I never liked liver and onions growing up, but having Sunday dinner after church with my daughters and I saw they are. Well I sampled a little and it was flavorful and good. So my mother eats it too and can cook it very well. That was my last meal she cooked for me before she passed. So now Lubys is my go to for liver and onions.
The experience was Phenomenal. I hadn't been to this location in a very long time so I found the food rather bland. The Mac and cheese was very very very runny. The fried fish was dry and just as bland and the fried okra was undercooked. Portion wise they do dish out large Portions which makes the money spent well worth it. However, the Service was truly Awesome. The Young Man that was our table server was (Avery) and he proved himself to be a Very Remarkable Person. Very attentive. Very Professional. Very Well Polished. It was as though he made it his Personal Mission to go above and beyond ALL that was expected or required to do. I actually watched this Young Man interact with everyone that was in his stations/zones. I watched him escort and carry Ppls trays to their table and help them settle in as well. I'm Very Big on Customer Service and this Young Man was CS wrapped in a Beautiful Bow. He has a Smile that could Melt Butter and a Spirit that Oozed over in Kindness. His Personality is the only thing that kept me grounded as to not return my food and ask for some that was fresher or for a return altogether. It was his Brightness that made me tell myself: I can 'doctor' up my meal when I get home. Thank You (AVERY) for Your Service. Keep Up the Amazingly Awesome work. One of the Sisters 🙋🏾♀️
Food is always so good and the waiters are fast
Great healthy lunch. I think everyone should have a good lunch once a while beside fast greasy food. You have an allots option when picking a food. I might give a 5 star, but some items on price seem high. All my time visiting, I rarely or never see anyone pick a salad. I not is the price or small portion that people don't like it.
Excellent service been coming here few months no problems GM was very respectful and staff I'll definitely be here spend my money here .good hospitality and food fresh good 👍 keep up the good job staff 👏
Luby's was very very good, especially for the price! I had the fried chicken, which was very tasty. There is ample parking and space in the restaurant, and the staff would come regularly to come check up on you at your table after ordering. I would definitely recommend Luby's to anyone who's looking for a great place with great prices!
I REALLY LOVE LUBYS FOOD,BUT MY COMPLAINT IS JUST COMPARING LUBYS TO LUBYS,WE’VE BEEN EATING AT DIFFERENT LUBYS LOCATIONS BUT WHEN THE PLACE DOESN’T HAVE TILAPIA OR SALMON THEY DON’T WANT TO MAKE IT FRESH WHEN OTHER STORES MAKE THEM,I ASK FOR A COFFEE AND THE WAITRESS SAY WE DON’T HAVE ANY MORE WHEN ALL OTHER MAKE IT FRESH.
Saw red velvet cake but it was sliced very small. Do wanted to call back and order a whole cake. No one ever answers the phone and website doesn’t list as an option. Bad for business.
Good food, excellent will come again.Service couldn't ask for more made me fill welcomed.plenty of seating.
A true staple <3 Always delicious to come eat here! Love that it's still here after decades, I have many good memories here. Great place to bring the whole family! Really nice place to relax and chat over a meal. The servers are always extra thoughtful and they love their regulars.
First time to this location and boy was it super busy! Thats great. Guarantees fresh food 👍🏽 However, I was disappointed them not having my absolute favorite meal. I've gotten it at all locations I've visited for years. It was the Bacon Cheese Steak. It Was on the walls menu. But apparently not prepared for this day 😕 I never have a plan B. This day I had too. I will return to this location. It was a great experience minus my fav meal
This staple restaurant takes me back to my childhood! My guest and I showed up 30 minutes before closing and the entire staff was very hospitable. The variety of entree, side and dessert choices was still vast despite it being so late. The staff was very helpful and didn't rush us at all.
I love this Luby's!! Food is always amazing!!!
Had not been to Luby's in more than 8 years. The quality of the food was great and my choices were healthy. I am vegetarian and they have quite a few vegetables to choose from. My wife and I ate very well for under $40.
Tasty food. Good service in all arenas of support. Servers, porters, cashier all helpful and friendly. 😔Peach cobbler all gone.
Came here to enjoy the free kids meals with adult entree on a Saturday. We were very impressed with the quality of food and cleanliness of restaurant. We will be back.. maybe every Saturday forever. ❤️
This, by far, was the best Luby’s ever. It was my first time there and I couldn’t believe the options before me. There was no way I could’ve eaten everything I wanted, but it was a sight to behold along with the down-home aromatics of grandmas kitchen! I ended up with half a baked chicken, cornbread dressing , cranberry sauce and green beans. Everything was cooked to perfection….even my roll. This place was an after-church-choice, and I was grateful for the wonderful, generous portions and the flamboyant flavors made with love. Thanks to everyone behind the glass! I have a new appreciation for Lubys! ❤️❤️❤️
Update, Sunday Breakfast tried the 'made to Order Omelet' at the Omelet Station & it was very good and prepared quickly and brought to your table by the Chef. Even had quiche today. Noticed that the older folks could get a server to bring their trey to their table. Excellent. Try - "all you can eat" Breakfast (not buffet) for $8 (excluding drinks) so appox $12. I got fried eggs , pretty hard but could have asked for over easy and will do that next time or get an omlette made fresh. Place was clean, service friendly. Breakfast till 11 am , (not at all locating).
Fried fish and 2 sides + yeast roll and drink was just 3 $store more than a burger and fries. All food was fresh.
It’s amazing to walk into a place and feed a family of five for under $35. You never know what to expect so we were very happy with what we got. Chicken fried steak, grilled fish with an almond crust, and spinach salad for those of us who like to live on the fresher side of life. But that’s not all we got we got such an amazing person serving us. We wanted to send a shout out to Avery who just was so friendly and lovely that our meal was made more special just because he was there.
Food is what I expected from a luby's really great as you can see I had the chicken fried steak green beans and Mac and cheese with 2 pieces of bread and oh my God as a Mac and cheese lovely deafening love coming to luby's when I can Waitress was very friendly and nice order to 2nd portion of Mac and cheese and brought it to me properly always kept my drink full.
Omg! I love this location. The food is always fresh and delicious. I ALWAYS get the liver and onions combo plate. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. This is our to go place for a delicious homemade meals.❤️❤️
I love coming to Lubys. Everything is delicious.. I almost always get the fish with almonds.. The people that give you the food are so nice.. Everyone is nice. We had moved to Alabama.. recently moved back home to Houston. First place we came to was Lubys..
We enjoyed Thanksgiving Lunch in San Antonio, Texas. We did not have to clean up a mess. We did not have to cook., we just sat, back and relaxed, and enjoyed the food. We had their special turkey with all the fixings and I believe it was only $13. 99. Dessert was included. For being such a hectic restaurant, they were able to feed hundreds of people quite rapidly.. Due to the large crowds, it did not take long to get her food and be seated. Thank you, Lou for making our Thanksgiving delicious and enjoyable.
I had liver and onions mashed potatoes green beans I love Luby's on Post Oak
Nostalgic... my church visits this Luby's once a month. We love the food and service at this location. Denise is our regular waitress. She's sweet and extremely attentive. There is never an empty drink on our table.
Luby's!! still has its southern charm for family cafeteria food choice! The menu is catered each day for the specialty. Roast beef, fried chicken, baked fish, fresh rolls, fresh desserts 🍨 🥧 ie The staff, is friendly is sweet. The sitting area is clean. Plus, a staff makes sure your drink refills are on point and condiments.
I had the most Amazing experience today at this Lubys Restaurant. The Most important thing that made it So Amazing was Avery. That young man was Awesome! My Sisters and I were Very Pleased with his Professional demeanor. He actually catered to our Every need. What we Truly enjoyed above All else was his Beautiful Smile. I watched him as he attended and tirelessly served literally everyone within my range of view. His Uniform was clean, pressed, and professionally Sharp looking. I watched as other patrons, thanked him for his kindness. In my opinion, he literally made Everyone feel especially Important, from just bringing the salt and pepper shakers to returning one of my items to the kitchen to be reheated. I was So Pleased that once I asked his name, I KNEW it wouldn't be a Name I'd Ever forget. I Also decided that before going back, I would definitely call the restaurant to make sure he's there just to be able to relive the Experience. Avery is someone that other Restaurants should strive to mimic. Thanks Avery for obviously Loving what you do and for making us feel like it's MORE THAN JUST A JOB TO YOU. PS. Thanks Avery. The 3 Sisters.
The food was so good I forgot to take pictures. Fried fish, zucchini and squash mix, and fried okra as well as fried fish, mash potatoes with brown gravy, and sweet potatoes. We also had the cucumber mix and yellow cake with chocolate frosting. The service in the line was amazing. Our table service was less than stellar. The atmosphere was mixed but nice. Everything was clean including the restrooms.
Food always hot and delicious. It’s not just for old folks, just great homemade cooking for everyone
Best afternoon decision. I had the Salmon, cabbage and black eyed peas. All three selections were super yummy. The cabbage especially. Wow! The service was quick and everything was clean. The restaurant was also super busy. They noticed the back up at the checkout and before anyone could say anything they opened all the registers. I'm not from this area of town but am sure glad I selected this for my late lunch/early dinner.
Got ToGo today and the service was quick and friendly. Serving size was huge and very good. Thank you
Love their homemade chicken soup. Food fresh & delicious. Staff is very helpful and courteous.
I love this Lubys. It is one of the best Lubys locations left in Houston. The portions are good and so are the selections.
We love Luby’s (especially our daughter). When we go to Houston for her doctor’s appts. , she always wants to eat there, and we have tried several locations that were disappointing. This one exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious; the portion sizes seemed larger than at other locations; the service was good; and the prices were good. I highly recommend THIS location (Post Oak Rd.).
This is a very nice Luby's. Always plenty of options on food. Clean tables! Friendly wait staff. The line can get slow, but worth it.
I ordered a combo. The portions are large and the food was healthier than most places that sell plates. I had not gone in a while but I plan to go back! You cat eat in or take out.
Great food. Had the chicken fried chicken! Absolutely wonderful. Alot of food and prices were good as well. Will be back again. Ty Luby's!
Great staff and great service. Super helpful with my elderly in-laws. Good comfort food cafeteria style
I hate that so many of the Luby's locations shut down over the recent years. This one is my "go-to" location and I hope it never closes. I grew up eating at Luby's with my family and now my children have grown up eating at Luby's. Reasonable prices, great food, and it just feels like family.
I’m so grateful to Luby’s for providing a place for families and also those who are alone in this world to have a wonderful Thanksgiving meal. Thank you to those who worked today and provided us with great food, superb service, and a family atmosphere.
Excellent service manager Chris pays close attn to all customers. He runs a very tight shop because this Lubys has The best tasting food. You must go try that location to believe it.YOU Will not be disaapointed
I must start with atmosphere and service. This was my first visit here but clearly my mother visits all the time. The young man who recognized her by name and attended to us at the table...that's pretty cool. Keep in mind he doesn't have to learn the names of any customers. That extra desire to do so is what keeps patrons coming back. As for the meal, everything was tasty. I had a well cooked piece of salmon with zucchini and carrots. My husband enjoyed a plate of catfish and was satisfied. I also tried the mac and cheese and it was fine. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the chocolate pie, but that's no big deal. Overall, a delightful experience.
I don't go to Lubys but my family wanted to go. I was very pleasantly surprised. The food and service were good. My wife told me about the luan platter, less food for less money. Found out they even have a senior discount for the luan platter so I got and enjoyed that. I enjoyed a smaller portion chicken fried steak with a choice of brown or white gravy....I tried brown and it was great, it came with 2 sides, I loved the green beans and spinach.
The good thing about Lubys is that it is still around after serving generations of Houstonians. Food is good, not phenomenal, but is good. A solid meal for a ok price.

I received the best service from a waiter named Avery. We were greeted with a smile, he assisted us with our tray's and was very attentive. Not to mention great food
I've eaten Luby's as long as I can remember. The food is a distinct experience, as it doesn't change. Its comforting that you can still get their comfort food. It's one of the few places you can get a hearty variety of green vegetables and eat a balanced meal. I had baked children & dressing. The bread and baked goods were a pass for me. Not appealing - at all. The manager and our server were SUPER nice!
Reason gave low star on service... them people at the serving station you tell them what you want and they have negative attitudes... waiters and waitresses are friends.. woman's that serve the food need to have a better attitude
I’m very particular about food being served in front of me. The food is always good and so is the service. I have no complaints.
The food was tasty but could have been warmer. We really liked the rolls. The service was okay. The atmosphere was sorta drab. The grandchildren loved the chicken and Mac n cheese.
Wish my fish would've been seasoned but everything else...PERFECT
Food is ok nothing over the top. Service is usually good. At our last visit, the bus person was very attentive to my husband. She brought him a pitcher of tea, extra Napkins, and silverware, but never offered me a refill
Customer service was excellent. Ordered grilled salmon, carrots, and cabbage... Salmon was extremely dry, and everything was cold. After it was reheated, the flavor was fair
Great place but by the time we got to our table our food was cold but our server what's kind enough to warm it up
I chose the fried fish and this time it was a bit over cooked. The salad area there seems that there is no one standing there to serve. Making it times a longer wait in the line.the atmosphere was great.
SERVICE WITH A SMAILE!!! I am not here to tell you about the food or price. Today's world needs more people like the waiter in my dinning area. In the hour I was there this Man put a smile on over 20 tables. He took the time to talk and do his job with a GLOW of JOY that spread threw the whole dinning area. People like him are RARE!!
Excellent Food. Excellent Service! The most polite, dedicated servers on this side of the 610 Loop! One and only one issue....the Cabbage Please check with the OST location for their recipe bc their cabbage is consistently Excellent. The cabbage at Post Oak is often bland and sometimes undercooked. Please consider cutting the leaves smaller and cooking until tender and ADD SEASONING. Let the old folks do it! Meemaw KNOWS how to COOK CABBAGE! LOL!
Carmen was so sweet. An amazing server and so patient with all of the visual impairments women. I know it was so tough but she kept a smile on her face and did an impeccable job. Thank you so much Carmen 💕
On November 1 , 2025 I had an issue with missed communication with one of the managers over price and quantity. I felt like things could have been handled in a more professional manner. To my surprise the very next morning management "Chris" reached out to me and we were able to resolve the matter. It wasn't a right or wrong issue but more of how to handle an issue. Again, I would like to thank Chris, and yes, I will be back to support this location. The staff is always friendly and the food is fresh, hot and delicious.
I eat out at my neighborhood Luby’s almost everyday either for lunch or dinner. Today, a Saturday afternoon and there was a large group that were done eat, yet they were allowed to stand around the table they were done eating at, talking loudly and laughing. No restaurant etiquette was displayed. They all were over the age of 65. When I asked management if he could control those in the dining area he stated,” I can’t make them leave”. I asked at least to ask them to respect other patrons that were there eating and attempting to enjoy their meals. He did so but they continued to “huddle” around eachother talking loudly. I really don’t think management knew how to address them.
This location is very popular, so you must be patient as you go through the line. The grilled chicken breast is delicious, especially if you cover it with lots of brown gravy. The vegetables are good but I wish they offered even more variety. The beverages are decent. There's plenty of parking, too. Luby's is a Houston staple and we appreciate how you serve the community.
We love Luby’s. Idc if they say it’s for old people. It’s just a staple that I CANT shake. Every Sunday it’s PACKED. The line is outside the door! So be warned, if Luby’s is what you craving, go through the week & for better deals Saturday’s the kiddos are free. Now the food… I prefer this location over the other one on Murphy Rd closer to me. It seems a little fresher. I got the chicken fried steak (smaller than previous years) mashed potatoes & Mac and cheese. If we are being honest, get you some salt and pepper cause the sides…baby,it’s bland. My mom said her fried fish was a little on the tough side & my son, although I believe he ate the bone said his fried chicken wasn’t how it used to be. My girls enjoyed their tenders but I did notice they were quite small. Maybe it was rough cause it was busy. I won’t give up on you, Luby’s!
Pleasantly surprised. I had the roasted chicken with black eyed peas, cabbage and jalapeño cornbread. Chicken was delicious, tender and well seasoned. Both sides were good and well seasoned. Cornbrea…

Today, 9/29/24 the food was not at its best. The cabbage was not cooked. It was hard, too crunchy. The Mac & cheese was runny. Just not the norm. I don’t recommend anyone eat there today.
I was a little disappointed that they had a menu specials and I asked for the Bacon cheese steak, and they didn't have it. So, I got the blackened chicken instead, which didn't have flavor. The sides did have flavor : We had green beans and mash potatoes ( were undercooked but still had flavor with gravy).
There aren’t any Lubys left in the Houston area. The food is usually good but yesterday it was lacking. We had a large group and the place was packed. I’ll go back and retry someday soon to see if it was just an off day
Appearance of food is good. Customer service was excellent. However this time eating there the food was not warm at all. The liver and onions combo was barely warm, as well as my yams and cabbage.
The to-go area is pretty quick. I wouldn't visit on a Sunday after church. It gets really busy. The roast chicken is good, but a lot of their food is a bit salty.
We were visiting from San Antonio and we stopped in for dinner. My wife had the chicken fried steak with corn and mashed potatoes. She returned the chicken fried steak because it was cold and changed it out for the fried fish. The fried fish was a lot better. I had a premium salad with chicken and the gentlemen on the pantry side was really nice and helpful. The salad was good other than water at the bottom of the container from the salad being cleaned and not spun properly. When greens get rinsed with water they must be put in a salad spinner to get as much water out before they put in a container.
I purchased for takeout. The carrot and raisins salad was not flavorful and the cornbread muffin were half the size of previously purchased cornbread.
Stew was watered down & very little meat ( like having veggies in brown water, no flavor ). Steamed carrots were mushy like baby food. This is a regular order for me, so I knew what it should taste like. Roll was hard as though on the tray for quite a while. Called, Mgr. Chris to express my disappointment. He told me to bring the receipt on my next visit & he would take care of it. I was going to refrigerate & bring the food back so he could see, but he said it wasn’t necessary. I went in a couple weeks later, asked to see Mgr. Chris. Waited about 10 minutes ,then he came out, looked at me & said he’s be with me in a minute. I waited about another 10 minutes. I could see him just standing around. He never even asked what was the problem. NOT A MAN OF HIS WORD. A worker asked if I wanted her to go tell him that I was still waiting. I thanked her, told her no & left. Just wasted my money. I don’t know how he is still a Mgr. With his attitude. When Alma Allen was sponsoring a lunch( salad, entree & a drink ) for Senior Citizen, I went with 2 other Senior Citizens . I got a carrot raisin salad. At checkout, he said we could only get Jello. He went to get the Jello & threw the salads we had in the trash( a waste). We now go to Luby’s on Fannin/OST. Better management, better food.
This is my first time eating at this location. I was very disappointed. The food was awful. There was a sign that stated if you want seafood, to request it. We asked for fried shrimp and they stated it would.be a 30-minute wait. We then ordered friend chicken because it was ready. It tasted like it was reheated and difficult to chew. We asked them to change it out. They offered a substituted item and charged the difference. The staff seemed unhappy. The server, Avery was so nice and greeted us with a smile. This young man was the only positive part of our dining experience.
I had the chopped steak but it was actually more like a Salisbury steak, hamburger patty. First bit was the meat and rice and my rice was hard. Came to find out all my rice was hard. And the me…
This particular location is a bit stuffy. Not once did a server come to my table or check on how things were going or simply ask if I needed a refill. I left 3/4 of everything I ordered and walked out. The atmosphere and food were less than desirable. I am use to Luby’s attention of service closer to home.
The food was one step below hospital food. The service from the servers behind the counter was horrible. The food that was served was cold and had to be sent back.

The almondine fish was soooo dry and tough. It was obviously sitting there for a while. My husband ordered the fried fish, which was also apparent it was sitting under the lamp for a while. In addition, it was saturated in oil. The cornbread was so dry and bland. The food here is terrible!! Although the food was NOT good, what I couldn't get past was the horrible service we received. The only person who was friendly was the cashier. The ppl serving the food was very rude. We completely felt as though we were bothering them. Obviously, they were NOT happy to be there. I will NEVER again go to the location on post oak. Customer care is truly the key to keeping customers. Would've been much happier at whataburger!!!!
I really had a taste for homestyle food. I was hoping to get some collards and yams but the selection of sides was very limited. Maybe it's because it was 7 pm. The food here is so bland, I thought I was at the one on Veterans Memorial or at Cleburne's cafeteria . The chopped steak was bland and had a hardened outside, the fish almondine was bland, and the cabbage was big chunks of bland white leaves. One of the servers asked if I wanted gravy but she was too busy joking with her co-worker to hear my response. This location nowhere near matches the old Lubys near Almeda and MacGregor in taste. This food was not worth $26. Plus there's a 5% fee for to-go orders. I cannot comment on dining in. I doubt if I'll ever come to this location again.
My goodness, how this place has gone down. People still streaming in the door, but the quality of the food does not warrant it! One of our orders was supposed to be 3 pieces of fried chicken. It turned out to be a huge wad of a fried to inedible, rock hard, something else: once smashed open, there was no meat of any kind to be found! The worse “food” ever. Tiny plastic containers, priced over $3.50 each, was said to contain salad: huh? If not for the reliable side(starches, green vegetables) selections, we would have been starved, as well as robbed! So disappointed . The minuscule pie slice, meant for dessert, was also inedible. I can honestly say, the home style cooking I loved and remembered at Luby’s is now something I will never try to resurrect from there again. Adding insult to injury, I had a guest that I had hyped the place to! Never 👎 again will I go there again.
It was pretty chilly today so I wanted a good hot meal. Lubys came to mind all though it's been a couple years since I have eaten there. I picked up to go. It was all cold and I reheated it and was totally disappointed in everything except the tarter sauce for my fried fish. The fried fish tasted nothing like it used to and it was tough and mostly breading. The mashed potatoes tasted like a horrible box instant. The fried okra had a flavor nothing like it is supposed to and even the smell was unrecognizable. The big fluffy rolls are not small flat and tough too. What a waste of time and money. I would rather them up the price for inflation than lower the quality. They should go ahead and close all locations now.
First person in the door and ask for liver and person serving told me don't have it,repeatedly told didn't have and it would take a long time before it's ready.I had too ask someone I though was the manager that went into the cooking area and he told it would be ready in 5mins.The ladies that kept telling me it would take a long time needs to just be honest about what you are doing and saying to the costumers. After getting my food nothing tasted like what it should. The only thing I enjoyed was the lady that had the area where we sat back by the big round table 💯
This is the worst Luby's I have been to. I must say they had a large serving staff, but some were laughing and talking, some were in lala land just standing around. I spoke to the manager, and he said he didn't see anything wrong with his staff. I was in line for over 30 minutes, which is totally unacceptable. The group that I met there had finished eating, but was nice to wait on me.
Why does the interior lobby smell like a homeless family of 4 urinated all over the walls? Food designed for hospice patients. The service staff is this establishments only saving grace.
avoid at all cost. they switched up prices after you order. never seen such a small salmon an I've eaten at every lubys in the city this is by far the worst.
I am so disappointed with this Lubbys, I ordered fried fish, Dressing and mash potatoes. The fish and dressing were ice cold, my server was understanding and took it back. She returned with the same piece of fish, how do I know because it still had a lemon seed on it, the fish was hot and now the texture was like rubber from microwaving it. I understand why they have all these 1 star's, whoever is running this Lubbys need's to be replaced.. The staff was courteous and the atmosphere was acceptable.
Horrible experience here this past Sunday. My wife and I went to have a nice Sunday dinner and everything turned out to be bad. I got the fish and hush puppies, on the line there was Talipia filets what I received was a big fried rectangle fish patty, she had smothered pork chops it was more bone than meat. The fountain drink machine was out of order so all you had was sweet or unsweet tea. 50 bucks wasted!
Price to high for none quality food more crust than meat.. update 6 years later still the same crap food bland fried chicken hard to eat no meat nothing but crust there fish always looks burnt onetime I got the liver no flavor and chewy. I only go here because my mother likes to come here. They need new Management that cares, Cooks and especially Servers they always look like they have and attitude problem.
have not been there for a while, so I thought I would give it another try. I got chicken strips and my husband had pork chops, to go. The Pork chops were a bit smelly and over seasoned, I'm guessing to hide the odor. I was so upset I was not able to cut my chicken it was so rubbery like, we had to stop eating. such a waste of 45 bucks for 2 meals. Didn’t learn my lesson. Went back in 2025, my chicken soup chicken had left over breading, this makes me think they recycle their chicken strips into the chicken soup. Also not sure what this white slimy stuff on the fish is… yuk
