It was our first time eating Texan BBQ and it was so delicious. The pulled pork was soft and juicy, brisket had tons of flavor, ribs were tender and BBQ sauce was amazing! The Mac and cheese and the potato salad were exquisite! The service was great. The place has a cool vibe with its different artisan and local products. Looking forward to going back and try their coffee and brunch options.
I've eaten all the best BBQ in Houston and Henderson & Kane belongs up there with the rest of them. Most BBQ joints do one thing better than the rest of their meats but H&K nails all the meats. The brisket is perfectly cooked, the fat is rendered as good as any you will find in the state. The sliced flat brisket was perfectly tender and moist, which is incredibly difficult to accomplish. The point brisket was rich and delicious. Huge pork spare ribs with a perfect bite and a nice seasoning and smoke that didn't overpower the pork. Counter service was fast and friendly. Nice selection of beverages on tap and plenty more in the cooler. The whole store is a delight and I love the old school blues and bluegrass playing in the background. It really completes the general store vibe. Great selection of local and other merch made in Texas. If you pull up to another BBQ place in town and it has a line out the door, get back in your car and drive to Henderson & Kane. It will be worth the trip.
Henderson & Kane is amazing. I only support small family owned business, but they make that so easy. The food is amazing. I've tried a lot of the menu, and everything has been so delicious. The smoke chicken and sweet potato and kale are standouts. Give them a try.
Came here randomly on a weekday lunch but i was able to get a seat and order quickly. They have nice ice water here. Menu is pretty extensive but I just got a combo plate. Idk much about barbecue and I think this was good but I feel like my brisket wasn't as fatty as I expected (though I did ask for a mix of lean/fatty, I just thought it'd be even more fatty) and I felt like the ribs were not as juicy either. They have wifi here and lots of drink selection so that's nice too.
A touch of nostalgia little store It is such a cute mix of homemade/canned goods and regular store things. But more than likely someone is here for some BBQ. The baked potato is the best (leave the butter on the side). The smoky flavor, tender bites with a hint of chew makes the perfect texture for a potato. If only I can figure out how it is achieved. Meats and boudin are very flavorful just a little dry but I’d eat this any day. Happy eating
All I can say is WOW! I came for Monday night steak and the steak was nothing less than a 10/10!!! Flavored so well and the service was so welcoming! Thank you Aaron for showing me and my best friend great hospitality on our first experience! I will definitely be returning soon :)
Stumbled across this place by chance and let me tell you EVERYTHING THEY SAY ABOUT IT IS TRUE! The moment you walk through the front doors the aroma of the smoked meats hits you like a train. Their brisket is so delicious and Mac and cheese is so creamy! I cant Wait to go back and try more of their food! I couldnt Recommend this spot enough
This place is a hidden gem in the city. It’s a charming spot where you can enjoy local products, a cozy atmosphere, and delicious barbecue. The owner personally smokes the meat, and their homemade butter is fantastic. The warm, family-like vibe makes every visit special. Plus, they have fresh-baked sourdough bread every Sunday. I can’t recommend it enough!
We found this place by chance last night and decided to stop in and honestly, one of the best decisions we made. The food was incredible, and the owners were unbelievably warm and welcoming. The brisket literally melts in your mouth. The whole place has such a cozy, family-style atmosphere❤️
Absolutely fantastic place! Our group ordered the queso and nachos ( both with brisket ) and two pitmasters. Everything on those plates was delicious, we all left fat and happy with some leftovers for a late night snack! Great service and a huge variety of beer and wine. I’m recommending this place to all visitors to Houston!
What a neighborhood gem!! I was looking for delicious bbq and found so much more. Well adorned general store with the added benefit of delicious smoked meat and savory sides. The manager and everyone working are incredibly nice and it's obvious that they truly care about your enjoyment. I wish I lived here so I could come here more often. The ambiance was pleasantly quiet and subdued during dinner despite there being a consistent flow of excited patrons. 10/10 all around!!
We had a rib plate with mac & cheese and string beans and a combo 2 meat plate that had turkey, chopped brisket, mac and cheese and fresh string/green beans. The mac & cheese was really tasty however, we didn’t care too much for the fresh string beans but they were seasoned really good, they were not warm but also I prefer my beans a little softer… but don’t pass them up. Over all I would give them another visit. This was my experience so please stop by and enjoy.
This place is great and instantly became one of my favorite places. They have a general store full of different foods, most all chosen for their ingredient list being healthier and straightforward. The food is great. The young lady running the front of the house the day I went was amazing. She is fast, helpful, and all while handling the whole store at once. For sure, I am going to make this a regular stop. BBQ, burgers and steak...I'm in.
I started with a biscuit from the Brunch menu. I liked it more than everything else! We also had the brisket nachos, which was more than we thought it would be! We loved them! I like that they give you the option of “fatty” brisket as an entree! My Partner, Matt, had a very delicious and filling turkey sandwich. We plan to return, especially for breakfast!
Aug-3: Awesome store with unique local and Texas products. Serious BBQ place. Brisket is cut thick, and is juicy with a just right seasoned bark. Ribs are not fall off the bone but very tender. Found the seasoning a bit more salty than I prefer. Pulled pork was moist and lightly seasoned. Cajun spicy Boudin sausage was just ok - neither Cajun nor spicy 😆.
The Turkey and Brisket was a hit. Family loved the well smoked taste of both. I been in Houston for a life time and this was a great find. The customer service was great!!
Great BBQ and bakery. Locally source. Friendly fast service and great ambiance of a neighborhood spot. Sometimes it can get a little busy during meal times. One of my favorite BBQ spots when I'm in Houston for business. When I was there last week I got the brisket and turkey along with sides of creamed corn and potato salad. A crazy as it may sound on of my favorite features of a meal when coming here is the slice of bread. Easy win for me. Attached below is the photo of my latest meal there. You won't regret coming here.
Stop scrolling for great BBQ In Houston and just go here! Exquisite lean brisket. Coleslaw was well balanced to the meat. Service was welcoming and extremely kind and prompt. There is a family feel to the place. Loved it!!
Okay! First let me say "¡Estos son mis nuevos amigos!". We were in town for AfroTech and picked a place based on reviews. I was not disappointed! Everyone was so nice and accommodating. The Brisket and chicken were incredible! The banana pudding *chef's kiss*. Not only did I enjoy my food, I enjoyed the people! You all run a true gem of an establishment and will refer people back to you and visit again when I'm back next year. Thank you for your welcoming environment and for the conversation.
Cute little place! The brisket was the best I have had and I loved the spicy sauce!! I got the mustard dill potato salad and the sweet potato and kale as my sides. Everything was just delish! It’s counter service, so order there and they bring your food to you. They also sell refrigerated and frozen items, beer, wine and honey. There is even a coffee bar. Had a fantastic old timey feel. Parking is on the street.
The BBQ is absolutely incredible - the brisket is melt-in-your-mouth tender, the ribs are fall-off-the-bone, and the sides are just as delicious. The owner is incredibly welcoming and makes you feel right at home. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and it's the perfect spot to enjoy a delicious meal with friends or family.
Love this place! Ribs, brisket, chicken, sausage, sides, dessert and so much more. It was all great! We completely enjoyed dinner and will be back for breakfast as soon as possible:)
This General Store/BBQ spot is a true gem. Not only is the food awesome but the vibe is unique and welcoming. The beer/beverage selection is excellent with several draught beers and a cider choice. We had the ribs, lean brisket, and pulled pork all of which were flavorful, tender, and the ribs had a nice texture. Only minor complaint was the rib portion was small. We tried the cream corn, mac n cheese, potato salad, sweet potato and kale, and green beans all of which was delicious but the Mac, Green Beans, and sweet potato were exceptional. Of note is the spicy sweet bbq sauce, made in house and SO GOOD! There are so many delicious specialty products in the store too. And we loved the decor and vintage feel. The owner is also a gem and a treat to chat with :)
H&K is the real deal for Q in HTX! From the comfy corner store neighborhood vibe to the excellent service to the moist and smokey meats to the local sourced products, it’s really a destination meal. Even though we arrived near closing time the meats we enjoyed were moist and juicy (the brisket came in off the pit), not end-of-day leftovers. The sides were very flavorful with great seasoning and large portions. Counter and service staff were pleasant and informative (family members?). And the basket full of local products we picked up were unique and reasonable. Don’t rush your visit to H&K…take a trip back to the slower days and enjoy the vibe then do some shopping while you pat your belly.
Not anything what I was expecting from reading the reviews but not a disappointment at all. I was expecting the typical packed “run of the mill” Texas BBQ places but instead is is just lake it looks a general store and is bit better. The Bbq was awesome and the vibe was laid back counter order and then just hang at your table until it comes. You will not be disappointed.
My husband and I had a taste for bbq while we were out getting coffee. We stopped in and loved the atmosphere. They have items from few of our favorite vendors from the local farmers markets. It’s just a really cute store with really good food. The brisket hash was so good!
We got the Pitmaster Plate. Probably the best brisket I've ever had, truly melt-in-your-mouth. Pork ribs were fall off the bone tender, pulled pork was seasoned great and cooked well. The sausage wasn't the best I've tried, a little less tender then I'd like, but certainly still passable. Mac n Cheese was out of this world. I'd recommend the spicy house barbecue sauce as well. Atmosphere is a small quaint restaurant, limited seating options, but plenty available when we arrived to pick up our order. Staff was helpful with our order as well. I'll definitely be coming back here the next time I'm in the mood for barbecue.
What a cool little hidden gem in the neighborhood. Absolutely love the old school setting and eclectic offerings, all of which is anchored by a very solid BBQ lineup. Everyone enjoyed all the different meats we sampled, including the boudin which was a welcome twist. Wish there were still more spaces like this around these parts, will definitely be back.
Absolutely outstanding Barbecue from Henderson & Kane General Store! 🔥 They catered a barbecue luncheon that was nothing short of phenomenal. The brisket was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, while the turkey and chicken were just as superb—perfectly cooked and incredibly delicious! As for the sides, each one was spot-on and paired flawlessly with the meats. A big shout-out to Dustin, who went above and beyond! The delivery was seamless, the presentation was impressive, and the attention to detail was clearly evident. Hands down, I think Henderson & Kane has the best barbecue around. If you’re looking to impress a crowd or just want exceptional barbecue, look no further. Highly recommended! 👏🍖
This place is amazing! We got the combo plate with brisket, ribs, Mac and cheese, and green beans and loved every bit. Bobby helped us greatly by explaining the concept (store, wine, BBQ, where to order it all) and he checked up while we ate to make sure everything was satisfactory. Could not recommend this place more!
I must say, I never anticipated discovering another barbecue establishment that would astound me, but here we are. Without a doubt, this establishment ranks among the top three barbecue joints in Houston. If you have not yet had the pleasure of dining there, you are truly missing out on an exceptional culinary experience. We purchased our brisket by the pound, and the smoked turkey was simply delectable. Additionally, do not forget to inquire about their sauces, as they serve as the perfect complement to this mouthwatering meal, elevating it to new heights of flavor. Personally, I found the spicy sauce to be particularly enjoyable.
Planned to visit after watching The Texas Bucket list, and today was the day. I was not prepared for it seeming as general store as it does; it is pretty cute. This was reinforced by someone coming in and buying a gallon of milk while we waited for our order. . We ordered a potato stuffed with brisket, biscuits and gravy, and a link of cheddar jalapeno sausage. We didn't have to wait long, and then we tucked in. . The brisket on the potato was awesome. It wasn't chopped into a mince like most that I've had. Rather, it was more like slices of brisket. It was well seasoned and not too lean; just how I like it. The potato had a salt crust, which was fabulous. I was half way through before I realized I hadn't added sauce. That's how good it is. The only nit is that I like pickles, jalapeno slices, and onion with my brisket potato. . My wife enjoyed her biscuit and gravy. I didn't try it, but the sausage patty was good. . We shared the sausage link. It had a great flavor, but was a little looser than my preference. I prefer some more snap. But it also suffered because I was so full after the potato that I may not have given it full justice. . My wife enjoyed a mimosa. I had a very good craft beer that I could not finish--I was stuffed! . This hit all the marks. Very local, cute, good food. I didn't even talk about the coffee bar. Well worth a visit.
Hands down the best BBQ I’ve ever had. The brisket was incredibly moist and tender, packed with flavor. The mac and cheese was rich, creamy, and indulgent, but the real standout was the ribs. Absolutely mouthwatering. I couldn’t finish everything, so I took some with me on the plane back to Virginia. It somehow tasted even better the next day. I’m still thinking about those ribs and already dreaming about my next trip to Texas just to get more. I really wish I had ordered extra. The service and atmosphere were just as great. Super relaxed and welcoming, which was perfect after being out in the heat and craving a hearty lunch. Soft jazz was playing in the background, and a few people were working quietly, which says a lot about how comfortable and laid back the vibe was.
This was my first visit here and it was perfect. I ordered the combo plate made up of brisket, sausage, potato salad, and slaw. It was all excellent. But their brisket is beyond excellent. It had the perfect amount of bark and the taste was superb. I was in bbq heaven. I loved the sides and the service was spot on, both prompt and friendly. I will be back!!
Do not, I repeat DO NOT skip the Oreo tres leche!! Chill BBQ spot with quick order at counter service, this fit our needs after visiting a nearby park. Service was great and we were offered suggestions when questioning menu items, bonus RJ rocks!! I’d recommend the creamed corn and sweet potato & kale over the potato salad (tried my friends and the potato salad was too mustard forward for me).
Intimate, welcoming and friendly environment. I ordered the brisket tamales; great choice. My husband ordered brisket nachos, they were truly loaded, full of meat. Thanks for a great experience. 😋
Breakfast taco hidden gem. Highly recommend coming to this place. Great coffees. They have oat and almond milk substitutes. This place knows how to do BBQ. The meats were all incredible and we vowed to come back for other meals. In addition to the food, the actual shop is one of a kind as well. You will not be disappointed.
H&K catered our event. Everyone loved the food. We had brisket, chicken, pork, creamed corn, mac n cheese, and the garlic green beans. H&K were so easy to work with in planning the food for the event. They did a great job of setting up the food line, keeping the trays filled and cleanup. Definitely will use them again to cater.
Location: by Washington and Houston's ave Parking: street parking/limited Staff: super nice and friendly. Sarah was phenomenal, had a little hip up and she did not made it awkward at all. Wait time: @10minutes for food to be ready Seating: both indoor and outdoor Price: higher than average $7.50 for brisket taco with egg and beans. Drink: went for latte and it was good Food: they had bread sample with butter and jalapeño bread was delicious with the garlic butter. I had a brisket taco and I believe it's per brisket taste. I like my brisket more towards the burn end and I think me letting them would have helped my experience. Overall great place to try with lots of great items and phenomenal service.
Wow. Amazing all the way around. Wildly surprised by this place... very unassuming BBQ joint... yet, an easy 5/5 and one of my top 5 BBQ places in Texas. Incredible turkey, chicken, sausage, ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. In that order, but all around very very good. Nothing was disappointing at all, you'll love anything you order. Very happy with their chicken and turkey, and I'm normally a brisket guy. Their spicy BBQ sauce was so good I had to go buy a bottle (I never do this). The staff was great and the beer selection was very nice, a lot of intering and Texas based beers. Every BBQ place should have a "pit master platter" like this place had where you get to try a little bit of everything -- but don't forget to add some turkey! Great mac n cheese and corn. Very good. Very surprised. Glad we stopped by, we will be back 100%.
A local restaurant with incredible customer service. Felt so welcomed. Had BRISKET and Spicy Smoked Cheddar SAUSAGE with GREEN BEANS and SWEET POTATO SALAD (never had the salad prepared this way - one of a kind). Extremely delicious BBQ! Finished up with an Americano and house-made GINGER ORANGE COOKIES while sitting in one of the chairs outside where I could feel the sunlight on my face. Had an amazing afternoon. Thank you guys. Unrivaled southern hospitality. I love Houston.
Was very impressed with the food and service here. The Brisket was very moist and was cooked to perfection. The ribs were great as well. We got chips and queso, it was a large serving and had a good Smokey flavor. The restaurant is in an old corner market and sells a lot of local made foods and goods. Will be going back next time I’m in the Houston area.
Delicious BBQ and the staff is great. Wish we lived near by! The jalapeño sausage is spicy and I love spice, it definitely had a kick to it. Sauces supplied were great and about 3 options at the table. Very much a neighborhood spot, seemed like staff knew many regulars.
Great food and atmosphere! I ordered the Mac and cheese with brisket and was not disappointed. The mac and cheese was super creamy and the brisket was cooked to perfection. Definitely would visit again to try other items on the menu.
The over all experience was nice it was my first time and I’m a real foodie saw rating and thought I would try it out for my self and it wasn’t far which made it that much more convenient as a appetizer we got the nachos smoked brisket it was amazing the chopped brisket was already glazed with their bbq sauce if I’m not mistaken which wasn’t over powering and went well with the other topping i felt like the chips and topping ratio was great and just know the portion is well enough to get full alone if your a single person maybe even with two people great for sharing , we also had the pit master which included selected meat (shredded pork, chicken thigh, brisket , jalapeno cheddar sausage)now the sides I wasn’t wow’d with the flavors I liked the corn I just think if they buttery and creamy they would been better , we also had Mac and cheese that wasn’t the best I would of liked them the be cheesier like a baked Mac and cheese gooey and the potatoe salad taste mostly like mustard more than any other flavor it was definitely over powering to me , on the platter it also came with 4 big thick slices of Texas size bread , shredded onion , sliced jalapeno and pickles and they also have a in house bbq sauces , a lot of local products which I loved most , I give this place a 8-10 I actually like the meat more then pit room would definitely come back for more nachos and meat for sure
Exceptional! The food was absolutely amazing. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is very welcoming and inviting. The staff were very nice and they had a big variety of drinks, wine and merch. Even some extra things that people sell locally. I highly recommend! This is some of the best bbq I’ve ever had! THE CHEESECAKE OMG!!!!!! TO DIE FOR❣️❣️❣️
This place is absolutely charming. I loved the tiled floors, the little grocery-store vibe, and the beautiful music. It all creates such a warm, inviting atmosphere. The service was genuinely kind and welcoming. Everyone was happy to answer my questions and so patient throughout, which made the experience even better. The food was fantastic. While the brisket leaned a bit dry, the flavors of the meats more than made up for it: smoky with a subtle, fruity sweetness that felt unique and thoughtful. The real standout, though, was the jalapeño cheese sausage: juicy, perfectly spicy, and impeccably smoked. I’m still thinking about this place the next morning.
I have nothing negative to say about this place. Perhaps maybe a little more bbq sauce variety would really out this place over the top but we found the brisket and the turkey to both be outstanding. We also had the Cole slaw which was good and I really enjoyed the jalapeno cream corn. The staff was super polite and helpful and their recommendations were spot on! Eat in on the many tables it get it to go. They will accommodate you.
My partner and I went on a double date here just yesterday. The customer service was through the roof. We had so many questions and they were all answered with patience and kindness. The food was exceptional. We specifically loved the brisket, the spicy boudin, Mac and cheese and the chicken. All tens in my book. I’m so excited to come back.
I visited for the first time and the experience exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere, the service, and every detail were amazing. The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavor. This is definitely a place I would come back to again and again. Hands down, the best BBQ in Texas is right here.
Absolutely, without a doubt, one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and the staff made us feel genuinely appreciated, not just like another table. The food was outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and clearly prepared with care and pride. Every dish exceeded expectations, and the attention to detail really showed. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and you could tell this is a business that truly cares about what they do and the people they serve. If you’re in Houston, this place is an absolute must—worth every minute and every bite.
I came in about an hour before closing and STILL had one of the best BBQ experiences I’ve ever had. The staff was so welcoming even that late in the day, and the food tasted like it had just come off the smoker. The brisket was tender with the perfect smoky bark, the ribs fell right off the bone, and the sausage had amazing flavor. The sides were just as good — the mac and cheese was creamy, the beans were seasoned perfectly, and the potato salad tasted homemade. Even close to closing time, everything was fresh, hot, and full of flavor. The service was friendly, fast, and never rushed. You can tell they really care about the quality of their food and the people they serve. If you’re in Houston and want true Texas BBQ, Henderson & Kane needs to be on your list. I’ll absolutely be back!
I stopped in tonight for dinner, had veggie and brisket tacos and sweet potato side. Delicious 😋 they have a variety of beverages and a general store with local goods and other items. You have the option to sit indoors or outside at picnic tables. Seems like a nice area and it's close to buffalo bayou park.
This place is super cute, casual, and has many different snacks and treats for you to buy. We ordered the brisket and the chicken platter with sides of green beans, mac & cheese, and corn as well as a sweet potato and they were all on point. The service was great, very friendly and polite despite having a very busy day, we were the last couple customers there and they were still super nice.
We were in town from North Dakota, so it was a must to find good bbq. After about 30 minutes of research, I came across Henderson & Kane and am so happy that I did. Reviews make a difference, especially to small businesses! We arrived around 5:30 pm on a Saturday and was greeted with a warm welcome. There were maybe 6 customers sitting down, but after ordering, a steady flow of customers came through to get food or to shop in the store. Between the 2 of us, we had the fall off the bone pork ribs, juicy brisket, very flavorful boudin sausage. The sides are to die for! The super creamy Mac n cheese is some of the best I've ever had. The charro beans had the perfect amount of spice without being too much. The potato salad was better than my gramma's and the cream corn has whole corn in a sauce that in out of this world. Don't forget to check out the desserts. Banana pudding, cheesecakes, tarts, carrot cake . . . Take some home!
Henderson and Kane is an absolute hidden gem. I had the nicest meal I've ever had in my entire life. Seriously! Our server bobby was the nicest guy ever. Our party was visiting from Ireland 🇮🇪 and bobby went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. I had the sliced turkey, cream corn, meaty mac with brisket, texas chilli and a baked potato. The food was absolutely stunning. Truly a legendary eatery!! Up Kneecap! 🇮🇪
This is a great family owned barbecue place that offers great portions and delicious food. It has a old town country store vibe in Houston’s bustling downtown area. The brisket was very tender and melted in my mouth. It paired with the barbecue sauce very nicely. This place offers a variety of special throughout the week. I enjoyed $20 steak night on a Monday and was thoroughly impressed. Seating is limited, so come early, but this place is definitely worth a try.
Hands down one of the best BBQ spots I’ve ever been to! everything we tried was amazing and the brisket melted In our mouth!! From the meats to the sides everything was exceptional! Not only that but the service was just amazing and with such a friendly atmosphere, definitely will be back !!
Food was delicious. Meat portion was very small, sides were good size. I probably would not eat here again if I was really hungry. The food is very good though
The brisket was very tender and juicy, the pork ribs were not bad, the mac & cheese was smoky and rich, and the cream corn has a touch of jalapeño flavor. My preference was the brisket and cream corn, both of those were very flavorful. While the pork ribs and mac & cheese were good, it didn’t have the same punch. Overall, I love the old, small town feel of this place. It’s set up like a general store that sells local foods and goods with a butcher shop and cafe. This is a hidden gem in Houston and one of the better BBQ places.
Came for dinner. The food is really good. Briskets were tender and juicy. The pulled pork delicious. The baked potatoes incredibly loaded. My only disappointment were the ribs. They were pretty dry. Even bbq sauce did not help. It was more chewy than tender for my taste. The side dishes were amazing. Really delicious. Green beens perfectly seasoned with just the right crunch. Mac N Cheese is a must try. Staff were all friendly and helpful. And to top it all off, it's also a convenience store you can buy knick knacks and canned/bottled drinks, etc.
Caveat: DoorDash order I got the loaded baked potato with brisket and a side of Mac and cheese. The potato was not soft / fairly over or undercooked, but it was a good size and had lots of toppings. The brisket had a nice bark, and some of the pieces were very juicy with a nice flavor; however, some of it was a bit dry. The BBQ sauce has a very intense cumin flavor, which I personally did not like. The Mac and cheese was very average. I found the noodles to be overcooked and the béchamel was a bit one note. Overall, this place was fine - not overly impressed.
Henderson & Kane came up as a new trending spot to try out. It is definitely worth a visit if you've never been. Their menu gives options of a traditional BBQ restaurant, while also providing a Mexican twist or fusion on their dishes. It was a welcomed change to flavors and combinations. Service wise could use some work. Employee wasn't busy up front, yet provided excuses of being overworked. Drinks, utensils, cup of ice, all forgotten. All while it wasn't busy on our arrival. (Pictures show how many people were present on our visit) While I wish I could say the brisket was the star, it wasn't. It's ok, just nothing special to write about. However, their BBQ Chicken was delicious! Moist, cooked to perfection, flavor in every bite, smoke, and all. This would be what I'd suggest as your go to. Now the BBQ Mexican Torta Fusion! This was just WoW!! Way different than anything I've had. Delicious! A must order and try if you enjoy Tortas. Everyone tried a bite and agreed, the flavors were just paired perfectly. As to the tamales, stick with the pork. Once again the brisket tamales fell short. All the sides were also good, order to preference here. If you like a sweetness to your potato salad, this would be the way. Like Cheesy Mac & Cheese, get it! While there were some hits and misses. We will definitely be back to try more items. Was there a favorite you enjoyed? How would you rate your over all experience? Until next time.
Came her due to reviews and a TikTok! Worst mistake! Had ribs, brisket, potato salad and beans …got it to go and I was upset when I got home to try it. Firstly, the portions for the price are extremely lacking. I paid $92 for two dinners, Two desserts and two bottles of lemonade. Each dinner came with three ribs (tiny) And four slices of brisket (small & thin) no longer than my credit card and nearly just as thin!! The ribs were extremely dry, and the brisket was even drier than that! Both were tough to eat almost jerky like. Beans and potato salad were different, But not terrible, just not my liking. There was only a small scoop of potato salad, and the beans came in a separate container. The vibes and aesthetics of the place were cool. People were friendly enough but extremely disappointed in the food and will not be returning. Ultimately I ended up with some expensive dog food and learned a $92 lesson that day!
Wish I could give it 5 star but I can’t. Drove all the way from Katy just to find out there was no chicken served that day, nor Mac and cheese. If you are not going to serve a certain food. Please make a post to let people know in advance. I still tried the brisket which was not bad but unfortunately it was not cut the right way PLEASE teach your staff how to properly cut Moist brisket the right way. I was served moist brisket cut with the grain which ruined the picture I don’t even wanna post Such a shame, had high hopes to try their chicken
Brisket mix of fatty and moist was more of the burnt dry leftover scraps and the meat did not have a lot of flavor but did have the smokiness. Chicken was actually decent, not dry. The sides were not good at all. There was so much acidity or vinegar taste to the potato salad, beans and the cream corn tasted like it was going to spoil. We spent a lot of money here and they didn’t have all the items packed for us The cashier even asked if we wanted all the items to include in the meal and I said yes. It did not have any onions, pickles, Jalen’s and bbq sauces. Did not get any of that. It was really disappointing.
We enjoyed stopping in today. There is a wonderful selection of beverages and mercantile goods. Lots of nice canned items and locally sourced products! Lovely staff and fair prices. The only issue we had was everything we ordered was room temp. The mac and cheese was delicious but cold so we took it home to heat up. Boudin was just at room temp. Tater was mildly warm enough to melt the cheese but not warm throughout. We loved the fresh baked bread and other goods. Great smoke here so we will give them one more try but temperature has to be improved.
Is there some kind of rite of passage where local mom-and-pop shops hire employees who act personally victimized by customers? When placing my order, I was met with attitude wrapped in fake politeness, from this guy, and it honestly caught me off guard. Asking a question or making a small change shouldn’t be met with eye-rolling, irritation, or thinly veiled hostility. You probably hate your job, maybe even your life, but don’t take it out on customers. If interacting with people is this unbearable for you, why are you in a customer service position at all???? I’ve been a long-time customer at Henderson & Kane. Looks like when the owner’s away, the employees will play…more than happy to return to Truth, where I’m always happily received. ***Updating review to rate the food Food: 3 stars. And that’s being generous. Sometimes it’s a juicy 5-star hit, other times it’s a 1-star flop: dry, hard, and completely flavorless. Today is unfortunately one of those days. The only thing making the ‘fatty’ brisket edible is the BBQ sauce, but the entire point of a great BBQ is not needing to drown your meat in sauce to give it flavor. Excellent BBQ should be juicy, well-seasoned, and stand on its own. Signed, A very disappointed local who has supported H&K over many years.
This is a $20 plate with two sides. I did get a 50% off because I was wearing my bib from the Chevron Marathon but come on! This is terrible! They even forgot the bread! These are hard times as it is! I needed a place that had a discount I am single and on social security disability don't forget the bread! And add a little more brisket!!! I am so disappointed. NEVER going back. Leo my server was the sweetest server I EVER had though! Excellent service from him!
