A newfound friends told me about his Chess group playing in rotation in this place every Wednesday from 4pm-10pm and its free to join. So, I checked it out last Wednesday and liked it. Yesterday, 8/2/23, Wednesday was my second time coming there. Although my commute there were both screwed up (first time, I passed the stop even though I was looking at the Google Map's bus route live on my phone🤦. And, yesterday, I got off one stop early__while again looking to the Google Map's bus route on my phone!🤦 When I got off, I asked a lady and her child (I presumed) if the Starbucks are near me__she said it is still faraway!) I was mortified for another mistake! I ended up blaming the bus driver under my breath for letting me got off early even after asking her if this was my stop for the Starbucks! UGH. 😩. I blamed my newfound friend, as well, the moment I saw him: for telling me that, " all bus drivers know where the Starbucks is__just let them know you are going there". Apparently, this particular driver didn't know! On the other hand, I should have blame no one but myself for not paying attention on the live Google Map's bus route! 👍(taking it now! So, I asked for forgiveness to both!🙏❤️) Anyways, I like this Starbucks because it's spacious: it has a patio both on first and second floor. Wednesday chess plays on the first floor's patio.👍 If my schedule is clear, next week I planned to go there early. I came almost closing time yesterday. This Chess group plays every Wednesday in this place year round(I heard👍). ♟️ ❤️ See you there?🌹

This is one of my favorite Starbucks! Even though it is one of the busiest I go to it is one of the quickest. The staff is always pleasant and helpful... even when I ask about a drink that I haven't tried or like today when I knocked over some tumblers the person behind the counter was like don't worry about it. Thanks also to the other customer that helped pick up the ones that fell to the floor. This location also has great outdoor spaces.
I like this place. I usually stop by after teaching a long day. The staff is friendly. There are usually tables to work. Outdoors seating are available during warm season. There is a second floor but I never been there since I usually order to go. It's better to order on mobile about five to ten minutes ahead of time since it is usually busy. Music is always playing. The place is clean and the environment is friendly. If you are in a rush, consider a different place.
Best baristas. Ari is one of my favs. She always gets my order right. They try to remember everyone's names. They greet you with a pleasant good morning or whatever, they smile, and they have patience unlike other locations. I love my Cross Bay Starbucks. They're so good that whenever I do go to other locations and I don't get the same service or quality drinks as this location, I get annoyed, lol.

I love how everything moves so fast even though it may seem like its alot of people all the time you never really wait to long to get your order. The workers are so nice you never since an attitude with the new set up everything just seems to run so smooth even with the crowds. I love how patient the cashier is when i ordered a drink from tiktok and did know what it was so i had to go reference the tiktok. The place is always clean i love love love the seating areas its also so calm n relaxing. Just an overall family environment.
Brandon and Adrianna in the night shift were so helpful & so kind!! I know it was the end of their shift but they were so willing to explain some things on the menu I was unaware of. Hoping I bump into them again, definitely makes this HB location my go too just because of them!
I love coming to this location. Theres outdoor seating. Nice indoor seating on the first floor. There even a second floor with indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the water. I like coming here (like many others) to unwind, read and do work on my laptop. Theres outlets both indoors and outdoors. The staff is very friendly. Theres been times when they've made substitutions and exchanges - no questions asked. It's by the 53/52 buses, a cvs and a gym. Come in for a cacao protein cold brew - my personal favorite - after a workout or just because. I love it here.
This Starbucks is my new favorite location, why? They’re the only location servicing Howard Beach and East New York. I order from here often and you can see that it’s a neighborhood staple. The staff is always sweet even under pressure. The Starbucks at Gateway Target could never!

It was one of the best I've been too.... I was actually lost and waiting there for my wife to come get, as the train lost power at a station I don't stop at. Walked to the main st, saw Starbucks (thirsty) so I popped in. Got a cold Chai Latte and Nigel (guy in the pic) was very courteous and helpful 👍🏾. Great stop spot, also has a top open deck and side area, so you can enjoy the evening there with parking. It was a nice adventure with a great ending. Thank you Starbucks Team
Starbucks on Cross Bay, Howard Beach! Offers a spacious upstairs area ideal for studying or relaxing. A calming lake views from the balcony while indulging in delicious drinks. The dragon drink is a standout, and the honey almond flat white is a must-try. With dedicated parking and restroom facilities, it's the perfect spot for a peaceful break.
It’s a busy place but very nice. The building is right beside the busy road. We should have more of these types with electric car charging stations.
Starbucks coffee is a little on the pricey side, but awesome coffee and cozy ambiance, including a fireplace! Definitely worth it! Friendly staff. Multiple outlets for chargers. Rarely get my order wrong. The Howard Beach Starbucks has an upper floor with a deck overlooking the Jamaica Bay inlet. It's more like home than a coffee place. Service is fast. Parking is competitive at all locations.
Starbucks offered efficient and prompt service. My pickup order was prepared quickly and ready on time. The sandwiches were of good quality, and the atmosphere was calm and comfortable. Parking is limited and the parking area is relatively small; however, the overall experience was very satisfactory. The hot chocolate was excellent.
This place is absolutely amazing. There is this girl named Anna she is so sweet and kind and paid for my yogurt. Me and my mom were very thankful but we didn’t have cash to pay her back. For anyone who read this review, please tip Anna. She’s the sweetest and kindest girl I have ever met.
A very unique location: open until 11pm (very useful after a full day on the road in Brooklyn / Queens / Long Island area), two levels, outside seating - and water view! Bambam, a great barista who crafted an excellent drink for me, didn’t mind to help advertise this outstanding Starbucks store! Friendly crew, and familiar Starbucks choice of drinks and snacks in a cool, rarely seen in NYC setting - thank you!
I absolutely love this Starbucks location! The staff is always so friendly and welcoming, making my stops even more enjoyable. With ample indoor seating upstairs and cozy outdoor seating, this store is perfect for relaxing or getting some work done. Parking is available and it's always a plus. I will say that it can get pretty crowded during peak hours, so it's best to plan accordingly. Highly recommend!
super clean Starbucks! It got redone and it’s so new in there. The service was great and definitely better than before. The baristas are cool, friendly and welcoming. The prices are the same as every Starbucks, so there’s that. There’s a parking lot for customers and there’s metered parking available. Outdoor seating is available also.
This is a gem Starbucks, Not alot of parking, but the ambiance makes up for it. I can appreciate a separated dining area vs the purchase area.. This Starbucks is 2 floors with a outside balcony. Upstairs has enough plugs for every station, an over look at the water and if your early, you can catch the sunrise. Another surprise is heated patio outside, with overhead heaters... really cool. Services were good. Staff was friendly
Great Starbucks, and it's big with the upstairs floor. However, it's not kept well, and they allow bumb to hang inside the place. It's not ideal for staying there to work on your computer since most of the outlets on the top floor did not work. Only one outlet worked. Other than that, this could potentially be a great place.
Definitely the local neighborhood Starbucks to go and relax and have your favorite coffee and latte. Definitely my go to. They have a lot seating area. The service here is very fast and efficient.
Fast and efficient, this Starbucks always has the sufficient manpower to pump out the tall list of orders from its bustling and busy location. Still capable of getting one wrong here and there, overall they are a good spot when on the move, and also when enjoying the tables outside and scenery. Also has plenty of choices within walking distance for dining out and all types of shopping.

This is a beautiful Starbucks located right by the water. Unfortunately, inside is a mess. It's like a madhouse with a ton of people either ordering or waiting to pick up their orders. They also have a parking lot where every car is tightly squeezed and never any free spot. There is a second floor that is much quieter.
It's in my opinion that just about every Starbucks location is very busy. This one is no exception. I'm a local and this spot is jumping from open to close every day. Small parking lot so a lot of double parked cars all the time. On the other hand, the staff is pretty friendly and I've never received a wrong order. Perhaps just a missing packet of sriracha or something like that. I'd say the worst part of visiting here is running the risk of bumping into people you know lol Overall, they manage the madness. Kudos. 3/15/25 I was enticed to try the new grilled mozzarella and cheddar cheese on sourdough. I like that you can order packets of hot sauce with this grilled cheese and that they actually fulfill your customization. I requested a packet of each hot sauce so I could try the truff selections they recently added. They made my coffee very well today. I will say, while this grilled cheese is not bad, it's also nothing special. It's not $7.45 special at all. I'm left with the feeling that I should have just ordered the egg white and spinach wrap. There's more to it, and it's reasonably priced in comparison. Was the grilled cheese worth a try, yes. Will I ever again, no. Make your own at home...
This is a great location. It's been a staple in the neighborhood for years and offers consistent service. The staff are friendly and nice. They work quickly to move the line. They rarely get your order wrong and are always helpful to make sure you're happy with your purchase. I like that there's a parking lot even though it's almost always full lol This spot also offers outdoor seating and has two floors. The snack selection is good and they offer a lot of variety. The cheese danish is always fresh and delicious. The wifi is also good. I recommend this location and will be back here again.
This place used to be good. Employees have been getting rude and not making drinks with the correct ingredients. When I confronted her she had an attitude and stated "well we don't have whole milk". While she was restocking the fridge with whole milk. Short Hispanic woman. Will not list any manes.
Coffee is good. Food is okay. However always expect a longer wait than what is shown on your app. People are always double and triple parked because they can't be bothered to park a little further and walk. Atmosphere is also very cold. Unusual since most other Starbucks have a cozier feeling.
Love the place and coffee, but my only issue the very loud music 🎶 If my main point to go to Starbucks is to have a nice chat with a friend or have coffee and do some work or study, why is the music always blasting so loud? I noticed this in many Starbucks and it is something that makes me think twice about going again. Is this a corporate policy to have loud music?
Always a crazy wait time, the drinks aren’t as good as other stores. I try to give it another shot but was disappointed.
It's okay if you order like a half hour before. Don't order if you're in a hurry. I ordered 20 minutes before last time and my drink still wasn't ready.. I had to leave. Another time I had time to wait, and asked where my drink was. They forgot to make it.
This is NOT a quick detour, nor does it have plenty of parking. Cute building, though, so if you have plenty of time to find parking, make U-turns and wait for your drink (the customer-to-staff ratio is off the charts), stop by.
If you're ordering on a weekend good luck. The line to get your order is insane and unfortunately people constantly steal drinks. Today I waited 50 minutes just to find out someone took my drink and the sweet barista who was absolutely swamped with orders had to remake it
This matcha latte’s so weak, it tastes like they watered it down.
Wonder why when I go to gety drink at any other location, they don't fill it low and tell me about ice. So when I get a venti with ice, do you give me the extra drink I paid for? No, but order it without ice and they want to ask me to pay extrabto fill it to the top.
This it’s the third time I order online and the first order they send me the run order and I said it was a mistake but today I ordered again the tall Tl lc Brsg oat E and they send me the small cup now it’s not a mistake and I call to do a claim and the phone it’s always busy
This location was my go to for all things Starbucks. My wife and I have been coming here for years and the service and coffee have been consistently outstanding. Recently there has been some change in the quality of their products. My wife and I order the same drink religiously venti dark roast with one or two shots of Expresso. Yes we're boring. Recently we have received the coffee without the Expresso shots! I thought that this may have been an oversight but it started to happen repeatedly. It happens so often now that I no longer consider this location reliable. I understand that the Howard Beach location is very busy but if I pay for a shot of Expresso I'm willing to wait for the shot of Expresso. I'm very disappointed. I believe that the baristas think that this activity will go unnoticed by the consumer...it doesn't.
It was absolutely terrible The cashier was extremely rude. I was there on february 10, 2025. She told me to move out of the way because i could not get the app to work.sje said, when uou get it to work, come back. Am I her 5 uear old child or my boss she was very inhelpful. I did not order anything at this location cuz she was extremely rude and nasty. I am not sure I will pateonize another starbucka due to this rude woman. There are plenty of other storea on the avenenue that sell really good coffee
Many years ago they used to be great I went there today for two soy no water chai which is always awesome but instead I paid for hot milk, it was a to go order and I didn't taste it before I left, My advice is to taste your drink before you leave.or have it there.
If you are looking for a place to work from and have a coffee DO NOT COME HERE. Music is extremely loud, and if you ask the staff to put it down they say no they cant. BUT THEY INTENTIONALLY PUT IT LOUDER. Bathrooms look and smell like they were never cleaned.
The food always tastes fresh, and the drinks are made to standard, but the atmosphere isn't ideal if you're looking for a place to relax or work. The music is too loud, especially early in the morning, because most people in the dining area are on their laptops and trying to work. I asked if they could lower the music a little, and I was told they would try. Additionally, for a place with so many windows in such a beautiful space to be comfortable, it needs to have sufficient heating. Everyone in the dining area is cold. I decided to go somewhere else to enjoy my work-from-home day.
First timer . Went to JFK airport and on our way back wanted to get a fresh coffee ☕️ … had a long drive and we thought the coffee will refresh us ! This was the closest to JFK and came here . Parking was small but we got one … Coffee was disappointing ! Cortado has been our favorite but this was the most disappointing cortado that we ever had . I think she just did 1 shot instead of 3 ! It tasted like milk with very less coffee .. also had a latte and it was just tooooooo bad ! Never ever tasted a latte as bad as this in any of the other Starbucks locations. .. wanted to give 1 star but have a 2 !! Very very disappointed customer ! 2 stars ⭐️ ⭐️
Having visited this Starbucks numerous times, I am dismayed by the persistently poor service. Staff members display a lack of regard for customers, dropping off orders without confirmation and frequently disregarding patrons' needs or ignoring them entirely. My encounter with the cashier today was notably unpleasant due to her rudeness and objectionable language, leading me to decide against future visits to this location.
After making a long line, the cashier asked “ Credit or cash” without giving any explanation to why. I had both ways of paying but after I chose “cash” he proceeded to let the person behind me to go first with an order of more than 8 items. I said to him “you should’ve had specify why you were asking “credit or cash” and he just replied “I asked credit or cash “. I was so annoyed I said I didn’t want anything and he just said “Next customer please “. Terrible customer service.
Worst attitude ever for people to be in customer service. I went into the location making it an adventure to get treats for my toddler and her other toddler friends, and drinks for moms. We ordered our drinks they made the first drink and then proceeded to leave it on the counter without any sort of courtesy to say order number or name. While our toddler played around we waited 35 minutes approximately for the second drink to even be made that was on the same bill. So I proceeded to ask for some assistance to make sure everything i ordered was on the bill and no mistakes was made on my end. The server proceeded to ask what you ordered in the rudest way possible and I proceeded to tell her what was on my order she just looked away walk right off and continued doing whatever it was she was doing without even saying nothing to us and whatsoever while I’m standing there with a 3 months old baby in my hands and 2 toddler playing around. I waited 35 minutes before she just rudely threw the cup of latte on the counter again for the second time without not one word of courtesy. If you’re having a bad day being in customer service is not the way to treat people who is just there to have a drink to brighten up their day.
Understaffed…placed a mobile order and it wasn’t fulfilled until I asked about it.
This location is very nasty. I placed a mobile order and when I went to pick it up it was wrong! It has happened 3 times now! But I took my drink in to be fixed they reserve my cup to another person after it was in my possession. That’s nasty! Then after 15 mins waiting they remake my drink filled it with water and had attitude about it. I asked for refund! It’s ridiculous seriously we spend a lot of money for what I for, if you don’t like your job or hate what you do then find another one simple. But I can not accept anything I didn’t ask for. I’m never going to this location again it’s the worst Starbucks! I will drive further to one.
I never had a bad experience at Starbucks until today. Even with the wait at times I never had a bad experience. Today I ran into a very rude and nasty Starbucks worker. This location is not my regular location but when I’m home I go here. My usual Starbucks would never. I placed an order online and the young man placed the wrong label on the wrong cup. I came back inside and stated the drink was wrong. He got very nasty with me and said well you have to wait. After me and him exchanged words, I asked to speak to the manager and he wasn’t interested on how I felt as a customer. We are talking about $7 .. $10 dollar coffees and the manager allowed me to understand he doesn’t care. I would never come back to this location. My regular Starbucks does not have as much employees but manages to get everyone out the door in a reasonable about of time and they are extremely pleasant. (20th Ave location) Let me not leave out the fact I waited a little while for two of my drink to be wrong.

I had a very disappointing experience at Starbucks at Cross Bay, NY. My family and I went in person and ordered 4 drinks. 3 were made and there was 1 outstanding. We waited for 20mins to get a grande beverage despite asking 3 different people to check on it (one who completely forgot or disregarded my request - He facilitated everyone else who was waiting on their orders and checked on theirs) Tbh, if it wasn’t for Steph, I’d probably still be waiting. She’s the only person there with actual customer service skills and understand that Starbucks is a fast food service. Emphasis on fast.

ordered an iced coffee and had to wait over 20 minutes. I saw people who came after me with more complex orders getting their drinks before me. So infuriating. My order must have slipped through, as they made it for me without the tag. Never happened with my mobile orders.
Ordered matcha latte with 2 extra scoops of matcha powder, almond milk, vanilla syrup and lavender cold foam. I received unsweetened matcha, that wasn't stirred, so it damn near looked like light green milk in a cup, Def could tell that the extra powder wasn't placed. And they gave me strawberry cold foam instead of the lavender -_- . Just Horrible, I don't understand why the workers aren't trained to make drink based on order, the sticker attached to my cup stated everything appropriately, but none of what u asked for was given. Starbucks please train your workers and test them to ensure they know how to listen and make drinks as asked. Don't allow people to work for you who purposely do not listen or read mobile order appropriately. How does one make a drink and add nothing I asked for including giving me the wrong cold foam. Do better!!!
I go here everyday at 6am and this Spanish older lady with glasses. I think her name is Gilda or Golda. So rude and when she sees me and my boyfriend she walks away or doesn’t even said gm or anything. Keeps ups waiting while she is laughing and goosing with another costumer in Spanish or act like she’s doing something. This is everyday !!!!
Maybe it's just me that I'm so used to getting Barista style coffee been living in this neighborhood my whole life I noticed a lot of things changing the last few years but the coffee place that I usually go to closes at 4:00 and decided to give Starbucks a shot and I can't understand for the life of me why anybody comes here everyone in there is drinking everything except coffee I asked for two cappuccinos and of course although everyone was very friendly they burned the espresso and watered down any possibility of coffee with an abundance of overcooked milk absolutely no way anyone coming here has any taste I'm going to open up a banana stand in charge $10 for a banana and I think I'm going to become a millionaire
I just love being ignored by employees. The cashier blantly ignored me as I waited to be serviced at the register. She even came from behind the counter, grabbed something, put it in the oven, and then proceeded to go to the other end of the counter to chat it up with people while seeing I was standing there waiting. I had to then ask someone who I am assuming to be the manager if there was someone to take orders. He then looked at her as she's still talking and then decided to take my order. Another lady came in and stood there waiting and looking around for some time because the amazing employee is still chatting it up at the other end of the counter with no regard to how long she's been waiting. Only until about two other people came into the store, did she decide she might need to take orders. Maybe it's store policy to only start assisting customers at the register when there is a minimum of 3 people?
Unfortunately, this is the only starbucks near me. I’m lactose intolerant so I always request for oat milk or almond milk. And so i watch like a hawk when they do my drink. Often they would not follow the request, or the additional chocolate chips, or the drizzle. What’s worse is the sloppy cup, dripping with the drink, and they don’t bother to wipe or clean — they will double the cup! 🤦🏻 way to go add more trash. I also noticed their aprons and the general work area, I have yet to see someone wear a clean one, or have their work area spotless 🤣 I understand it gets busy, it’s just hard to trust the cleanliness of the drink you’re getting if the staff can’t keep themselves or the place clean.
This was my wife’s and my first visit to Starbucks, and unfortunately it was a very negative experience. An older male employee with gray hair and a beard—who seemed to be a manager—treated us with noticeable disrespect. While my wife was ordering, he spoke to her in a dismissive tone and repeatedly gestured with his hands for her to hurry up. His behavior was unprofessional and inappropriate, and I had to confront him about his customer service. Our order was also incorrect, and both iced coffees tasted extremely off, as if excessive sugar had been added. Given the treatment we received, the situation left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. As a Hispanic couple, this experience raised serious concerns for us. We will not be returning to Starbucks, and I will be sharing this experience publicly. Customer service like this is unacceptable.
I have been coming here for over a decade and it’s just getting worse and worse. Every time I place an order it’s like they treat the directions on my order as “optional” or like “if you want to” as if they don’t charge for these ad ons. i thought the barista maybe just was new so i stopped coming on the usual day i do. big mistake. I’m not sure if he’s a manager, but he’s been working here forever. he served me as a kid. he took mine and my fiancés order today and listen, i understand he has an extensive order, but there’s no reason to quite literally SCOFF and cut him off multiple times. And then proceeded to just chuckle constantly. We felt extremely uncomfortable and like it was some sort of inconvenience to press additional buttons. I’ve worked in food and retail and now in healthcare. I know how difficult it can be to deal with people all day. But this guy has been here for so long you think he would have the tiniest bit of decency or respect for the people in the neighborhood. I’m so disappointed.
Used this location for many years and I feel like each year it gets worse staff seem indifferent to customers like just order already and move along. Food and drinks made incorrectly, one time I ordered a caramel Frappuccino and it looked like a big slushy no caramel flavor all u tasted was ice and coffee. Banana nut bread was burnt around the edges just horrible.
This Starbucks has completely lost their touch, all the years coming here and now over the last two weeks that I can say the coffee and even the frappe is atrocious. The coffee is not coffee. It’s just hot milk, I ordered two cappuccinos the expectation nice wake up call instead I got hot milk ordered a latte and it didn’t even taste like coffee. Another hot milk ordered, a cookie crumble watered down. Makes no sense. I don’t know what’s happening to the Starbucks.
It's incredibly disappointing after so many years in this community the decline of this flagship Starbucks. It must be said frankly because it's generational can the people that they have hired a very disdainful very distracted and have no sense of customer service. I am a property manager project manager and real estate broker I deal with individuals on all levels and as a member of the community I'm very dismayed and many others as well in my community and Neighbors at the level of service here. I'm standing there with drink in hand after 6 minutes of ordering to pick up and all I see is two female employees chit-chatting snickering out loud while I'm waiting for the other part of my order which is a warmed up coffee cake. I had to make a notice that I was still waiting to the gentleman that was at the cashier who replies oh we got you in a minute meanwhile I'm looking at the coffee cake sitting on the counter open sitting there for about 2-3 minutes another Patron saw the same thing and the young lady walks into the kitchen to continue her conversation snickering and laughing out loud on work hours while I'm staring at this coffee cake he had to go put the coffee cake in the oven which I didn't want at this point because now it's been sitting there by itself for 5 minutes. And he had the audacity to tell me we were taking care of you in good time no you were not I mentioned it out loud look at where she is look at the product sitting on the table out of its package and it's unacceptable for you to tell me that I'm wrong while I'm looking at it and you're taking care of a customer and she's in the kitchen snickering with a joke with the other employee and the food is not being prepared properly in an unsafe manner left out on the counter. I rarely going to rant like this but this was totally but this was totally unacceptable and this. The young lady in question saw me talking to the other person didn't even care just smirked and walked by. This is a flagship store and for decades we've enjoyed this place and it's designed in this middle class of hard-working individuals and it's definitely losing its luster you can go ahead and review with the whole community you going to get similar responses. It's not the tourist that you should be worried about it's the reviews from the patriots who have kept this place as a landmark for decades.
I'm generally not one to write negative review, but in this situation I feel inclined, to and to call Starbucks corporate to file a complaint on my recent visit. I've been a Starbucks customer for over 20+years, been going to Howard Beach Starbucks over 15+ years. I always raved that HB was the best Starbucks. The atmosphere, the place and barista was just awesome. I have seen a lot of faces come and go, but shout out to the OG baristas Jim and Will who are the remaining old crew left. NEVERRR had a complaint, UNTIL yesterday 4/13/2025 when I asked my Husband to pick me up a bottle of Vanilla Syrup. A Starbucks products I've been purchasing for years. It was $12.95 and it jumped up to $19.95 sometime last year. The cost is not the issue, it's the refusal to sale and the going back and forth with my husband (including the shift supervisor) and another Barista behind the bar "THEY DON'T DO THAT HERE" when they in fact DO. I was displeased with the situation, the service and how it was handled. I ended up having to call corporate and file a in-store experience complaint. The representative on the phone went thru all my previous transactions on my Starbucks reward card, and it does show I had purchased the bottle of Vanilla Syrup from HB location and the Macys Herald Sq Mezzanine location (on top of that I even got points for it too). The Starbucks that I know HAD always put customers satisfaction as their top priority, but unfortunately NOT in this situation.
