Quirky neighborhood cheap eats, great welcoming staff and one man cover songs live performance music! I LOVE This place! The owner is quick to come check on tables, have a chat with a bar guest or just smile to welcome you and yours to his restaurant. Rice and beans are super authentic tasting and while you eat you can get entertainment from a tiny concert of some old school hits. The food is good, the prices are EXCELLENT and drinks are cold and quickly replaced! Hidden and cozy but Champions peeps know about this place! Hard to feel like the times before but this place takes me back. Family friendly and cute date spot. Fave dish is everything we have tried!
We dined at Don Ramon's last night. It was my friend's first time dining there and he really liked the meal. He said he will definitely eat there again. The food is always good here. The service is so excellent. We arrived just before closing last night not realizing we did so. The service remained excellent and we were never treated as an inconvenience or rushed. They were so professional, polite and personable. I so highly recommend this restaurant. Try the chicken enchilada mole. Oh, my goodness it is good! You will not be disappointed dining here.
Order flautas a la Mexicana. They were delicious. The chicken was very well seasoned & juicy. Every bite was delicious. The service was excellent. No problem parking.
Their food was great! I had their ground beef enchiladas, and friends both had their mole enchiladas. I tried their mole sauce, and it was incredibly good!! Great atmosphere with live music! Margaritas were on point!! We'll be back!!! Update: Don Ramon's has become one of our house to places! Great food, great service, nice mexican stylish decor and talented guitar players playing classic music.
Amazing spot tucked away off 1960 & Champion Forest, Don Ramon's is a great Mexican food spot that I often frequent for lunch. They offer lunch plate & daily deals. Fast service, ample parking, and affordable dishes. I love to order the Chicken Tortilla Soup and table side guacamole. Highly recommend if you are craving decent Tex-Mex!
My wife loved the steak fajitas. The salsa is a bit hot but tasty. Tamales had too much corn mass for my liking. The overall flavors were good. I always hit the same restaurant multiple times to check consistently. Stay tuned. UPDATE: visit 3-11 about 11am. Truly a hidden gem. My wife and her mother had soup and had nothing but positive comments. They loved that the spicy contents were on the side! Some like it hot others don't. I had the taco salad and it was outstanding. Nachos were delicious and by far the best sopapillas in all of Houston. The dough had perfect amounts of sour sweet taste. They had live music. It wasn't really loud and perfect for the moment. If you don't try this place out, you're truly missing out!
This is our usual go to place for amazing Mexican food but this last visit took things to a whole new level. Our waitress was extremely friendly and took care of us. When they brought out our entrees we took that first bite into our dishes and it was so divine, as if an angel blessed it. We could not ask for more during our visit. They treated all the guests as if they were family. Will definitely stop by again to satisfy our cravings.
The food was ok. It was kinda greasy, which is unusual for any of our normal Mexican restaurant choices. It's also pricey. It's listed as Fine Dining, so I guess that's to be expected. Our waiter was Diego and he was top notch. He was on top of service - keeping the drinks full and offering to help in any way he could. We will probably go back. If the prices were more in line with other places, we'd go more. The quesadilla was good but probably not $20 good. Just my opinion.
This place is a hidden gem. The decor and ambiance of this restaurant is very quaint and nuanced. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the pricing was moderate. Their green salsa is amazing as is their caldo de rez. Recommended. Thank you for a great experience
Service was really really slow. Food was really good though. Update: Like this place. Tonight needed a supper and a place to do some paperwork. The maitre d was awesome and gave me a piece of paper to do notes. The servers were quick and so many I wasn't sure who my waiter was. I immediately ordered my cheese enchiladas and went to work. They had it out pretty quickly and it was good as always. The only downside is that for a cheese enchilada plate and water it was almost $23 and that is a high price. Wished I could afford to come more often I never ordered a soft drink. Update: went here again and ordered my usual cheese enchiladas. My wife and our friend ordered dishes we hadn't had before and they were impressive looking and very good. My wife thinks she got her new favorite. Our server, spelled Isaasc on the receipt, was probably one of the best servers we've had. He was so attentive and right there filling our glasses before I even notice them being low and replacing chips and salsa or doing whatever was needed. He got the orders out quickly and it was really a fantastic meal and time. Update: wife tried the taco salad and I had my usual cheese Enchiladas. Nice quiet lunch
It was a nice atmosphere. Food was good but the service i didn't care too much for, I was seated i waited about 10 minutes until someone finally brought the chips in salsa. Then another ten minutes for my drink meanwhile other people were welcome inThe restaurant and we're being served right away.I didn't understand. It's like forgot about me.I'm kinda undecided whether to go back again.
Typical tex mex restaurant. Comparable to any of the big chains. There are better restaurants to choose from, so this wouldn't be my first choice. They had live music, which was nice and kids meals were priced well.
The atmosphere was great, staff was so friendly. We went on a Thursday evening and they had some entertainment which was very nice. He was singing great songs and even took request. So let's get to the food... I ordered the Carnitas a la Mexicana all I have to say is the presentation was wonderful however the meat was so tough well I'll just leave it at that (left the whole plate.) The beans and rice had a good flavor. We also ordered a beef enchilada which was good, and the Burrito Texanos which was ok. All and all for us this will be a one stop meal. Hey for each there own right!
The restaurant and bathrooms were clean and there is great parking. The service could have been better but I think she may have been new but the staff is very nice. The food was bland the shrimp enchiladas the red sauce was watery with no flavor. The Chile con queso was very thin and watery as well. The green sauce for the chips were good. It may have been a bad day I will try them again on a different day and see if it's better.
This place gets a 2 because the green sauce slaps and the soda was spicy (good). My husband and I used to live in the Willowbrook area years ago then moved northwest. We were in the area and decided to go back to a place we loved to eat at after church weekly. It was very nostalgic being there because it looked the same but that quickly changed. Our waiter was just weird and he honestly creeped me out in an awkward way. The staff that wasn’t doing anything was just randomly standing and watching our every move from a distance. The menu apparently changed because I asked for one thing and a completely different rendition of that menu came out. I asked for Mexican butter/sauce with my fajitas and our server brought out a slap of butter. I couldn’t help but laugh. I wasn’t asked what type of beans I wanted, the server didn’t have a note pad to take our accommodations, they brought me a refill Coke with no ice, the chips were definitely A.M old, and the chicken was just dry and tough. It’s an unfortunate thing because we loved Don Ramon’s but it went downhill like Los Cucos.
Food is sub par and the owner does not respect the feedback from customers of certain ethnic backgrounds. The restaurant smells like mildew. I suggest they use a clean mop during cleaning if cleaning is actually taking place. Will never spend another dollar at this establishment again. I used to visit this establishment at least 2-3 times per week. Isaac is the worst waiter I’ve ever encountered.
Came inside on 11-15-24 at 2:17pm me and my husband with our 2 boys just stood there. The waiter was busy. A waitress passed and said nothing to us. The female busboy didn't say anything to us. So obviously they didn't care to attend us. We left. I was really looking forward to eating at this place because it looks very nice.
