Katami was such a great experience from start to finish. We came for my sisters’ birthday dinner and had an amazing time. Our server, Phi, was very attentive throughout the whole meal and made my family feel really welcomed. Another server, Apple, noticed he was busy and came by to give us tons of recommendations while we were deciding, which was super thoughtful of her. The food was delicious. I would definitely recommend the King Crab Sando, the amaebi nigiri with or without uni, and the madai tempura roll. Everything tasted fresh and well executed. They also have a daily specials menu, which was pretty cool and gave us even more options to choose from. I was eyeing the foie gras PBJ milk bread but decided not to get it. A friend told me it’s really good, so I’ll definitely be ordering that next time along with the bone marrow to try. They also suprised us with free slices of cake, which made the night even more special. We also ordered the apple caramel bread pudding for dessert and I would highly recommend it. It was the perfect way to end the meal. Overall, great service, great food, and a really memorable dinner. I’ll definitely be back.
Came here for our anniversary and had the omakase. The staff seated us at the counter, so we could watch the sushi chef prepare everything fresh. Great experience overall — the sushi was excellent and the service was very attentive. Highly recommend for a special occasion.
Katami is now my favorite sushi spot . Everything we tried was absolutely delicious and fresh . I don’t remember the name of the dishes however. The service was also outstanding . Reservation highly recommended. Update : Went to Katami again and once again the food & service was both exceptional . We had the tuna sashimi flight and then pretty much every roll on the menu. All were absolutely delicious, can’t recommend all the names but took pictures. The one that had gold flakes on it and the texas roll were the ones that stood out to me the most .
Best sushi and service I’ve ever had. Brandon M was outstanding, incredibly knowledgeable, and helped curate an amazing sashimi bowl with the team. Also met the onsite manager, Benjamin, who was welcoming and professional. Everything was fresh and top quality. Highly recommend Katami.
Best omakase we've had in Houston! Delicious and filling. Sous Chef Chris and Brandon M. were spectacular hosts, very informative and polite. Highly recommend.
Always a great experience, the dishes have so much flavour and attention to detail. The sushi/sashimi is super fresh with opportunities to try varieties of fish you have never had before. Our experience has been consistently good every time. Also, Brandon is an exceptional waiter. He has been around since Katami opened and is super knowledgeable and passionate about the food. We have had him several times already. Exceptional service which is honestly hard to come by these days.
This restaurant is probably the best overall Japanese restaurant in Houston, which is fortunate to have a number of good Japanese restaurants. I have been here multiple times and can honestly say I have never had a single dish that was even remotely disappointing. It is a little pricey and often very busy-- reservations are highly recommended.
I had an excellent first time experience at Katami. I ordered the Toro tartare, chirashi, and the apple caramel bread pudding. The toro tartare is their most highly recommended appetizer and goes down like butter. The fish quality on the chirashi was superb. The rice was also perfectly cooked and the toppings were thoughtful and enjoyable. I love any place that chooses to use real wasabi, as it’s always such a treat. The bread pudding was incredibly delicious. You must save room for dessert. It was a 10/10. My waitress was Apple and she was amazing. She has amazing recommendations and knowledge of the menu. Ben, the manager, was also very kind and knowledgeable. This was an incredible culinary experience and I will definitely return.
Katami was an absolute experience from start to finish. The service was spectacular… every staff member was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and genuinely excited to guide us through the meal. They even surprised us with a few extra bites to try, which was so appreciated and made the experience feel special and personal. The food was completely out of this world beautifully executed, bold, and unforgettable. Every dish felt thoughtful and perfectly balanced. The drinks were just as impressive, packed with flavor and creativity. Definitely order the one with the red dots… trust the staff on this one. They explain how it literally opens up your senses so you can fully enjoy all the food, and they were absolutely right. From service to flavors to overall vibe, Katami exceeded expectations in every way. A must try if you’re looking for something truly elevated and memorable.
I was eager to try Katami with how in love I am with their sister restaurant, Kata Robata. The atmosphere is definitely a step above. The menu is different but familiar. And the food was equally amazing; not better but the same level as Kata Robata, which is a 10/10 in my book. I’m not articulate enough to do the food justice but know it’s high quality and thoughtfully crafted. The additional cost to go to Katami is in the ambiance and service. For reference, the photos taken are from separate visits.
I dined at Katami for the first time last night, and everything was absolutely outstanding. The standout dish was the Toro Tar Tar. It was rich, vibrant, and incredibly flavorful. Every cut of fish was exceptionally fresh and melted in our mouths. They also provided complimentary dessert as my wife and I were celebrating her birthday. I’ll definitely be returning to Katami to explore more of their menu.
Delightful sushi / Japanese food experience. The service was exceptional, the fish was delicious and everything was prepared to perfection. The restaurant is quite large, with a nice sushi bar, a full bar with good seating and two main dining areas. Reservations are highly recommended. All the sushi/sashimi items were freshly prepared and superbly presented. The wagyu beef on hot rock was very good! The deserts were superb, with the shave ice one being made out of ice 🧊 flown in from Japan 😇 The service was friendly and prompt, with a lot of good suggestions.
All the food was so rich and flavorful. The pork shu mai was so buttery and wonderfully fatty. The king crab sando was so rich with the bechamel sauce and garlic bread like taste. The toro tartar was so good with the mushrooms. The stone mushroom rice was just hearty and warming. All the rolls were so good- we got the sake chili roll and the lobster one. The apple bread pudding was to die for- so so so good
I just want to thank Alex G, our server. His customer service was impeccable. He was very knowledgeable and never pressured us into anything. We were blessed to have him. I’ll add that it was our wedding anniversary, and we had our 7-month-old with us. Alex was very accommodating, which was amazing that made it so easy to be there. It was our first time here, and I’ll definitely come back. The prices were fair, and the food was good !!! /G\ approved. Ask for Alex G
Exceptional from start to finish! We went here on a Friday evening and did have reservations which I would highly recommend as this place fills up and for good reason. Everything from the wait staff to the decor was absolutely top-tier. The sushi was incredible and we tried several dishes and everything was excellent. Some of my favorites were the crab sandos and the chopped scallop nigiri. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back, definitely one of the best sushi restaurants in Houston.
I met a friend there for the Old Fashioned he brags about often and I can clearly see why! It was amazing! Tasted like warm fresh Rice Crispy temreats. Then we had the Milk Wash cocktail...it was beautiful! Then our final cocktail was Sin City. It was Phenomenal!!! I will definitely go back.
Katami absolutely lived up to the hype. The vibe is sleek, calm, and refined, perfect for when you want a little luxury without the stuffiness. The staff were super welcoming and made the whole experience feel effortless. I started with the bone marrow, and wow, it was rich, buttery, and full of flavor. I enjoyed it straight from the bone topped with salmon roe, and honestly, it was perfect just like that. Pure umami bliss. My friends got tuna tartare & it was absolutely phenomenal! Then came the sashimi for two, which yes…I ordered just for myself. Zero regrets. Every cut was pristine, melt-in-your-mouth fresh, and beautifully plated. I could taste the quality in every bite, this wasn’t your average sushi, it was next level. The barracuda was hands down my favorite cut. To end on a high note, I had the green tea kakigori: a fluffy mountain of matcha shaved ice with condensed milk, delicate sweetness, and the most refreshing finish to the meal. Light, earthy, and completely satisfying. Katami isn’t cheap, but if you’re craving high-end Japanese food with standout execution and flavor, it’s 100% worth it. This one’s going on my favorites list.
The rice was perfect. Fish was perfect. Fish to rice ratio was perfect. The portion size was perfect. Even the temperature was perfect. Come to Katami if you are looking for the highest quality and authentic, delicious crafted Japanese food. I have been to SO MANY Japanese places in Houston (Aiko, handies, Uchi, MF sushi, Hachi) THIS PLACE is my favourite. I promise the food and service here will not disappoint you. We had Dana as our waitress and she was so helpful!! My highlights were the black cod, foi gras scallop nigiri, unagi nigiri, seared otoro nigiri, caramel apple bread pudding, uni nigiri, and green tea ice shaving which YES they import their ice from the spring waters of japan and it tastes incredible. Great food, atmosphere and service! Great place for a birthday, because it’s fancy, and they give you a free dessert - Japanese fluffy cheesecake! The food was good, portions are small - except the Chirashi is great with 18 pieces of fish, toro tartar was good - the bread, mushroom tops and tuna with a raw quail egg was tasty, presentation was beautiful , little crabs- too tiny, but tasty. We got the bone marrow too, and that didn’t disappoint- tasty! Their drinks were good too- I had a mocktail (, and my husband got a sake. Waitress was knowledgeable and nice! A drawback - parking- there is a middle section that is self park, but the rest are valet. We were lucky to find parking on the very crowded streets instead. Expensive experience, but it was good! Would come again for another milestone celebration!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at this Japanese restaurant that opened about a year ago in houston and I genuinely can’t express how incredible the experience was. From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable , the staff was attentive, warm, and truly made us feel welcome. The atmosphere was serene and beautifully curated, creating the perfect setting for the meal. Now, onto the food: absolutely outstanding. Every dish was crafted with such care and precision, and the flavors were unforgettable. The combination — gourmet quality, perfectly balanced, and unlike anything I’ve tasted before. This is hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates top-quality Japanese cuisine and flawless service.
