Our family wanted to try Texas style BBQ ribs for the first time in Houston! We stopped by at SouthernQ as soon as they opened since we had some other plans right after. The place is clean and inviting! The ribs were delicious and falling off the bone. The family that runs the store were very kind!

Amazing food! Four $33, we had risk, ribs and pulled pork plus Potato salad, and coleslaw. The mates were moist and tasty, for our flavours. The salads were fresh. Amazing place, but take note that they close at 6 pm most days. Highly recommended for anyone who is around the area to try. Staff war friendly and very helpful.

This BBQ stuffed baked potato was so delicious. It’s stuffed with half brisket and pulled pork and it is so filling and delicious. Highly recommend! I will be back!

Doing it ALL the right way! The Brisket was tender and flavorful with that perfect crunchy bark on the outside. Ribs were fall off the bone good, Turkey was juicy and savory. BBQ sauce has personality - not just an afterthought, like many BBQ places. Sides were equally as good, baked beans were a great balance of sweet & smokey. Get the banana pudding, it's light and creamy! Atmosphere is exactly what a BBQ place should be - it has the Smokehouse vibe with a super clean dining room, friendly and accommodating staff - they checked on us 3 times while we ate (thanks!). Music was on point too - nice touch. Kansas City BBQ girl here born and raised, and I have to say this was the best Texas BBQ I've had since living in TX for 15 years. I'm already planning my next trip!

BBQ Was DELICIOUS. Brisket n Ribs were so tender. Full of flavor. Mac n cheese and Greens were fantastic side. Place was very nice and clean. Service was fantastic. I highly recommend you give it a try.

At first I was skeptical about eating here but I was like let me give it a try.. I went in and was greeted by 2 friendly young ladies and the place was clean and neat. They had about 4 customers at the time but a few came in while I ordered and waited for my food. I got the 2 meat plate and 2 slices which was 27 dollars.. it smelt so good. Hoping it tasted as good, well yes it did!!! You know if you can eat BBQ with no sauce it’s good. I didn’t have to put not one drop of bbq sauce on my ribs tasty & tender. The sausage was also good I just kept eating them and I was full as a tick.. my sides were potato salad and corn on the cob. They make their potato salad just like I like it not too wet and it didn’t taste like mustard.. the corn was just corn. Hate that they were out of Mac and cheese.. I will return HAPPY CUSTOMER

Food: Mmmmmm 😋 fresh and delicious barbecue 2 meat plate; chicken and ribs with tasty greens and rice. The barbecue sauce and watermelon 🍉 tea, yeah you heard me right WATERMELON TEA was OMG good!!!! You gotta get you some, lol. Service: I don’t have the time or the space to adequately share my experience at this quaint restaurant. I craved barbecue which is not always easy to find on a Sunday. I Googled, read reviews, checked out the menu and made my way to the restaurant. There were vendors setup in front of the building that caught my eye but I was on a mission so I didn’t stop. Your girl was hungry 😂. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a yummy aroma followed by a young man with the biggest and most beautiful smile. He helped me place my order and answered all of my 50 million questions. I was so impressed that I asked to speak with the owner. She came out and greeted me, I immediately understood why I was so impressed with the establishment and impeccable service. Atmosphere: Clean, friendly, and the vibes were everything!!! You just have to visit and check out SouthernQ Barbecue for yourself. What are you waiting for??? Get on over there😃 today!!!

The best BBQ I’ve had. The bark on the brisket was stellar. The flavor were delicious and kept me wanting more. The whole family loved it. The smokiness was the right amount and added to the overall taste. The sausage was moist, slightly spicy and had that crunchiness you want in the well cooked and prepared sausage. The pulled pork is the best I’ve ever had - juicy, flavorful, pulled apart yet still has that meaty texture. The side dishes of collard greens, green beans, baked beans and rice were well seasoned and very complementary to the overall meal. I have to admit that I did sip on the BBQ sauce as it was so delicious. however all the meat and dishes stand on their own, so I didn’t need it at all to enjoy all the flavors. The atmosphere inside is inviting and gives you that authentic feel. The bathrooms were clean and presentable. The tables were clean and welcoming. The BBQ smell isn’t overwhelming anything it’s present. The parking lot is large although I bet this place can get busy so you might need to be patient. I arrived at 2pm on Wednesday so there wasn’t a line. I highly recommend this place! I’ll definitely be back. Note my rating system: 1 Star: I wouldn't recommend 2 Stars: Didn't hit my standards 3 Stars: Average (nothing special) 4 Stars: Above Average. Would recommend. Still looking for the 5 Star. 5 Stars: Top of their game. Great food. Great service. Would recommend and plan on returning.

Friendly staff. Good communication. Let me know what she recommended. The brisket was pretty good. Ribs were OK. I personally didn't like the smoked chicken, but my uncle did. Also, it was the first time I tried banana pudding and will be learning how to make it.

Oh my goodness… absolutely delicious! The rib meat quite literally fell off the bone, brisket was moist, and sausage was packed full of Cajun flavor. Potato salad was creamy and tangy. Cajun rice was cooked perfectly and had lots of flavor as well. The banana pudding wasn’t too sweet which I liked, though I do wish there were more wafers! The restaurant has a cute rustic aesthetic and there’s plenty of seating available. I believe the owner was the one who kept checking in on us which was sweet of him. Very happy to have found this absolute gem of a BBQ restaurant. They will see me back once I get my once a month BBQ craving!

Finger licking tasty BBQ food. Worth the stop and make sure to pick up the ribs, beef brisket and some chicken. Their sides don’t fail. I had a grilled corn on cob with a kick, delicious baked beans and homemade coleslaw. The perfect ending was the cornbread. If you’re in the area this is a must stop.

Stopped here for lunch. After finding them on Google with decent reviews. So we ordered 2 of the 2 Meat plates both with ribs, 1 with Brisket the other with the Mild Sausage. For the sides we got Beans, Greens and then Mac & Cheese. They were all really good probably in my opinion the better part of the meal. As for the meats they were good but I'd say average. Some of it was a bit dry. But it was good. It had good flavors and a nice sauce that went along the well with the meat and made it taste better. The woman that helped us was very nice and she brought the food out in about 5 or 6 minutes, so really quick. We were just passing through on the way to Galveston, I think I'd try them again if I was in the area.

Hey google family This review will be just for my beef rib plate. We visited here on Valentines and it was so amazing we went back the next day which was a Sunday bc my husband have been trying to try their beef tips but it’s always sold out so we went early and he enjoyed his beef tips the machine was acting crazy with my card but the waiter was very patient in trying to get it to work so their customer service is top tier and so is their timing but I’m not a fan of ribs with a lot of fat and this time all three of my beef tips had a lot of fat and hardly any meat so I was left with really just my sides and the little meat I could get off the ribs I will take some of the responsibility bc it was good the first time I didn’t check my food before I left but I was disappointed this time when I got the food it might make a difference the time of day you go as well so I will trying them again at some point and go at the time I went before and I will make sure to come update you all with the results 3rd times the charm right (the pic was taken the next day after I didn’t finish and was about to throw it away)

My Family an I ordered from here I had the ribs in all honesty they tasted like it was rewarmed up. Had me 🏃🏽to the bathroom 🤦🏽‍♂️ now what’s crazy to me is bbq places don’t charge for bbq sauce this place charges you for sauce. The potato salad had no effort put into it when I say jus bland. Sorry if it ain’t Triple J’s bbq ion want it.

We are ....or were loyal Southern Q fans, and they usually serve up solid, smoky BBQ. That’s why this visit was such a letdown. The BBQ chicken had no smoke aroma at all—none of that rich scent we’ve come to expect. Since the order was to go, our dog—who normally goes crazy at the smell of real smoked meat—didn’t react at all. No tail wag, no sniff, nothing. Big red flag right there. The chicken tasted like it had been boiled or oven-cooked, not smoked, with a soft, pale texture, zero char, and no seasoning. It didn’t resemble BBQ in any way—just wet and odd. Southern Q is usually so much better, which is why this stood out. Hopefully, it was just an off day, because this was nowhere near the quality they’re known for.
