Great food. Great service. Lots of space. In door and out door seating. The burgers are cooked to perfection and the friendly staff had the food out quickly. The malts are also very good. Highly recommend pretty much anything on the menu.
Retro style burger joint, with great service and food. I always get the jalapeño burger and they live up to their name. The tater tots are fantastic, not too many places have that option. Love this plane, I stop by anytime I'm in Hutto.
Top Notch is our go-to spot for fried chicken, and we usually love it. The flavor is always on point. Today, though, the chicken was barely above room temperature. Still tasty, but not quite what we’re used to. We’ll definitely give it another try, but having to ask specifically for fresh chicken does make me hesitate a bit.
This place is cool! My kids love eating here, the kids meals come in these cute vintage car boxes. The fries are delicious, and the chicken tenders are huge! Kids meal comes with two, Amazing value! I get the cheese burger and it’s always so juicy. I definitely recommend this spot, also the service is always 5 stars, kind friendly staff.
A true classic in a new location. Top Notch has a patio that backs up to a large open space for youngsters to run around while you wait for your food. The bathroom is clean but not very big for the amount of people that can fit in the restaurant. The front counter folks are pleasant. The fried chicken (2 piece dark) was juicy and delicious. The mashed potatoes are mid. The burgers are classic charcoal grilled burgers and are good. I'd probably come back.
Great old fashion burger spot. I felt like I was in an episode of That 70's Show. The staff welcomed us in and the young lady working the register had great hospitality skills. The menu was shocking because I didn't expect to see fried chicken on it. We ordered and had a short wait before our food was brought to our table. Great service! The food was all good! The burger was just the way I like them. It was way better than expected. The chicken stole the show! I wasn't expecting it to be that good. Our meals were completely demolished and we were left satisfied!
The smell is enticing. We were at an adjacent park and had to stop in. The service was great and very quick (and accurate) even while busy. The food was great. The burgers were cooked well but weren't dry. The carbonation on the soda was perfect. The fries and chicken tenders were good, but the seasoning is left to you. The patio area was nice and clean and had plenty of space and seating and didn't feel crowded when full. There was only a light breeze and no fans, so it could get stuffy and hot midday. We did have a ton of flies and gnats to contend with, but that was likely because of the lack of air flow. Overall, a good experience that I hope to repeat.
Burgers were Top Notch today! Alright alright alright… if I’m being honest from 1-10 I’d give a solid 8! This was their first Friday being open and it only took about 25 minutes from getting in line to getting our food, can’t fault them for being busy the first week they opened and honestly glad to see they are. The orders were getting called out left and right! The food was fast, fresh, and hot! Burgers are grilled over flaming charcoal, adds great flavor! We got a chili burger and double Jalapeño burger! Both burgers were excellent! The sweet tea needed a few more tea bags, and the fries were overdone but the malt milk shakes were perfect! The atmosphere was kept classic like the original and feels like you nearly walked in to the original Top Notch in the 1970’s with a modern touch. Glad they kept it original!! This location has a nice outdoor seating area out back with good music and plenty of space for the kiddos to run around. Hope to see them expand more locations to the surrounding counties outside of Austin!
The food was just okay. Nothing special or spectacular, but also not bad. The atmosphere was great, though. If you choose to eat outside, you get a nice view of a water fountain in a retention pond and a big field right nect to it where all the kids played. Plus, the kid meals came in a really cool folded paper car. Would come back just for the kids.
Overall a good experience and definitely has that "burger joint" feel. We got there before the "lunch rush" so we were able to order and get our food without any delays. Food was good and easily on par or better than the majority of "fast food" places in the vicinity. We didn't try the "drive up" service, but we might do that on our next visit. They are definitely a great addition to Hutto and worth your patronage!
This is the second location for Top Notch, inside the new co-op space in 'downtown' Hutto. Food: Your standard fare with burgers, hot dogs, fries, chicken dinner, shakes and malts. The mixed chicken dinner was so-so. A slightly warmer than room temp wing and thigh served with mash/gravy, coleslaw, and a slice of toast for $11.49. Onion rings were great, as was the burger. Service: Counter-style ordering and you'll pick it up when your name is called. Cost: Mixed chicken dinner, a burger combo, and drink addition ran us about $31 after tax. Overall: Still new and getting up to speed on service and all those details such as keeping up with refilling ketchup and wiping down of tables and making sure orders are correct. Otherwise, it's nice and spacious inside with tables outside and room for kiddos to run about. Takes cards and lots of parking. Car hop service coming soon.
Atmosphere is nice! Waited in line & for the food for 40 minutes (remember, they opened this week, so it won’t always be this long), but the food was good! I had the cheeseburger combo with onion rings & a DP. I decided on the onion rings because I heard a lady say they were good, LOL. Cheeseburger came with one pickle, so I had to ask for more. Pretty good overall. It was my first time ever trying the restaurant, along with my friend. I think everyone should try at least once - especially for the location. I spent about $14 for my combo. I won’t say that it is anything special, but it is a good choice. :)
The burger is fair, and the onion rings are ok. Nothing great, but decent. Very nice young lady at the counter took my order, while another guy acted completely disinterested in doing any work at all. The inside is ok, music is a little loud and the place could be kept cleaner.
Well, very not top notch I’m afraid. Was with high hopes thanks to their “charcoal burgers” sign, and the very high prices… I should’ve known when saw the place is empty, but thought it’s because it was close to 4pm. Burger is exactly similar to your everyday fast food joint I’m afraid, very small / thin single patty, and not at all charcoal flavor. But the price definitely not a fast food level - 2 burgers with fries and drinks $29 incl. a 15% tip (won’t blame the guys for the food / price let down). Fries, although similar to the ones in MCD, were fresh and nice, and service was also ok. Most likely won’t be back…
Update: good location that opens up to a park, but the burger was incorrect both times we've been here. That is too many times in my opinion. We liked this place! I liked that they had a real chicken breast grilled chicken sandwich. Prices are right. The theming is really great about this place. The nostalgia is down to an art!! It feels like this was here since 1971 when of course it was not!
I agreed to the 15 minute wait time for the upcharged 2 piece chicken dinner. 1 piece was smaller than the receipt & it’s questionable if it has any meat at all in it. I would have spoKen to staff, but they were hiding in the back. Top Notch - Hutto, y’all are Bottom Notch of the trash dumpster!!
First of all I went to drive up this is my second time I Order the cheese burger combo it was cold the bread was wet I also order a milkshake it was like drinking milk and I paid for three meals at $12.50 you think you would have gotten a better meal I should of went to Mac Donald’s at least you know what you’re getting and it’s hot. Lost a customer do better people and I was the only car in drive trew at the time of my order no excuse for my meals to come out like that.
Food was very bland. The hamburger and fries were unseasoned, so there was no flavor. Overpriced for what we got. Other than that, place was clean, atmosphere was nice.
Went to top notch earlier for lunch with the princess. The fries were good, but everything else was meh… my daughter got chicken tenders fries and I got fries and a special top pick burger. The top pick burger had unmelted shredded cheddar cheese, and some odd bbq sauce. Overall not a great burger experience. We also got the regular cheeseburger, jalapeño burger and a chicken thigh. The regular cheeseburger tasted like a larger jr bacon cheeseburger without the bacon. It was good. The jalapeño burger wasn’t very good, about as well crafted as the top pick burger. Also got a fried chicken thigh, which was decent but I wouldn’t call it good. The fried? Grilled? Chicken sandwich was pale and wobbly, not crispy. We ordered fries but I’m not sure what in the world they gave us. The shrimp and fish were worse than a frozen mega mart bag. The shrimp and fish were hot, fresh and crispy, but mushy and flavorless on the inside. I got the original burger again, that was still solid. If someone handed me that and fries I’d be happy, but wouldn’t pay for it again. The onion rings were crispy, but had a very odd taste… not sure, maybe that is growing pains for a 40+ year old restaurant. The milkshake was good. Fried chicken sandwich - 0/10 Onion rings - 2/10 Fish - 1/10 Shrimp - 1/10 Coleslaw 3/10 Milkshake - 7/10 Fresh squeezed lemonade - 1/10, sour and bitter. Chicken tenders - 4/10 Top pick burger - 2/10 (my daughter said this tasted like Jolli-Bee) Jalapeño burger - 3/10 Regular cheeseburger - 5/10 Fries - 7/10 Fried Chicken thigh - 4/10 Service/atmosphere 10/10 If I come back I’ll be getting the regular cheeseburger and fries. But first impression is that we got another mediocre restaurant in Hutto, roughly the same quality level of whataburger.
