The best place ever the food , service , atmosphere was everything. The drinks were great as well. Sushi rolls came out fast no long wait . The sever Michelle was great she’s a bar tender! The manager greats at the door but I think he was just there at the moment. But overall my first time here and I will be back multiple times ……..
Just a quick Sunday Funday review as I hopped back into Houston. I stop at Soma for some afternoon sushi off the recommendation of a friend- and let me just say it was delicious! I had a variety of everything from edamame to salmon rolls, dumplings, and their mini tacos! It was all tasty and all under the Happy Hour prices which applies all day Sunday!! 🙌 The atmosphere at the bar was fun, fun, fun- lots of people just getting their Sunday drinks 🍹 on which made for a festive mood. The bartender Tory was SUPERIOR!! If you decide to drop by ( now I’m recommending it!) please stop by the bar and see Tory!! Happy Eating ! 🍣
I will be going back. The food was amazing and the chef recommendations were perfect. The tuna and goat cheese was delicious and the gallardo roll was so good it didn't need wasbi or soy sauce. The Chef's Choice Omakase was the best sushi I've ever had. Not to be outdone, the pastry chef's vanilla creme brulee was the perfect ending to this meal.
Came here the other day with a friend, and we had a great time! The vibe of this place is cool, and the service was great. The food was also good! We ordered edamame and crab cakes as an appetizer and the mini destiny nigiri, crispy maki, and crazy Irishman roll as mains. We also ordered drinks- the lychee martini and the calpico highball. Both drinks were really tasty, and I would definitely order them again!
I never thought I’d love sushi this much, I became a regular after trying their Crazy Irishmen. No where in Houston does another restaurant serve this sushi, it is the best sushi I have ever tried. I love their wagyu dumplings! The spicy miso ramen is to die for, it has the perfect amount of spice to where it is still enjoyable. We also tend to enjoy their steak and rice. I love the service here, the atmosphere is tranquil so there is never any commotion and it’s a quiet restaurant I enjoy dearly.
I had awesome experience at Soma Sushi in Houston. Seriously, the sushi was incredible – freshest, highest quality sashimi I've had in ages! And the service? Top-notch! Millie, our lovely waitress was absolutely amazing. So attentive and friendly, she really made our dinner special. Plus, Kiet, the manager, gave us some fantastic recommendations – he clearly knows his stuff. We started with his suggestions and weren’t disappointed! They also have a great happy hour, which is always a bonus. Overall, Soma Sushi is a must-try if you're in Houston. Huge thanks to Kiet and Millie for making our night so great!
Soma Sushi has done it again! Served up good food, excellent service and the best lychee martini on the planet! Their $5 martini Tuesdays and tasty happy hour menu are a real treat and makes Soma a great social gathering for me and my friends. If you haven’t treated yourself to Soma Sushi on Washington Ave…you should. Great sushi and don’t skip dessert!
Great vibes here ! Hosted my wife’s birthday dinner and the team was amazing to work with. We were very taken care of. The menu was delicious , everyone was able to find something they enjoyed. The vibes are great, nice music and ambiance. Thank you Soma !
Went for dinner with wife. Menu had many fusion sushi roll items that were reasonably prices. Ordered two different rolls (beef and tuna) that were both good. Also ordered the sashimi bowl that had ten different raw seafood that includes more common fish and less common sashimi such as kinmedai and halibut. The sashimi also came with freshly grated real wasabi which was a great surprise. Highly recommended for folks looking both to enjoy some interesting sushi rolls and folks looking to find a variety of high quality sushi and sashimi near the Heights.
For the main dish, the rice bowl topped with sautéed vegetables, beef, and a sunny-side-up egg was pure comfort in a bowl, savory, satisfying, and full of umami. The service was polite and paced just right, letting us enjoy our time without feeling rushed. The attention to detail, from the plating to the table setup, really elevated the experience.
If yall haven’t been to Soma Sushi, you are severely missing out. Their Valentine’s Day special was incredible! $60 for two starters (we did oysters and ceviche), a roll and three pieces of nigiri, a cooked main (duck for me, steak for my husband), and a desert (we went with kochi ice cream. Greated with a rose and sent home with freshly made macrons. What more could you ask for!
Hands down the best happy hour spot near by. Walked from my pedicure a block away and had a well drink on happy hour $8! The best small bits full of flavor and lots of variety. The bartenders were helpful and attentive. Tory recommended foods options that were spot on! Adrian kept out space tidy as we order several of the happy hour bites. I will return and can’t wait to try the next recommendations!
Wow, TLDR: Come here, you won’t regret it! We came a few weeks ago; literally traveled to Houston from Austin w the intention of eating good food, and this place didn’t disappoint! Outside looks a bit rough, but my goodness. Don’t let it deter you! Inside is modern, sleek and spacious! The girls up front were friendly both over the phone and when we arrived. We were seated promptly and our server was Michelle. She was super cool, very knowledgeable about the menu, gave great recommendations and was really attentive. The food was outstanding and came with great timing. The price point is so good, we couldn’t help but order a ton 🤤 My husband and I have been raving about this place ever since and recommend all of our friends to go. My crappy pictures honestly don’t do it justice. We also ordered a lot more, but couldn’t wait to eat it 😅 Give it a try!! And order all the things.
Really great sushi experience. Excellent service and excellent bites. Our favorite rolls were The Red Devil and The Creamy Mermaid. The gyoza was also really delicious. Definitely recommend if you want some spicy sushi. Came for lunch and sat outside on the nice patio. But I enjoy sitting inside for dinner because the space and seating is so beautiful.
When we arrived Friday night for dinner, the front didn't have my reservation but they made it right and immediately sat us down. The waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly. The drinks came out quick and so did our appetizers. Everything was delicious and flavorful. The plates were a good size and the prices were reasonable. Only downer is that they have two restroom stalls (women) for the whole restaurant which is pretty big size, there were lines and it was dirty. The place is big with plenty of seating inside and outside.
From entrance to exit, this place was a 5 star experience. I mean, even the greeter stopped at more than one table to allow us to have an option. Upon entering there was a small sanitizing station & the entire staff were wearing mask, that alone is a plus in our current climate. Our server, Jessie, was extremely personable. Her professionalism & service etiquette were exemplary. The food & drinks were amazing. We started with the Shishitu peppers, EXCELLENT flavors by the way. The California rolls & the Beef Waygu Bowl came with great presentation & even better flavors. I’ll definitely be back here sooner than later….So yummy!
This was our first time here and my oh my was it just amazing! We got here during happy and had just about everything on the menu! Everything and I do mean everything we had was absolutely delicious!! Definitely try the lychee martini!! We also had 3 desserts and just like everything else it was fantastic! Manny was great, very knowledgeable about how everything was made and just a joy to have as our server! Will definitely be coming back!!
Hey guys, Your foodie here again. I honestly have been going to this restaurant for over 2yrs and I love love love it. The rolls are always perfect. I personally like the Soma Spring Roll (fresh take on raw veggie hand rolls), the Crazy Irishman, calamari is amazing and super crunchy, and the spicy garlic edamame is always good start! I highly recommend this place for your sushi day or happy hour. They have 7 day happy hour. Saturday thru Monday being your best bet for later than usual happy hour pricing. Sign up for their loyal rewards and get coupons in the mall.
This place is decent. Pretty empty and big inside for a Saturday night which isn’t a great sign usually. We got the dumplings which were the best thing. We also got the blue fin and o toro sashimis and they were ok. The chirashi sashimi selection was also ok at best. We also got the firecracker roll which was good but you couldn’t taste any fish so is it really sushi?
This was my second time coming. I usually come for happy hour, even though there are better sushi happy hours out there. My favorite item on their menu is the ceviche style tacos on a radish tortilla. It's a perfect bite! They also have several spiced edamame options that are really tasty. Haven't been a fan of their cocktails, but definitely a good spot for sushi. They have several vegetarian options as well and will accommodate making some rolls without fish. 👍🏼
Walked in, no one there to greet or seat me . So I sat myself at the sushi bar. They had bad holiday music playing (close to xms) . Delicious hot sake, great unagi. Chef Alex makes bomb hand rolls. Tomago , let's talk about it.. its something one must put their soul into, it's what makes it delicious... Soma Tomago, not great. Really makes me miss and appreciate Nippon .. tomago and inari are my ways of judging the quality of the sushi... no Inari and the not great tomago left me full ,happy and satiated. Chef Alex was so great to talk to . Go and chill and eat sush yall 🤘🏽 you won't be disappointed and you won't break the bank
Came to celebrate Mother's Day, great atmosphere, i had to request they not sit everyone in the same area especially since its such a big place. The prices are ok. We order the pork chive gyoza, the korean spiced chicken wings with were basically buffalo wings with sesame seeds. The Crazy Irishman roll which was alright and the Creamy Mermaid roll which I really enjoyed. Also got the raw octopus well my daughter tried that not me lol. All around its a pretty cool spot the waitress is very slow and we have been waiting 15 after we've finished to ask for the check but shes attentive when she notices, so ill tip her great still. They need to sweep on the other side of the booths tho definitely dont wanna eat my food next to dead roaches!
