Awesome neighborhood place! Check it out. German style food, tons of beer options, and friendly staff. It’s barely OTL but feels like it should be ITL.
Searching for some delicious German food? Look no further! This is the closest to authentic German food we could find in Houston (MUCH better than the more known options…) and we should know, as my wife was born and raised in Bavaria. So far we tried their pork shank (#1 recommendation), Schnitzel, Schweinebraten, warm potato salad (also BOMB!) and braised cabbage. All of it was very tasty! Another gem is their Mr. Green cider, you should absolutely try it if you love green apple flavor. The people working here are extremely friendly and kind. We will be back yet again! :)
Great German food - Knackwurst + Pork Schnitzel are Brilliant - expansive selection of great craft beer - can't wait to try more from the menu!
We were in the parking lot for a different restaurant and saw this place. It intrigued us, so we called an audible. Lots of local brews on tap, a very cool music theme, and a good atmosphere. I am not from here, but if I lived near, I would come back. Food was also great. I had a schnitzel sandwich. Tasty.
A great place for german/european food, with a fantastic beer selection. The schniztel is my go-to, but their other food is also excellent. This is honestly our favorite place we like to go in the neighborhood since we moved to the area. Hopefully some great places like this also start to pop up, as right now Watershed is leading the pack.
Amazing beers, delicious food, cool environment…what more can one ask for! A great place with a unique and inviting atmosphere that feels like home. The Apple walnut & Brie salad is incredible, the Turkey club is to die for, Kohlrouladen and schnitzel are huge delicious portions...my goal is to try everything. I seriously can’t get enough of their food! Bring all your friends!!
Watershed was my first introduction to authentic German food and I love it.🇩🇪 I host pub quiz there on Tuesdays, so I’ve tried lots of the delicious things on the menu, but I do have a few favorites: The Königsberger Meatballs! The lemon caper cream sauce is divine.☄️ The Kranken Burger and these caramelized onions 🍔 Fish and Chips that will make Scotland take notice. 🎣 and the Käsespätzle- You have to try this.🧀 They have craft beers to satisfy any craving. Whether it’s a stout, a lager, a hoppy IPA (not my thing, but to each their own), local brew, cider, or a tangy delicious sour (now that’s MY thing) you’re hankering for, they’re 🍺gonna have it. Or try something new: maybe they’ll have a lambic.🍷 And, I saved the best for last: the decor. I don’t know if Eric makes the posters or commissions them, but the Watershed-themed nostalgic movie poster 🎬recreations are brilliant and all the Astroworld/Astrodome ⚾️references add to the Houston nostalgia! The music cassette backdrop behind the beer pulls harkens back to the youth of GenX and they’re not done yet! Because next there are the concert posters from Houston venues from 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago all around!🎫🎸 Watershed is a great place for dates, hanging with old friends, pub quiz night, board game groups, watching the game, or sitting out on the patio. ⛱️Check it out, you’ll like it. Check the hours before you go. They are different on the weekday and weekends.📆 Try the Bretzel. It’s Delicious! Don’t forget the ice cream!🍨
Just a delight to come here. Trivia night was fun! The pork shank was divine—somewhat similar to what you get in Germany. There were pieces of unsweetened apples cooked inside pork. The masked potatoes, as well as fries, were pretty awesome. Fried fish was light and flaky. The beer selection was stellar (keep the 512 pecan Porter). Fried pretzel rolls were ok, but mustard and cheese were really good. Overall, the staff was so incredibly accommodating.
From the homemade pickles, sauerkraut, and bacon... To the cheesiest beer cheese & crispy local bread... This place blew our minds. As a former entrepreneur in the restaurant biz, I know how hard it is to pull off a great idea. This place did it. Do yourself a favor, GO! (P.S. they push Katz tea & cane sodas.. YAY!)
Fresh German! Loved the kasespatzel (like homemade mac n cheese but with chewy spatzel) and warm brussesls/carrot salad (very mild smoky flavor). Best fish n (incredibly perfect) chips -- batter where you could actually taste the beer! Friends had beautiful schweinebraten plates with silver dolkar potatoes and mild sauerkraut. Super friendly staff and mask-conscious crowd. Will be back!
Cozy hidden gem right of 610 and W. Belfort. Mix of bratwurst, schnitzel and salads, smoked wings and burgers. A little something for everyone. Drink menu boasts a colorful variety of beers and mix of wine and prosecco, pure sugar cane lemonade and root beer .Kids menu has grilled cheese sandwich with choice of side, hooray!!!! A nice grown up place to eat and enjoy an adult beverage while enjoying lovely Houston weather on their spacious patio.
If you've never had German/American cuisine then this is definitely a spot you want to check out. Watershed has a really nice "neighborhood/hangout bar" vibe and it's very warm & welcoming as soon as you walk through the door. They've got a great selection of 30 craft/imported beers on tap and wine. We ended up ordering the pretzel bites w/beer cheese & dijon mustard, bratwurst, roasted pork shank, and the kasepatzle. We really enjoyed everything but that bratwurst & the kasepatzle really won us over. Staff was super friendly and gave great recommendations for newbies like us. We'll be stopping by again soon!
The food was high quality. The fish and chips were very good, though the portions aren't particularly generous. The sausage sampler and the Kohlrouladen were typically German. Side note, the Germans are not world famous for their cuisine, lol, but the quality was good. Now let's talk price. It's expensive. You can't normalize it by saying eating out is expensive - even adjusting for inflation it's high. Two entrees, one appetizer, and a soft drink = $75, incl. tip. The service is fine and the atmosphere is casual and friendly. It's hard to reconcile that informal atmosphere with the prices.
This is a pretty chill neighborhood-feel kind of bar. Lots of drafts on tap and somewhere you don’t have to worry about finding a seat or getting served due to overcrowding. We ordered a salad and the greens tasted really fresh. Only thing overpowering the salad was the big and frequent chunks of red onion. They should’ve been sliced thinner and/or sautéed. Also, I ordered a side of fries and it was a pretty small portion. Definitely not shareable. Other than that, everything else was pretty good.
Was looking forward to trying this place but, unfortunately, it's a "No" for us. Service was super friendly and our entrees came out in a timely manner; however, menu was pricey for what you get (compared to similar places we've patroned); place was freezing (had to sit by a window to get some heat from the sun, but the AC was still blowing hard on us); Hubby's sandwich was dry (to add jaeger sauce on a sandwhich was $5!! At least 2 Tbs of sauce could have been complimentary!) and fries portion was miniscule; lastly, my cabbage rolls (w/nothing else, just the rolls for $19) was bland and the tomato sauce was too salty. They do have great reviews, so please do give them a try for yourself; your experience may be better.
