My husband and I went here for the first time on a Friday evening and sat at a high top by the bar. Everyone was very friendly and personable, but Karlie was our server and she was so sweet! She made some great recommendations and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We started with the fried green tomatoes and they did not disappoint. We split a wedge salad, I got the rigatoni alla vodka, husband had the pork chop and split the seasonal bread pudding. So yummy! Will definitely be back.

We were visiting the area and decided to walk around the downtown area and check it out. We happened upon Commerce Kitchen and were so glsd they could seat us. We both got the filet, anf I added the brussel sprouts. Everything was absolutley amazing. The bread pudding and coffee for dessert was the perfect ending. Our waitress was so sweet. We will definitely be back once we move.

This was a great dinner restaurant. From beginning to end, everything flowed. The salmon was a flavorful dish and the Brussels sprouts were amazing as an appetizer. The shrimp and grits were awesome as well and very filling. Our server Octavius was extremely helpful in the selections we chose. The price was very reasonable for the meal we enjoyed.

How wonderful to have such an incredible place in Huntsville! I had the wedge salad and shrimp and grits. It was outstanding—creamy grits, a copious amount of bacon, such great fresh shrimp, and a sauce I will dream about. On the recommendation of our waiter, Timothy, my hubs had the ribeye (medium rare) and it was done to perfection. His Caesar salad was also a treat with the addition of a few ripe tomato chunks. We ordered a bottle of a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc that was crisp and so SO good! We will certainly be back, look for Timothy, and try some new treats from the menu. I cannot recommend Commerce Kitchen enough! It’s worth the reservation or the wait!

Service was fantastic and the food was amazing. I had the salmon and my partner had the prime rib. I would highly recommend both! The cookie skillet was cooked to perfection for a tasty dessert.

Commerce Kitchen's shrimp and grits are nothing short of exceptional. The grits were creamy and rich, the shrimp perfectly cooked, and the sauce had just the right balance of flavor and heat. The addition of sautéed greens and a crispy fried egg took it to another level—each bite was packed with depth and texture. A flawless execution of a Southern classic. Easy 5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommended!

We ate from the Sunday supper menu that is a fixed price. It was fabulous. The four of us selected very different dishes from the menu and all of them were really good. My favorite part of my meal was the Tres Leches cheesecake. Portions were reasonable, but with appetizers, main course with 3 sides, and finally dessert, we were stuffed. We will definitely be back.

A well organized and spotless restaurant to take someone for a date or a nice spot to eat with friends and family. Commerce kitchen offers a variety of items which found me wanting to choose all but breakfast especially was on my mind. Service was excellent and the food just as good. I’d recommend the strawberry French toast as that was the highlight of our evening. It’s restaurants like these that I believe get overlooked in HSV and deserve more attention than these bland corporate restaurants.

Love the space; sophisticated but cozy. All the staff was welcoming and friendly. Destiny was very knowledgeable in the menu, had great recommendations and answered any questions I had. Food was delicious. Great portion sizes for just me. The braised short rib Ravioli was the perfect size. Destiny recommended the tres leches cheesecake which was delicious. Definitely plan on coming back next time I'm in town.

Stumbled on this place had a beer and decided to have dinner as well. Wonderful service, food was excellent, had the Ahi salad, oysters and the tacos. Also ordered a burger as they looked excellent, but decided to share one, the waitress was paying attention, and the burger came on two different plates, sliced in half, nice touch. The area itself is lovely as well. Recommend.

Very nice atmosphere and the layout of the restaurant was welcoming. I was referred to the restaurant from a person in town that spoke highly of commerce kitchen. MY EXPERIENCE: We arrived about 50 minutes before closing so I didn't feel we put the people in the kitchen in a bad spot as far as closing things down for the night. Part of our food came out Luke warm for about 5 people which was definitely odd. They kindly offered to replace the parts of our order that we were dissatisfied with. There are some things I want to double back on to see if my next experience is better. However this first go around as I checked with my family wasn't what we were expecting totally. It wasn't a totally negative experience just not what we were expecting at the price point we paid.

I was greeted by welcoming staff. The food was delicious. The enormous amount of oil that came with my meal, however, was the sole drawback. For reference, kindly refer to the pictures. Without the oil, my meal would have been slightly more enjoyable.

Commerce Kitchen has been a staple in upscale dining in Huntsville for as long as I can remember. I'm not someone who does "fancy" too often so I've never had a chance to try it as other options have been more enticing on the rare occasion when we do want a finer dining experience. About two weeks ago I made plans to try Revivalist for lunch. I showed up there only to find their hours don't match what's posted on Google and they were closed for later lunch (~2:00 PM). I popped up the street to BeeZr and Poppy and Parliament. Also closed in the later afternoon. I was trying to kill time before an appointment and I really wanted to try a restaurant I'd never been to...so I strolled over to Commerce to find them open. Here goes! The entrance is actually on Franklin Street as opposed to the square, though there is a door leading out onto the square. I was seated promptly when I arrived. The restaurant was almost entirely empty except for one pair of older women. It's small and cramped inside and there's a row of seating in the aisle of the restaurant that I imagine would be very uncomfortable to sit in during prime time -- too much moving around. I wasn't dressed fancy at all and no one said anything, so that was nice for me. I was seated by a window with a view to the square, which I enjoyed. The decor is simple and classic -- just fine. The ladies' restroom is a one holer and clean. Displayed nearby is their recent health score. CK and other downtown establishments have been beset by iffy scores recently. This one read in the high 80s. Not absolutely a no-go for me personally, though you'd hope for better at an establishment like this in particular. CK is a James Boyce restaurant concept, as are many other upscale restaurants in the Huntsville area, especially downtown (to include Pane e Vino, Cotton Row, and Grille on Main in Providence). Honestly, I've historically not been terribly impressed with any of them, but I do always try to let each restaurant speak for itself. I was a little miffed to find the lunch menu here to be nearly identical to the lunch menu I got at Grille on Main when I visited about 2 years ago. I wish they'd freshen up the menu as well as at least provide a few differences between restaurants. Although I ordered the fried green tomato BLT at Grille on Main when I visited, nothing else on the menu really tempted me for lunch, so I ordered the same thing here. I also got a sweet tea to drink. Overall, I will say the fried green tomato BLT was about the same in quality. The tomatoes were sliced way too thick for my preference and the breading didn't bind super well and didn't have a lot of flavor. The pimento cheese was good but there wasn't enough of it. The bacon was cooked well and the bread was nicely toasted. One large improvement over GoM was the French fries. These didn't have the same super mealy frozen-fried texture like GoM did. They were also seasoned much better. The sweet tea needed both more sugar and more time steeping; it was very watery. Overall, the food was pretty average. On the bright side, lunch prices are more reasonable than dinner prices. One highlight of my experience was my waiter, Timothy. He was polite, attentive, and very pleasant. He wrote a kind thank you on my check and I noticed he had lovely handwriting. He was gracious with my compliment and we had a nice chat about how he does the lettering for the displays outside. Shout out to Timothy! I will likely continue to shop around the fancy restaurants in town. Still, this is a serviceable option for lunch downtown.

4 guys, from out of town looking for a good steak. In addition to bar drinks and apps, we ordered 4 steaks plus an order of lamb chops. Not 1 plate in 5 was cooked to temp correctly. All ordered med rare to med rare+. All came out med well to well, with no char. They might actually have a George Foreman grill in the back. Sending out what can only be described as "microwave gray" steaks. Now, I understand that cooking steaks is hard. But if you sell 5 plates for $200, there is an expectation you can actually deliver something better than a huddle house steak and eggs. Or, maybe dont offer it to patrons? Just say that you cant make steaks and leave it at that. I informed the manager, who said, quoting here, "the steaks were charred, it must have fell off". I didnt eat it, sent it back. They discounted 25%. OK. Thanks for the $400 dinner

Absolutely disappointed in our Valentine's Day plans. The food was amazing but the atmosphere was deplorable. We were first sat by the back door where every drunk parent walked in with kids in tote begging for a purple cup (aka a drink you can walk around town in...if you know you know). Asked to be seated elsewhere and was told to be out of the new seating area by 5pm and made me feel rushed to eat and get the hell out. We asked for our dessert to go because we didn't feel welcome anymore. We will never go back even though the food was good...the hospitality sucked!
