I loved staying here. My favorite part was all the beautiful photographs of Lucille Ball, her family, and other celebrities of the time. My room was fine. As I was at a conference across the street, I didn't eat any meals there, so I can't speak to that. But the staff were very friendly and attentive. Everything was clean and attractive. The drivers of the shuttle were exceptionally sweet. The cost here was so much better than where my conference was held.
I can honestly say the entertainment is spectacular. I had breakfast once, & great. The environment is peaceful & quiet in the room area I was in. The staff from check in to housekeeping was wonderful. The electricity went out in the hotel & it literally took all day before it began to 🆒 off again - not the hotels 🏨 fault ~ I’d give it a 10 across the board… Why? Even though I don’t have young children, the children that I’ve seen seem to be enjoying themselves & smiling with their families. Sign of a welcoming environment ~ and then a preteen asked me if I a going to the elevator - I smiled & thanked him‼️
We had a wonderful stay at the resort! The location is excellent, offering easy access to nearby attractions, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. I would happily give it a 5-star rating. The only area that could use a bit of improvement is the service at the front counter, as a little more attentiveness would make the experience perfect. Overall, highly recommended!
Great location for overnight. Stopped here during our roadtrip. Staff were very friendly and helpful, we got a full equipped room with mountain view. Free EV charging on the lot. Late night swimming in the pool. Enjoyed the stay - only the breakfast and as not that good but nevermind - the price was good.
Peppery is older but still very nice. Rooms were nice and clean. Beds could be updated. Pool area was quiet and relaxing. Pool water was warm and the poolside bar made good drinks. It was fun to watch golfers as they cooked right next to the pool area. There was live music every evening we were there. It was a little too loud for me and we could hear it when we were in our room on the 2nd floor. They did stop at 9pm, so it wasn't too bad. The hotel has a lot of celebrity photos displayed on the walls, but the main photos are of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez as they were the original founders of the property. Staff were very kind and helpful. We came for some sun and relaxation by the pool and to visit Joshua Tree National Park. This place was in a nice area with beautiful resorts and golf courses. We enjoyed our stay and would come back.
The restaurant and cabana aren't open during the week, but for the price of the room we were very comfortable. The pool was nice and cold, sitting at the back of a green on the golf course with the San Jacinto and Santa Rosa Mountains in the background. Our very affordable room had a decent size tile bathroom and shower, comfy king with a view, and huge closet with a beer fridge. Everything was clean and worked, and the staff was attentive. The resort is close to a vons and Sprouts, and lots of good places to eat near downtown Palm Desert, about 2 miles away.
Love this place. Price is affordable. Rooms are clean and spacious. Pool is warm, with lovely views of golf course and mountains.
This isn't an over the top fancy hotel, but it's definitely a happy medium, especially if you're traveling with kids or for a dance competition like we were. It was a busy weekend so the staff was very busy but they did the best they could to make everyone happy. The food was good too, and they have a full bar🤭
That sounds lovely 🌺 — would you like me to: 1. Describe a beautiful hotel and a beautiful room in vivid detail (luxury, cozy, modern, etc.)? 2. Recommend real hotels with stunning rooms (and maybe where they’re located)? 3. Or create an image of a beautiful hotel and room so you can see it? Which option would you prefer?
Very nice rooms that need several updates... standard size beds, no microwave, plus they have a parking fee that's added on on check in.
Was great. Alue for a huge space, comfy bed, and helpful staff. Stayed one night, but will spend two on the day back. Very nice setting.
This is a very nice place for a very good price. Pool and jacuzzi are nice, as well as the Firepit (at night) by the pool. Restaurant is good and the pool patio bar is also nice, when open (weekends more likely).
We r absolutely Loving our stay here!!!! We've been visiting the area our entire lives but only just discovered DSH! Will stay here every visit from now on!!!!!!
Older rooms but overall hotel has a Hollywood ambience and great service. Self parking was convenient and very close to the room
I recommend this place for anyone coming to palm springs or just needing a vacation get away. Everything was so quick and easy we checked in and out so fast. The vallet boys are AMAZING they are so nice and helpful. Room service came every day and made my room so nice. 10/10
Rooms are a little dated but the bed was comfortable. The shower went from hot to cold and back for some reason. The continental breakfast was a little pricey for what you get. The price was right for the stay though and I definitely will stay there when in Palm Desert again.
Chavez resort is very beautiful lovely big lobby friendly guest service The maids are amazing they do a really good job on the rooms it smelled really really walk in I get this five stars and I'm planning to return back here soon ❤️👍👍
Great room for the price. The pool and jacuzzi were available after hard week days of work. Live music til 9pm, very cute atmosphere. Been here before will definitely come again.
I had a great experience with this property’s customer service. I accidentally made a booking error, and their team was incredibly kind, understanding, and willing to work with me to resolve the issue. They responded quickly and handled everything professionally, which really took the stress off the situation. I truly appreciate their flexibility and excellent service — highly recommend!
We were very pleased with this hotel. We read a few horrible reviews and were skeptical. Those reviews were way off base. The hotel is very well maintained and clean. The staff was so helpful. The grounds and pool area was wonderful. I highly recommend this hotel. Plus, the rooms were fantastic and the bed was very comfy
The price was amazing. The view was awesome. The decor and photographs throughout the establishment was next level. I couldn’t get phone signal there so i had to depend on WiFi but the WiFi only worked 10% of the time which was frustrating. Then the evening front desk clerk had a attitude when i asked him for help.
I paid less than $100 to stay here. For the price I paid, it was great! The hotel itself is very nice and well kept. The rooms however, are outdated. No fridge or microwave. Old furniture and carpet. Hasn't aged very well, everythinglooks worn out. I stayed at a comfort inn the following day and the rooms were much, much nicer. But I can't complain too much considering the price. Was well worth it.
My husband and I spent 2 nights here. The rooms were great! A very comfortable bed with a balcony. The pool is open until 9pm which is very nice if you dont want to go during the peak heat. My only recommendation for you is to avoid the dinner at the IW live. We both got the filet mignon with the mashed potatoes. I wasnt expecting top notch quality, but the meat and mashed potatoes had zero flavor. I keep adding salt, pepper and butter to the mash, but it was useless. In total, the dinner was $120, not including tip...don't let the waiter fool you, it wasnt that great. Also, the parking was separate. $25/day! And we never saw security pass by the lot so Im very confused as to why it was charged 😭 they didnt tell us until we recieved the bill and it was under "incidentals" but I guess this could be also our fault for not double checking. Overall, the staff was very nice, comfortable and clean room. I wouldnt be opposed to staying here again, but I definitely wouldnt do the dinner again.
The hotel is tired. It needs a good refreshing. The bed we slept in was beyond needing replacement and the pillows (5 sad little balls on the bed) looked like they had passed their prime a long time ago. Who knows? Maybe they found them in Desi and Lucy's closet?
Second time coming here. The kids love this place. Throughout the week, they have live music with stellar talents. The rooms are okay but the staff is awesome. The amazing mountain view rooms face the golf course. I could have given it a 5 star, but the hotel doesn't include breakfast with the reservation. A $15 charge is due per person who wished to eat there. Overall, experience is great. Water is warm, so anyone wanting to swim but fears sun damage on their skin can enjoy night swimming.
Great Value, Friendly Staff, and Comfortable Stay This is an older property, but it’s a great alternative to the more luxurious (and pricier) neighbors. If you don’t need anything fancy and just want a clean, comfortable place to rest with solid amenities, this is it. The room was very spacious, clean, and came with a fridge, super convenient. The bathroom was large too. The front desk staff were incredibly kind and helpful, especially with all our first-timer questions. The only minor issue was the spotty WiFi in the room, but I was able to work from the lobby without any problems, so it worked out fine. All in all, a great room for the money. If I'm in the area again, this will be my first inquiry.
The lobby at Indian Wells Resort is absolutely stunning, grand, spacious, and beautiful. It really sets high expectations when you first arrive. Unfortunately, the rooms don't quite live up to that first impression. They felt somewhat outdated and didn't have that fresh, clean feel you'd expect from a resort of this caliber. Everything seemed a bit older and could use some updating. The balconies were also disappointing. They're extremely small, barely enough room to stand in comfortably. They also lack privacy since you can see into neighboring balconies through the walls, which takes away from the relaxing resort experience. The common areas are impressive, but the rooms and balconies need some attention to match the quality of the rest of the property. For the price point, I expected more modern accommodations.
It almost has a theme park/museum feel with the larger than life Lucy and Desi photos that line the hallways. The place is very clean and the room was spacious. Bed was comfortable but the pillows were small and felt cheap. Fortunately there was 6 of them. There's a pricey restaurant that is part of the place that provides room service which is convenient. There was a refrigerator in the room but no microwave to warm up leftovers which was disappointing. There was a small coffee maker and 2 coffee packets with creamer and sweetener. For the price we thought it was a good value, but no microwave and no complimentary morning coffee other than what was in the room lost points with us.
It was very clean, and staff was extremely friendly. The rooms are large. The breakfast set up was disappointing. 15.00 for cereal and muffins etc and an extra 10.00 to add eggs and bacon/sausage. Our room was never stocked with coffee cups so we were charged 10.00 for 2 cups of coffee from the buffet. We were charged 25.00 a day for parking which wasn’t posted anywhere online when we booked. No microwaves in the room to heat up our leftovers. It’s a nice hotel but not nice enough for all the added charges that would be included in a hotel that price. We liked the hotel, but will probably choose a different place to stay next time.
Our room was good, but the AC was very loud. We were four people, yet housekeeping only left two or three washcloths each time, so we constantly had to ask for more. The body towels were small, the shower arm was loose, and the shower valve kept falling off whenever we touched it. Service was also very slow during the weekdays. On a positive note, the pool amenities were excellent.
A bit of a dated hotel, anyone walking around upper floors sounds like a heard of elephants, $25 parking per day 😬- pool and spa were clean, only half the spa jets worked. Google maps has location in the middle of the street about a half a mile from the actual location. Breakfast was ok, would stay here again for convenience but likely would look elsewhere first.
This is a very budget friendly hotel. Lots of potential however the rooms are very out dated. And if you are a light sleeper do not stay here. You can hear EVERYTHING. People walking down the hallway, showers turning on and Running from other rooms. People walking around in the room above you. I booked a room for two nights and slept terribly both nights. Beds aren't comfortable and squeek. I heard the person above me from 4am-7am from when they turned the shower on and to what sounded like they were running through a obstacle course in their room. Night two i finally called the front desk cause the noise picked up again just after 9pm and i was told that it was a different occupant then what was there the night before. So this has to be a building issue.
Never have I ever🙄 3 hours after check in my door quit working and instead of moving me to an operable room they said I could just come to the front desk(4blocks away) and they would come let me in😑 how convenient🙄 then I asked for an extra cot or roll away bed to put between the 2 beds there because my daughters didn't want to sleep in a double bed together and THAT was against fire code somehow 🙄 not welcoming not helpful!! mandatory $25 parking fee and breakfast is 16 bucks per person.. not even coffee offered in the morning 😒 GLAD I only paid $24 for the room!
The service at the hotel was just okay. When we arrived, I was happy to see that the room was clean, which gave me a good first impression. However, on the second night, we found a live cockroach in the room—so disgusting. I had seen similar complaints in previous reviews but decided to give the hotel a chance, thinking management had already addressed the issue. Unfortunately, that clearly wasn’t the case. Very disappointing. I wouldn’t stay here again.
The room was fine, the water pressure was insane for the shower and sink. It seeped out onto the floor, the sink splashed us so be careful. The sink would also just clog and fill up with dirty water. Finally the toilet was so low and barely flushable. You’d have to flush at least 3 times for no leftovers to be in the toilet. First hotel with no microwave also…upsetting. There’s also only shampoo no conditioner, so bring your own.
Ugh, this place! They give away rooms on the cheap so they can nickel & dime you for everything. $37 for valet parking (that seems to be mandatory; consider parking in the lot across the street as I did with no problem), $18 for your standard crap buffet, +$9 more for hot eggs & bacon, no drinks of your own in the pool other than water, you'll have to buy from their bar or else, per your rental contract, they'll kick you out of their hotel. Fridge didn't work, at least there was an ice machine for my cooler. And the hallway floors are taped down where the boards are coming up! Very unpleasant stay, couldn't wait to get out of there
The rooms are mediocre both by looks and comfort. The pool, dining area, and lobby are all very nice, but there are roaches. I saw both babies and a full-grown cockroach during my stay. I do not recommend unless you are a weirdo who enjoys sleeping with roaches.
Location is in the desert town. Hotel room small, clean, bed comfy and cozy. Not what I really expected from the description on line. One pool and hot tub in a small area. Inside the Pool and the perimeter, very dirty with hair, straws, bugs, cherries, cups inside the pool, lime and lemons inside and out, peanuts, small bottles and toe nails by the hot tub area. Dirty dirty.very disappointed me and my husband could not enjoy the pool at all! On line it looked like a few pools and the resort seems large, I was disappointed. Food is way too expensive. Not enough traffic, which is good. The breakfast buffet is not a buffet! Just some regular waffles coffee and bagels which amounts to 15 bucks a person. Makes no sense. Just a cozy very small resort with not many people.
We booked this place because it was one of the few “semi-affordable” options in the area. When I mentioned that to the front desk, the agent literally laughed and said it made sense. In hindsight… that should’ve been my warning. The hotel has some charming Hollywood history, which was a fun discovery, until we actually got into the room. The bed was piled with five tiny, lumpy pillows that looked and felt ancient. After a long day of travel, a clean bed and a decent pillow shouldn’t be too much to ask, yet here we are. Then came the water situation. I went to fill a glass and what came out of the tap looked like skim milk. Not exaggerating, I attached a photo to the review. We didn’t feel safe drinking it, brushing our teeth with it, or showering with it. We used bottled water like we were camping, not staying at a “resort.” Noise? Also an issue. We were on the ground floor and it sounded like the guests above us were doing laps and jumping off furniture until 10 PM, then woke up early and started again. If you’re hoping for peace and quiet or thick walls, this isn’t the place. On top of that, they charge a $25 parking fee… without collecting your plate number, giving a permit, or doing anything that remotely justifies the fee. The internet provided is also unusable. But the real kicker, the moment that earned this review... happened at checkout. The Guest Services Directory in our room clearly stated that continental breakfast was complimentary for guests. Perfect, I thought. Let me grab a waffle and a coffee before we hit the road. The second my waffle went into the toaster, an employee told me breakfast was for “paying customers only.” I showed the manager, Ebony, the printed policy in their own in-room book (image attached), and she still insisted I had to pay (I believe it was $22) for a sad spread of stale bagels, broken hard-boiled eggs, cereal, and waffles. Absolutely not worth it. What shocked me most was the lack of concern. No apology, no acknowledgment that the information guests rely on was incorrect. I had to ask multiple times for corporate contact info, which she did not want to provide. Only when I pointed out that this could all be resolved by simply letting me have the waffle did she agree to remove the “breakfast charge.” If this hotel is under new management and implementing new rules, maybe update the guest book that every room relies on. It's not complicated. I wouldn’t stay here again, and honestly, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. ETA: Even on google, it says "Free Breakfast". If you want to change your policies... maybe change it across all platforms. What a pathetic money grab from a seemingly greedy corporation. Even non "resorts" offer continental breakfasts (much better than the breakfast Indian Wells has to offer too)
This hotel is not a resort, despite being surrounded by true resorts like the Hyatt and Tommy Bahama. The location is great, but that’s where the positives end. The front desk and kitchen staff were unfriendly and gave off the vibe that they didn’t want to be there—service was unwelcoming and careless. The $16 breakfast buffet was worse than a free continental breakfast at a Motel 6—completely not worth the price. The rooms are outdated and in serious need of remodeling. On top of all that, they charge $25 per day for parking, which just adds insult to injury. Definitely not worth the price or the “resort” label. I wouldn’t stay here again
Upon my arrival, I met a tired, irritable front desk staffer who never once made eye contact. I inquired about food and was told I had 30 minutes to order. After unsuccessfully hunting down a waiter I ordered a pizza from the bartender. It arrived cold and the bartender was nowhere to be found. No Wi-Fi in my room, and after I moved to a new room the same problem persisted. I was told I needed to go out into the hallway or in the lobby if I wanted Wi-Fi. The woman who took over after the shift change was equally as rude. The next day I tried to address the issue again and I met the same level of distain from the Manager David and his subordinate Brent. In fact, when I said that Wi-Fi is an amenity and I needed it to be addressed, David, raised his voice to me and said, "If you don't calm down, I will have you evicted." I was completely stunned by his irrational accusation and taken aback. I said I will check out and I want a full refund. He yelled that he was happy to do that. BTW, this was in front of another guest, who came up to me shortly thereafter and said "that was weird." I packed my car and returned to the front desk to receive the promised receipt of the refund, and he informed me with equal belligerence that he charged me for one night of my intended three. To avoid further confrontation I accepted the receipt, asked him to write his name on it and left after he threw the pen at me. I am disabled and I am suffering serious trauma from this incident. I had booked three nights and stayed one night without sleep. I am consulting my doctor and discussing legal representation. It appears that the staff at this resort carries deep resentments toward the public. This front desk staff needs serious rehabilitation. I know that it isn't easy to serve the public but if you are burned out, take care of yourself, don't take it out on the paying public. Lastly, I will add, my room was dirty and in disrepair.
Our stay at the Indian Wells Resort Hotel was deeply disappointing. The property felt old, outdated, and poorly maintained. Cleanliness was lacking, and the air conditioner was unbearably noisy—sounding like a plane engine—and filled the room with a cold, unpleasant smell that made it impossible to relax. The staff was not welcoming or friendly, which added to the negative experience. What was especially disheartening is that, given the hotel’s history with Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball, one would expect a celebration of their legacy. Instead, the décor consisted mostly of cheap black-and-white prints scattered around the property, which felt uninspired and even unsettling, as if they were staring at you rather than honoring their contributions to entertainment. Overall, the hotel felt like a ghost of the past with nothing to justify its reputation or history. Sadly, this was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had.
Wife and I stayed here. Unfortunately missed the breakfast and had food delivered. We were planning on eating in the seating area they had before heading to the pull. Upon grabbing some towel had a gentleman at the front desk yell at us We cant eat at the pool. I said thats fine we were planning to eat at one of these open tables. He yelled again No you need to go to your room in a tone scolding parent talks to his child. That is no way to speak to a guest. It ruined my wife's and my experience. Worst part was there were other people eating and drinking by the pool. Either enforce the rule with everyone or not at all and dont speak to guest with that tone. A polite ask will get you the same results.
On September 15, I had a room booked and paid for at this hotel. When I arrived, the manager at the front desk refused to check me in. He didn't explain the reason. He also refused to give me a document stating that he refused to check me in. Without this document, I can't get my money back. He said that he doesn't have to give me anything or any documents about his refusal. He said that this is his hotel and he doesn't want me here, he told me to go buy something. He also threatened to call the police. I'm in shock, for the first time in my life I see such chaos and lawlessness in America.
Absolutely unacceptable experience. We were denied check-in because of a power outage at the property, and despite this being completely out of our control, the hotel refused to refund our reservation when we asked to cancel. The staff showed no flexibility, empathy, or professionalism, turning what should have been a simple situation into a frustrating ordeal. I strongly advise avoiding this hotel—poor service like this can completely ruin your plans.
Terrible guest service and poor communication. We’ve stayed at this property many times and have always had wonderful experiences, but unfortunately, our most recent experience was completely ruined by the staff. I cannot recommend this hotel. They don’t answer the phone, fail to respond to requests, and in person, they are rude. It’s one thing to overlook the dated rooms and high prices for food and drinks when the staff is excellent—but when the service is this bad, it overshadows everything else.
This hotel used to be one of my favorite hotel's, it's been a Lil over a year since I have checked into this hotel and I'm very disappointed, I was placed on the opposite side then usual, as soon as I walked into our room it reeked of mold, there was a used bandage on our floorbythe night stand and all of the furniture looks outdated. We asked if we could move rooms and the front desk refused to move us. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.
Stayed here for the holidays while visiting family, the elevator didn’t work, the fire alarm went off early on Christmas morning and didn’t stop for hours. The rooms are dated, oversized, but no additional furniture, other than the beds and a desk. Lacking personality. Charged for self parking.
The room smelled weird, and the TV doesn’t have basic apps like Netflix or YouTube. We asked twice to have the phone replaced because it didn’t work, and they never fixed it. Out of the 4 days we stayed, housekeeping only came once after we requested it twice at the front desk and they arrived about 4 hours later. There are no entertainment areas besides the pool, and the common outdoor spaces are very small. On top of that, they charge $25 per day for parking. There are no nearby shops, cafés, or restaurants within walking distance. I wouldn’t recommend this place for vacations. It feels more like a hotel meant for a one-night stay, not for an actual trip.
It has now been taken over and the price changes are ridiculous!!!! It’s pretty much doubled in price and has added a few different fees and a large deposit too. They are ruining a historical place all over Capitalism and Greed. Boycott this place and bring it back to the affordable place that catered to all, not just the .Wealthy. Lucille Ball would be so upset over these changes. Lucy and Desi are turning in their graves in sure !!!!😡 Hollywood should take eminent domain over this Place because of the history. . Through the historical Society !!!!!!
Thoroughly disappointed. First room they put us in was large but was right outside this loud, seems like air conditioner. Could not open the slider because it was so loud…The Floor rumbled it was so loud. We moved rooms and in the morning. I unplugged the dryer from the Bathroom wall to use my own and completely mortified by a cockroach right on the outlet. Spent 20 min trying to find where it went so I could finish rushing out to my son’s tournament. Went to the desk immediately and she was so nonchalant. Would not agree to let us move room because they were sold out tonight and she was so rude. It was 7:30 am. I am sure they had one room as check in is not until 4. The only nice guest service agent was the one when we checked in. Taking our money! The rest were plain rude and not apologetic. I’m siting here is this room now after a long day at sandstorm and completely grossed out. The only thing they offered was to not charge us for parking- in a self park parking lot. Absolutely ridiculous. The beds are hard. Pillow are horrible. The mattresses make a sound every time you move around on the bed. No sleep. The water does not get hot enough for showers. Would not recommend this hotel.
