Burger was a bit messy. Make sure you get double patty if hungry because it is small. Fried awesome. Not sure if AC was set high because it was a bit warm in there and tables not cleaned when we sat down. Other than that it was a great burger experience.
Fantastic! My whole family loved the Angus burgers, which had excellent char taste. Some of the best in town. Hot dogs were tasty too. Good sidewinder fries. Don’t sleep on the chocolate shakes! Good seating inside and outdoor patio area just outside, in Farmers Market area. I’ll definitely be back.
Both burgers are fantastic! The chicken sandwich is also solid. The fries are super slept on, and the special sauce + jalepeno mustard are 🔥🔥🔥 no complaints here, a little pricey but worth it 10 times out of 10
Our new favorite burger in Houston. We heard this place finally opened up so my wife and I decided to check it out since it’s in the neighborhood. As a bonus, the man himself, Chris Shepard, was behind the counter. We both got the angus burger combo. Burger perfection. Two smashed patties with just the right amount of seasoning, mellty cheese and plenty of crispy bits. Fans of the UB cease and desist burger will be happy. The fries were a new take. Halfway between spiral cut and cottage fries. They were awesome. We’ll be back. First time checking out the Houston Farmers Market since it’s revamp. Looking forward to more places opening. There limited seating inside but plenty of covered and uncovered tables outside. There’s even a walk up window.
Ok so this place is literally a hole in the wall but that is exactly how you want it to be. The burger and chicken sandwich that we got were cooked perfectly and tasted fantastic. The hand cut fries are awesome! If you are going to the Houston Farmers Market, you definitely want to try out Underbelly!
The staff was very welcoming and overall friendly. They brought out my food in an timely manner despite being busy. The establishment itself is the type where you can hang out and make memories with those you are close to, very much enjoy the colors they use. The food was really good. The burger was well-put together and didn’t crumble upon biting into it. It kept its form and tasted delicious. This place also has the best cookies and cream milkshake I’ve ever tasted. I highly recommend anyone who walks by this place while in the market or anyone in general. You have to try it at least once.
OMG! The food was absolutely amazing. Easily one of the top 3 burgers I've had. The fries were amazing and everything was so fresh. I just happened to be in the area taking a class and saw this place on Google maps and after reading the reviews I thought I would give it a try. Hands down the best decision I made this week while being out here for class. Do yourself a favor and go try them out.
Visiting from Florida, I must say this location has the best veggie burger I've ever had! And the fries are amazingly delicious hot or cold! I will definitely be visiting again before I leave! (I'll be sure to take a photo next time.)
My husband bought me by for lunch. Im so thankful he did. 1 of the best burgers I had ! And I have had a lot. The fries are good. I also had the shake. The serve size is huge. We did not finish it all. Helpful suggestion 2 people can share the fries. The burger melts in your mouth. New favorite burger spot!
Underbelly Burger is a little difficult to find, until you learn the lay of the land at the Houston Farmer’s Market, which opens up other shopping opportunities that speak for themselves. The burger I had was really good, but it was the fries that made me a loyal and frequent customer. Dusted with a light sprinkling of Ranch dressing powder, they are the highlight, for me, of the meal. They take nothing away from the burger, but if the burger itself wasn’t as good as it is they definitely would be little golden brown show stealers. The staff was friendly and polite. The food came quickly and was freshly made and hot. I highly recommend anyone who appreciates a good burger and even better fries “find” Underbelly Burger and give it a try.
This is a great addition to Houston's Farmers Market. The menu is only a few items and the place is tiny but the burgers are great. I had the Angus burger and I enjoyed it a lot. It's obviously more expensive than a fast food burger place but it's well worth it. You definitely get what you pay for because they deliver a ton more value. Combine with a walk around the farmers market for a pretty good time out. The menu and dining room are very basic but overall great experience.
Service was excellent. Friendly, patient, courteous. The menu isn't very large but the meat is top grade Angus or Wagyu. All the burgers come double meat. One review said that the burgers were really big so I asked for single patty but they're actually normal size burgers with a special in house sauce. Fries were unusual shape but very good and generously portioned. Dine inside with AC, comfy seating or tables outside under covered walkway. Burger and fries were great but kind of pricey. Expect to pay about $18-20 for 1 combo.
Delicious dinner style burgers with high quality ingredients. I had the wagyu beef and it hit the spot. The fries are completely different than anything I’ve had and they are so yummy. I hope they stay around for a while because I think I just found my new favorite burger place in the neighborhood.
This family of foodies thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Kale salad for the vegetarian ✔ chicken sandwich for me ✔ and wagyu burgers for everyone else ✔. Definitely get the fries!! Crispy scooped goodness. We went on a Saturday and had to wait quite a bit for our food but it was worth it and we enjoyed the nice picnic. Not the cheapest burger meal but you get what you pay for.
Absolutely excellent burger! You know it’s going to be good when your eyes and nose are happy before you even have a bite. The meat to cheese to topping to sauce ratio were all on point. Each of those can kill a burger fast. I would like mine cooked a tad less, but it was not dry at all. Most importantly, it’s not a sloppy mess to eat like many places with crazy toppings. Simple, well executed and well priced. I went with the classic angus and can’t imagine that the waygu is way better. It’s not a classic thick patty burger or a smash burger. It’s a nice in-between with 2 patties. They also had a tasty looking special which is a nice touch.
Someone in the reviews said the fries were great. THEY DID NOT LIE. Coming here unlocked a new craving that i'll be returning for from the Waygu Burger and the Fries and the delicious Shakes I absolutely left so full and happy.
Incredible Wagyu burger. It’s messy, but that makes it even tastier. The fries were in a different shape than I’ve seen before, but they were perfectly cooked and had great seasoning. Friendly cashier and line cooks. Very limited indoor seating, but there are many outdoor tables right outside the doors. A must-try!

We got the Angus Double Cheeseburger with potatoes. The burger was good. The spiral cut potatoes were great. The tea wasn't good in my opinion as it was bitter. But overall, Underbelly was really good. This is the first time I've been here but the next time we go to Houston Farmer's Market, we will definitely visit again.

Underbelly Burger is located within the Houston Farmers Market in the Heights area. I'll be honest, I didn't even know there was a farmers market here, so it was pretty exciting to see something like this in Houston. The restaurant is smaller with very minimal seating, but there were plenty of outdoor seating. My first impression of the menu was that it was pricy for a diner-casual fast food-type vibe. We ordered the wagyu burger combo that comes with ranch seasoned fries and a fountain drink. Wagyu burger - 3/5 - do yourself a favor and opt for the angus burger, I couldn't even tell this was Wagyu. Meat felt over cooked and toppings were subpar quality ingredients. For a $14 burger, I didn't expect cheap shredded iceberg lettuce and a sesame burger bun. Fries - 4/5 - perfectly crispy and potatoey. Seasoning flavor was not strong enough but it was also pretty salty. This was better than the burger. Overall, I would probably not come back. I know Underbelly to be a great chain but the price is not worth the quality you get here. My actual rating would be a 3.5 star but rounding up for Underbelly name.
Great burger, thr chicken sandwich was ok, food fries. TBH I was mad the the burgers were so small for that price. The flavor/taste kind of made me forget about that. That was the first time I went. The second ti.me something was different the burgers were not as good. I do plan to give the another try to have a tie breaker. So we will see what comes of it.
Have been wanting to try this place for a while. The service was great. The milkshakes were very tasty and not too thick. The fries with the ranch seasoning were yummy. The only complaint is that the burger patty itself was a little bit salty.
Wagyu burger was ok- way too much condiments. Very messy, very sloppy. Good Taste. The fries were delicious. Restroom is across the walkway . Fountain machine was not working when we were there. I had to get sweet tea – – it was hot and definitely not sweet enough.
This place was really good. We ordered the Angus Burger combo, and if I am back in the area, I'd definitely return. The fries are delicious, but I would have liked them a little extra crispy. The burgers are huge, I really think my husband and I could have shared a burger, but we also had just finished walking around in the Houston heat at the Farmers Market, so maybe we were just too hot. The atmosphere is perfect. It is just a small burger joint, and it is kept nice and tidy, and the music is FANTASTIC.
Dined in on the day of open. Was expecting a huge line but thankfully there wasn’t one. Ended up getting the wagyu burger with a cookies and cream milkshake. The burger was pretty good - the meat was super tender and juicy. The fries were really good and probably my favorite part of the meal. I just wish I got more than one packet of ketchup for them. I ended up getting my milkshake after I finished my meal bc of a snag with the machine but it was fine. Probably wouldn’t get it again - it just tasted like a basic shake. Good service and attitude of the staff here and recommend checking this spot out!
Great burger, cute spot with the farmers market and green space for kids to roam. Priced a bit high. Also the fries are shareable even if you get the meal and not a la carte. So we could have ordered one meal and one stand alone burger and been totally fine! Will definitely be back.
If you are craving a BURGER, this is your spot! The burgers here are made with the freshest ingredients and it just melts in your mouth! Kind of pricey but it’s worth every penny! Not too much of a fan of the fries. Battered fries aren’t my thing so that just me.
Great hospitality as usual with the Chef's restaurants... just a few items on the menu so it's easy to order & they do turn the orders fast..small venue/ just a handful of tables so w Summer forget about eating outside! Great hamburger & fries... we didn't care for the hot dog...needs more of a Wow! factor ingredients ...good spot for lunch while shopping @houstontexasmarket

Heard about Underbelly on a best if burger list and decided to try it. The burger was good, not great, but definitely not worth the price. It wasn't all that big and if you don't like sesame seeds, you definitely won't like the bun. The fries were the best part of the meal. Thick cut and really good. I won't say that I won't come back, but I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to go back.
I like the place in general. It's clean, and in a good location with a lot of things to do around it. Only gripe with it would be the price for what you get. I do understand that the location does warrant the price, but the taste of the burger does not. The burger is "good" but not $12 "good". Mine was kinda dry, and didn't have much seasoning in it. And let's not forget the fries. They were too thick, and could have used more seasoning to make up for as thick as they were. I will try it again though, maybe it was just a bad day on the grill. (Not the fries though. I'm biased and like them thin.)
Vanilla shake was excellent. The fries were not at all what I expected but they were really good. Good service, clean place. I would absolutely go back for those things. Then there are the burgers. We got one Angus and one Veggie burger. Seriously disappointed. Super boring, slightly under seasoned, overpriced for the mediocre flavor. I was really disappointed, I've never had anything but great things to say about Chris Shepherd's projects. I hope they do something to make their burgers a little more interesting, because honestly, flavor wise these are only slightly better than a burger from McD's for triple the price
The cheeseburger was good, but it was small to be asking 10 dollars for. The fries was good and seasoned really good. I would only come here every once in a while. I would Not pay 30 Dollars for two Burgers and fries ever again.

Restaurant was clean, cute decor. Staff was nice. I ordered the angus burger, it was undercooked. I took it back and said I just can’t eat a red burger. They apologized and made a new one…also red. Maybe that’s their thing. However, my husband had the Wagu and it was cooked through. Not much flavor. FYI….it’s a double patty with double cheese. Not much taste. We weren’t fans of the fried potatoes, either. We wanted to like it but I want my burgers cooked. We won’t be back.
Unfortunatly, my burger was undercooked. I don't know if that is how the wagu burger is supposed to be served but it was just raw in the middle. The fries are amazing and the actual location is great. I guess I needed to let them know to cook mine well done? I'm not sure. I've never had to tell a place to make my burger well done unless the establishment asks how I would like it. I assumed well done was the default. I didn't bother to get it remade because I wasn't that hungry afterward. The ranch fries saved the meal. I really want to like this place. I will give it another try.
The interior was very nice, quite small though The Wagyu burger was way too salty, too much sause and just overall really messy I do recommend coming in for the fries though, they taste quite good
Milkshake was excellent one of the best I’ve had. And the only reason I give this a 2*. Burger was meh. Way over salted no real flavor no sauce. The fry like potato wedges were meh. I’d rather either have true potato wedges or fries this hybrid thing just wasn’t doin it. The place is difficult to park at on the weekends because of the farmers market it’s also difficult to find. Also $25 for burger fries and shake is pretty expensive.
The food was unfortunately not worth the money. The place has potential, but for $30+ for two sandwiches and one fry, the atmosphere needs to match. Food wise, not sure why all the food was so greasy and squished. Made them look smaller and the chicken sandwhich was just soggy when the crunch is what makes a good fried chicken sandwhich. The space wasn't very clean or inviting so we decided to eat outside. The workers were also a little rude and off putting (not friendly at all). I wouldn't go out of the way to eat there. I would support the butcher shop, but the burger place needs improvement.
Beware, we ate there on 6/16/2024. We ordered the veggie burger (2 of them) and fries. We both ended up getting food poisoning terribly. My wife was vomiting and I had diarrhea for a day and a half. Not sure if someone did not wash their hands, the veggie burger was old or what. Nonetheless, will not go back.
Eli C at the Airline location was taking pictures/video and making fun of me as I tried to enjoy such a great burger but the experience was overshadowed by a hostile atmosphere. I felt violated and extremely unsafe especially with everything going on
From the moment my partner and I walked in the staff was friendly. When we were debating whether to get the classic burger or the fuego burger, staff make a good suggestion for fuego burger. When I saw they had a 15% off discount for healthcare personnel, the lady asked for my ID which I did not have with me, so I showed my workplace email. I said I could a picture of myself and coworkers in our scrubs, and the lady was like "Anyone can wear a halloween costume as a nurse." I want to express how deeply offensive and disheartening that comment was. In a time when nursing and other healthcare professions are already fighting for recognition and respect in this political climate, reducing our work to a "Halloween costume" is incredibly hurtful. Nurses are not costumes -- we are trained professionals who care for patients who are sick, vulnerable, and often fighting for their lives. Comments like this diminish the seriousness of what we do and contribute to a culture where nursing is undervalued. I understand the need to verify eligibility for a discount, but it could have been handled with professionalism and respect. I hope this feedback encourages awareness and more thoughtful communication in the future. $7.50 Onion rings were 6/10, sysco $14.75 Fuego burger were 6/10, a bit too limey Would not come back unfortunately.
