUT ME 🤣🤣🤞🏽🤞🏽. Looking forward to returning to try this restaurant again.
This was a 10 out of 10 experience. I visited Bungalow downtown Houston with two of my girlfriends for brunch. We were visiting Houston on a girls trip visiting from Charlotte, NC and Virginia. Initially, I’d seen a lot on social media about Bungalow and wanted to try it out for myself to see what the hype was about. I can truly say that from start to finish, the entire experience was phenomenal. The food was excellent!!!! We ordered the whole fried red snapper, the seafood dip, the lobster grilled cheese, the chicken wings, and the stuffed French toast. The fried red snapper is one of the best I have ever had in my entire life. I can honestly say that every single item we tasted was spectacular. Additionally, the aesthetic and overall vibe of the restaurant was superb. It is a beautiful establishment and the service was equally impressive. The alcoholic beverages were also very good, and strong! It has been a very long time since I have gone to a restaurant that possessed all three characteristics: great aesthetic/vibe, excellent food, and excellent service. We enjoyed Bungalow so much that we planned to go back a second time before the end of our trip, but unfortunately did not have a chance to go back. I will definitely be adding Bungalow to my list of staple restaurants that I must eat whenever I am in Houston again. It was a pleasure to support this black owned business. Thank you for providing such a wonderful dining experience.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Everything was 5/5! From the seafood dip to the Red Snapper to the bread pudding! Our Server Monie was great! Super nice and her recommendations were on point! I will definitely come back! Ask for Monie!
Recently booked the Chefs Table for my mom’s 50th Birthday Brunch!! It was absolutely stunning! The food was absolutely amazing, especially the Seafood Dip. (If you book this space for your group, you should definitely order 2-3 for the table to try!!) Drinks were great. Shoutout to our bartender Tyson, and our server Kira! They did a phenomenal job and made our experience even better!
My favorite weekend and happy hour spot. Bartenders, especially DaJuan, make tasty and strong drinks, music is great. Spend below is not happy hour spend.
They play good music for 90’s babies. If more people danced it’d be even more lit. One of my fav bars Downtown
Great vibe to this place! We went in around 8 pm on a Friday and things were laid back with an excellent, attentive staff. Love the comfortable couches inside and out. Stayed for a bit then kept exploring downtown. We came back around midnight and wow the party was jumping! Great experience both times and completely different. Would highly recommend! Edit: corrected typos
Great place, chill atmosphere. Love it’s a old Iconic Houston store made into a bar. Front display windows of the old store are now couch patios. Great for people watching! You can even sit at a table in the old elevator shaft with closing door. Bathrooms take a little thinking one has a key one the door the other a lock for the key. Hint key goes into lock LOL Vintage couches set up in separate sitting areas against a beautiful cedar wall. Great Happy hour specials! Kareoke was great !
Overall lovely experience. My boyfriend and I came to celebrate and were instantly greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne. We were consistently and carefully attended to by our server, Samyri, who also provided helpful recommendations. The R&B music really set the mood and complimented the aesthetics. At the end of the evening we were surprised with a very sweet treat. In terms of the food; loved the passion fruit mocktail! The crab dip was delicious and worth considering a second trip for. The lobster was very juicy, the Peruvian chicken was good but I wish the chicken was more flavorful in its self (the ahi sauce however, was delicious). I appreciated the crispy yet flavorful Brussels sprouts, but wish the mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese had a bit more flavor to them. Overall, the experience and food were very enjoyable. Keep in mind there’s a 20% gratuity included, overall the entire meal came to approximately $200.
Cozy little bar pretty good prices on their drinks can't say much other than it's a cozy little nice friendly atmosphere
It's a decent place with good happy hour deals and bar service. They have different events every day in the evening. It was an open mic stand-up comedy kind of thing on the day we visited. However, that was a questionable event not like your professional standby up comedy where u pay entrance fees. This is free, tip if you want. You can have a good time. The blonde girl at Bar was awesome and quick to acknowledge your drinks requests. They have shisha for $30, which is a little pricy and live taco counter outside as well.
Came here by accident just walking around downtown. Started off slow but picked up quickly. Had a problem with drinks, but Gladys took over and made my night. Had a great time because of her. I'll try it again if I see her in there. Over all it was good, great atmosphere, good music, and fun people.
We went to have dinner on 11-23-25. I’m a little late posting this review, but here it is. Our waitress was very nice, attentive, and truly tried to make our dinner enjoyable. We ordered the filet mignon with creamed corn and mashed potatoes everything tasted good. They also give you a complimentary dessert if you’re celebrating a special occasion, which is a nice touch. 🙂 However, our experience was disrupted by a little fly/gnat that kept bothering us throughout the entire meal. My husband mentioned it to the waitress, but nothing was done about it, and the issue was ignored. To make things worse, I slipped and almost fell on the floor in the path back to my table after returning from the restroom because it was slippery. I’m currently in a leg brace, so this could have been a serious injury. Our waitress noticed and came to check on us afterward. Also, just be aware that you will be subject to an automatic 20% gratuity despite your experience. When you go to a nice restaurant, you expect to enjoy your meal not deal with pests flying around or worry about getting hurt. Other than that, the food was good and our waitress was attentive.
I really didn’t appreciate the bartender yelling at my friend and I as we were leaving, shouting across the bar, “Did you want to pay for your shots?” She clearly didn’t realize we had already closed our tab with the other bartender while she was at the other end deep in conversation with her friends. It wasn’t that serious — we only had two shots that totaled $12. ( I usually enjoy a stop a deans when bar hopping downtown )
My wife and I were so excited to choose this restaurant as our Valentine’s Day dinner. Unfortunately, our experience was so awful that we feel obligated to leave a review. Despite paying for the entire Valentine’s Day pre-planned package; we never received our first course (oysters), had our second course changed with a substitution and were never notified until it was served to us in a passive manner that we felt obligated to keep it. (Ran out of the packaged item) Then, when our main course was served, there was a cockroach under our plate that ran across our table. We took a picture, notified the server quietly to not cause a scene out of respect, but were very disappointed in the way it was handled. we quickly moved to desert to try and wrap up our dinner as we had lost our taste. We were unfortunately charged full price with no accommodations. We paid quietly and began walking towards the exit. The manager offered to reduce our check by $30 (our original check was $470, so this would be a 6% accommodation) however this was after we had already paid and signed our check and began to leave. The halfhearted gesture left us feeling uncomfortable and in an awkward position. We will unfortunately not be back, nor do we feel that the management team cares too much that it happened. this situation was not properly managed, and no one seemed to care much about it, other than wiping down the cockroach with a napkin and quickly moving on as if it did not happen.
They charged me for someone else’s transactions a week ago. I tried to get ahold of someone multiple times but they kept giving me the runaround and stopped replying to me. Bobby said he would look in to it and I still gave them a couple days and they went cold/silent. Drinks are overpriced and customer service lacks accountability.
BEWARE! I find it extremely shady that the bartenders don’t disclose the 20% automatic gratuity. APPARENTLY it’s printed on the paper receipt, but the font is tiny, unhighlighted, not even circled. It’s nowhere on the menu either. When I asked the female bartender (who is consistently unpleasant, by the way), she just pointed to a dusty, HARD-TO-SEE sign stuck so high up on the wall it was practically on the ceiling that stated “20% gratuity added to all checks”. The place is also incredibly dark! Almost like it’s designed to make it harder to read the receipts and that sign… shady. What’s even worse is that it isn’t disclosed when paying cash! NOT AT ALL. I wasn’t even given a receipt for my cash transaction. The many times I handed over cash, they would come back with my change and i’d tip them, because i didn’t know it was already part of the total. And not a single bartender has ever told me “Oh tip is included”. So they’ve just been happily pocketing the extra tip without at least letting me know? Which means I’ve basically been double tipping since i started coming to this bar?! It’s incredibly deceitful… I’ve tried calling the business to bring awareness to this issue but the number on their website led me to an answering service. So it’s impossible to actually speak to management. Spend your money elsewhere because this is definitely a suspicious business. Dean’s has changed for the worst lately, and this was the last straw for me.
Update 7/1/2025: I still have not received a call back and have since taken measures to dispute through my bank. I recommend everyone verify charges on their accounts if you visit here. Be warned that their call service does appear to be a screening measure since they “have no way of contacting management directly” according to the two people I spoke to on the phone out of the three calls made. Makes you wonder how a company could not have means of contact with the business that employs them. I was recommended to appear in person which -in all fairness- I did not do because I felt I would just be turned away and referred back to the dead end phone number. Suffice to say I will never return here. Original review: I had a random charge hit my credit card in early May. This was a charge in addition to what I was actually charged and authorized. I’ve called the listed number three times (which goes to an answering service) and waited on a return call for more than a week with no assistance. Dean’s has taken no accountability for this yet and the answering service seems like an intentional dead-end for anyone attempting to contact management. I was told to call during operational hours to speak with someone at the bar but the number just looped back to the answering service.
I will never come back here. Like if the bartenders are going to take their tip out of your money verses letting you tip them on your own I don’t like places like that. I don’t mind tipping but let me tip you. I got 2 green teas gave her $20 dollars and didn’t get no change back. I was gone let her keep it but it’s the idea.
